Very mixed opinions with this venue. First off, this venue is beautiful. They've updated a lot and it shows. Pictures were gorgeous. The wait staff was lovely and the food was mainly- (that'll come later) decent. Lisa was attentive responding t...o emails promptly & showing us around the venue.
Our main issue was with Lisa, actually. She is a nice person and very attentive to details, especially as planning a wedding is hectic and the ball can easily be dropped on little things. That being said, we are grateful for her help with that. But, she came off to many of our family and guests as abrasive.
The day prior to the wedding we were to come by from 1130 to set up and had until 3pm. Atleast from the email exchange that's what we thought. Around 1pm, Lisa seemed to be agitated and said that she was late & was "supposed to leave 15 minutes ago" but cannot leave until we are done. Thankfully, we were able to wrap everything up as we had a lot of help. A few other minor things that day, and my aunt said she was given attitude about having to vaccum the carpet now because we were cutting fresh flowers for centerpieces.
Anyway, the day of- the cocktail party was well under way when my new husband and I arrived. We came in the back door and were immediately pulled aside to address an issue with two people who came but weren't listed (we paid for 2 extra plates anyway for a guest who passed away just prior to, so they just sat there.) As we are taking pictures on the dance floor, just the bridal party, our photographers are taking pictures & Lisa jumps in and starts rearranging our bridal party by height, which we didnt ask for or want. Also while literally yelling at a guest for coming in the door from the cocktail room.
So then we go back out the door to come in the main door to rejoin our cocktail hour. As soon as we walk in the front doors, Lisa comes to us again saying, "Your guests have already gone through 15lbs of shrimp so...?". We just kinda shrugged, like who cares? But it seemed like a big issue to her.
During dinner Lisa comes up to our SH table & told us that a man with a boutineer was being rude & slamming his glass at the bar and shell have to ask him to leave if it continues. Also that one of our guest threw up in a trash can during the cocktaiks and that she "didnt appreciate having to clean it out of the trash can". It was my husband's 85 years old grandfather, who had not been drinking. He ate a potsticker & said he felt sick. He very quietly, threw up into the trash can. If you were not standing directly near you would not have even realized what happened. He felt bad and apologized to us, which wasnt needed. Alan dint appreciate Lisa making it sound like he was a drunk throwing up all over. He then went to speak with his father, embarrassed that our dinner was interrupted & he had to go talk to his dad & address whatever happened . The bar supervisor came over & I asked him about it . He waved me off & said it was not a big deal & that the man had apologized. Many times Lisa interrupted our night for things that did not need our attention & guests nick named her The dragon lady. 3 more people threw up who didnt drink, including my 6yr old. Lisa brushed it off the next day saying she ate the food and was fine. 🙄 She had an issue with drunk people even though they have a bar. Nobody broke anything or was out of control, yet she complained about people drinking.
So beautiful and affordable but proceed with caution.
