The First Look
Comfort combined with a timeless ambience set the stage for a memorable wedding day celebration. Located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the Normandy Kitchen Cafe and Bar creates an elegant and extraordinary atmosphere for weddings and post-wedding receptions.
Inside of the distinguished elegance of its historic 1925 building, unforgettable moments are made. Neutral colors and a rich aura are all part of the beautiful surroundings of the Normandy Inn and Suites, which is now part of the Best Western hotel family. The venue offers couples the following space options to host wedding ceremonies and receptions.
Continental Room. The Continental Room is the largest event space the venue offers, accommodating up to 120 seated guests for a banquet reception or 240 guests for a cocktail reception. The space is one that is neutral in color and features crown molding and an elegant aura.
The Village. This impressive space has 1,057 square feet and seats up to 80 guests for a banquet style event. For cocktails only, the room can accommodate 120 reception party guests. Neutral colors, chandeliers and vintage furnishings create a cozy environment for dining.
The Normandy. With 600 square feet of space, the Normandy Room accommodates up to 80 guests for a banquet style reception. Stained glass windows provide a stunning backdrop to the festivities.
The Parlor. This cozy space is ideal for small parties of up to 20 guests. Cocktails are served at the elegant full bar and cushy seating is available for a baby grand piano performance.
What You Should Know
The Normandy Kitchen restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner weekdays from the early morning hours until late evening. On weekends, it operates from early morning to midnight.
The Parlor Room is adjacent to the spacious Continental Room and booking these two rooms gives wedding guests the option of going to the bar for cocktails before and after enjoying a delicious meal in the main reception room. Additionally, the Continental Room offers easy access to guest parking. There is parking for up to 200 vehicles, including large vehicles and buses. The Village and The Normandy rooms intersect seamlessly with The Parlor, giving you additional options for combining guest areas for receptions.
Couples who prefer dining on classic comfort food have a range of familiar choices for a catered wedding reception. Food is presented in an elegant manner and tables are dressed beautifully. The friendly and professional staff are able to work with couples and pro planners on tailoring the reception to suit your specific needs. On-staff event planners go the extra mile to ensure every detail is set up exactly as you desire.
During your event, staff is super attentive to guest needs and are on constant alert for any irregularities. The staff never hesitates to promptly escort uninvited guests out of the reception area once notified.

We rented out the bar and adjacent room for an after-rehearsal-dinner cocktail get together where everyone was invited (as opposed to the rehearsal dinner). They were very accommodating and helpful, and the price was excellent for what we got and the ability to host everyone that was in town for our wedding. The bartender was great and the ambiance was perfect. We would definitely use the space again for future events.

Bride, groom, families from both sides and guests flew into gusty Minneapolis for the nuptials of my daughter and now son-in-law. The Normandy provided a comfy, safe haven from all the chaos that comes from putting on a wedding production. The wait staff, front desk clerks and bartenders were all fabulous. Very warm, considerate, attentive to the needs of all their guests. Management was accomodating to our requests. My only negative was that considering we had reserved over 20 some rooms, for multiple nights and held three different events at the location, I felt there should have been some incentives offered. In hindsight that is something that needs to be done prior to the event, not afterward. Had I to do it again, I would have negotiated some comps into the various events. At the same time, every guest that made a comment about their accomodations, food or sevice had very positive remarks. As far as I know there wasn't a negative comment. When you're dealing with 60 guests staying at the same property that's pretty remarkable. The property is smaller and somewhat dated. But it is kept spotlessly clean, they always had a crew washing windows, polishing everything, sweeping, vacuuming, the property was very well maintained. The five star shining feature is their staff. I dealt primarily with the wait staff, I can honestly say, they were top notch, attentive, warm, friendly without being intrusive, just perfect!
