The Ivy Room was a dream come true in venue and team! From the moment we took our tour we knew we were in good hands. Natalie had such a calming but exciting presence, and was so communicative and helpful, even finding our favorite type of gummy bears!! Our food tasting was incredible and they knocked it out of the park for our 100+ guests on the day! Service went so smoothly, guests didn't go hungry and everyone was so complimentary of the service, and food! Thank you for helping make our wedding day spectacular!
I had the pleasure of working at The Ivy Room for the first time as a wedding planner, and my experience has been nothing short of exceptional. Since being booked as a full-time planner by the client last October, I’ve had the opportunity to interact closely with Natalie. Her response rate has been impeccable, and she is always kind, courteous, and thorough in addressing every question.
We had several meetings, including a tasting and a final walkthrough, but what truly stood out was Natalie’s demeanor and the overall process on the wedding day. It was remarkable to witness the team in action—Natalie and her colleagues moved chairs, carried tables, and managed the event with such efficiency and passion. It’s evident that the leadership Natalie provides sets a high standard for the entire team, and it was reflected in the exceptional service and dedication of everyone involved.
Despite the unfortunate rain, the team handled the situation flawlessly. The seamless transition of guests into the lounge, with the bar miraculously preset, was impressive. Even with a slight delay in the bride and groom's schedule, the timing was adjusted perfectly, allowing us to seat guests and serve meals on time without a hitch.
I would be delighted to return to The Ivy Room in the future. For any bride and groom searching for a venue, The Ivy Room delivers a remarkable experience, complemented by amazing food. Kudos to the chef as well!
Thank you again for such a wonderful experience.
Wonderful setting, great day of coordination and planning help leading up the event. Day of service was absolutely top notch and professionally executed. A truly seamless experience, highly recommended.
When my husband and I toured wedding venues in Chicago, we immediately fell in love with this one. It is smack dab in the middle of downtown Chicago, which was great since we had so many out of town guests excited to tour the city. My wedding was in May and the outdoor courtyard was absolutely GORGEOUS. The wall of ivy had bloomed and made the ceremony space feel very intimate and romantic. We were able to do the ceremony and cocktail hour outdoors and the reception indoors. Both spaces looked classy, but still warm. This venue comes with its own caterer that you must use. No worries though, their food is AMAZING. I will say the pricing for this venue is higher than many others in Chicago, but it comes inclusive of many items that you'd usually have to hire separate vendors for or create yourself (tables, chairs, linens, personalized menus, uplighting, etc.). Pamela was the Ivy Room coordinator we worked with and she was very responsive and accommodating to questions and requests that we have. Overall, we loved the way our wedding turned out and would highly recommend this venue.
This venue was stunning and working with Natalie was an absolute delight. She worked endlessly to make us feel comfortable and throw a beautiful event.
Ivy Room is the perfect venue for weddings and any events. The outdoor courtyard, ballroom, and lower lounge are absolutely beautiful with modern and vintage vibes. Ivy Room is so elegant and the ivy walls add natural romantic touches. The staff provided excellent service at our wedding and our guests commented how amazing the team served during dinner. Don't get me started on the food, Lettuce Entertain You, was the highlight for our wedding guests. During the reception, we received texts from our friends saying this is the best wedding meal they've ever had. We had a 4 course meal, and everything was so delicious. We kept receiving comments how the second and main entrees were divine. Our friends are in the food industry, and they noticed how every dish was freshly cooked and presented beautifully. Pam, our day of coordinator from Ivy Room, was the superstar of our day. She planned with us throughout the year and designed the flawless logistics. Pam is attentive to small details and made sure we had our drinks/food when we had the time to eat. We also had a packed timeline with the Korean ceremony during reception, and Pam kept everything smooth and moving along despite all the events we had in our day. Pam is the sweetest, and she really was an important partner in our wedding. I can't thank Pam, the staff, and the chef for bringing the best night of our lives. Seriously, highly recommend Ivy Room and can't wait to return for future events.
We booked Ivy Room for our July wedding because it is stunningly beautiful and we knew the food would be great through Lettuce Entertain You (it was). What really ended up making it stand out, though, was the level of professionalism from top to bottom and the attention to detail for each moment of our reception. Abby was a joy to work with and was accommodating of every decision and last minute change that we wanted. The wait staff were awesome and attentive. We even got multiple compliments on the bartenders, which we didn’t know was a thing people complimented. And a special shout-out to the maitre d’ Giuseppe who was magically always there with whatever we needed as if he could read our minds. We would recommend Ivy Room to any couple looking for a perfect spot for downtown Chicago wedding.
When we chose The Ivy Room a year and a half ago, we knew right away that it would be the perfect venue for our small (50 guests) wedding ceremony and reception. They were able to transform their space to meet our vision and exceed our expectations. We used 3 different spaces within the venue, which included a cocktail hour held in the courtyard. This was a great area to mingle with our guests prior to dinner. It was a quiet beautiful setting, perfect for photo opportunities.
