I booked with the previous event coordinator in Jan 2024 for my wedding this coming June 2025. I only learned recently (Feb 2025) that they double booked my wedding date. The management is a mess. I could go on for paragraphs about how terrible and stressful this situation has been. I don’t even know what I’m going to do or if they are even capable of holding a wedding successfully. Don’t book this venue. Just don’t do it. They don’t have an event coordinator right now and after talking with the manager, I’m not sure they will be open much. Save yourself this nightmare.
From the start Christy’s personality was captivating. My fiancé (now HUSBAND! Can you tell where this is going?) and I immediately felt a sense of trust with her. She genuinely knew her facility and what her staff was able to provide. Our wedding weekend came and we continued to feel spoiled! She treated us like the most important couple on earth. Sadly our wedding day was a blustery one. Through all the chaos the day entailed we were so happy with the end results. We had a beautiful wedding, our family raved about the food, we danced all night, and we are so grateful to Christy and her team for bringing our dreams to life. Highly recommend!!
We had a great experience having our wedding at the Oyster Farm. We had our ceremony on the lawn and our reception in the Cabana room. We had some ideas that we wanted to attempt to do and Christy response was - let me see what my team can come up with and they delivered. Christy did a great job of listening to our vision and helping us recreate it.
My bridal party and myself got our hair and makeup done off site at a local rental but Christy made sure we had a place to get dressed on site before the ceremony. She also made sure the guys had a place to get ready and hang out far from the girls.
The food and drinks were great - the chef did an excellent job and our signature cocktail turned out wonderfully. All our guests had nothing but great things to say about everything.
The perfect wedding venue that has it all. Bay, Beach, lodging, marina, restaurant and venue. Casual or sophisticated. The Bay views are spectacular for dining and for the wedding.. Christy, venue manager-everything person, has her hand in all aspects to assure everything is what is wanted. She is incredibly knowledgeable and knows her stuff. She demands a perfect day from her staff. Even when weather wasn’t on our side, she got it all together and on time under the Marina and my daughter was very pleased with the outcome. The rain came but Christy did such a great job that it wasn’t impactful for the day. Everything was exactly what my daughter had envisioned. We can’t say enough great things about the overall experience. Whether inside or out, We think that they have it all as a destination spot. Cape Charles is an adorable bay town which adds to the overall experience.
We rented all the villas and family stayed on the grounds. The villas can sleep a number of people depending on the villa, kitchens are stocked well and even provide coffee. The pool is right outside the villas. The Marina bar is open at night to gather and the pool is great to relax.
My daughter was married 3/2/24. We chose this venue exactly a year before,
we planned and spoke with Christy, the wedding planner, several times throughout the year. On our final visit for the tasting we picked out place settings, agreed the wedding would be downstairs, due to time of year, followed by a downstairs cocktail hour, then up stairs for the reception. We were all excited and couldn’t wait for the big day. We were told the following things “we never have more than one party at a time; you don’t need to pay for the downstairs because I don’t like to nickel and dime people; Plated dinner is best, the cost is the same and it’s more elegant; you don’t need to worry about decorations, I have it all covered; We can do a bubble exit, I have everything for that; The place is yours friday night and all day saturday, so come in and we can get it all set and ready to go and no one will touch anything; Mom you don’t need to worry, I have it all covered, Rachel’s day will be perfect……. Fast forward, we arrive on Thursday, Christy wasn’t there and we spoke to someone else who walked us through the space, with our boring you with the whole thing this is pretty much what happened
*They did book a party for downstairs to start 1 hour after the ceremony, so we had to move the wedding the the same room as the reception
*The venue was not ours for friday night. Once we wrapped our heads around what was happening and went up to set up for the ceremony, the said it all had to be taken down because they were using the space that night. The MOH was taking pictures, because no one who worked there seemed to care how we wanted the seats arranged.
*The place settings were 100% not what was ordered
*The place also had little to no decor, except what we did bring
*We somehow ended up with passed hors d’oeuvres, even though we wanted displayed, and had only 1 server passing them, stoping on one side of the room with the oysters each time she came out, leaving the opposite side with none served
*Somehow we ended up with a buffet, even through that was never discussed~ I would have had more food had I been told they were doing that
*I had to go ask where the cake was, in order for them to set it up, along with serving utensils, for the buffet. I’m guessing our servers were pulled to the other, larger, party.
*The sever asked my husband to tell our guest (it was a small wedding of 50 guest) to take just one crab cake. This is why it was to be a plated meal, we knew people would want more than one. He said he would not, and that was her job, needless to say, more were taken.
*Drinks were being picked up off tables half full
*Christy came to the MOH (sister of bride) and the end and asked where the bubbles were. She was informed that she had told us she had it covered. Christy ran out and found sparklers.
Needless to say, as the mother of the bride, I was in panic mode all weekend, unable to enjoy myself or eat. We’re promised so much, and sadly, nothing promised was delivered. If they had just communicated, let me know what was happening, but they did not.
The venue is beautiful, the view was breathtaking, the food was excellent. If you pick this venue- get it all in writing, do not take what is promised at face value. Take your own coordinator, even though she will tell you, you don’t need one. I see other review praising her, maybe she had a off weekend, maybe something was happening in her personal life. Rachel’s wedding was the 1st of the season,
The Oyster Farm definitely had our best interest in mind and helped us to pull off an absolutely beautiful wedding. Christy was so organized and has a great eye for detail. She also cares so much about her couples. We were married in a tropical storm and Christy carefully watched the weather along side us, planning for multiple options depending on the weather. Fortunately, the rain stopped just in time and Christy was able to keep the beautiful outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour we had been planning. The Oyster Farm went above and beyond for us and I am so happy to have had our wedding there.
Oyster farm was as beautiful and perfect as we could have ever imagined our wedding to be! We lucked out with beautiful weather in late April for an outdoor ceremony. Aside from the beautiful venue, the best thing about Oyster Farm is their head of events Lane. She is everything you could want in an event manager and your day of coordinator, and truly made our wedding perfect. Thank you Lane!!!
Our wedding day was perfect here!! Lane went above and beyond to help our vision come true. From my many panicked emails to managing many moving pieces the day of, Lane and the rest of the staff helped make our dream wedding a reality!!
We love Cape Charles and our wedding day at Oyster Farm was perfect. The staff went above and beyond to make our day special. With COVID-19, there were some adjustments made and guidelines to follow. We had some rain during ceremony, but staff came out with umbrellas to help. And they say rain on your wedding day is good luck. The setting on the water is amazing. Our guests loved the food! Thank you to Tiffany and her team!
Such a beautiful venue and my wedding day went flawlessly. So organized, food was delicious, and the raw oyster bar was a big hit!
