My husband and I got married at the Links in November 2019, and we can't recommend this venue to others in good conscience. I go into the whole story below, but in short, their management is a mess. Links management made our planning process st...ressful and confusing by letting go of an amazing coordinator for a cheaper, inexperienced alternative and having a shocking absence of communication through the process.
We visited the Links because it's a pretty venue, but we chose them because of their then-wedding-coordinator Karen Pennington. She has an amazing reputation in the local wedding industry and a rich history of happy couples. Her warm demeanor assured us that she would care about our wedding day as much as we did, so we signed on with the Links.
Unfortunately, halfway into our planning process, the Links chose to let go of Karen in favor of filling the role with their contracted catering company (The Carriage House). The Links announced this by making Karen send us an email, with no information on how the new contact would handle the transition. Links management themselves never reached out to us about this. We had our food tasting scheduled at the time, and the new contact (let's call her Jane) wasn't reaching out to us at all to confirm this meeting or any other planning details. So, we gave Jane a call to review our progress and confirm our meeting. She seemed unfamiliar with the details of our event and literally hung up the phone on us. We researched Jane's background with wedding coordination, and it turned out she had none. This, combined with reviews that Jane was botching weddings, had us very worried.
We did have our tasting with Jane, but never heard from her again. We had a meeting with the Links general manager to express our concerns, to which he essentially said "don't worry." We were losing confidence in the Links, so not wanting to lose all of our planning progress, we hired Karen on as our independent coordinator. We needed someone experienced to advocate for our event's success. We never did hear from Jane again, so I'm not sure what ever happened there.
I'm assuming other couples had the same concerns we did, because the Links awkwardly signed Karen back on (essentially as a freelancer) just to finish the weddings she had started. Even though this situation was confusing and awkward, Karen is a gem and executed our planning flawlessly.
HOWEVER a week before our wedding, the Links again terminated their agreement with Karen. They would let her be there on the day for coordination but wouldn't let her do the last minute aspects of planning. They also fired their general manager before this with no plan for a new one (and never communicated it to us). So, a week before our wedding we were left with no actual contact from the Links (no general manager, coordinator, or other kind of representative).
On the day of, Karen was there to run the event, but no one from the Links was present. Despite their shoddy management, the wedding ultimately turned out well, but only at the hands of Karen.
Since their agreement is over, Karen isn't there in any capacity anymore, and I honestly don't know if any coordinator is (since no one ever reached out us). Due to their bad staffing decisions and nonexistent communication, I can't recommend the Links as a wedding venue.
