About Us

Couples can celebrate with their guests surrounded by chic modern elegance at The Kimpton Gray Hotel in Chicago, Illinois. The hotel occupies the historic 1894 New York Life Insurance building and features ornate Georgia gray marble and granite architecture and art-deco fixtures, while the contemporary decor and furniture gives the space an eclectic feel. The Kimpton Gray Hotel is available to host wedding ceremonies and receptions, with space for up to 280 guests.

Robie Room. Located on the second floor, the Robie Room can accommodate up to 100 guests for a cocktail reception and up to 60 banquet guests. Outfitted with a billiards table, the flexible game room is ideal for a semi-casual reception.

Boleo. With 4,000 square feet of space and located on the top floor, Boleo can accommodate up to 250 reception guests or 150 banquet guests. The retractable glass roof can transform this space from an indoor to an outdoor area, making it an ideal room for the ceremony. Guests can celebrate under the stars and enjoy views of the Chicago skyline—including a clear view of the Willis Tower.

Rookery Ballroom. With room for 160 reception guests and 170 banquet guests, the Rookery Ballroom offers 2,094 square feet of space. This space can also be split into two smaller rooms for more intimate events.

Alder Ballroom. Located on the top floor of the hotel, the Alder Ballroom is the largest event space at the hotel with 2,798 square feet of space. It can accommodate up to 280 reception guests, 220 banquet guests or 180 banquet guests with a dance floor. Contemporary chandeliers decorate the room, which includes large windows to provide a stunning view of the city.

Catering is provided by The Kimpton Gray Hotel. Couples can work with the personal service manager and executive chef to create the menu for the event. Service staff and bartending service is included with the wedding package. Other services included in the wedding package are:

The moment I told Veronica that we would not be having the main event at Kimpton Gray, she became completely unresponsive. I understand not receiving quite the level of service as a bride that is having the main event there, but found it rude that the team was completely uninterested in helping us as soon as they found out it would be smaller-scale. After several follow-up attempts with no response, we have given up on hosting our event at Boleo, which is too bad since the space is truly unique and beautiful. Be advised that responsiveness may be an issue if you are interested in having your event at Kimpton Gray. Hopefully they get the kinks worked out moving forward, as it is a newer venue.
