We selected the Metropolitan Club as an iconic wedding venue for our ceremony and reception for 200 and would recommend it! We were sold on Gina's transparency and directness in coordinating. Although our event coordinator changed 3 times, we were able to successfully execute our vision with Nancy. We are grateful to the staff for delicious happy hour snacks & dinner (it was one of the highlights of our wedding), beautiful views of Chicago's skyline, and Nancy working around our travel schedule as we planned the wedding remotely.
The Metropolitan Club is an absolutely stunning venue. The views are amazing and unforgettable! What surprised us the most was how good the food was too. A lot of our guests commented on how good it was, which you don’t always expect from wedding food! Overall I do recommend having your reception here simply because the space and venue are one of a kind. Also, for getting married in downtown Chicago, we did find the Metropolitan Club to be a more reasonably priced venue! There are only two negatives I wanted to comment on for other couples looking. We did struggle a bit with communication with the Club closer to our wedding. It might just be the norm for the wedding industry, but it was tough to be finalizing details the week of the wedding. That being said, day of, everything turned out amazing and the reception was spectacular. Secondly, the Club did run out of lite beer fairly early on in our reception. That was a bit disappointing since we had opted to upgrade the bar and go an extra hour, however I will say the Club really did try to make up for that and all of our guests had a blast regardless. Again, I would definitely recommend this space because it is so unique and iconic to get married here and day of, it was a very wonderful experience. The staff was extremely attentive the day of and ensured everything ran smoothly!
We worked with Gina and Julia from The Metropolitan, and everything went unbelievably smoothly. The venue was all-inclusive, which took a lot off of our plate, and literally nothing went wrong day-of, which we couldn't believe was possible.
In terms of the wedding itself, the venue was perfect. The view from the Sears Tower was gorgeous, and we were able to take wedding photos on the sky deck. The food, both appetizers and entrees, was the best we've ever had at a wedding. Couldn't be happier with our decision!
They made the whole process from start to finish stress free and amazing. TBH We went with the bare minimum and our guests were beyond impressed by the venue and its view of Chicago. The late night snack french fry boards were great. All of the food was wonderful. We’re beyond happy with the results of our wedding reception at the Metropolitan Club.
We absolutely loved the Metropolitan Club for our wedding. The views and space are spectacular!
We were really were most concerned about the way the reception looked and we were not disappointed. However, when we booked the reception, we were not too concerned about the food, and did not even make it a point of emphasis. But, let me tell you, the food was a hidden perk! Everything is delicious and we still have people raving about the food to this day!
Additionally, the Metropolitan works with Bittersweet cake shop, so you don't even need to find a cake vendor. Bittersweet is just as fantastic so need to worry about whether or not you will like them. The cake is built into the price of the venue.
We cannot say enough nice things! It was the perfect place to host a wedding!
Our wedding at The Metropolitan was incredible. Choosing the Metropolitan was one of the best decisions we made. The staff was absolutely amazing, most notably Gina Trombetti who worked with us for over a year as we planned the wedding of our dreams. Gina was an incredible communicator and efficiently and effectively got things done. She was so easy to work with and made our vision a possibility. The venue was stunning and our guests are still raving about The Metropolitan. The food was extremely high quality and the service was spectacular. There was absolutely no detail that was overlooked. HUGE thank you to Gina and the Metropolitan!!!
The Metropolitan truly brings your vision to life! We just got married in October 22nd and are still dreaming of our fairytale wedding there. We worked with Rachyl Wright who is absolutely spectacular. She worked with us through every detail and had so many beautiful recommendations on touches that truly made the day so perfect. We almost had to postpone due to a family member being in the ICU and she was so kind and patient throughout the process. The Mixologist, Ashley, also went above and beyond to accommodate. I do not drink alcohol but still wanted to have a signature “mocktail” and she helped me create something way above my expectations! She even offered a non-alcoholic champagne I could drink to toast the night. Additionally all the staff makes you feel so celebrated and the food really is a wow factor. Highly recommend!!
