During our planning we visited a few vendors in Avon and unfortunately we were unable to meet up with Kerri in person due to unforeseen circumstances. I mention this because although we never met face to face until a few days prior to the wedding we never felt concerned – at all. Kerri is very thorough and detail oriented and we were always on the same page. We had regular calls and she made sure we knew she was available if we had any concerns. In fact when we finally met, it was as if we’d known each other for quite some time. The day of the wedding went smoothly. We met Kerri at our site to take care of a few details when we realized a vendor did not deliver all items as planned. There was no panic from Kerri, but absolutely a sense of urgency and that became a priority (and was quickly resolved). We were able to leave the venue hours before the ceremony and feel really good about all of the details coming together. Sure enough, when we arrived for the ceremony and reception went smoothly and we were never distracted. If getting married was an annual thing, we’d book Kerri every time. I have to say, I am extremely disappointed that I won't get to work with her anymore, but I will cherish the year that we had together. She's just amazing as is her team. PA, my first thought was that we needed a wedding planner. From our very first conversation, Kerri knew what we were looking for even though we had no idea and assured us she'd find exactly what we wanted. And, oh, she did that and SO MUCH MORE. And Kerri brought it all together with absolutely no stress. I know that reading this that you may not believe it but it is the total truth and I told her this time and time again throughout our time together. We did have to worry about a thing. Kerri took care of it all. If we ran into a glitch, I would tell my daughter to just email Kerri and the next thing we knew, there was an email back saying that it was taken care of. And I quickly realized I didn't even need to ask how it was taken care of because I learned very quickly that "taken care of" meant taken care of the best way possible so no need to even put thought or concern into it. Kerri connected us with some awesome vendors and definitely connected us with the ones that were perfect for us. We LOVED them all. But all of that said, the real testimony was, of course, the wedding day itself. The day of the rehearsal when Tropical Storm Julia was announced to be visiting the OBX, Kerri reassured us that if at any way possible, our daughter's outdoor wedding would happen and if that just couldn't happen, she had a Plan B, C and D. And this was the true test of the stress-free wedding that I was talking about. Here we were facing a tropical storm and Kerri was totally calm, cool and collective and she hugged my daughter and assured her that she was 100% in control of whatever came our way and would take care of it. And that is EXACTLY what she did. She worked with the decorator to set up Plan B for the reception (which turned out perfect) and she told us that she was getting our daughter and her fiancé married on that dock, out in the middle of the sound, if there was any way possible. We braced for the worst and got the best!!! Despite a huge storm the night before the wedding, we had a perfect wedding day and Kerri's positively calming voice and professional, caring approach with everything seriously made us relaxed about everything that was happening around us. As the mother of the bride, I never expected to enjoy my daughter's wedding the way that I did because when hosting an event I am usually concerned with details and making sure that everyone has what they need. Because we chose Kerri, the most amazing wedding planner in the OBX, I enjoyed EVERY SINGLE MINUTE of my daughter's wedding and reception and didn't have to give the tiniest thought to anything that was happening around us because I knew that Kerri had it "taken care of" in a way that only Kerri can do. essional presentation. From the outset, Kerri offered suggestions and ideas we had not considered and this was even before we formally engaged her services. It quickly became apparent to us that we made the right decision. Whenever we spoke to a potential vendor during the early stages of the process, we were asked "who is your planner?". When we would simply respond Kerri without mentioning her last name or her company name, the vendors all responded with a smile and the statement "she's the best!" Every bit of advice was spot-on. Her vendor recommendations always came with choices and pros and cons about each. When issues arose, she provided sound guidance. As the big day approached, Kerri actually moved to an even higher level. Her organization and coordination of all of the vendors left my wife and I the time to really enjoy ourselves and our daughter's wedding rather than worry when and how things will get done. Kerri and her assistant Mary worked tirelessly that day, on-site for over 12 hours, ensuring all went as planned. A couple of situations arose that could have been quite problematic but Kerri very quietly and effectively resolved them. Without question, I strongly encourage you to start your search with Kerri; you won't need to go any further!