Kiran worked with us as our coordinator and was helpful and organized. She assisted the vendors (musical duo, officiant, florist) which created seamless transitions throughout the evening.
The service staff was attentive, friendly, accommodating and met the needs of us and our guests.
Our guests raved about the food, from the hors d'oeuvres to the four course meal. Our little secret was that we already knew how fantastic the food was going to be after we had our food tasting the month prior.
We highly recommend The Ivy Room , you won't be disappointed.
Talk about the BEST venue ever! We had to make so many changes to our original wedding planning due to the pandemic. The Ivy Room rolled with it all and gave us the most spectacular day ever! I felt like a queen from start to finish. We worked with Leslie, Kiran and Brittany throughout the process and give each of them 10/5 stars. They are professional and quite literally will do anything to make your day exactly what you want. The day of your wedding, you don’t need to worry about a thing because they will take care of everything and most importantly will always make sure you have a full glass of champagne!
The Ivy Room was FANTASTIC to work with for our engagement party. Dealing with changing COVID restrictions, they always kept me updated. When rain hit unexpectedly, Kiran and team came up with a fantastic rain plan. The bartender and all the staff we interacted with were so so great. I cannot recommend this place enough.
The Ivy Room was everything I could have hoped and more! We had our December wedding here and it could not have been better. It is such a beautiful space (and this is just the tip of the iceberg). Needless to say the location is amazing too, right downtown and easy to get to from a ton of hotels. Both my florist and my stationer got married at the Ivy Room - I feel like if people in the biz are getting married there, then you know it's good! Now on to Chrissy - she is absolutely amazing to work with! Basically anything I asked for or needed she was more than willing to accommodate and I really felt like she was as invested in the day as me. Not to mention the whole staff was amazing - its honestly like being at a fine dining restaurant with the level of service you receive. Our came to find me to let me know that our meal had been served, otherwise I'm sure I wouldn't have eaten! She was so attentive to our needs it really was amazing. Next - the food...have you ever been to a wedding where the next day people are STILL talking about how delicious everything was? The food was absolutely delicious from the passed apps to the late night snack and everything in between. Plus we had the best experience at the tasting - really the whole experience was amazing. If I could to it all again I would not change a single thing. Thank you so much to Chrissy and the whole Ivy Room staff for making our day so unforgettable!!
We had our wedding at the Ivy Room back in August 2019 and it was absolutely perfect. We didn't hire a wedding planner or day of coordinator, but Abbey with Ivy Room ensured that every i was dotted and ever t was crossed. As a fairly organized bride, I had lists upon lists of things I wanted to get done and Abbey assured me "do not even worry about it" of course I worried, but once the day came, she was so right... Ivy Room took care of EVERYTHING. The schedule was followed down to the minute, guests always knew where to be and where to go. It's been about 4 months and guests still tell me how beautiful it was, how great the food was (specifically the creamed corn prawn soup), and how organized it was. The only complaint I received from guests was that the wedding was too short!
I cannot encourage you enough to consider this venue for a wedding or any other special event. We recently held our daughter's wedding reception at The Ivy Room. They are nothing short of amazing! Chrissy was our event planner and no detail was too small, no request too big. They've got this down. The food is amazing and the chef was so accommodating during the tasting. Even though some of the speeches went way over, they somehow managed to serve the food hot immediately after they were done. The menu choice is extensive and everything we tasted delicious. And it's beautiful. While we wanted to have the cocktail hour in the stunning brick and ivy courtyard, the weather didn't cooperate and we had it down stairs which turned out fantastic. We did rent chandeliers from Elegant Event Lighting, which if you can manage it adds an extra touch of class we loved. All the vendors love working with The Ivy Room because of their professionalism. So make your special day even better and rest easy that the Ivy Room will take great care of you.
I had my wedding there this month and everything was AMAZING. For Chicago prices, this was extremely reasonable for our 110 person wedding. I can’t think of one thing where we asked if this was possible and that we were told “no.” No hidden charges, no surprises day of- and Leslie who was our coordinator was a DREAM. Great communication, flexible with our tastings and venue visits since we were out of town, and really made everything unforgettable. Great venue with a lot of flexibility to make sure you can have the wedding of your dreams.
The gorgeous venue speaks for itself with its soaring high ceilings, beautiful wood floor, lush ivy courtyard, and recessed lighting. It is a perfect blank slate to create your dream wedding. You can easily find pictures of it online, but it’s even more beautiful in person. The Ivy Room is a peaceful green oasis in the middle of the hectic city with perfect indoor and outdoor space.
However, it was the Abby Carson at the Ivy Room that was the angel that our wedding planning process needed. She was so patient with us throughout multiple venue tours, table and seating arrangements, and throughout our entire planning process. There was never more than a day that went by without her prompt response to our questions. She was always attentive to our needs, responsive to our questions, had an amazing calming presence, coordinated all the vendors perfectly, and even helped me adjust my veil before I walked down the aisle.