The Metropolitan was AMAZING. Rachyl Wright was SO VERY helpful and patient with us even through all the last minute changes. The location is PERFECT and has a wonderful view. You get more than your money's worth and your guests will LOVE IT!!
Metropolitan was fantastic to work with. Lorena far exceeded our expectations in terms of responsiveness, helpfulness, and flexibility. She brought a sense of calm and organization to a stressful process and went above and beyond her duties. The food, venue layout, and level of service from the waitstaff was incredible and was consistently mentioned by all of our guests. All of our other vendors enjoyed working with the Metropolitan, and would highly recommend The Metropolitan to anyone looking for a venue.
The Metropolitan Club was the perfect wedding reception venue for our daughter and new son-in-laws reception. The view is like no other, the food was fantastic and Sally made it all happen. She was so accommodating and pleasant to work with. Our guests are still talking about the amazing view, the beautiful venue and the delicious food. Thank you Sally!
We loved having our wedding at The Metropolitan - we looked at a lot of different venues and this one was by far our favorite! Our ceremony / reception along with the cocktail hour (held in the Craftsman) was on the 67th floor of the Sears Tower - all rooms offered amazing views for our guests that had traveled and even our Chicago guests were in awe. They even offer guests a private elevator to the top floor of the Sears Tower! Everything from the food to the open bar were FANTASTIC and the layout was just perfect for our guests - and all for an extremely reasonable price! Due to COVID, we had postponed our wedding for a year and a half and throughout that time, Lorena was extremely patient, helpful and accommodating - she was a great resource to have while navigating through the unusual year. Any requests we had to help tailor our wedding, her and her team were able to execute and was extremely responsive to all our questions. Two weeks after our wedding, we're still hearing from our guests how amazing the venue / food and drinks were - we can't thank her and her team enough and we would HIGHLY recommend this venue - everything was just perfect about it!
There are no words for how incredible our experience was with the Metropolitan. Despite the uncertainty of COVID and the postponement of our original date, Sally was there as a calming, reassuring, and knowledgeable guide. Everything went off flawlessly with coordinating our vendors. The view was breathtaking and the food/drinks were fabulous. Choosing the Metropolitan as our venue was hands-down the best decision we made. We are so grateful to everyone for making our special day possible!
Our wedding plans had changed drastically due to COVID and the Metropolitan was extremely accommodating and gave us the best micro wedding reception possible! Lorena created a beautiful setup for us and took care of everything. The entire team that evening was professional, kind and fun. Highly recommend having your reception here!
We held a small, intimate reception here - it was so much more beautiful than we imagined! You can't ask for a better view of the city. On top of that, the service and the food was fantastic.
Best. Wedding. Ever. The Metropolitan is an iconic venue, offering stunning views from the 66th floor. Lorena and her team did an amazing job making our wedding perfect. We appreciated Lorena’s patience with our questions, as well as her transparency with costs as we felt like other venues were not as collaborative. The whole team was very friendly and responsive, and made every step of the wedding process enjoyable and exciting (ie; wedding tasting). If there was something we wanted at the reception, Lorena made sure we got it! We received so many compliments from our guests regarding the food and how the room itself looked beautiful and classy, in line with our black tie encouraged event. The staff on the day of was very professional, yet fun, and made our guests’ experience one to remember. What better place to get married than one of the most memorable landmarks in Chicago?
Sally and Brittney made sure our wedding reception went smoothly and fielded all 800 (slight exaggeration) of my questions ahead of the big day like champs. They were genuinely focused on making sure I was happy with our plans and were flexible in helping us achieve our goals. I was honestly worried that I wouldn't be able to "let go and have fun" at the reception after planning like a crazy person for months, but the fantastic team took everything off my hands so I really had the best time ever. I would definitely recommend The Metropolitan.
We would highly recommend The Metropolitan as a wedding venue. For our wedding, we got numerous compliments about how classy the venue was as well as the food, particularly the beef filet. We wanted a venue that was unique, and it doesn't get much more impactful than the 66th floor of the Sears Tower. The views are obviously stunning and made for an unforgettable experience. We really enjoyed working with our point of contact Lorena, who was incredibly professional and patient with us during our many rounds of questions. The day-of staff was also very friendly and helped elevate the experience for our guests.
