Pros:
- Beautiful, spacious historical venue that was perfect for our classic Hollywood themed wedding.
- Good audio set-up for both speaking during the ceremony and DJ music during the reception. Not ideal for live bands, but the venue people warn you about that upfront.
- Cool lighting options for different party vibes, including a spotlight! One of the venue people helps to run these controls.
- Helpful, experienced crew during walkthroughs, rehearsals and the big day.
- Freedom of catering choice.
Cons:
- The primary point of contact for contracting, arranging walkthroughs, etc. was sometimes hard to work with. She was slow to respond to emails, often requiring multiple follow-ups. When doing things by phone, she insisted on calling one of the brides directly rather than working with our planner.
- You have to use one of their 3 vendor partners for alcohol. The one we chose ultimately provided good bartenders on the big day, but all 3 were hard to communicate and coordinate with in the months before the wedding, potentially because they knew we had limited choices.
This venue was absolutely gorgeous, and we got some many compliments from our guests. The price was reasonable, and the owner Linda was great to work with. She even gave us a discount due to me being active military on some of the 'extras' like the marquee and poster cases, which made our day extra special. She also worked with me on getting my decor there early when there was a coordinator mishap. The onsite DJ was also GREAT! He kept the party going, knew what songs to play to get everyone dancing, and played all our must haves. Definitely recommend this venue.
This place was awesome. Our guests were very complimentary. It has a fun vibe & really works well for a wedding reception. I strongly recommend this site. You will be happy. We also hired our DJ they this site & that worked out wonderfully, too.
Venue is beautiful and unique! Doesn’t need much decoration! In house DJ really brought it!
This venue was absolutely PERFECT for our big day! We've been married almost two months now, and our guests still talk about how amazing the venue was.
Linda and Jason were both incredibly helpful during the entire planning process--from vendor suggestions, to explaining layout options, to being patient with my thousands of questions. When the big day came, everything went off without a hitch.
I would also 1000000% recommend using their sound system and DJ. The music surrounds the space without being overpowering or too loud. My husband has a sensitivity to sound, so we needed music to fill the space without feeling like we were at a rock concert. This was perfect!
We could not have asked for a better space for our wedding.
When I 1st saw the venue I immediately fell in love with the historic value & beautiful interior of the site. I was impressed w/ the lighting & the music part during the venue tour. Linda let us know that if we chose to add on the cost of her DJ, we could then & only then use the venue’s built in speakers and equipment. After she showed us a preview of the lights & music during the tour, we couldn't imagine bringing in our own DJ and having all his equipment taking up space where the ceremony and reception would take place. Two weeks before the wedding the DJ made his first contact with us. We filled out his 2 forms & included all the details for the songs we wanted played during the ceremony and reception. We also used the majestic metro's website to select songs we wanted played from their playlist per his request and provided him with a flashdrive with all songs that were important to us. The day of the wedding the ceremony guest seating begins, the DJ plays the song we had selected for dinner time while people are being seated for the ceremony. This was erroneous because the song was dinner specific, so it did not make sense. The mother, groom, deadno, walk down the aisle but the songs we selected were not played. It is my turn to walk down the aisle & he plays the dinner song again, I freeze in embarrassment when he abruptly cuts the music off when a guest tells him it is the wrong song. All guests stare at me as I wait for the right song to start playing-the DJ is scrambling through his papers complaining to a guest that he had too many papers. The DJ asked my guest to remind him what the song that should be playing that very moment. There is awkward silence as everyone waits. Remember that we had filled out the venue's forms beforehand with all the key songs &even provided a flash drive w/ labeled music. The ceremony begins & when it is time to light the unity candle, the song we chose for that is not played.silence. The ceremony ends & the song he was supposed to play as we exit the stage never plays...silence. The DJ was supposed to announce us as a couple, he never does. The DJ was to dedicate two different songs to two different guests of honor but only ever dedicated one song to one of the guests leaving the other guest feeling left out. Errors like this continued on for the rest of the night. The DJ is supposed to lead the events throughout the reception ensuring a smooth fun night, yet he remained silent never announcing the key moments. Because he didn’t announce those key moments most guests missed the cake cutting. He made the event feel disorganized &awkward after we spent a lot of money ensuring we had the best of everything. I felt that the DJ ruined so many special moments throughout the night for us. I feel really disappointed in the venue since that was their DJ. When I let Linda know after the wedding, there was no real sense of regret on her part. Her response was that she had always received good comments on her DJs which felt like she was invalidating our experience. She even questioned why I had tipped her employees if the DJ had been so bad, my response was that we don't stiff people &the tips were meant for the other two individuals working the event. If I were to redo the wedding, I would choose a newer venue with employees and managers who could dedicate themselves to a successful event. With as much money that goes into paying for a wedding you really need to choose a venue & people that you can trust.
