The Lafayette Hotel, Swim Club & Bungalows

We had the most PERFECT wedding at the Lafayette. We have always been fans of this local landmark, and , not gonna lie, not only was this one of the most affordable venues we could find, but the whole process from our first tour to our wedding and next day brunch was absolutely unforgettable. Our wedding coordinator Lisa made us feel like we were the only couple she was working with. The staff treated us like close friends. They were so happy and excited for us. They handled the spacing out of guest groups really well and were very COVID conscious. The setting was magical and fun. Our room was gorgeous and we were spoiled with a surprise from the hotel after our wedding. Our friends and family stayed at the hotel, which was affordable for everyone. The Lafayette walks this line between being this classic, hip, gorgeous landmark, and just feeling really comfortable and welcoming. We will be forever grateful to Lisa and her coworkers. It's such a warm space with warm staff. Say YES!

We really enjoyed working with the Lafayette on our wedding. We held our ceremony and reception with them. The conservatory was absolutely beautiful and eclectic for the ceremony, exactly what we wanted. Our reception in the Louisiana Ballroom was beautiful and the food was great. We had many out of town guests and locals who stayed at the hotel and enjoyed it very much. Several in-town guests even talked about coming for a staycation to take advantage of the beautiful pool. Our photos came out amazing with all the different backdrops that could be found around the hotel. A great time was had by all.

The Lafayette was such a fun place to host our wedding guests for the weekend, and also to have our welcome drinks the night before. The entire staff was professional, fun, and on top of it for everything! They even printed out the bus details for our hotel block so people had the info upon check-in. Our guests loved the pool, location, and historic setting, and the prices were very reasonable.

Lafayette Staff Members are the absolute BEST!!! We cannot express how grateful we are for how welcoming each staff member throughout the hotel made us, our family, and friends feel so welcome and comfortable during our stay. It truly made it difficult to say goodbye. Shoutouts to Lisa Kanemori, Mialani, Joseph Taumua, Krystal, Kane, Cass, Shirley, Ed and the entire support staff working this past weekend. We met with Lisa back in July 2019 to make wedding planning /reception arrangements at the hotel which was originally set for October 2020. The new hotel owners were kind enough to allow us to postpone for a year due to the pandemic. It has been an unexpected 2 year process that Lisa made sure to keep in constant communication with us to ensure everything was to go as planned. She is very organized and extremely thorough leaving us with little to no questions during the entire experience. Lisa's knowledge of the wedding/reception process was crucial in making everything smooth and effortless. Mialani was always a ray of sunshine whether it was via emails or in person. Joseph's welcoming demeanor and kind words were like a warm hug. Krystal was always more than willing to help out for anything we requested. Cass made sure everything for our reception and ceremony was set up with professional perfection. Thank you for allowing our family and friends set up and access the room when needed. Shirley (Aka Auntie Shirley) made sure my wife and I were well fed throughout the evening. Hope 46 restaurant: Heather, Amy were always attentive. The food provided for our reception received a plethora of kudos from all of our guests. The Halibut Filet constantly received rave reviews. Oh and the beans at breaksfast to die for! Our families wanted to take the entire pot home. The hospitality the hotel staff extended to us and to all of our family and friends was above and beyond anything anyone of us have experienced anywhere else, including from other five star hotels. Our family, friends, including me and my wife, will definitely be back! Keep rocking' it! Truly appreciate all the love and care the Lafayette Hotel team extended to our family and friends. If it were up to us, raises for all who worked this weekend!

I cannot say enough about how wonderful The Lafayette Hotel was during wedding planning. We booked The Lafayette as our venue pre-COVID. Lisa didn't even blink when we needed to drastically change our plans. We seriously couldn't have pulled off our wedding without her. The hotel is gorgeous, the food was delicious, and the staff are amazing. My wedding was everything I ever dreamed of thanks to Lisa and The Lafayette!

This was the perfect spot for our wedding! Lisa was amazing to work with from our initial meeting all the way till the day of and even after! She is super friendly, and easy to communicate with! The Lafayette is a unique location and offers a back in time feel and captures simpler times. I would suggest to a questionable person to stay open minded and wait til you see it for yourself! Easily accommodated our 150 guest list, room discounts were a bonus for many of our traveling guests, food was amazing and the ambiance of the ball room made the night! It was super affordable for our budget and we were still able to provide alcohol and non alcoholic beverages for our guests, there was definitely room for flexibility when it came to meeting our needs and preferences. We have no negative feedback from our wedding experience as did our guests who also enjoyed their time here. Once we saw this place we were done searching. The hotel hosts other events throughout the year and has continued to keep us as continued guests! We were thoroughly pleased and look forward to creating more memories here :)

