We held our wedding here this past September. I cannot put into words how amazing our experience was booking at the Parador. The owners are extremely nice and accommodating. Our dream wedding became a reality with booking at the Parador. Being from Houston we wanted a venue with unique charm and the Parador was exactly that! Thank you the Parador for such an amazing day!
The Parador was the absolute best venue for our wedding! Architecturally breath taking!! Our guests were blown away by its detail and romantic atmosphere. My husband and I could not have imagined our wedding anywhere else. Thank you to Sheila and Stacey for everything you have done for us leading up to our wedding, and everything day of! We could not be more pleased.
We could not have asked for a more special place to hold our wedding reception! The Parador is unique and stunning, it's the type of venue where you could get away with 0 decorations and guests would still be in awe over the beauty. Sheila was accommodating from the moment we made contact, she made it clear that our wish was her command, within reason of course. She was quick to respond, helpful and a true delight to work with. The approved vendors for the Parador are also wonderful! You can tell the Parador team has worked hard to select the best of the best. Thank you Parador team for making our day spectacular!
Perfection from the moment we walked in the door until the moment we left at the end of the evening
This is a marvelous space in the Museum District. It was perfect for our largish wedding. They do have their own caterer list but we LOVED working with Cordua and their beverage people were great. Any of the other caterers would have been good as well. They were easy to coordinate with and provided all the linens for the day. Exactly what we wanted.
Sheila and the entire team at The Parador were amazing. I walked in and knew that this was the place I wanted to get married. Thankfully, my husband agreed. They were so accommodating to let us walk through the space as needed and gave us great recommendations for Houston vendors (they are very selective). Shiela is beyond organized and so helpful. Day of, they worked with our wedding planner and vendors without any glitches. We had the most beautiful wedding and reception. The pictures are unforgettable! Thank you so much Sheila! SIC’EM bears! -The Hanson’s
The unique feeling The Parador has to offer is largely the reason why we chose it for our wedding venue. My husband and I did not want to get married on some basic ballroom, and after endlessly searching for a venue we immediately booked The Parador after one tour! The place is just simply so romantic we had too! We had our ceremony in the garden area at sunset and it was so romantic, so fairytale like that it made me tear up as I was walking down. Sheila and her team were wonderful to work with! Sheila always quickly responded to any of our questions and was able to work with any request we had. Everyone at our wedding was just blown away with the venue. If you are searching for a venue that you will absolutely fall in love with I suggest you get in contact with Sheila and book a tour asap! It’s simply such a romantic setting.
I loved getting married at the Parador! They have a beautiful inside and outside setting, and you have the whole place to yourself. You cannot go wrong. The building itself is a historic building in the middle of the museum district. The outside garden is beautiful and the inside architecture is just as remarkable. We received many compliments throughout the night about the venue. You need to see this place for yourself!
My husband and I were trying to find a venue that has a church vibe but also could hold a reception. The Parador had it! We fell in love from the start when we walked in. We spoke with Stacey and she was hospitable and gave us the best tips on how to be budget friendly. Sheila was fabulous to work with as well! They have selected wonderful caterers to work with (we went with Cordua and highly recommend them! Darla was amazing to work with!) to make your wedding or event the hit of the year/lifetime! There is a beautiful garden outside to either have your ceremony or take pictures...the Parador has everything you need or look for! :) We really loved working with Sheila & Stacey too! They were both so down to Earth, taking care of business, but also building a friendship. :) Thank you both for allowing us to have our wedding at your venue! It was an honor! :) :) :)
My daughter's wedding and reception were held last weekend at The Parador. The setting and ambience in this historic building are fantastic. The director, Sheila, was easy to work with, and Stacy, who was there the night of the event, could not have been nicer. The venue and its garden are lovely and versatile. They easily flipped the space from its setting for the wedding to reception while everyone enjoyed cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. This is a beautiful gem in the museum district with easy access to downtown hotels and nightlife. We loved this venue and would happily recommend it to any looking for something elegant and different from a country club or hotel ballroom. The space is beautiful on its own and needs little embellishment to really come to life!
This was such a beautiful venue! I love that the fact that you are the only event for the space as well as you can do indoor to outdoor or flip the space. It really is your choice! Behind the Bash was amazing to work with and our wedding coordinator Mysti was incredible! We really wanted to get married in the gardens and have the reception inside and with Houston weather you never know, but it turned out beautifully! The venue also photographs beautifully and since the Parador is already so stunning you do not to overdecorate the inside!
It was perfect! Sheila was very helpful and made everything possible! theyre very easy to work with
I cannot say enough good things about the Parador! I recently had my wedding here and it was the perfect day. The outside garden area is beautiful, especially in the spring time, and perfect for outdoor ceremonies. The indoor area is also really nice for a reception. A beautiful, intimate venue---highly recommend!