Would highly recommend The Metropolitan, Lorena and her team to anyone looking for a classic Chicago venue. Lorena and all of the staff at The Metropolitan were so easy to work with. They answered any and all questions promptly and were extremely accommodating to all requests. They were very flexible and responsive in working with all of our other vendors. The room turned out exactly how I wanted, and the food was delicious. The new renovations look great, and the ballroom is the perfect size for a 200-person wedding. The views were wonderful for the cocktail hour and reception.
My husband and I were so lucky to be able to have our wedding reception here. From the food to the view to the day-of coordination (shout out to Lorena!!), everything was picture perfect. We would recommend The Metropolitan whole-heartedly and without reservation. Thank you so much!
My wife had grown up in Chicago and when we chose to get married in her hometown, we knew we wanted to make it a weekend full of iconic Chicago spots. Immediately, the Metropolitan Club came to mind as a place that would as unforgettable as it was beautiful. From the beginning, the team at the Metropolitan, namely Sally Woodson, made the entire process as seamless as ever. We had the lovely experience of allowing all of our guests to go up to the SkyDeck before the happy hour which really wowed everyone. From there, the food and the whole evening were absolutely perfect! Our guests still tell us about how much they enjoyed the night, which truly makes us so happy. If you are looking for an iconic Chicago venue for your wedding that you will remember for the rest of your life, look no further than the Metropolitan Club!
When looking for a wedding venue, almost immediately, an iconic Chicago location came to mind. Located in an unforgettable space at the Sears (Willis) Tower, the team at the Metropolitan were outstanding at helping us envision our event, budget for (realistic!) costs, refer competent vendors and hotels for out of town guests, and coordinated the event without the additional need, headache, and cost of a wedding coordinator.
The team at the Metropolitan, led by General Manager Simona Blaugh, and Private Event Director Lorena Mulvaney, along with former team member Ashley Toomey, helped us every step of the way. As guest counts changed, logistics were altered, and the other unexpected things that pop up in the days leading up to the event, the team handled them professionally, quickly, and transparently.
Our experience from the phenomenal tasting and planning session (bring to go bags, as you'll leave with a full array of entrees!), to the follow up meetings to finalize the details, to the day of the event when we were focused on the remaining details, we felt supported and treated as one of the Metropolitan family right until we walked down the aisle through the end of the evening. Even as the club underwent massive (and beautiful!) renovations in the months leading up to the ceremony, we never worried that the work would get done and that we'd be well taken care of when the day finally came.
The views are stunning, the food is impeccable, the venue and operations teams work like a well-oiled machine, and the great event leaders are strong, competent communicators.
Although we only get one wedding, this may not be the last event we host with the team at the club. A++
My wedding was here a couple of weeks ago. This place was amazing from beginning to end. My venue coordinator, Sally was so helpful and made everything go seamlessly. I would have my wedding here a thousand times over! My guests are still raving about the night. The beauty, the view, the food, and experience! Everything was lovely! Only thing I wish I could’ve done was have enough time for all my guests to go to the sky deck. We had that planned, but didn’t realize it would take an hour per table to go up there. So, we nixed it the day of. But, Sally ensured that we’d get a refund for that. If you want that aspect to be a part of your wedding, start earlier than 5 and plan accordingly. Anyway, very beautiful day. I wish I could relive it again :). Can’t wait to go back for our anniversary dinner! They offer you a complimentary anniversary dinner and replica wedding cake- so no need to save the top after your wedding!
This was the perfect venue for our Chicago style wedding! Ashley and the entire team at The Metropolitan made everything so perfect for our big day. Ashley was a saint answering my million emails and helped me plan every little detail. The food and service was amazing during our wedding and Ashley came up to us numerous times to make sure everything was going okay. She coordinated with all my vendors, set up everything for our big day and they even took it down! This is one of the VERY few venues I know that’ll do that for you for no extra charge. You will not regret having your wedding here.