The Lafayette was the most beautiful and perfect venue we could have asked for. We didn't have a specific aesthetic laid out for our wedding, so when we found the Lafayette we loved the idea of building around the beautiful space. There's already so much personality within the walls of the hotel that it didn't need a ton of work from us! Lisa was amazing to work with during the almost 1.5 year planning process. She was quick to answer any questions and was always helpful in filling any request we had. As we got closer to the wedding we also worked with Gillian who was just as upbeat and hardworking! They both helped our wedding to run so smoothly. We took over multiple parts of the hotel for the wedding, cocktail hour, and reception, as well as many rooms for our guests. We got so many compliments from our friends and family staying there! Then the weekend of the wedding we used the complimentary wedding suite as our getting ready room and had a TON of space. Overall it made for a beautiful wedding we will never forget.

Wow, just wow! I hosted my best friend's bridal shower at The Lafayette Hotel and it was nothing short of amazing. We had a Brunch and Bubbly en Blanc theme (brunch and champagne is a favorite of our bride.) We chose all white linens/decor and all our guests wore white. Lisa, the Catering Sales Manager was so helpful in setting up all the details leading up to our event. She was very accommodating and suggested an indoor event with the unpredictable weather in November. On the day of, I met Gillian, the Catering Coordinator and she was also great. The event ran smoothly and the food was delicious! We want to give a special thank you to Banquet Staff, Cass. She was attentive in our needs and made sure that we always had champagne bottles on deck. Thank you Lafayette Hotel staff for helping us shower our bride! We would definitely host another event here!

Walking into tour this venue was breathtaking. Not only was the staff incredible through this entire process but Lisa our sales manager was so helpful the whole year leading up to our wedding day. We actually stayed at the hotel prior to the event and after. We had several family members and friends stay during our wedding weekend. Every person from the front desk to the parking attendants was pleasant and so helpful. The maintenance staff went out of their way to help people coordinating my reception event make sure the ballroom was in pristine condition before I walked in to see everything. My husband and I are grateful to the hotel and catering staff for making our wedding day absolutely perfect. There was no stress involved in coordinating with the Lafayette. Lisa answered any and all questions in timely manner and was always available when I needed her help. I highly recommended this venue to anybody considering any type of event. Not only is the venue gorgeous but the customer service is unparalleled! Thank you for making our wedding day so memorable.

Lisa at the Lafayette handled things from start to finish for us and we couldn't be happier. From the arrangements and the staff to the quality of the room we were blown away. Beautiful setting, superior service, great food and excellent bar. Did I mention that they're more reasonable than most of the other hotels in town? This place is magical and I am so glad we had our wedding here.

The hotel was beautiful with an old Hollywood vibe! All of our guests loved relaxing at the pool area in the days leading up to the wedding. The Mississippi Ballroom was a perfect location for our reception. Plenty of room for our guests to move about and dance. Our sit down dinner food was tasty. We used the clamshell to display our wedding cake and groom’s cake. It was nice to have all of our guests in one spot since this was a destination wedding. My family rented a bungalow which was wonderful to have the space to store all the wedding decor and have a space for the groomsmen get ready in. We also rented the penthouse the night before the wedding for all of the girls to get ready in the morning of. It was great for pictures! And the food at the Hope 46 restaurant was delicious! We had our bridesmaids luncheon there the day before the wedding. Everything in one location was very convenient since we were from out of town. This was such a great place for a destination wedding!

We worked with Kara Elkins to host our Welcome Party/Rehearsal Dinner the night before our San Diego Zoo wedding, as well as the Day After Brunch. Kara was responsive and easy to work with. We met in person for the initial tour, and then did everything by e-mail afterwards. She always offered to speak on the phone if I wanted as well. For the Welcome Party we had the Old Town Buffet option and the food was great. In particular, the skirt steak was amazing, people kept going back for seconds and thirds. Service and bartenders were top notch as well. For example, my 12 year old cousin has a peanut allergy and asked if any of the desserts were safe for him to eat. One of the servers went to find out, but returned and told me she was unsure because the cakes were delivered from somewhere else. However, she asked the kitchen to make my cousin a dessert he could eat and brought it out to him! So nice and sweet and just going that extra mile. We had the Sunrise Brunch Buffet on Sunday, which is traditional breakfast food but was delicious as well (perfectly crispy bacon!). For both events we used the Conservatory area which is really pretty. They opened up the outdoor patio for us to use during the party which has a lovely view of the pool. It was easy and convenient to plan because set up, linens, chairs, tables, etc. are all included so we didn't have to worry about any of the extras. After choosing the food we basically showed up and had a wonderful time with all our guests. We also rented the bridal get ready suite the day of the wedding to get makeup and hair done. It is well lit and has AC, as well as extra seating for us to hang out and have girl time (at one point we had the makeup artist + 2 assistants, me, 7 bridesmaids, and 2 moms in there). They also brought orange juice in for us (we could've had mimosas but declined as we'd all been drinking too much the night before, haha). We stayed there for our wedding weekend as well, as did most of our out of town guests. We booked the larger suite for ourselves so the groomsmen could get ready there, and that worked out well. Our guests loved the hotel, it is historic and has an old timey boutique feel that is unique. Kara left us a card with some chocolate and wine when we got back after our wedding, that was a nice touch. Overall, highly recommend the Lafayette, our wedding weekend went perfectly and all our guests had a wonderful experience.