I could not have asked for a better wedding venue. The building is so beautiful & historic, so many unique factors to this. If you're looking for something to hold a more intimate wedding, look no more. This venue is perfect for every celebration, but I am so lucky to have had my wedding there. As soon as I walked in, I knew it was the right fit for me. The wood alter is amazing, my absolute favorite part. I love how you can have this room for both events, ceremony & reception. They do a quick & seamless room flip so that was very convenient. Unfortunately the garden lights were not working that evening, so it was a little dark - not a lot of our guests saw the true beauty of the garden. But, regardless, the wedding was spectacular. A lot of our guests were very pleased with the location, space & over all look of the venue. Sheila is a fantastic manager of The Parador & I am so grateful for her quick responses & her grace with handling situations. Thank you so much for making the day so special for my new husband & I. So many compliments have been received & I just really want to thank you from the bottom of my heart.
One thing to keep in consideration, this venue does come with a catering group but if you have another choice in mind, do not be afraid to voice your opinion & bring another catering/coordinating team in. The catering food & beverages were phenomenal but you do have the choice to change if you prefer!
The Parador could not have been a more perfect venue for our son’s recent wedding. With its idyllic setting in the heart of Houston’s museum district, this historic building has all the appointments of a 5-star hotel while at the same time providing an intimate atmosphere for the most romantic of events. The staff could not have been more accommodating, with no small detail left to chance. The coordination between the Parador staff and our catering team was seamless; and we were left to relax and enjoy the day. We were most impressed with the efficiency and demeanor of the entire Parador team and would highly recommend this venue to our friends and family.
This parador is a gorgeous wedding venue. Unfortunately we had some difficulties due to the rude and inflexible parador representative and therefore I could not recommend this for the wedding of your dreams. Despite all this, we had a really good time and hopefully management/owners will correct the problems/personnel and it will be a good place in the future to have a wedding. Behind the Bash, their designated caterer, provided an excellent meal with good service. The only disappointment was the appetizers which were puny in comparison to the "formal tasting" appetizers. Otherwise Behind the Bash met our expectations.
Even though is was raining on our wedding day the wedding turned out beautifully. The venue is very versatile. Beyond the Bash catering was delicious. We got married on a Sunday and it was half the cost of the venue on Friday or Saturday. Mysti our coordinator was excellent in making sure everything went smoothly.
Cannot say enough great things about this venue for my wedding reception and ceremony! Amazing food (so many of my guests specifically mentioned this to me), day of coordination services are included, and beautiful grounds and property! HIGHLY RECOMMEND
We got married at the Parador March 1, 2015. It was pretty perfect. The parador requires you to use Behind the Bash for catering and wow they are doing you a favor! The venue is beautiful. I wanted to get married in the garden but it rained that morning so we weren't allowed to however inside was still gorgeous. There was plenty of room. The staff was accommodating and helpful when we needed them. I will say my sister and I showed up early and had to wait to get inside as they are very strict on rental period time, but that's reasonable, you get what you paid for. We got married on a Sunday which was less expensive to rent, and then paid for security through the parador and our deposit. We did receive our deposit back in full so total cost was actually only 3.480. Overall we were very happy wedding was gorgeous and guests were happy. No complaints at all.
The Parador was the perfect place for our wedding. We wanted a classy garden wedding and that's exactly what we had. Behind the Bash catering was great to work with and our wedding coordinator provided through Behind the Bash, Christina was amazing. She made me feel so comfortable and was able to help me figure out all those small details that seem so overwhelming. I would definitely recommend the Parador!
We had our wedding at The Parador in November 2014. The venue is an historic "Christian Science" church that has been converted into a wedding venue. The Parador is ideal if you're looking to have your wedding/reception in the same venue. The offer a fantastic outdoor garden for cocktails as they change over the room (can be moved inside if it rains).
Initially we were thinking of an outdoor wedding, but since the location is on a busy intersection (Binz and Almeda), it's not conducive if you're concerned with noise as we were.
The inside of The Parador is exquisite. It's been restored to it's original luster and is the perfect setting for 100 to 150 guests. Since it was originally a church the venue is ideal for weddings.
I found the manager, Sheila very accommodating with our set-up requests, plus they work with "Behind the Bash", an exceptional caterer in the Houston area.
As for logistics, there's plenty of parking if you have up to 150 people (I believe they have about 70 spaces), plus the location is in the heart of the "arts" district.
I recommend this venue.
I would plan my wedding at the Parador in a heartbeat! Stacey and Sheila were amazing! I loved every minute of the wedding and the planning process was very smooth with the Parador! Even the caterer that is paired with the Parador, Behind the Bash, was great and very helpful! I recommend the Parador for a truly unforgettable experience!