On the day of the wedding we found the staff was as impeccable as our experience with Abby, from the servers to the security guard. The wedding ran just as we planned, with Abby keeping everything on track and allowing us to finally relax for the first time in months and enjoy our wedding. The food was absolutely delicious, with guests telling us it was the best food they ever had at a wedding! So much credit goes to Abby and the Ivy Room staff for making our wedding the most incredible experience.
Not only is the food phenomenal but the the venue itself is beautiful, requiring very little decor. The wedding coordinator and the staff provide wonderful service, leaving you stress free.
My husband and I were married at the Ivy Room in October of 2018. We fell in love with the venue from the get-go. The courtyard is simply magical, the food is unlike anything you'll have in the city of Chicago, and the non-stop support and guidance we received from the event team leading up to our day, specifically from the very talented Leslie Fuller, made the entire weekend go off without a hitch. I cannot speak highly enough of the entire Ivy Room staff as well who when mother nature had other plans for our outdoor ceremony on that damp 40 degree day, moved the entire ceremony set up indoors within hours of start time with no complaints. We left the weekend with a lifetime of memories and a true friend in Leslie
The Ivy Room team went above and beyond our expectations for our wedding. We reserved the venue about 18 months before our wedding and every question or concern we had about vendors, schedule etc was addressed promptly and professionally.
We can’t thank Chrissy Dwyer enough for how wonderful the day was. Every little detail was attended to and they took such good care of our family and friends.
Everything from the space to the food to the service absolutely exceeded our expectations (which were high to begin with). I would definitely recommend this unique and elegant venue. Thank you so much Ivy Room for helping us have the wedding of our dreams!
It's hard to find the words to describe how amazing our wedding was at the Ivy Room on 8/18/18. From the moment we met Chrissy Dwyer and she walked us through the venue we knew it was the one. She worked with us over the first few weeks to ensure we felt comfortable with the contract without making us feel rushed. This was a breath of fresh air compared to other venues who are quick to make one sign.
The first few weeks were just the beginning! Chrissy and the rest of the team were so open and flexible with allowing us to bring family and friends by to see the space over the months leading up to the date. We joke that I can still stop by in the future just to check in. Chrissy was there throughout every step, including the tasting (which, by the way, the food is AMAZING), putting together our run of show, having all of our vendors set-up, and so much more. We had no worries going into the day and felt at ease.
The day of was unforgettable. Chrissy and the full staff were absolutely amazing. They catered not only to our every need, but also our guests. We had many friends and families tell us that it was not only the best wedding meal they have had, but how great the staff was with their quick service and always asking how they can provide them with whatever they need. Everything was absolutely perfect and we cannot thank Chrissy and the Ivy Room staff enough for all they have done to help make our wedding the more amazing day.

Having our wedding at The Ivy Room was the best decision we made throughout our planning process! The venue itself is gorgeous and so elegant but what makes The Ivy Room so special are the people that work there! We worked with Chrissy throughout our planning process and she was phenomenal. Every step of the way we were so impressed with the team at The Ivy Room - the initial tour, the communication from day one, the tasting, our walkthrough, and of course the day of the wedding - Chrissy and the team went above and beyond to make the experience wonderful for not only us, but all the guests as well. Everyone raved about the food and the service all night. We really can't say enough positive things about our experience at The Ivy Room - we wish we could do it all again! :-)
The Ivy Room offers an attentive staff, adaptable space, and delicious food (thank you, Chef Leslie!) for a medium to large wedding. We got married in January and it went perfectly. Special shout outs to Leslie Fuller and Brittany Plfug for their hard work and excellent execution. From the moment we started planning it was a fun and an enjoyable experience. Our families and friends couldn’t stop talking about how wonderful the night was. When it came to us, I couldn’t have asked for anything else. They were so attentive to our needs and our parents as well – the attention to detail was impeccable. I would recommend Ivy Room to anyone getting married in Chicago.
From the moment I came across the Ivy Room in a wedding blog I knew it was the place where we would get married. It is located right in the heart of Chicago, yet you never feel like you are in a city. We met with Natalie for the tour and secured our date the following week. We couldn't speak more highly of the whole team. Not only was the food incredible, but the staff and service was top notch. We got the tasting out of the way 7 months before our wedding date. It seems early for some people, but it was nice to be able to check that major item off of the list before the craziness of the summer set in. We reviewed everything at our final walk through and at the end of it, we felt confident we were ready for the day. One of the best parts about the Ivy Room is they are a full event space and have "small items" in house for you to use including cake stands, cup cake displays and table numbers. We were also fortunate to have our afterparty right down stairs for an additional fee and we would not have chosen it any other way as it kept our party going for an additional 2 hours! We loved the Ivy Room and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for the perfect Chicago venue.
