We hired Kerri from the Proper Setting to help plan our semi-destination wedding in the Outer Banks. We needed someone on the ground who was familiar with our venue and vendors since we were planning from DC. Kerri was absolutely fantastic! Even though we booked her on shorter notice than is typical for wedding planners (about 7 months before the wedding), she jumped right in. She took the time up front to figure out what we wanted from our day (lots of time with friends and family) and helped us structure a day that allowed us to do just that. She offered great suggestions for vendors, but never tried to box us into using anyone specific. She also gave us great suggestions for all the different ways we could use our venue, but never tried to make us stick to what she had done there in the past. Kerri was both very organized and super flexible. For example, the week before the wedding, I changed the timing of my dress change. The day of the wedding, Kerri reminded me of the change in schedule, but I had forgotten. She immediately pivoted and started brainstorming on how to reorganize the entire reception! Fortunately, I remembered and we didn’t have to make any major changes, but that just goes to show how completely committed Kerri is to making sure you are happy with your day. She even went above and beyond by helping care for the citrus trees that were part of our decor! Kerri and her assistant, Danielle, are bright, personable, completely unflappable, and best of all committed to helping you have the wedding that you want. I'm so happy I got the chance to work with them, and even happier with the way the wedding turned out :-)

I wish I was able to give even more stars... Kerri was the most incredible wedding planner we couldve ever asked for. I was sad when wedding planning was over because it meant we wouldnt be talking nearly as much anymore. She is so loved, adored and celebrated by everyone who knows her (which is a LOT of people!). I can honestly say I didnt feel stressed for a single moment - anything that wasn't going right, she found a solution for. We told her our expectations, budget and visions early on and she not only remembered every detail but never tried to push us in a different direction. I can go on and on and on... she's just amazing and we owe our perfect day to her, completely. she makes you feel like you're her only client throughout the entire process. There are not enough thank yous in the world - we love you, Kerri!

Kerri was absolutely fantastic. She had great recommendations for vendors and made all our wedding ideas happen! We got the Petite Plan from the Proper Setting, and it was definitely worth it. We were on the fence between just the Day-Of and the Petite Plans, but since we are out of state it was MUCH better to go with the Petite and having Kerri help along the way. Our wedding day went very smoothly thanks to her, and she was prepared for anything. My husband and I would highly recommend the Proper Setting!

I naively believed I could handle the wedding planning for my daughter being that I have corporate event planning experience. However, once we began the wedding planning process, I could see this would be a different experience for my daughter and I - one that is very personal and involves some emotions and stress. I really needed to be accessible only as a "mom" to my daughter. We found that Kerri's industry knowledge, OBX relationships and professionalism was exactly what we - and all brides and mothers of the bride - need to plan your special day. From vendor selection, contract review, negotiations and advocating for the bride through the entire process, Kerri's advice and direction was flawless. As far as execution, I cannot praise her enough. Our vendors were lock-step with one another as her communication was exceptional. She listens to her brides and makes their dreams come true. We cannot say enough good things about Kerri and the team at The Proper Setting. Our Whalehead Club wedding in Corolla, NC exceeded our wildest expectations in every way! It was the best day of our lives to date, in large part because of Kerri’s exceptional event management from start to finish. We live on the west coast and Kerri was incredibly accommodating with time zones for all of our planning calls leading up to the big day. She provided just the right amount of nudges to keep us on track with deadlines and payments and decisions, somehow without being nagging or pushy. Her connections and deep relationships with all the other Outer Banks wedding vendors were INVALUABLE! We really felt like we had a full team working together to make our day incredible. All of the documents we needed including the day of run of show, ceremony outline, contracts etc were organized in a shared Google folder we could all access and edit together, which we loved. She brought humor and levity to a process that can be incredibly stressful and time consuming for brides and grooms and helped us in vendor negotiations to make sure we got our vision across! The week and day of coordination on site in Corolla is really what makes The Proper Setting stand out! We did not worry about one thing during our entire wedding day. Expect for maybe getting no sleep the night prior and having too much fun haha. Kerri ensured that everything from the shuttles to the first look and the cocktail hour, band introductions, impeccable meal service and reception went on smoothly for our nearly 200 guests! It was all INSANELY amazing and we will never forget a single detail. She helped with tiny details like making sure our wedding signs were beautiful and practical and that we had a designated guest responsible for taking home all of our gifts and other items at the end of the evening. 10/10 cannot recommend enough! Kerri will forever be a part of our OBX memories and if you’re getting married on the island, there is no better decision you could make for yourself and your family than to hire The Proper Setting. Kerri and her team were the best money we spent for our wedding by far!! I didn't think I needed a wedding planner, but my mother and mother in law told me I should just look as we live in PA. The Proper Setting completely exceeded all of our expectations of what expect from a wedding coordinator. Kerri and her team truly gave us the wedding of our dreams. Kerri put in so much time for months beforehand, between emails and zoom calls to help us set our plans and ease any worries we had. She was always quick to respond and so attentive no matter how big or small my questions may be. She was so knowledgeable and brought up suggestions and ideas that I would have never even thought of without her. We were able to build such a close relationship that on the day of the wedding, my husband and I were able to relax and enjoy getting ready because we completely trusted Kerri and Daniele to run the set up. The whole day was executed perfectly and I had the privilege of feeling relaxed and able to soak in every moment thanks to them. If you are even remotely on the fence about hiring a coordinator for your big day, DO IT! We opted for the "Day of" package from Proper Setting and it was nothing short of amazing. We had several meetings with Kerri and Danielle in the months leading up to our wedding day to create timelines, connect vendors, etc then on wedding day, our families didn't have to lift a finger! Danielle and Hannah came in and set up our decor so beautifully. They directed all of our vendors on where to go, controlled our parking situation, etc. If there was a hiccup the morning of our wedding, I knew nothing about it! My husband and I got to enjoy our morning with our friends and families and that is something I am so grateful for! If you want a beautiful, stress free wedding, go with Proper Setting!! A few things that make the Proper Setting the ultimate dream team – great attention to detail, vast knowledge of all the tiny details that go into making a wedding perfect, close relationships to local vendors and just really wonderful people to have on your side. We got married in OBX this fall and we started planning it on our own. We soon ran into issues with the venues and vendors in the area and felt so frustrated. We happened to run into Kerri after a wedding expo and she jumped into to help us right away! She is warm, caring, capable, organized and efficient. Kerri and her team are AMAZING. We booked our wedding at a venue in the OBX that wasn’t meeting our needs for planning our wedding. We met Kerri at the wedding expo and thank god we did! She absolutely saved our wedding and it was so most perfect day because of her and her team. Throughout the planning process she was always available, we had calls every few weeks, and she had an answer for any and everything. She was always extremely fast at responding. She also advocated for us through the whole process and any issues we had with our venue and/or vendors. We absolutely could not have done this without her, and we are so grateful to have found her! Kerri goes above and beyond to make sure you feel comfortable and that your event/wedding goes as perfect as possible. She has the knowledge of the OBX and the vendors that serve there. Not to mention, every vendor I spoke to had nothing but amazing things to say about her! I cannot recommend The Proper Setting enough. If you have an event, do not hesitate. Hire them! Kerri was awesome! She kept us organized and on track, guiding us through all parts of the planning process and wedding day (some that we would never have known to think about!). Her knowledge of the Outer Banks and relationships with vendors was immeasurably helpful. Our wedding day was perfect (I’m still not entirely convinced she didn’t have a role in the beautiful weather we had at the end of August) and the day’s events were seamless and truly stress-free for us. We cannot recommend her and her team enough.