Had my wedding last year at the Parador and Behind the Bash (all inclusive). Guests raved about the garden and beautiful indoor space. Everything was included which made wedding planning easier. Photos came out phenomenal especially outdoor ones. Couple things I would have preferred differently; one would be that food is ok and not exactly to my taste, but still had enough variety that you can choose what you want. Second would be that the coordinator I had (Rebekah) was great, but I felt rushed during photos that I had to schedule another session with my photographer to get shots I missed! Despite these things, I still recommend the Parador if you want a no-frills, romantic setting.
I had my wedding at the Parador recently and I am so glad we chose this venue! This venue is gorgeous! We fell in love with all the historical details and the beautiful garden in the back. The rental also comes with tables, chairs, linens, easels, table numbers, free tasting soiree, centerpieces (if you decide to use them), and most importantly...an event coordinator!
The venue also requires use of their catering service, Behind the Bash. Our coordinator, Christina, with Behind the Bash, was awesome. Throughout the whole process, she was very responsive to emails and flexible with last minute changes. She went above and beyond to make our day special and less stressful. All my guests said it was the best wedding food they ever had! The overall cost (venue and food) may be a little high for some, but I felt it was definitely reasonable and worth what you get. I would definitely recommend this vendor!
The Parador was just perfect for our wedding reception. We set up three areas for our guests. There was a bar outside in the garden, which is really pretty. It was a beautiful day, so many of our guests stayed out there playing cornhole and enjoying the weather. Dinner was set up in the Duomo and the band was in the Cloister. Therefore, people were still able to sit and chat once the band started without the music being too loud. The Cloister was just right for the band and the slate floor meant we didn't have to rent a dance floor. Sheila was nice to work with. And, Behind the Bash Catering did an amazing job with the food, service and set up. If there were any problems, I was totally unaware. I would highly recommend The Parador!
We recently had our wedding and reception at The Parador. I fell in love with the beautiful architecture and loved the history behind the venue. It was early spring but the weather ended up being fantastic and we were able to utilize the gorgeous garden for our cocktail hour.
I can not rave enough about Rebekah with Behind the Bash, she is quite the pro at coordinating the event from start to finish. She helped keep the evening running smoothly, including a room flip! I originally had reservations about a room flip between the ceremony and reception, however Rebekah and her team made the process seamless. They were extremely helpful and made me feel at complete ease during the event.
I highly recommend this fantastic venue and wonderful Behind the Bash team! You will be in excellent hands with this seasoned crew.
I used this venue for my wedding reception and it was absolutely perfect! The day of wedding planner (Rebekah of Behind the Bash) told us what to do and when- we never had to worry about anything. Everything was executed above my standards as a bride.
The facility is beautiful and many standard service items are included with the rental fee.
We loved the atmosphere and style of the Parador. It is a beautiful venue, with high ceilings, a wonderful garden, and lots of space for our ~150 guests. The Parador doesn't need much decorating because it is a beautiful space on its own, and at night when the tea lights are twinkling it creates a special look. The Parador only works with one caterer, Behind the Bash, so once you book the venue you mostly deal with Behind the Bash people for all the other decisions (food plus decorations, etc). If you are looking for a unique venue for your wedding, The Parador is the perfect location!
Wedding Coordinator was the best.
I had a outdoor ceremony in this venue. They have a beautiful garden with white chairs set up for the event. It was gorgeous. The inside is very different from most of the venues in Houston, whereas it looks more like a villa located in the heart of a south american country. One thing to note is that even if you pay for the highest tier of open bar, there is still NO SHOTS allowed. And if they were not prepared for the amount of alcohol consumed, they will find a reason to close the bar early even if it's supposed to be open bar. Not happy about that. Good food. Good menu selection. Most people were very accommodating throughout the wedding planning process.
We spent so much time reviewing venues. We wanted an outdoor space and the Parador has an amazing garden. We also wanted a good inside backup in case it rained on our wedding day. (Luckily we had one, because it poured!). The interior of the Parador is just as breath taking. Not only did our guests not notice, they all were blown away by the place. The staff and service was very accommodating and did a great job! Oh, and I really wanted my pup in the wedding and when I we realized it was going to rain I was worried he might not be allowed indoors but they were very flexible! And they have a nice building in back that all the girls can get ready in which was great! We highly recommend the Parador.
We loved that the Parador could host both our ceremony and reception, as well as all the southwestern food that Behind the Bash catering (their in-house catering service) could provide. The main rooms were large enough for out 150 guests, and it also has a couple smaller rooms, including one we used with a babysitter. It was a gorgeous venue that we loved!
The venue is beautiful without having to do a lot of decorating. The staff was very helpful!