Sally and The Metropolitan Club made everything so easy and stress free! Our wedding turned out gorgeous and without any issues! Excellent service and everyone was extremely professional the whole way through! The food is literally amazing...I had nothing but compliments all night regarding how good it was and not your typical “wedding food”. Bartenders were great, speedy and made a good drink! Request Sally for all your wedding needs and you will be good to go!
If you are looking for a great party with delicious food and awesome drinks, and with one of kind views at a one of a kind place, The Metro Club is the place for your wedding! The staff and event planners were truly wonderful to work with for the duration of the planning process and their execution on the big night was everything I could have asked for and more. All of the little details I requested were honored and done so well above my expectations. I recommend The Metro Club to any bride and groom.
I am still speechless from our wedding a few weekends ago.
The venue was incredible. From the planning with Ashley, to the food, to the overall experience we could not have asked for better.
We had a rainy/cloudy wedding day so I was very afraid the view would be ruined but by 9 PM the clouds went down and we had the city views back!
Ashley Toomey was also an incredible key piece to the day.
She was with us every step of the way in helping us totally customize our experience. The day of she took care of everything and we were so worry-free!
I would highly recommend this venue!
My husband and I couldn't be happier with our decision to have our ceremony and reception at The Metropolitan Club--it truly exceeded our expectations! Ashley Toomey and her team went above and beyond to make our day special and were very accommodating throughout the entire process, from the initial tour to the end of our reception. Ashley was a pleasure to work with and definitely helped alleviate the stress that comes with planning a wedding. Our guests proclaimed that our wedding was the best one they had ever been to and raved about the stellar views, the amazing food and the superior level of service. Thank you to the entire staff for making our wedding day memorable!
I couldn't be happier with the venue we chose! My wedding was amazing! All of our guests told us it was the most different and most beautiful wedding they have been to. During the entire planning process, Ashley Toomey was always ready to answer all my questions (and I had many!) and she organized everything in the most perfect way (she's awesome!). The dinner was delicious, and all the extras we included were worth it. We had both our ceremony and reception at the 66th floor and went to the skydeck to take pictures at the ledge. There is not even one bad thing to mention, it was perfect!
I have attempted to schedule a venue tour for metropolitan club as a prospective for our wedding. The coordinator isn't flexible or any bit accomodating. I then reached out for a second time thinking I would rearrange my schedule to fit theirs, but not even a response to acknowledge my message. I actually cannot imagine dealing with this venue come closer to your wedding date- i'd be SO stressed out working with people like this! I can rest easy because I have found 4 other venues that have gone above and beyond for my fiance and us. Stay away!!!
The Metropolitan Club was absolutely amazing! Outstanding service from everyone we interacted with (especially Lorena- she is AWESOME!!). They treated us so nicely and we got all of our questions answered right away throughout the process. Very professional and the place was beautiful. Highly recommend!!
The Metropolitan Club at The Willis Tower was the best decision made to host my wedding reception. The city views from the 67th floor were breathtaking. Working with the whole staff, including Ashley Toomey, as the coordinator on my wedding day made it stress free and an amazing experience. I was truly satisfied with everyone at the Metropolitan Club for making my wedding day unforgettable!
The Metropolitan Club was above and beyond what we could ever hope for. The service from start to the final hour was outstanding. The food was superb! Thanks to Lorena, the evening was perfect !
We had a wonderful experience using the Met Club for our wedding and reception. We can't say enough good things about Lorena Mulvaney --she performed in an outstanding capacity as our private events director. She was extremely helpful, always prompt and responsive (especially to our millions of emails), and no detail was too big or small for her to handle! The food was terrific, the waitstaff all did a tremendous job (our guests even told us how great they were). Our wedding guests said over and over that it was the best wedding they had attended. Truly the most memorable day EVER!