Honestly, if I could give The Ivy Room and Leslie more than just a 5/5 I would! This venue and Leslie were an absolute dream to work with! A dream ! Leslie was literally my event managing angel and was so patient with me throughout the planning process. I was planning my wedding from Las Vegas (where I live) and you would think that would be difficult, but not with this venue and team of amazing, kind and competent people - it was a breeze! Before we even booked the venue I had a gazillion questions and they never hesitated responding and didn't make me feel crazy. After we booked, same story. The tasting was even a special experience and they accommodated my parents, my (now) Mother-In-Law and my groom and I which I thought was very generous of them. The venue oozes this wonderful understated elegance and energy and that is due to the aesthetics but also because of the fabulous staff. The food - INSANE! I can't tell you how many of our guests commented to my groom and I how delectable the food was and how it was "the best wedding food they have ever had". I love to dance and I regret to say I didn't bring a flat pair of shoes to change in to when my feet started to hurt (an oversight, indeed). Embarrassing as it was, I had to take my heels off, because they were holding me back. Well, low and behold one of the fabulous staff members swept in and brought me brand new flip flops! Like, how?! Massive bonus points for saving the day with some flip flops!! Choosing to have our wedding at The Ivy Room was easily the best choice we made in regards to our wedding and we would not hesitate to have another event there or refer them to anyone looking for a top notch space and staff. Thank you so much Leslie and the wonderful Ivy Room Staff!!
"We've got it" should be the motto of this venue. We worked with Leslie and she was the biggest sweetheart and doll that I have ever met. We just had our wedding here in August of 2017 and I cannot say enough good things about this place. If you visit in the summer when the Ivy is in full blossom, you will be blown away by the beauty of the venue, but that is just the start. What you won't be able to tell right away is how accommodating, friendly, service oriented, and professional they are.
There were so many things that I appreciated about this venue that I don't even know where to start. We were planning to have an outdoor ceremony and they allowed us to make the weather call by 2PM the day of our wedding (ceremony was at 5:30PM). This wasn't an issue because we had perfect weather, but other venues we looked at made you put down deposits and make calls by a certain time the day prior. This is just one example of how easy they are to work with. They want to make your day stress free and easy for you.
The food was incredible and so high quality that we had many foodies at our wedding telling us that the food was so good that if it was a restaurant, they would have recommended other people to come there to eat the food. They never tried to make us upgrade a drink package or buy-up anything. Their staff treat the guests like they are waiters at a fine restaurant and were so accommodating and friendly. We have one of "those" jerks in our family that is so embarrassingly high maintenance that you want to cower at restaurants. We thanked Brittany, who served him at the head table, and Brittany told us that she actually loves those kinds of people because they keep her on her toes and she knows if she gets "good job" from them at the end of the night, then she did the best she could. She received the compliment.
Throughout the wedding planning process I kept throwing out design ideas, and with each idea, Leslie would mention how they had something in house that they could bring out for us (Giant Ivy Bushes as a backdrop to our photo booth, hanging string lights over the dance floor, box lights for the curtains, etc.).
We feel so incredibly lucky and fortunate to have had our wedding there, I cannot imagine a more dreamy/happy wedding for us. Thank you so much!!
I cannot say enough great things about the Ivy Room. It is an absolutely gorgeous venue with a courtyard that will make you weak in the knees. Even more delightful than the courtyard is Chrissy, who was SO helpful and easy to work with. She was super responsive to emails and never seemed bothered by our barrage of questions. Her attention to detail and professionalism ensured that our wedding reception went off without a hitch. As far as the room itself goes, we loved that we did not have to enlist yet another vendor for tables, chairs, or linens, as we found their in-house options to be exactly what we envisioned. We were able to customize further with our florist, who provided lighting services as well. Furthermore, the Ivy Room is part of Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises, which meant that the in-house catering was INCREDIBLE. An added bonus was that Chrissy connected us with the group events coordinator at Lettuce Entertain You, who assisted us in selecting a restaurant for our rehearsal dinner. If I had to do it all over again, I would choose the Ivy Room again in a heartbeat.
I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about The Ivy Room. We researched and toured SO many venue options in Chicago and the minute we walked into The Ivy Room, we knew it was the one. The look, aesthetic, and vibe was exactly what we were looking for in a venue — the ballroom is simple and elegant, the space downstairs is perfect for an indoor cocktail hour, and the courtyard is such a hidden gem in the middle of the city! Everyone we met from day one was so amazing to work with and the staff continued to wow us throughout the entire process. Natalie was our primary contact and she was fantastic — responsive, helpful, and just did such an amazing job making sure everything was perfect. Our tasting at The Dining Room at Tree Studios was so fun and that event space is also gorgeous. (I hope to plan an event there some time in the future!) We’re kinda picky when it comes to food and everything we tasted was so delicious it was hard to choose what to include on our menu. On our wedding day, the apps and dinner at our reception was incredible and the service was like a 5-star restaurant. They took care of everything and were so accommodating; the entire experience was just fantastic. The Ivy Room seriously surpassed all expectations and we still get compliments from our guests about how great everything was!