Shortly after we were told that we had to talk with Kerri, a wedding planner in the OBX from friends who had an idea of getting married down there but ultimately went down another path. I received her information from our friend and quickly contacted her. My husband and I set up a conference call with her for later on in the week. Upon the first five minutes of speaking with Kerri I felt upbeat, excited about my wedding and put at ease about the entire process. Both of us knew right away that we would be booking with her. We booked with Kerri about a year and a half away from our actual date. She immediately provided us with time lines of when we should be doing what and a general plan. We had monthly calls and email communication that we genuinely looked forward to. Kerri wanted to know more about us as a couple and individuals to help us plan our wedding and to help us understand who the best vendors were for us. We live in DC and trust me when I imagined planning a wedding in the OBX I saw dollar signs and multiple trips down to coordinate everything. We only made ONE TRIP during that entire year and a half. In that time Kerri organized our cake tasting, 3 catering tastings, meetings with our officiant and a visit to the house. We never questioned if working with Kerri was a good fit for us but trust me the fact that we only had to haul down there once was a huge help on our budget, time and sanity. The overall process was seamless and truly enjoyable. She worked with us to create a budget highlighting what we had described as being important for our event. She constantly kept us in check with what our vision was and what was truly important about us for our day. She constantly went above and beyond wit h communications with our vendors, organizing our contracts, receiving multiple shipments of things needed for the event and just being the anchor of our wedding. Each of our vendors that Kerri helped us choose were remarkable people and provided remarkable services. Kerri has truly become a part of our new family and we now look forward to our trips down to the OBX to relive the memories of our wedding and to visit our new OBX family. She was amazing during this process and totally understood my vision and worked with me to make our wedding so special. For a year she helped plan our dream wedding at our favorite outdoor spot and she worked around my ridiculous schedule, answered all my crazy questions, and didn't let me forget any important details even though I am not the most organized person. She has great connections and helped me choose all the best vendors based on what we were looking for (and they really were the best!). When the weather started looking threatening, we decided to have a spur of the moment casual secret ceremony a few days early with just our family at our special spot. Kerri dropped everything to be there with only an hour notice, and she even arranged for a wonderful photographer to meet us there! It was something I hadn't thought would be important at the time but I can't imagine not having photos to remember that special ceremony! Thank goodness she thinks of all the things I don't. She even watched the radar to find us the perfect time between rainclouds to walk down the aisle. When hurricane/tropical storm Hermine decided to come through on our wedding day, she bent over backwards to change everything around at the last minute to make it happen at an indoor location she had kept in her back pocket. She somehow kept me sane the whole time. She pulled it off without me stressing about any of the complications that kept arising due to the storm with its scattered power outages, high winds, flooding, and downed trees. She allowed me to enjoy my wedding day but was by my side when she needed to communicate important changes or get an opinion. All my guests got there safely and we had a beautiful ceremony with the winds and ocean raging outside, followed by an awesome party no one will forget. If I had to do anything differently, I would have bought her biggest package and let her do everything from the rental house to the rehearsal dinner, to all the meetings with the vendors, etc. She just knows her stuff and if you want it done right just let her do it! Kerri was at the site everyday before the wedding, inspecting the grounds, the tent, the possibilities for getting me to and from the reception site without my wedding dress getting muddy - you name it, she thought about it, came up with options and executed a solution. Kerri for a lot of it's success. From the beginning Kerri was organized, supportive, and gave great advice. She provided a thorough month to month timeline that kept us on track, which kept us from missing things or getting overwhelmed during the planning process. She knows all the vendors, and has a good working relationship with all the top vendors in the area. Every vendor we worked with was happy we had such a good planner, and knew the event would run smooth with Kerri's guidance. During the planning process she worked hard to give us the wedding we wanted, was never judgmental of our choices, kept us on track with regular calls and email updates, and was our advocate for us when dealing with our vendors. We never would have been able to keep everything on track without her on board. Perhaps the most glowing thing I can say about Kerri is that she kept my wife sane during the planning process. She is worth every penny.