I cannot say enough good things about the Metropolitan Club! From day one of touring the Club, my husband and I were in awe of what the Club had to offer! Lorena Mulvaney was our coordinator. Throughout our entire 18 month planning process, Lorena was so accommodating and wonderful to work with! Lorena was very prompt when responding to emails, and as future bride will come to realize, there will be a LOT of emails during the planning process! I was not once worried that the day would not go as planned! Lorena is on top of everything! We received so many compliments about how beautiful the room was, how amazing the views were, how great the food was, and how smoothly things were run! This would not have been possible without Lorena and her wonderful team! Thank you does not seem like enough! Our wedding will be a day my husband and I, along with our guests will never forget! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!
If you want a unique, elegant, and beautiful view of Chicago, the Metropolitan Club should be your number one choice for your wedding venue. Sally Karney was our wedding coordinator. She was a pleasure to work with and was always available with any questions/concerns we had. On the day of our wedding, we were a bit behind schedule as we were still waiting on family members to arrive. Sally made sure to keep the day going as planned, as if we were on time.
The food tasted amazing. The decor was very elegant. The staff were very attentive. And of course all of our guests were in awe with the view of Chicago from the 67th floor.
The Metropolitan Club made our wedding vision come to life. We definitely recommend if to any newly-engaged couples looking for a wedding venue.
The Sears* Tower and the Club are special to our family, so deciding to have our wedding there was the easy part. Sally, our coordinator, made it even easier. Our wedding was small, intimate and emotional - the staff and Sally were amazing in ensuring those elements remained in tact throughout the evening. We added little touches up to the last day and the team had no problem making adjustments. Anytime we had questions or needed another walk-through Sally was happy to make herself available.
The day of our wedding went smoother than we could have hoped. The bar wasn't open yet, but this bride needed a glass of wine and Aby found a way to make it happen! The room we reserved to get ready in was too hot due to the time of day, and the team easily moved us into another adjacent room that was much cooler, making make-up and hair a snap for all. Our bartender and service team were a delight throughout the evening and made each of our guests feel special - down to the chocolate tower treat for our kids. There was another female attendant in addition to Aby that I want to give special thanks to (so sorry I cannot remember her name!). She kept everything moving efficiently and was wonderfully patient with me - much appreciated. We wouldn't change a thing about our day.
The Metropolitan Club was a wonderful and magical place to have our wedding. Lorena was incredibly accommodating and was an absolute joy to work with, along with the rest of her team.
The views were without equal and the space was complete with every amenity you could possibly want. Add that to the "wow" factor of being in one of Chicago's most iconic buildings and you've got a beautiful combination.
Thanks!
There are not enough words to describe the entire wedding journey at The Metropolitan Club. We looked at many venues but the professionalism was top rate right from the first visit. The food, service and of course the view were amazing. Lorena, was the absolute best to work with. We had winter wedding and snow came down at the perfect time which just added more to the magical evening. I cannot say enough about every staff member, it is the hidden gem that is worth visiting.
We had the most amazing wedding here at the Metropolitan Club! Working with Ashley was so wonderful and stress free. She knew exactly what we were envisioning and made our dream wedding a reality. I couldn't have been happier! The food was so amazing, we got so many complements; a friend said he asked for seconds on the salad! Overall, we had the best day ever! Thank you Ashley and staff at the Metropolitan Club!
It isn't just our opinion that we had the greatest wedding, but all of our friends' and families' as well. The Metropolitan Club is such a special location which just feels like a great place to have a wedding. Every time we are driving into downtown or can spot the Willis Tower from the suburbs, we say "hey that's where we got married! Relatives from out of town were definitely thrilled to be in Chicago's tallest skyscraper to celebrate with us.
Location and atmosphere aside, the food and service was equally outstanding. The planning was perfect by Lorena, who I cannot say enough great things about. I would recommend this venue to anybody that is looking for a place to have the perfect wedding and hope they all get to work with Lorena and the same staff that helped us.
