I can't say enough wonderful things about the Nathan Hale Inn!! We had our wedding reception here on July 28th. It was perfect! Missy, the wedding coordinator, was prompt with responding and was truly helpful while we were were asking for advice. She was always on top of everything to make sure we were on the same page! Honestly we selected this venue after the first time we went to visit when we bumped into the family of a bride and groom who were married there the night before. They raved about the food, Missy, and overall service and experience, I see why!! We looked at many different venues and nothing compared. We almost went with another venue under a tent until we toured the Nathan Hale Inn. The other venue was literally more than double the cost and didn't include everything the Nathan Hale Inn did! Definitely not worth going broke over a wedding, this venue was perfect. We had around 140 guests and fit nicely inside the tent. Missy, the coordinator, set up our dream reception while asking for our input along the way, sending us different diagrams of the possible layouts and asking what we thought or if there was anything that should be changed. Though wedding planning is stressful, she was always wonderful! The value for this place is unbeatable! They give you a night free with a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. They also give discounted rates for your guests, also included are cheese/crackers and veggies for appetizers at dinner, champagne toast, tablecloths, and napkins. There are no hidden fees or costs that pop up here. You know upfront what you will be paying for. The cost can't be beat but when everything is set up, it does not look cheap by any means. Very elegant feel at all times! Many people complimented us on the look and feel of the venue. The food entrees were great ($30 per person!) and we loved going to taste the food a few months before (also included in the cost). The only piece of minor feedback is that the line for the open bar was long at some points. Not the bartenders fault by any means, she was working alone. Perhaps they could have a line for just beer and wine too so that would make it go faster. But honestly, no one complained and everyone still had plenty to drink! Everyone loved the space which was renovated this year, new light fixtures, carpet, dance floor, oh and it is air conditioned too, perfect for the end of July! They were very accommodating to our allergy guests. We also had a vegan guest, again they said no problem. They went above and beyond for us. For instance, they had us look at the beer/wine list and asked if it was good for us or if there was anything else we wanted. We requested IPAs and Blue Moon beer, again was no problem for them and no extra charge. Get married here! You won't regret it!!
I have nothing but compliments for the Nathan Hale Inn staff during the planning and execution of my wedding on July 14, 2018. The venue is beautiful, the rooms are comfortable and clean, the food was amazing, and the cost really can't be beat. The wedding package included: cheese & crackers during the cocktail hour, a champagne toast for all guests, 2 main choices for a dinner buffet or plated dinner, an overnight sleeping room for the bride and groom the night of the wedding, a bottle of champagne and 6 chocolate covered strawberries for the bride and groom's sleeping room, discounted rates for guests that want to stay in the hotel for your wedding, white or ivory tablecloths, tables and banquet chairs, and table settings. My husband and I added some updates, including a third main dish option, an additional type of salad, the ice cream sundae bar, and we had an open bar. All of this, and the total was $8,400. I don't mind sharing what we paid because rule #1 for wedding planning is to set a budget. We did not want to spend a fortune, but we wanted a nice wedding. We researched lots of venues in Connecticut, and the Pavilion at the Nathan Hale Inn allowed us to have our perfect wedding at a reasonable price. This was definitely the right choice for us. The tent is beautiful, with swag ceilings and lighting, and since it is enclosed, it is able to be air-conditioned, which was a necessity since we had a mid-July wedding. The food was delicious, and the staff was always professional and helpful. The event coordinator, Missy Diloreto, is amazing. She answered all of my questions quickly, paid close attention to all details, accommodated all of our requests, and went the extra mile for our guests with food allergies. Plus, she's just super-nice and easy to work with, which lessened the stress of wedding planning a lot!
We had our wedding at the nearby Adventure Park at Storrs. This was the only hotel that was close by, so I was keeping my fingers crossed that it would work. It did. We did not have any issues with room cleanliness, but the rooms (as they indicate on their website) are minimalist. These are not super fancy rooms, but they worked out fine for our purposes. Missy was fantastic to deal with. She was responsive to our emails and phone calls, helped us work out a few reservation snafus with ease, and was sensitive to our budget constraints. She even waited to meet us on the evening of our rehearsal dinner, which I thought was great. All our guests were really surprised by the food quality at the rehearsal dinner, too. We were expecting a somewhat plain chicken dish, but everything was beautifully seasoned. Shawn was our main server that evening and Caitlyn was our bartender. They were fabulous as well. They kept the drinks flowing and were very patient with our somewhat rowdy bunch. I would definitely recommend this place to others.
The tent is beautifully lit at night. The staff was excellent and worked with us to make the night perfect. After the reception was over some guests were able to go the the lounge and others went to their rooms. No worries about drinking and driving.