This venue is a very unique spot to celebrate your big day! The architecture is exquisite and having a DJ and lighting effects included in the price was a big plus for us. One thing to keep in mind is that there is no designated parking for this venue and there are restrictions on open flames, sparklers and confetti. Other than that, this is truly a gem in the heart of downtown and a beautiful place to get married.
Great communication, got back with us very quickly. Detailed description of what you were getting during phone conferences.
Linda and Jason at the Majestic Metro were so great to work with! I put together my wedding in a short 3 months and they were there with me every step of the way. They had great vendor suggestions (Master Chef Catering does a great job coordinating with Jason) and they were always willing to be there at the location to meet me and answer questions. Having my wedding in an unconventional space was SO AMAZING. People are still talking about it, saying it was the most fun wedding they had ever been to. We went along with the movie theme and made our own silent movie about how we met and we premiered it at the wedding! The name of our film "Jason + Lauren, a Love Story" was up on the marquis and everything! We also made our own movie posters to put in the poster cases. Everything fell into place, and I was SO happy!
This was such a gorgeous venue! We had both our ceremony and reception here and everything went smoothly. All of the staff involved were very professional and helpful. We are so happy we chose this unique Houston gem for our vintage Hollywood inspired theme :)
Overall, Majestic Metro is a great venue. The space is beautiful and requires minimal decoration. There’s natural separation of spaces, which allows for easy flow from cocktail hour to seated dinner. The DJ, which came included with the venue, was fantastic. Jason, the site manager, was a joy to work with. He answered all of our questions with patience, asked us questions we hadn’t thought of, and he (along with his team) ensured our event was perfect.
We did have a few issues leading up to the event that we unfortunately cannot overlook. Firstly, the venue was renovated and a number of high top built in tables removed. While the renovation allows for much more useable space, we were not informed. I had built my floral plan around those tables being there and had to scramble to change it Secondly, we had significant issues getting a signed contract from Linda. Overall communication with Linda was difficult and created unneeded stress in the final weeks before our wedding. Emails were often unanswered, or the question punted to Jason. Finally, we never receiving our deposit back, nor did we receive any communication regarding why we would not be receiving our deposit.
We would recommend the Majestic Metro as a reception venue, but would encourage couples to understand that it would be best to communicate with Jason rather than Linda.
One of a kind venue. Beautiful! Linda and Jason were easy to work with. Would have liked a little more leeway on preferred vendors and the lighting while awesome when we checked the venue the day before, was not as good the night of. I would definitely recommend the venue.
We visited many venues in the city, but fell in love with the Majestic after their open house. It’s a beautiful, historic space, which added character and offered something different for our reception to make it truly memorable. Other deciding factors included the transparent pricing, the ability to choose our caterer, and BYOB. The owner is also a dream to work with. We had a lovely reception and our guests still comment on how fun and different our wedding was.
I am FINALLY getting the chance to write about how our truly wonderful our experience at The Majestic Metro was for our wedding. Linda Warwick and staff were an absolute delight to work with from the very beginning of planning. After having a mishap with our original venue closing without notice I came into contract with Linda to possibly have our reception at the Majestic Metro, not only was Linda very responsive and accommodating from the beginning she was able to put any fears or stresses I had aside from out initial meeting to the day of our wedding, making our big day even more perfect than I could imagine.
If you are looking to for a unique venue that all of your guest will continuously be in awe of Majestic Metro is your place! I strongly wanted to have a feel that was different than the typical ballroom wedding and the Majestic Metro did not disappoint, whether is be the one of kind decor that the theater has on its own (it's an historic building), the outstanding lighting/sound system (DJ is included too) or spacious amenities (who doesn't love a 2 tiered dance floor) our special day will forever be unforgettable.
