The First Look
Couples looking for a vintage wedding venue that's exciting, but still provides a level of intimacy, should look no further than The Lafayette Hotel, Swim Club & Bungalows in San Diego, California. The Southern California hotel has a rich history; built in grand colonial style in 1946, it's played the host to many famous guests.
When a couple chooses The Lafayette Hotel, Swim Club & Bungalows for their wedding, they have the choice of four sites on the magnificent hotel's 15,000 square feet. The hotel can accommodate 100 to 300 guests, depending on the site.
Mississippi Ballroom . The hotel's famous Mississippi Ballroom may look familiar; scenes from Tom Cruise's Top Gun were filmed in the ballroom. As the largest site on the property, the ballroom has a maximum capacity of 300 round tables with a dance floor.
The Conservatory . Located adjacent to the Weissmuller Pool and Veranda, the Conservatory features high ceilings, natural lighting and a garden-like atmosphere. The intimate location can accommodate 100 round tables, 180 standing reception guests and 150 seats for the ceremony.
West Courtyard . A cozy site for a small wedding or cocktail reception, the West Courtyard is the only location on the hotel's property that provides a private, outdoor wedding space. The Tiffany blue walls of the courtyard provide a brilliant framework for video and photo opportunities that couples will cherish forever.
Louisiana Ballroom . For couples with a smaller guest list, that still want a dance floor, the Louisiana Ballroom is the ideal choice for a ceremony with 100 or fewer guests. Couples that choose this ballroom have the option of using the East Courtyard for a cocktail reception.

We had an amazing experience for our wedding at the Lafayette! Our wedding had the perfect backdrop, which made for an amazing experience and great pictures. Our guests were all very impressed with the venue and the customer service in every department. Taylor was very responsive, helpful and great to work with through the whole process. The food was also amazing! The groom is a chef so this was very important to us. Chef Ryan went above and beyond to make our experience special. They exceeded our expectations in every way.
Unique venueReviewed on 4/18/2014 Nicole H
The Lafayette was the first and only place we visited when trying to find a venue. We loved that it was in the neighborhood where we live, and it was a great venue to have everything in one. We did our ceremony and reception there, and it was the hotel where guests stayed. Having everything together really made the process easy. The coordinator Julia was great to work with-- her calm presence throughout the planning process helped make it all easy. The food was excellent, and the whole night was amazing.

The wedding coordinator was AMAZING. She thought of everything and was willing to work with all of my special requests. On the night before the wedding when I realized the room they put me in did not have a full length mirror, she went out to IKEA and bought one for the room and had it installed the next morning so I could get ready.
