Sadly it looks as though they are no longer renting this space
What can I say, the venue was absolutely gorgeous. The sculpture was the perfect back drop for our special day. All of our guests commented on how unique and beautiful it was. Because of the beautiful architecture of the building, décor doesn't need to be extravagant. Adam was very helpful when planning our big day and let us do multiple tours of the venue. Highly recommend this venue if you want a unique feel and to impress your guests!
Fantastic venue! The atrium gives you that Grand feeling, but fill it with your guests and a band, and it was the most intimate and beautiful evening of our life! It can be both! We were able to easily fit 17 round tables of 10, a LARGE 40' head table with 35 seats, a dance floor, and a band! Total guest count: 200. Working with Adam of OPO/DESCO was easy and communication was always timely and professional.
The AllSeated software they give you access to for creating your floor plan is AMAZING! You can customize the layout and get a 3D feel of how your event will look! It's all true to size and gave me a much better idea of spacing for all of our tables.
We did cocktail hour in the 9th street corridor and then had guests flow into the atrium space for dinner and dancing. The flow was seamless and timely--which was extremely important to me! I am so glad I stumbled into this very unique St. Louis venue a year ago!
Absolutely loved the venue. Our guests commented how beautiful it was, as well. Ted was very helpful with communicating and answering questions. We used the upstairs atrium for our reception and the downstairs gallery for an afterparty. We had 240+ guests and a band so it was slightly tight in some areas but still worked out very nicely. The only thing I would say is if you are using the downstairs gallery for an after party, be aware that there are some safety lights that have to stay on so we couldn't really appreciate some of the special lighting we had. But it still looked great and everyone had a great time! So glad we booked this venue, it was everything we were looking for!
Absolutely amazing! The space looked gorgeous and our guests are still talking about our venue (we got married in May!). Ted was wonderful and answered all 2 million of our questions and was prompt with email. Would definitely recommend!!
My husband and I chose the Old Post Office for our whole wedding: ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. The building has SO much character! It has been beautifully restored, and is a graceful blend of old and new. I love the location, in the most beautiful part of downtown St. Louis. Our ceremony took place in the south-facing room, lined by windows on one side and a gorgeous wall of old P.O. Boxes on the other side. The room was so elegant, we only needed minimal pipe-and-drape and an arbor with some flowers to make the setting perfect! We got so many compliments on our choice of venue!
The Old Post Office was an ideal backdrop for our wedding ceremony, which we hosted in the main atrium space. Hannah was a pleasure to work with, allowing us to tour the space on multiple occasions to make plans, and answering all of our questions over email and the phone. She even helped make accommodations for our wedding rehearsal, showing us all the spaces we could use on the wedding day. We’d definitely recommend this historic space to anyone looking for a memorable wedding day.
The Old Post Office is absolutely beautiful. It is a venue that is available on holidays and weekends. It doesn't cost a fortune. We were able to book the venue more than a year in advance with a small deposit. You don't have to have your wedding and reception there to use the venue. The roof is entirely glass so the natural light gives you absolutely gorgeous pictures and the Truth and Vigilance Gargoyle is an excellent back drop. It is a very interesting historic building so guests have several interesting exhibits they can view.
You can have a ceremony that reflects your faith.
We had a Lutheran ceremony and received communion.
The only drawback of The Old Post Office is it is a Museum built in 1874, so there is no audio so you have to bring in Microphones and music. We hired a string quartet and our photographer and videographer provided the audio. We were able to skype the wedding, to my mother in law outside of Amsterdam, using the venue's Wi-Fi. The Priest and the florist were able to deliver everything for the ceremony the day before during rehearsal or early the morning of the wedding.
The venue does provide nice white chairs, that look brand new, which were set up and taken down by their staff. And billed after the wedding based on your headcount
There is garage and metered parking across the street and nearby.
Our 28 passenger limo bus had no trouble with parking or getting in and out of downtown. You are given a large conference room to relax. Head count is due about 10 days prior to the ceremony, we had rehearsal the day before due to many out of town wedding party members, myself and my bridesmaids were able to arrive early the day of the ceremony to take bridal pictures, and stay after the ceremony to take additional photographs with the entire wedding party. Everyone commented that it was a "cool" place to get married.
This was a beautiful space for our reception. I completely loved it and everyone in attendance seemed to as well. Everyone I worked with was really helpful and prompt in responding to my emails.
Some items to consider when booking this venue: You're limited to a choice of 3 caterers. You have to rent everything (tables, chairs, etc). There are additional staff fees.
So with all of that it was a pretty pricey place to hold a reception, but I'm really glad we had ours here. It was gorgeous. Plus you can save money by having smaller decorations because the space really is the best decoration there is.
As the venue I had chosen can hold up to 200 people. I believe that 150-175 would be a perfect number without being squeezed. I had around 10 people at my reception. It was great. The entire building set up a wonderful backdrop for the entire reception. The coodinator is always willing to help out and did a great job.
We loved that it was an historic building and that it was unique from most weddings we've been to.;You have to rent EVERYTHING!