Again, I just wanted to reiterate how wonderful Linda and team is as we are still getting complements from our guests almost a year later. I wouldn't hesitate to coming back here for another event and will always recommend this place for any one that is looking for a very stress-free wedding experience/
My fiance and I were looking into venues in down town Houston. A friend told us to check out Majestic Metro. Mrs. Warwick was easy to reach, great at communication and a very sweet lady. The moment we walked into the venue, we were in awe. We knew this was the place for our wedding. The venue is beautiful inside, the flow is easy, the sound system is awesome. The best is the history that comes with the venue. It's got city life with a glam touch. The price is fantastic. No hidden extra fees, pretty straight forward. Our wedding day went exactly like we imagined. Jason was the venue manager, he is such a cool dude. Even came and hung out with us after the wedding. Our wedding didn't require much decoration because the venue is beautiful itself. We also love the surrounding area. There is plenty of nightlife around, the location was perfect for us. I would recommend this venue to everyone.
I couldn't imagine having my wedding anywhere other than the Majestic Metro. It was absolutely perfect from beginning to end. Linda and Jason were a pleasure to work with. The guests couldn't stop commenting on how original, fun, and absolutely gorgeous the venue was. Peter and I had the time of our lives. Thank you Majestic Metro!
Perfect venue for my Gatsby-themed venue. It's unique and boasts so much personality, it truly made my wedding a dream.
Okay, I am FINALLY getting the chance to write about how AMAZING our experience at The Majestic Metro was for our wedding. Linda Warwick was an absolute delight to work with from the very beginning of planning to rent the space. Her energy and infectious enthusiasm made us smile every time. And during the celebration, Jason made everything run so smoothly with such a calm and assuring demeanor. The place is STUNNING and very affordable. So please take this high praise as genuine. And I'd be remiss not to thank Michael and his team at Master Chef Catering for the food that people STILL rave about to this day. All this made our day absolutely perfect!
My daughter had a wedding at the Majestic Metro this October. We were very happy with this venue. Jason was very accessible throughout the entire process. We communicated often and he was always there to talk. He handled every question with patience and was very willing to help in every way he could. He was accommodating to all of our requests and helped make sure every detail was attended to and that the day was smooth and stress free for everyone involved.
The venue was absolutely beautiful and could stand alone without any additional decorations. The ornate designs of the theatre made decorating easy and still appear ‘majestic’. Everyone commented on the ‘Old Hollywood’ feel of the building. The atmosphere of the place was completely magical. The acoustics and lighting were beautiful and made for a stunning and unforgettable event.
While the parking at the Majestic Metro was limited, there is a public parking lot across the street available for rental. Overall, we could not have been happier with our choice to use the Majestic Metro for this memorable occasion.
We held both my ceremony and reception in the Majestic Metro on Set 5. 2015. I could not have been happier with how everything turned out. Everyone was amazing. The venue ended up looking amazing and I know all of my guests had a really great time. I would definitely recommend the Majestic Metro for any type of event.
This venue is definitely the most unique one I've ever seen. The theater is beautiful and requires minimal decorations, which was a big plus for me. My guests are still commenting on the space, saying how different and cool the Majestic was. The people at the Majestic were super helpful. Whenever I had any questions, they were very quick to answer. When I wanted to change the start time to the reception two weeks from the event, they accommodated my wishes. I have no complaints about the Majestic Metro at all. I would absolutely have my reception there again!
First time we came to this venue we were so impressed. All the guests kept raving how beautiful and unique this venue was! The owners Gary, Linda and Jason are so sweet and accommadating! We had our wedding reception on a Saturday night, awesome downtown location and price payed is worth so much more! The music package is the icing on the cake! We had the best night of our lives!