This review is for Ivy's customer service - try are outstanding! They answered our emails so quickly and were flexible and helpful when we were trying to decide between them and a California venue. We are going to California for reasons unrelated to the venue, but Ivy truly impressed us. Highly recommend them if you want to work with kind, thorough staff.
Ivy Room, the place where wedding dreams come true. It’s hard to know where to even begin on this review. Basically I would not have made it through wedding planning if it weren’t for the Ivy Room. My husband and I are originally from Chicago but now live in San Francisco, and planning a wedding from across the country is no joke. We worked with Natalie and she was, in a word, incredible. I honestly felt like we were the only wedding she was planning because of how prompt and devoted she was. No question was too silly or small and there was never more than a day that went by without a response from her. We didn’t have it in our budget to have a wedding planner, but Natalie was with us every step of the way, and I felt like we didn’t even need one. She, and the staff at Ivy Room, made us feel “like guests at our own wedding” because of how taken care of we felt once we stepped in the Ivy Room on our wedding day. Their prefered vendor list (suggestions, you can use other people if you want!) is so helpful when looking through the ocean of Chicago vendors. The food was AMAZING. In fact, we had multiple guests tell us it was the best wedding food they had ever had. Needless to say, we had the time of our lives (as did our guests) and I really give so much credit to the Ivy Room for that. We can not endorse them enough, and quite frankly I want to find an excuse to plan another event there! Have your wedding/event here. You will not regret it. They’ll help you create lifelong cherished memories :)
We absolutely loved our wedding at the Ivy Room! The venue is so beautiful and we received so many compliments! Our event manager Leslie was one of the best that we have worked with! She is very fast in responding any questions we have and helped us a lot in putting together the big day - an absolute pleasure to work with! I would highly recommend the Ivy Room and Leslie to any bride and groom :)
I seriously cannot rave enough about this place. We had our wedding here in April of this year, and the entire thing was perfect. Our event manager Chrissy Dwyer was born to do this job -- during the entire process, she promptly answered all of our questions and made sure we were being taken care of. The night of the event, she was on top of every detail.
First off, the space is clean and gorgeous. The fixtures have a timeless quality, so there is no bad carpeting or wallpaper to cover up. Also, the venue itself has great lighting and draping, which saved us a good amount of money on décor.
Second, the food is AMAZING. That was our central focus, and the Ivy Room did not disappoint. The chef and our event manager worked with us to create the perfect venue, and all of our guests were raving about how great the food was. Not typical for a wedding.
Last and definitely not least, the entire staff that night was friendly, courteous, and didn't miss a beat. I was able to totally relax knowing we were in good hands.
PERFECT place for a wedding. Hidden little gem right downtown in an historic beautiful building , great reliable staff. This venue is an all inclusive - who needs a wedding planner (actually probably didn't need one looking back... if I knew what I know now). We are already planning coming back for an anniversary party.
We got married at the Ivy room in September, and it was the best experience. Everyone from our main coordinator, Chrissy, to the wait staff, were fantastic. I would recommend The Ivy Room to anyone looking for a wedding venue. It's beautiful, classy, amazing service. Our guests have not stopped raving about how delicious the food was as well. All in all, I'd give 10 stars if I could.
The Ivy Room is the perfect place to host a wedding in Chicago. The staff is outstanding and the food impeccable. Shout outs to Kiran who is beyond helpful and professional ( I wanted to adopt her) and Brittany (everyone wanted her as their new best friend) and Chef Chris (oh my gosh the food was amazing) and every other staff member who helped make this such a perfect night for Alison and Kevin's wedding. Words cannot express the gratitude we have for the job you all did. The space is beautiful but it is your staff who really make it wonderful. A million thank you's! Our guest's had the best time and we were worry free from beginning to end. We are your newest, biggest fans.
The staff at The Ivy room is outstanding. They helped make our wedding day incredible and so very special. The space is gorgeous, the food delicious, and every staff member is kind and accommodating. The ivy courtyard is breathtaking and was the perfect location for our first look and cocktail reception. The dining area is also beautiful, and we were so pleased by the tables and chairs available already. The space was the perfect backdrop for our reception and was transformed with our personal touches. Everything was perfect! We continue to receive compliments from our guests regarding The Ivy Room and if we could do it all over we would choose The Ivy Room again!