We really wanted to highlight our city when we decided on a wedding venue, so we selected one of our favorite places, The Metropolitan Club. It was a fantastic decision. Lorena and the entire staff had everything under control, and I honestly felt like we were free to enjoy the evening, without a worry. We were able to add our own special touches to the space, and I watched Lorena as events unfolded, attentive to every detail to ensure things flowed smoothly. We had a blast, the food was wonderful, and the service was flawless. Our guests are still telling us it was the best wedding they have ever attended. It is worth noting, The Metropolitan Club is a welcoming space for all couples. If you are looking for a magical place in Chicago to host your family and friends for your special day, you owe it to yourself to have a look.
We used the Metropolitan Club for our wedding on 9/17/16 and couldn't have been happier with our decision. Lorena was our coordinator and was absolutely wonderful. She was always accessible, super helpful, and on top of things which is what you want when you're a bride and already have a million things to keep track of. Everything about our day was perfect and if anything went wrong, I had no idea. All of our details were executed exactly as we asked and turned out even better than we envisioned. The staff was extremely accommodating and our guests raved about the venue and the food especially. Everyone we spoke with could not compliment the food and the space enough. I wish we could do it all over again and would choose the Metropolitan Club every time!
When choosing a venue, we could not be any more pleased with the service we received from start to finish with Lorena Mulvaney at the Metropolitan Club. The Club welcomes prospective brides and grooms with an event table that has a binder of recent wedding photographs, and they tour you around the event spaces with a glass of champagne. They provide you a very helpful binder checklist, and any outstanding question (big or small) was promptly replied to by Lorena with complete understanding and professionalism. It was truly a seemless experience, and I don't know what I would have done without Lorena and the Metropolitan Club team. A very special thank you to her and Rick for going beyond the call of duty with our concerns, and providing us the best day of our lives. If we could do the day all over again, we would still confidently choose the Metropolitan Club and Lorena for our venue. Everything was top notch. Total satisfaction!
We wanted a classic room, ideally with some windows, and a classic Chicago location. The Metropolitan Club was absolutely perfect! The food was outstanding, the staff was attentive and friendly, the space was classic, and the VIEW! Ashley was wonderful to work with, and made the process a breeze. Plus the cost was really reasonable for a downtown location. Plus you can add the Sky Deck to your package, which our guests LOVED. We were so happy with our decision and highly recommend the Metropolitan Club!
5/5 Would get married there again! Our event coordinator Sally K. was outstanding. She was very helpful in all aspects of the wedding especially when dealing with the mother of the bride (no easy task). The views were spectacular and the venue was not your ordinary space. Food was excellent and service was great. The club accommodated special request for our event and really tailored it for us. They worked well with outside vendors. Everything went smoothly and the timing of all events was perfect.
Couldn't recommend the Metropolitan Club enough. If you are searching for wedding venues in Chicago definitely call Sally you will not be disappointed.
Our day was perfect in every way - we had a wonderful venue coordinator (Ashley) who answered all questions and accommodated our needs in a timely manner. The day of our ceremony and reception everything could not have gone smoother. The food was outstanding, the wait staff professional and the views breath taking.
The Metroplitan Club was a great choice. The preferred vendor list was very helpful. (DJ and Photog). Wedding and reception came off with out a hitch. The staff was so professional and helpful. The food was outstanding and was delivered en mass per table. No one had to wait. Cake was excellent. Bartenders were fast and efficient. No one had to wait.
The Metropolitan Club exceeded my expectations! I had a small destination wedding in Chicago and had to plan all from outise Chicago, I was looking for a place with a beautiful view but also great food and service that would be affordable when I found The Metropolitan Club! Kelley was super helpful, understood my needs, she was very accesible since the begginning even though I wasnt in Chicago I was able to plan everything with her. I only got to Chicago two weeks before the wedding but by that time Kelley and I had everything planned out. on the wedding day I didnt had toworry of vendors going to the club since Kelley had already arranged everything for that day. The view was espectacular and had the chance to see the sunset! The food was deliciooouuus and the service also exceed my expectations! If you are thinking of having a wedding in Chicago you must look at The Metropolitan Club!