beach.(We drove to the beach after the courthouse wedding and took pictures, but it wasn't the same thing!) It was Kevin's and her idea of a dream wedding. I decided to rent a house in the Outer Banks this summer for a family vacation. My other daughter commented on hearing about lovely weddings at the Outer Banks, but the house we rented was on the 4x4 area and not accessible for vendors/guests. The idea had taken seed though, so we got on line to look up places and decided we needed a wedding planner. The dream wedding (renewal of vows) was now in full swing. We found Keri Catino-Nelson and The Proper Setting on line. We read the reviews about her business and emailed her. She responded and we liked her immediately. We set up a phone conversation and hired her. The entire wedding planning was done through phone calls, emails and Keri's absolute attention to details.We had never been to the Outer Banks, let alone were familiar with venues and vendors. Keri was a gem with wonderful suggestions. We never saw the venue until we arrived the day before the wedding (although we had seen their website and were impressed). We never met the vendors until the day before and/or the day of the wedding. Yet, the wedding and reception couldn't have been more perfect if we had lived right in Corolla NC. Keri was absolutely delightful and easy to work with. She was so detailed and kept us informed of all decision making and progress. She made sure we were in contact with the vendors she recommended, who were also absolutely wonderful to work with. It was such a pleasure to meet her in person, yet we felt we already knew her through all the contacts. She is EXTREMELY ORGANISED, pays attention to EVERY DETAIL and is so friendly and personable. We were very very blessed to have her be our wedding planner and create the perfect dream wedding at the Outer Banks. We recommend her with the highest regard! She and her business are fantastic. Oh.... my daughter is probably one of the few brides in America to get married and have pictures taken (to the same man no less) by the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. Leading up to the wedding she helped me coordinate details, and communicate with vendors to be sure we didn't forget anything. She put together our entire wedding day schedule, confirmed vendors a week out, and handled our rehearsal run through as well. She answered all of my emails very quickly, with lots of helpful suggestions and resources, and kept me focused on the important things in the planning process. But she really shined the day of the wedding. She was the perfect person on our big day to help keep the day running smoothly, coordinate our vendors, chorale guests, keep my husband and I calm, and make sure everything went well. I am floored at what an amazing job she did for us, and I wouldn't have wanted anyone else there on our big day. She knows all of the local vendors, which is very helpful especially if you are planning from afar, and she made so many great suggestions from all of her years of experience in the business. Most importantly my husband and I could completely relax on our big day, soak it all in, and enjoy our awesome party! On the big day, the weather decided not to cooperate as it started pouring with no sign of letting up. Kerri was on top of everything – she even had a weather radar app on her phone – and quickly changed gears to have the ceremony and reception inside the house. Everything was reconfigured perfectly with no issues, and looked amazing. Our guests all commented on how great everything looked inside the house, and how wonderful she was. I would highly recommend her for your wedding – it was clear that she really cares about her job and her clients. The vendors that she recommended were great as well, and you could tell they had worked together many times before, which resulted in everything flowing even more smoothly. We had a wonderful wedding and reception, and cannot think of any way it could have been better. Thanks Kerri!!

We valued her opinion, not just because of her profession, but because she genuinely cared for our best interest. Kerri's list of vendors was amazing and we couldn't have asked for a better group. Almost all correspondences went through Kerri directly, which saved us hours of interviewing, researching, and communicating with the vendors. With our busy work schedules, this was a HUGE PLUS for us. We had to travel over 7 hours to the Outer Banks for our wedding but even if we had it in our backyard, there's no doubt in our mind we would want Kerri to plan it! She was as detailed oriented as I had hoped - never omitting anything, always on top of her tasks and my to-do lists. Her dedication to our wedding was nothing less than exceptional. She didn't blink when I asked her to hang my 20 strands of folded origami cranes at the reception venue. She offered us use of her house as storage for the many candles, lanterns, ceremony accessories and other things we were compiling. The week of our wedding, she handled two nasty vendor situations with grace and patience, keeping her composure and smile in tact. Kerri made me feel as if I were her only client and that no other wedding took precedence over mine ... And that's what every bride wants. Day of the Wedding: The day of our wedding, Kerri spent the entire day hanging my cranes, setting up our tables, precisely laying out the miniature lanterns used for guest seating. She kept me in the loop and forwarded pictures of the reception space, via text message. We didn't have a rehearsal, but it didn't matter - Kerri successfully guided everyone to their proper places during the ceremony. She carefully orchestrated all of our vendors, our guests, my wedding party. She was a Godsend and I couldn't have had a more perfect day, without her. Bottom Line: Kerri was amazing to work with - just absolutely perfect. I can't boast about her enough and I wish her, and the Proper Setting, tremendous success.