The moment I walked into the Ivy Room, it was a done deal. I didn't even want to look at another venue. I knew I wanted a wedding venue that was elegant, but not cookie cutter and I loved the Ivy Room's refined urban setting of the courtyard and ballroom. Donna and her team are incredible and made the entire process seamless and enjoyable. She played the role of wedding planner and coordinator, helping us pull together all the little details and connect with the best vendors in the area. I always felt like I was her number one priority, even though I know they have non-stop weddings happening at the space. Also, the ballroom is so beautiful, it was a non-issue to move our ceremony inside when the weather refused to cooperate. All in all, the Ivy Room was the perfect choice.
I found The Ivy Room in a google search a few years ago and I had put it in the 'never going to happen' folder. I thought it was going to be way out of our price range and that we would find something else. We visited a few places before seeing The Ivy Room and then decided 'let's just go see. If it's not what we think it is then we can put it out of our minds'. Well, we walked in and I fell completely in love. The Ivy Room was exactly where I wanted to get married and it was a complete dream come true. It was at the top of our budget, but we were able to wiggle other things around to make it work. The only thing that would have made it better would be if we didn't have to get everything from the caterer. But on the other side it's great because the space is a total blank space. You can customize it however you like. Part of the fee is a day of coordinator which makes the whole experience run smoothly. You will go to a fair amount of meetings which will help you feel comfortable. I couldn't have imagined getting married somewhere else. I love The Ivy Room.
I would not, could not change a thing about my wedding. Our ceremony was at the church, and the reception help at The Ivy Room. Christy B. is the absolute best, and I'm pretty sure she's a mind reader. From the day we met almost a year before to the day of our wedding, she has catered to every single wish and want. She and the Ivy Room team are thorough and helpful. They make sure you have time alone with your new spouse.
The space is ridiculously gorgeous, and a true "secret garden" in the middle of our city- I can't tell you how many compliments I received on this alone.
Know before you go: You've got to use their vendors. For good reason, sure: their vendors are also the best. However, for this reason, the lovely space is likely out of the price range for many young couples. A cool 10K will get you get space, but catering is roundabout 20K, you must use a designer (not just florist) of their choosing (I think 7K)... it is worth it, but it adds up. Be aware if your budget is strict.
The Ivy Room was the first venue that my fiance and I visited in Chicago and we knew the second that we saw it that we just had to book it. It is everything that we were searching for in a venue. We were looking for a place to host both our ceremony and reception in the summer months, we wanted it to be downtown, and we wanted a modern feel. This hit every item on our wish list. From the street, you cannot tell how gorgeous this place is and that is totally part of its charm. The courtyard is GORGEOUS. The walls are covered in beautiful, rich, green ivy, the courtyard feels like a secret garden hidden in the middle of the hustle and bustle of downtown. It's absolutely beautiful and needs no additional decor. The reception room (where we ended up having our ceremony as well due to a rainout) is classic elegance at its best. It's gorgeous with hardwood floors and french doors surrounding the room so that guests can see out into the beautiful courtyard. It is so amazing that our rain plan didn't even feel like a rain plan. Best put by one of our guests "Your rain option was more beautiful than most 1st choice options that couples have." Our guests were floored with how gorgeous the entire venue is. It's elegant without being intimidating. It's classic without being stuffy. It's modern without feeling cold. And, to top it all off, the staff at the Ivy Room are amazing. Christy, Donna and Lara were so incredibly helpful throughout the entire planning process. They recommended the greatest vendors that fit within our budget. They helped us come up with concepts and gave us feedback on ideas so that everything would work best with the space. And, when mother nature decided not to cooperate and rain on our wedding day, Lara even let me wear her rain boots with my wedding gown so that we could get some cute rainy-day pictures in the courtyard. By the end of the process they started to feel like family. I wouldn't have had my wedding any other way and wouldn't have wanted any other people to help me through the process. I can't say enough good things about this place. Yes, it's a bit pricey, but worth every single penny. If venue is important to you, you should seriuosly consider having a look at this place. But warning! Once you look you will want it! :)
we had our wedding at the ivy room on april 12, 2014 and everything was spectacular! christy and lara were amazing to work with, both before and during the event. they were responsive to my questions and totally on top of all the details.
the space itself is immaculate: so light, bright and clean. we were able to turn the space into exactly what we wanted. to be in river north in what feels like a special and secret place is so so lovely; i feel very lucky that we were able to have our wedding here (it's already fun to be running around the neighborhood and have the memories) and will recommend it to anyone! cannot say enough good things about our experience; thank you, ivy room!!
My now husband and I knew The Ivy Room was perfect from the first day we toured. Our search for a venue stopped shortly after our very first tour with Christy and Donna over a year out from our wedding! Every time family would come into town, Donna or Christy would happily let us pop in a give them the tour. Our guests (local and from out of state) STILL can't stop talking about the courtyard. As Father Hurley put it in our ceremony, we truly got the most beautiful weekend of the summer -- air and water show weekend! There isn't a better place to cocktail in all of city. Trust me!
