The following review is a little long, but I really wanted to highlight just how positive our experience was every step of the way. However, I can also sum up the Makoy Center in three words.
Classy. Professional. Affordable.
We had a MARVELO...
US experience. The Burgundy room perfectly suited our needs. The venue itself was spacious, simple, and classy. They provided additional lighting and candles for centerpieces which made the room warm and inviting. Multiple guests told us that the reception was quite elegant.
The food was excellent, as noted by many guests. They offer a variety of affordable and customizable meal options, all prepared in-house. We went with the lasagna from the Pasta Buffet and the lemon chicken piccata from the Silver Buffet. They also readily accommodated our guests with dietary restrictions.
Above all, the service and attention we received was excellent. Besides being just nice people, Matt and Clay were easy to work with, clearly explaining all our options and trying to find which packages worked best for us. It was clear that they were never trying to upsell us on anything; they were forthcoming about all prices and honest about what was essential for us versus what were bells and whistles. That being said, they do offer a wide variety of additional decorations and linens. We preferred the simple route, but you have the option to jazz up your place settings. They were easy to get a hold of if we had questions and all communication was prompt.
At the reception itself, we had an event captain, Nick, who made sure the entire evening ran smoothly, as well as a team of servers. Nick was awesome to work with! Kind, responsive, professional, an eye for detail, and good about checking in with us throughout the night to make sure the event went smoothly and we were having a great time. We were most impressed by how he personally tended to every special request we had. Everyone we interacted with on staff that night was friendly.
Finally, some added perks of using the Makoy Center:
1) Unlike some other venues, there are no required vendors, though they do have suggestions if you're looking for options.
2) You can bring in your own decorations the day before and the staff will set them up and tear them down for you. All of that is coordinated with your event captain.
3) Their prices are very reasonable, but you're not skimping on service, food, or decoration quality.
Our reception was all we had hoped for. We had an awesome time. Our guests had an awesome time. Working with the Makoy Center staff was easy and we're so happy we get to walk away from this experience with all happy memories.