Great place!
Beautiful location inside and out and awesome staff!
I fell in love with The Parador the minute we walked in. It's very unique if you are looking for something different than having your wedding in a hotel. It has a beautiful old church setting with a high ceiling and dome, a stage area we used as our dance floor, and a beautiful outdoor courtyard that we used for our photo sessions. They are so easy to work with and communicated with us every step of the way. The cocktail room is very spacious and has a very elegant air about it. The best part of all, is you get the whole place all to yourself for the day of the wedding.
When I found the Parador, I knew it was the venue of choice. They have great services and are reasonably priced for a venue in Houston. The grounds are amazing (especially in April! I couldn't have asked for a better location.
About how fabulous everyone at the Parador is. Everyone had me prepared for everything to go wrong on my wedding day, but besides some rain, which was uncontrollable by them, everything was perfect. Mysti had everything under control all evening long, made sure everything went perfectly, bustled my dress for me, and even changed my shoes to flip flops. If I had it to do all over I wouldn't change a thing, the food was amazing... All 300 of my guests fit and had a fabulous time. She even called Hotel Za Za to get our limo outside. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!!!
I absolutely love the Parador! I have been watching weddings happen all my life here and remember thinking this place must be pretty nice. So naturally when my time came they were number one on my list and shut down all of the competition! Two amazingly open rooms with gorgeous high ceilings and an amazing courtyard made me day better than i could have ever expected! Little decoration was used because of how wonderful everything already is. A few candles and flowers and that was it! My dream come true.
We got married at the Parador on October 29 and LOVED IT!! We were doing our best to avoid a hotel, traditional reception hall, and having to share our venue with another event during our wedding -- the Parador answered all of that and MUCH more!
For us, the # 1 advantage of the Parador is that it comes along with Behind the Bash Catering -- delicious food, all of your tables, chairs, plates and linens, and a wedding day (weekend, really) coordinator. We worked with Mysti McKinney from BTB, and she took care of absolutely EVERYTHING, which was immensely helpful since we were planning the wedding from NYC.
Highly, highly recommend the Parador and Behind the Bash catering for anybody -- but especially for an out of town bride!
This was the perfect setting for us. Something different than a typical hotel ballroom, the place has character and a warm, cozy feel - especially in the evening. Received many complements with this sentiment. The venue provides different pricing options for a great value, and Sheila was very easy to work with.
The only "downside" is that we had to split our tables between two adjacent rooms due to the size of our wedding (~325). The space ideally accommodates up to about 225 to have all the tables in one room.
Overall, a great experience and we'd choose it again.
The Parador is simply fantastic and beautiful! They took care of soo much for me and made sure the day went flawlessly! The coordinator was on top of things and they were very accommodating.
while i was setting up my wedding the parador would only let me use their selected vendors. When i found an outside vendor, they claim to never have talked to them even though i was on the phone during one contact. Had to have the wedding somewhere else because of the caterer.
We were thrilled to have our March 2011 wedding at The Parador in Houston. This venue is such a romantic and unique setting, and the overall feel and look of the ballroom and gardens was my main reason for booking with The Parador. At first I was disappointed that there was a room rental charge that could not be waived because the venue operates independently from the food and beverage service, so it does not mater to them how much you plan to spend on food, they still want their rental! So overall the pricing is higher than other wedding venues I visited, but Mysti, the Catering Manager for Behind the Bash, made me feel like the only bride in the world, and worked with me every step of he way to make sure I was totally comfortable with everything. Also, yours will be the only event held there on your day, and I think that is a huge plus. The gardens are absolutely gorgeous for the cocktail hour (if weather is on your side), and I have received countless compliments about the venue! I think it was one of my best vendor choices I made.
I held my reception at the Parador and it was nearly perfect! The venue itself is lovely... very high ceilings, multiple rooms and gardens to explore. There was plenty of room for our 200 guests and everyone enjoyed having multiple spaces to inhabit. The venue fee was more expensive than some other places we looked at, but not unreasonable.
With the Parador, comes Behind the Bash catering. The food was pretty standard wedding food, but what made the night was the wedding coordinator provided by Behind the Bash. She was everywhere - organizing the band, fixing my dress, keeping the time-table. She literally made our night effortless! I would highly recommend them just for her services alone.
The staff at the parador was phenomenal! The venue is all it's cracked up to be. It's a litle pricey however the building is absolutely beautiful
The Parador was the site for my October wedding reception and it was absolutely beautiful! It's such a unique venue, and we utilized all the space it offers. Our guests loved the cocktail hour in the gardens, and the lighting of the dome at night was totally perfect. It's absolutely the feel we were looking for! Would definitely recommend this for the bride who isn't looking for a standard hotel wedding. Really special place!
