The Laiken by Walters Wedding Estates

This venue is incredibly corrupt and unprofessional. It’s clear as day they had someone internally write the review below mine to try and cover up the bad ones they’ve started getting recently. If you compare their 5 star reviews they are all suspiciously written in the same tone. Don’t fall for it.

My fiancé and I recently toured The Laiken on Lake Travis, and we are beyond thrilled to have chosen it for our wedding! From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the breathtaking lake views and the renderings which depicted an elegant yet relaxed atmosphere. The venue’s natural beauty, with the sunset over the water, is going to create the most romantic backdrop imaginable. I know they have had some construction delays and weddings had to be moved, but I am sticking with them because this is going to be worth the wait! The Laiken team was very communicative and transparent, which we really appreciated. Unfortunately, there were delays outside of their control (town/city related).

DO NOT BOOK HERE. DO NOT BOOK HERE. I cannot say this enough. They lied and lied and lied!!! They cancelled weddings that had been booked for a year and a half. They told brides less than 2 months before their weddings they were cancelled. They made every bride sign an NDA just to get their money back. THEY ARE GETTING AWAY WITH THIS!!!! DO NOT LET WALTERS WEDDING ESTATES RUN ANYMORE. HORRIBLE COMPANY. HORRIBLE EMPLOYEES THAT LIED OVER AND OVER. WORDS CANNOT EXPRESS HOW AWFUL THIS PLACE IS. DIDNT EVEN OFFER ANYTHING TO THE WEDDINGS THEY CANCELLED. DONT TRUST ANYONE YOU TALK TO THERE.

This venue is a complete fraud. The images you see are just renderings. It’s been under construction for years and will not be ready anytime soon - do not listen to them tell you otherwise. I say this as someone who booked with The Laiken in May of 2024 for a September 2025 wedding. I had just gotten engaged and was so excited to begin the process and secure a venue. Like many others, I fell in love with the "rendering” of the property and the promise of it being ready by Spring. We were told by the sales coordinator not to worry about the construction because they had multiple weddings booked for April, so it had to be completed before then. There is no way I would have booked if they had not given this reassurance. Fast forward 9 months to February. I thought it was suspicious that during all this time we’ve received zero updates on the progress of the construction. We drove by in December and noticed little to no improvement from what we saw 6 months before. It’s basically still a pile of dirt aside from the "villas" which have nothing to do with the wedding property. When I called Walters Wedding Estates main line after not receiving answers from our personal coordinator, they informed that all weddings up to June 2025 are now cancelled. This was news to me. When I voiced concerns, they refused to provide a refund since they are now claiming “the property should be ready in August”... this information wasn't shared until I forced the issue. For obvious reasons, I no longer believe anything they say and cannot run the risk of it being cancelled just months before our wedding in September. This company is predatory and has completely shattered the vision I had of my wedding experience, along with many other brides. I wish I had known then what I do now.