I am not a person who does many reviews or gives such high marks when I do participate in doing reviews, but for my wedding I had some of the most talented vendors and this vendor was tops. My husband and I used this venue for our Wedding Reception in October, 2014. This historic building is not only beautiful on its own, but fit our theme perfectly and doesn't require a lot of decor. So if you want to keep your decor cost to a minimum, this is your place. They have an amazing lighting system and DJ that is included in the cost of the venue rental. The DJ was awesome and played the music that we wanted to keep people on the dance floor...even the little kids had a blast dancing and was very accommodating in sharing the music by allowing my husbands band play a spotlighted set in the middle of the evening. Working with Jason and Linda was extremely easy. Linda is such an easy person to work with and talk to she went above and beyond the call of duty, I had a vendor issue that had me beyond stressed out in the last 2-3 weeks before our wedding day and she stepped in and let me vent and was able to get me to calm down. Jason manages the building and was extremely easy to work with, he made sure that everything on the venues end was in place to make sure my event ran seamless and perfect. We are still getting complements from our guests. If the need arises for another party, I wouldn't hesitate to coming back here.
We held our wedding here, the venue was beautiful and they did work with me as much as they could but they did not take credit cards and that made things tricky to start with. After we worked that out every vendor we chose had to be approved and submit paper work. it seemed like a bigger hassle than it needed to be. Although it is in a theater all the little things that make a theater wedding special like posters, the marque or the movie screen were an extra cost to use. Which after what we paid to rent the venue I though it should have been included. Also no parking is available for guest and with a wedding downtown that made it an extra expense for all the guest.
My husband and I had our engagement here on March 30th and had an absolutely fantastic time. The venue was just recently renovated and has a stellar interior that screams old Hollywood. We were able to set up a projector and show some clips from our favorite films throughout the night which meant a lot to us. The space had ample room for everyone involved and the dance floor was visible and easily accessible.
The staff was great. The owner Lewis was very attentive and I was quite impressed by his handyman James who did an amazing job as sort of an unofficial wedding coordinator. We had a minor issue with our DJ, but the Metro did an amazing job following up with us and making sure we were happy.
FYI for any future wedding couples, be sure to figure out parking. We rented the lot across the street for only $300. Trust me, you don't want to have your guests paying for their spots.
I recently used the majestic metro for my wedding and I've received so many compliments from our guests. The venue is extremely unique and tied together our vintage theme perfectly.
Louis (who you will work with when booking the venue and planning your wedding) is very nice and is prompt on returning phone calls and answering any questions you have about the venue.
One thing to note is that there are certain vendors that they have arrangements with and you can't use outside vendors - for example, I was told that if I wanted a photobooth, they had one approved vendor for that. It didn't end up being a problem, but is something to check out if you already have some vendors lined up.
Louis and his team made the night perfect and I wouldn't change a thing. Definitely recommend this venue!
Love the venue, got great compliments, it was painful to organize all of the different vendors, and they waited to the last day to give me all the nickel and dime bills. Do not believe the estimate he gives you when you go in, it came out to be about the same amount as a normal venue, but it is awesome and photographs great!!
Absolutely loved this vendors (and all the vendors recommended) Took care of everything, as well as offered great advice. Price is wonderful, the inclusions are wonderful. I also HIGHLY suggest using the vendor Louis suggests. The week of as well as the day of they took care of everything, and we had no worries. They all have worked together for 25 some odd years, so they handle it while all you worry about it getting married. Costs are kept low as well, since the table, chairs, dj and lighting is included. Also, your decor budget can stay low since its so decorated already. However, do make sure to ask about all costs some were sprung on us last minute.
Definitely recommend. :)
The Majestic is a beautiful and unique venue. I have only great things to say about them. We had a lovely wedding and have great memories.
You can bring in all your own vendors, but they will recommend vendors if you ask them to. I would recommend using TJ's Catering if you book at Majestic. They do a lot of business there and pretty much take care of all the details. They are basically day of wedding coordinators. I also would recommend using Mandolas for wholesale liquor as well. They were extremely affordable!
The venue is a bit on the high priced side, they do offer lighting and the DJ services. I think it was well worth it though, as you save a ton of money bringing in your own vendors and also using whole sale liquor companies.
My fiance and I were looking for something different than the ordinary. The Majestic Metro is gorgeous and a very unique space. However, I felt like if we had questions they were ignored and I had several other vendors mention they had a difficult time getting in contact with the management. We very rarely got the attention we needed unless we were being told no.