The staff at The Lafayette were absolutely wonderful on helping us plan our big day! Lisa Was exceptional and we couldn’t be happier with how amazing and smooth everything was for us. They assisted with making our wedding day a day we will never forget. We highly recommend The Lafayette Hotel for your special occasion!!!

Our daughters wedding ceremony & reception was held at the Lafayette Hotel in Aug. 2018. We were very pleased with Lisa's (Catering Mgr.) professionalism in all the planning stages. This venue is an older hotel however; vintage is what make this place so special. Our guests were impressed the way everything came together. The Mississippi Room was stunning with it's large clam shell background. However; the Conservatory for the ceremony was too hot during that hot summer day. The food was good as well as the staffs services. We had a few short comings but overall it was near perfect. We would give this venue a 4 Star and highly recommend it for your event.

After multiple weekends of touring wedding reception venues we came across the Lafayette Hotel and we fell in LOVE! This hotel has so much charm, class, and extremely professional employees. Planning a wedding is super stressful; even for us laid back San Diegans. The great thing about the Lafayette is that it's inclusive. The wedding packages come with catering, drinks, service staff, up lighting, photo booth, room blocks, an AWESOME day of coordinator, pretty much everything you need to make a wedding happen. All of our guest were absolutely in love with everything about this hotel. If you are getting married in San Diego I highly recommend touring this hotel. If you choose this venue you will have the pleasure of working with Sunny, the day of wedding coordinator, and you'll be in great hands.

I recently coordinated a wedding at The Lafayette and it was absolutely wonderful! The first time I did a walkthrough I fell in love with the space. They have a lot of great event spaces, very unique and eclectic. The staff was wonderful to work with throughout the process and day of everyone was attentive and friendly. From our main point of contact to the servers and maintenance staff - everyone was ready to lend a helping hand and make the wedding run smooth throughout the entire day. I will absolutely be recommending The Lafayette to my clients and I look forward to working many more weddings and events there again in the future! We had an amazing experience for our wedding at the Lafayette! Our wedding had the perfect backdrop, which made for an amazing experience and great pictures. Our guests were all very impressed with the venue and the customer service in every department. Taylor was very responsive, helpful and great to work with through the whole process. The food was also amazing! The groom is a chef so this was very important to us. Chef Ryan went above and beyond to make our experience special. They exceeded our expectations in every way.

I picked this hotel to use as our hotel accommodation for our guest. I spoke with Andrew and he was just amazing. He helped me with solidifying the cheapest price for my guest and even extending my deadline for my guest to reserve their room for the special pricing!! He was very quick to answer all of my questions and request. I wanted to surprise our bridesmaid and groomsmen with some food and drinks while they wait for the reception to start and we were taking our bride and groom pictures. So Andrew helped me organize it. We dropped off all the snacks, drinks/alcohol before the wedding. And Andrew and Bill organized the staff to have it placed in one of the groomsmens room while he was out. They settled all the food and drinks out nicely. We told our wedding party and a few others to meet at that room. They were highly surprised. Bill had our Groomsman call the restaurant for the room service I ordered the day before when they were ready for the real food! The hotel itself was busy with other wedding. And even though I didn't have my wedding there they treated me and my guest as if we were!

The Lafayette was the first and only place we visited when trying to find a venue. We loved that it was in the neighborhood where we live, and it was a great venue to have everything in one. We did our ceremony and reception there, and it was the hotel where guests stayed. Having everything together really made the process easy. The coordinator Julia was great to work with-- her calm presence throughout the planning process helped make it all easy. The food was excellent, and the whole night was amazing.

The wedding coordinator was AMAZING. She thought of everything and was willing to work with all of my special requests. On the night before the wedding when I realized the room they put me in did not have a full length mirror, she went out to IKEA and bought one for the room and had it installed the next morning so I could get ready.