Christy was unbelievably sweet, kind and responsive to all of our many phone calls and emails. She was more than a onsite coordinator -- she really cared about our special day and we had fun talking about little extras along the way.
We don't have one regret...well maybe one, that we can't do it all over again!
We had our wedding at The Ivy Room on May 11, 2013. I had wanted an outdoor ceremony, but really wanted a convenient location for our guests who would mostly be coming from out of town. Lakeside was too windy, so when my then-fiance sent me the link for The Ivy Room we knew it was exactly what we had been looking for. We worked with Christy who is just the nicest, most cheerful person you've ever met. She made everything so easy, and worked wonderfully with our coordinator to make sure every detail was taken care of.
The venue itself is just beautiful. Most of our guests couldn't believe that incredible space was tucked in the middle of the city. I called it our "Secret Garden", and it truly was. The courtyard gets beautiful light, even into the early evening. Inside, the beautiful wood moldings just say "Chicago". And once dancing has started and the room gets a little hot, those french doors are a life saver!
Thank you to Christy and the whole team at The Ivy Room. We truly can't imagine having had our wedding anywhere else.
Our choice to have our wedding and reception at the Ivy Room was the best decision we have made other than choosing each other :) Michael and I did not want to get married at a hotel and we wanted to find a special place that was in the city of Chicago. I came across their website while researching venue's in Chicago. We both recently moved from Los Angeles and did not know too much about the city. The Ivy Room was the first and last place we visited. As soon as we saw the beautiful courtyard we knew this is where we wanted to share our special day with our friends and family. From beginning to end, Christy and Donna were with us through all details of our special day. We were planning this wedding on our own and since our family does not live in Chicago, we needed guidance and help with the do's and don't's of weddings. They were very understanding and answered all 100 million questions that I had :) Its refreshing to have people really take a vested interest in you and provide top notch customer service. Our wedding was October 26th and although it was a bit chilly outside we had the wedding outside. Throughout the whole night, Donna and Christy both would come to Michael and myself asking if everything was ok. The best thing they could have done was after the wedding was over and right before we went out to see our guests for cocktail hour, they brought hors d'ourves from our wedding 2 of each. From what I know now, I didn't get a moments rest during the cocktail hour let alone be able to eat or enjoy any of the food. Alot of bride/grooms say they never eat anything at their wedding and I really thought it was thoughtful of them to think of us. The whole night we felt catered to, they made sure we were content all night. Also, they worked great with all of our vendors and were so organized throughout the whole night. We were both extremely pleased with their help and many of our family members stated how attentive they were to our needs. We have been to many weddings and we have seen it go wrong. We were so pleased our night went so well and our guests thoroughly enjoyed the whole evening. The staff and the venue at the Ivy Room are classy, organized, and extremely pleasant to work with. I highly suggest their services for your special wedding day :)
Everything about this venue was perfect - from the original maple floors, to the grand staircase, outdoor garden, and beautiful bathrooms. The only difficult thing to swallow at first was that the cost you pay was just to walk in the door - all of the other vendors have to be booked separately and are not included in that initial price. However, the vendors that we used were very familiar with the Ivy Room and worked very well in the space. Because it rained the day of our wedding, the ceremony that was originally going to be in the garden, had to be moved inside. No issues there since the room is beautiful and my wedding planner just needed to flip the room during cocktail hour. Overall the place was wonderful! Great location for guests.
This space was perfect. We had 120 guests and the outdoor courtyard was perfect for the wedding and cocktail hour. More important than the actual space were the planners that worked there. Donna, Christy and Lara were awesome. We were planning our wedding from Oregon and they were able to help keep us and all our vendors on the same page and every vendor they suggested was beyond what we could have found on our own. They were great and they made our wedding day so special.
I had July wedding at the Ivy Room, and I could not have had a better experience! The space speaks for itself (hardwood, __ doors, gorgeous courtyard filled with flowers and twinkling lights in the trees). Just two weeks after getting engaged, my then-fiance and I were looking for alternative spaces for our wedding (we just weren’t into the idea of a hotel), and we came across the Ivy Room. After having seen The Peggy Noteabart, The Newberry Library, West Loop Studio, and A New Leaf, we came to the Ivy Room. As soon as I walked into the space, I knew it was exactly what we were looking for. The ballroom and courtyard are truly elegant, but it still has an urban feel with store fronts facing the courtyard and high rises highlighting the sky view and peering over the building.
In addition to planning the wedding, Christy and Donna were an absolute pleasure to work with. They worked closely with my wedding planner (reviewed Katie Kozlowski of Bliss Weddings) to ensure every detail the day of the wedding was taken care of. During my walk-through, Donna and Christy provided invaluable insight as to what floor plan looks best in the space, how to best hang lanterns in the ceiling from the hidden rafters, where to put the DJ table, etc.
The Ivy Room is a bit pricey as compared to some other venues, but the space and service you will receive from these ladies in unparalleled! I highly recommend the Ivy Room if you are looking if you are looking for an alternative space or urban venue for your Chicago wedding!
