We are so happy you’re here! We are a full service florist, event designer, and wedding coordinator based in Smithfield, Virginia and traveling well beyond. No matter what aspect of your wedding you need our help with, we are ready to turn your vision into reality. We have over 15-years of experience finding ways to reflect the hosts throughout the design plan, and believe that no two events should be the same.
Design: Designing events is how we got our start. We are passionate about getting to know each couple that we design for and understanding what is most important to them. Each event should be unique, and design is a great way to do that. Our passion for making events true representations of our clients and their personalities is unmatched by any other designer. Our goal is to create an event in which your guests see personal touches of you and your fiancé throughout the décor. Don’t have a vision yet? That’s ok, too! We love helping clients discover what they want their event to look and feel like.
Flowers: Flowers are such a staple at any wedding, and what better way to let them shine than to have them fully integrated into your design plan? We aren’t just a florist, and we aren’t just a designer. Being both allows us to create stunning floral arrangements that are truly one of a kind and compliment the décor seamlessly. While we do offer floral services as a stand alone option, we love being able to seamlessly tie design and flowers together for our clients. This allows us to create continuity throughout the event.
Coordination: Our coordination package finds the happy medium between month-of coordination and full-service planning. We believe that every couple should enjoy their engagement season, and month-of coordinating often doesn’t allow for that. We are pleased to offer an option that begins 60-days before to better serve our clients. It includes everything you may need from timeline creation, vendor management and referrals, rehearsal services, and two Coordinators to direct everyone and make sure everything goes smoothy.
The Formal Wear Boutique: We offer a wide variety of formal attire and accessories. We have over 200 wedding dresses (cosigned and new), as well as more than 500 formal dresses that range from prom dresses to mother-of-the-bride dresses, and everything in between. We are also proud to offer tuxedos and suites from Jim’s Formal Wear, both for rent and for purchase. Need accessories? We’ve got you covered there, as well. We have shoes that vary in size from child to adult, formal jewelry, handbags, and more.
The Gift Shop: Our gift shop boutique is filled with unique gifts and treasures, many of which are locally made. We have a large selection of gifts perfect for parents, wedding party members, brides, and grooms too!

This was by far the best purchase out of all of our vendors. They take care of you so greatly. My coordinators Ashley & Ashley were absolutely amazing and handled everything perfectly. It gave me so much more time to enjoy my day with them taking care of everything, and that is super important! If you’re gonna get one thing for your wedding, get the main event by Emily!
Everything involving The Main Event by Emily is amazing!! We went through The Main Event by Emily for design / flowers and day-of coordinator. From the initial meeting to the final setup, the entire process was seamless and enjoyable. Emily took my vague vision for the wedding and truly transformed the venue, bringing it to life in a magnificent way with beautiful bouquets, center pieces, and decorations. Ashley as our coordinator was super communicative, well organized, detail-oriented, and calm under pressure (even in the insane 96 degree heat!). All the logistics and details with the vendors were handled flawlessly by Ashley and her brilliant assistant, Tiffany. Our wedding was absolutely perfect thanks to The Main Event by Emily!!
We used their design and coordinating packages and they were both worth every Penny we spent! Alanna was a joy and Emily really helped bring our vision to life!!! I would and will recommend to everyone who needs help with this!!
WOW! Emily & her team were absolutely AMAZING! We had a consultation with them and they were able to give us exactly what we envisioned for our wedding day! Every Pinterest Board Pin was a spitting image of what Emily and her team provided! I can not recommend them enough! My mother balled her eyes out seeing all of the beautiful decor! It was absolutely perfect! Our guests loved the flowers, the bouquets and boutonnieres! Simply everything was perfect! The amazing details, seating chart and all the small things that would go over my head were done in full! Emily has a beautiful spirit and I felt so comfortable with her! She made our day absolutely beautiful! THANK YOU SO MUCH! For everything, we appreciate you!
I used The Main Event by Emily for my bouquets & boutonnieres! The flowers were absolutely beautiful! Due to them being so busy, I had arranged for my order to be picked up instead of delivered. I called them the day before to let them know what time we planned to pick up the flowers and they had them ready. I highly recommend booking the for your floral needs!

Emily's design was everything I could have asked for and more. The flowers were gorgeous, the tables were set how I had dreamed, everything was just how I had envisioned it. I am so happy I went with them.
My fiancé and I worked with Emily to secure table overlays and a few other rental items needed for our wedding day. Emily provided amazing customer service and affordable options for us to choose from. Her and her team's friendly demeanor and A+ professionalism helped reduce the stress of planning , postponing, and re-planning a wedding during the pandemic. I would definitely use this company again.
When we first sat down with The Main Event we had 2 separate meetings, one for design and one for planning. For planning, we decided to do partial planning to ease my stress. I ended up having a lot of time with COVID, so looking back, I would have just done coordination services. We enjoyed working with our planner, but at times it did seem like she had a lot on her plate. During our ceremony and reception, the whole coordination team was wonderful. They really were pretty much invisible, but got everything we needed before we even knew we needed it. It was also wonderful to have someone to hold my train for pictures and who knew how to cut the wedding cake! I would definitely recommend them for month of coordination services. They really made our ceremony and reception smooth and seamless. We also used The Main Event for decorations. We met with Emily when we first started planning, and with COVID everything ended up changing. Emily was very flexible with us changing the entire design about a week before when we finally had a new venue lined up. And, she really delivered! The flowers and decorations were beautiful! She was able to incorporate things that our families gave us seamlessly with the items that we had picked out, and it looked gorgeous. I would definitely recommend their decoration and floral services!

Wonderful! Emily, Amber and Ashley were so great! Emily was recommended to me by a coworker and I met her at a bridal show and she was just lovely! I happened to be in Smithfield and stopped by (not knowing that she has a whole process for this) and she took me back to her office and walked me through her questionnaire and was very patient with me since I didn't have all the right answers yet. Her rates are AMAZING, I honestly couldn't believe them and she really helped make my dreams come true. Emily took care of the decor, flowers(including a stunning flower crown), linens, and coordination. She really is a one stop shop and shes great at what she does! I knew nothing about hosting a wedding or picking out decor or any of it and she guided me every step of the way and with the sweetest demeanor!

Emily & her team did a beautiful job for our wedding. I wanted to keep it really simple and just use greenery. She was really helpful guiding us with what types to pick out (we ended up going with different types of eucalyptus). At the last minute, we added a 10 ft garland for the ceremony arch and she didn't bat an eye. Had we know about her sooner, we would have used her coordinating services also. Thanks so much!
When I first met Emily at a bridal expo she had an amazing personality. We met with her and told her everything we wanted for the day of the wedding. She told us to give her a few days and she would email us a detailed estimate. It only took a day. When I saw the price I about had a heart attack. My mom was the one who did the negotiations and got the final price. We met with our day of coordinator a few times even though we were told only once.
The money was well spent. We had no worries the week of the wedding. They made sure to get in touch with anyone and everyone for us. They were always prompt and on time. The day of the wedding Emily and her team arrived she got to work. Before I knew it my vision was coming to life. The day of coordinator, Wendy was organized and making sure everyone was in their rightful place while still being the sweetest human ever. After getting ready I peaked out to see the reception space and it was completely done and beautiful an hour ahead of schedule.
I was so pleased with their services that I would hire them in a heartbeat for even the smallest of events.

Perfect! She helps plan your wedding, gets all your rental items for you, and decorates your entire wedding ceremony and reception. She decorated my wedding in beach theme and it was absolutely perfect and beautiful, I got so many compliments from my guests about how great it looked!