If you are looking for a wedding venue that has AMAZING city views, delicious food and exceptional customer service, do yourself a favor and book at The Metropolitan Club. Ashley Godinez, Director of Private Events, is amazing to work with; she is organized, prompt and accommodating. She and her staff worked tirelessly to make our wedding vision a reality. Wedding planning can be very stressful and her guidance helped bring down the anxiety.
Our guests had a wonderful time and continue to tell us how they enjoyed the opportunity to go to the Skydeck (added bonus for our guests) and that the food was 'the best they've had at a wedding reception'. They also continue to rave about the view. Oh, that view.
There are no words to express our gratitude to The Metropolitan Club for making our wedding beautiful, special and memorable.
I'm only giving the Met Club 4 instead of 5 stars because they have a serious problem with employment turnover. It was very inconvenient to have to constantly change Met Club contacts every few months. Due to the constant turnover, it also led to a breakdown in communication among the Met Club employees. Otherwise - everything was fabulous.
If I was planning my wedding again I wouldn't change a thing about having it at The Metropolitan Club. They didn't miss a beat, took great care of us and our guests and really went over and above.
The food was incredibele. Everyone of our guests plates were empty and we received such compliments about the food and service.
In addition to a great room we had a fantastic view of the city which was very special considering 95% of our guest were from out of town.
I highly recommend hosting your wedding and or events at The Metropolitan Club. You will receive the royal treatement. The cost is very reasonable especially for the city and the value you get is tremendous.
We hosted our wedding reception at The Metropolitan Club and had an amazing experience! Such great feedback from Chicago as well as out-of-town guests. Kelly Rehmer, our Event Director, managed every detail including those we had overlooked, and the turnout was amazing. Kudos to Chef Greg and the service staff for an unbelievable meal (filet and halibut-out of this world), and the drinks didn't disappoint! Seriously a great experience that couldn't have gone better. Thank you, Metropolitan Club!
The venue itself was stunning with a near panoramic view of the Chicago cityskape. The lights of all the surrounding buildings twinkled like candlelight in the windows. The food was excellent, all of my guests agreed, and the bar service was wonderful. My only complaint was the response time from my event manager. She was a little untimely and sometimes hard to get a hold of. If you're organized like me, it shouldn't be too much of a problem because you're used to squaring everything away yourself. However if you're someone who depends on your service providers to do everything, make srure you stay on top of them. Again, that was a small factor and did not impact my actual night- just the planning stages. Overwall, it was simply perfect!
This venue was amazing. We had so many compliments from our guests. The room is very elegant and provides great views of the city. The staff is excellent, the food was great and the service was amazing.
Overall, the guests really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. We had the East Room of the metropolitan club on a Saturday in August.
For the price, you can't really find a better value in the Loop. The price includes all linens, flatware, glassware and parking for your guests, so it really is a fantastic deal in my opinion.
My only complaints are about some of the staff. Most of the servers were really friendly and attentive. The BARTENDER on the other hand placed some cash on the bar under a glass. I was outraged- we paid for an open bar and prepaid the gratuity for the entire night. I did not want my guests thinking they had to spend a dollar to be there- that's why they are GUESTS and we are the HOSTS. I had my mother tell the event coordinator that it was inappropriate and the bartender was reprimanded. He then apologized profusely and said he "didn't have time to put it in his pocket and forgot about it". Um, how about REFUSING the tip when someone tries to hand it to you? It was really upsetting.
Be sure to stipulate from the beginning that this is unacceptable, otherwise the staff may try to get the better of you and your guests. I know I always feel awkward in situations like that- when I don't know whether and how much to tip- and I did not want my guests to feel that way. The Met Club charges a set gratuity in advance- if you want to give them extra, put it in your contract so the staff doesn't accept it from guests.
I'm a tough critic and spent a ton of time researching venues for our wedding reception. The Metropolitan Club and the catering manager, Joe Flynn, along with the staff exceeded my expectations. What I loved most was the attention to detail, and fabulous service.
It was on the 67th floor of the Sears Tower so it had amazing views. It was beautiful to see the city at night. Another bonus is that the fireworks were visible from Navy Pier so it felt like you had your own firewords display. The food was also really good all of our guests commented on how great the food was.