For our wedding we had a great experience with this venue. I could not of asked for a better group of people to work with. From the first meeting to view the site to the night of the wedding, we were always treated like we were their #1 priority.
If I had to do everything all over again I would go with the Ivy Room.
Amazing, beautiful, unique, elegant...I can't use enough words to describe The Ivy Room! We had our wedding here recently and it was just perfect. From the beginning, Matt made us feel so welcomed and important and although the place sold itself, he really made us want to have our wedding here! Their whole team (Donna, Matt & Christy) was amazing and very accommodating to our needs. They recommended superb vendors as well as offered their opinions on specifics. They took care of everything on the day of, and Matt was there throughout the whole reception for anything we needed (i.e. safety pins for a broken bustle). The space is so exquisite from the courtyard to the indoor main room. We had our cocktail hour in the courtyard and it was perfectly shaded with lights on the trees and plenty of room for our guests to mingle. You really do forget that you are in the middle of Downtown Chicago! With help from our wonderful caterer & florist, Food for Thought & GNG Designs, they set up everything from the place card table to the dinner tables perfectly! We also has FROST lighting illuminate the walls with one of their many patterns, and that really made the room pop! The main room is so beautiful with the mother of pearl above the glass windows and doors and hardwood floor throughout, and is the perfect canvas for any theme you would desire. Just look at their blog! Every wedding and party brings a new and different look to the room and that was what I loved most about the space! I was truly overwhelmed with how beautiful everything turned out and it was a dream wedding for us! This place is absolutely amazing, worth every penny, and I am really going to miss it! Hopefully someone I know will have their wedding/reception here as well because I am already dying to go back!
My wedding at the Ivy Room was perfect! The venue is beautiful - we had our ceremony and cocktail hour in the courtyard, and the reception was inside. Both areas are awesome - very romantic. The staff were wonderful to work with too. They were so nice and professional. We planned most of the wedding out of state - but everything was so easy with the Ivy Room staff. They also did a wonderful job with all our other vendors. I highly recommend the Ivy Room to anyone who is looking for a romantic venue with outdoor space in the heart of Chicago!
MAGICAL. There is no other way to describe the Ivy Room. After pouring over dozens and dozens of venues in Chicago and the burbs online, this was only place I was interested in getting married. Visiting and seeing the place in person, and meeting Donna and Matt sealed the deal. This venue is class, class, class all the way. From the breathtaking courtyard and ballroom with french doors overlooking the courtyard, to the their outstanding vendor list, to Matt, Donna and Christy's invaluable guidance, this place is PERFECTION for the discriminating city bride who can't bear to get married in a generic banquet hall or hotel. And it's worth every penny. People can't stop talking about our wedding, and we owe a lot of that to the Ivy Room and the fantastic vendors Matt and Donna personally recommended -- Toast and Jam DJ Laura, I Do Films, Emily Johnston Anderson Photography (albeit indirectly through David Wittig --also amazing!), Cornelia McNamara Flowers, Berghoff, BCR events and Bruce Otto. Since our wedding, I actually miss this place--and am seriously hoping someone we know gets married there so I have an excuse to go back :).
P.S. -- for all you Ivy Room Brides dying to get married in the gorgeous courtyard, don't be devastated if it rains. I was so looking forward to my courtyard ceremony, but it rained and we had to go to plan B -- and I couldn't be happier. Everyone bent over backwards to make the ballroom look gorgeous and the lighting by Chicago Lighting Design really made everything look great. We opened the french doors to let a little twilight light in and provide a view of the dewy courtyard, and in the end, the indoor ceremony was very intimate and special. Inside or out, the Ivy Room is unbeatable!!
We got married at the Ivy Room and it was SPECTACULAR. The outdoor courtyard is amazing and we did not need any extra decorations for the ceremony or cocktail hr which was also outside. Matt and Donna are awesome about answering questions. The day of our wedding it was unclear if the weather would allow an indoor or outdoor ceremony and they were able to do a dual set up and then when the weather looked good, they moved everything outside.
We actually booked the venue without seeing it as we are from out of town, but working with the Ivy Room from afar was really easy. The reception room is amazing and does not need a lot of decorations either. Besides the lighting (gobo lighting, definitely recommended) we only had the centerpieces on the tables and the room looked great.
The rental fee is a bit on the expensive side, but don't let that deter you - we were able to pick our own caterer, bring in our own liquor from Binney's (which allowed us to save a ton of money), our own cake and desserts. B/c of all the options, though the rental fee is expensive, you can make up for it other ways. We did not feel that we had to cut corners anywhere else b/c of the fee. Because you can pick everything, you can really customize your wedding.
The ambiance was perfect. It was very warm and netural;Donna Albertson the venue director was a little difficult to work with initially but the actually wedding day she was fantastic!