Kerri is amazing!! My (now) husband and I decided to get married at the Outer Banks. This sounded great in concept, but we also knew very little about the vendors and were both hours away from the location. Kerri and her team to the rescue! They took care of everything, leaving the fun decisions to us. The result was a magical, memorable day for both my husband and me, as well as for all of our family members and guests.

We hired Kerri after we had already chosen our venue and weren’t sure what to do next…or when. I consider myself fairly organized and wasn’t sure if I needed a planner, but Kerri’s vast knowledge of the Outer Banks and close relationships with the best vendors in the area were crucial in planning our dream wedding from afar. We worked with Kerri for over a year leading up to our big day and had regular emails/calls along the way to ensure everything was on track. Kerri’s sense of humor and calm demeanor helped reduce my pre-wedding anxiety and I don’t know what chaos she had to manage behind the scenes on our wedding day…but everything was perfect for us and we had a great time!! Not only did we have a great wedding day, but we fell more in love with the Outer Banks along the way and are already planning an anniversary trip. If you are getting married in the Outer Banks, you will not regret hiring The Proper Setting and working with Kerri and her team.

Choosing Kerri as my wedding planner was one of the smartest decisions I’ve ever made. I don’t live locally so I knew I needed help planning things from afar. She went above and beyond to make the entire process a breeze. She connected me with every vendor & gave honest feedback while also giving me freedom to make all decisions. She was so responsive, patient, and understanding as my decisions changed throughout the process. She showed up to my rehearsal with Danielle and they quickly went through everything and made sure everyone understood the plan. They meant business! I keep calling Kerri and Danielle my fairy godmothers because they created a such magical day for us, and they somehow anticipated everything before I could even ask. At some point in the evening, I randomly said to my husband that I wish I had a bobby pin, and out pops Kerri with a handful of them and she quickly fixed my hair for me. Even the fact that we had to move dinner from outside to inside, after experiencing it, I’m glad it happened that way. They made my back up plan better than the original plan and I wouldn’t change a thing. Kerri told me from the beginning that her goal was to never let the bride know if things go wrong and she stayed 100% true to her word. Everything went off without a hitch and they handled things that I had no idea about until the next day. My wedding was by far the best day of my life, and it would have never happened (at least not successfully) without Kerri and her team’s help. I don’t think I could thank them enough for all the hard work they put into making our day perfect.

My daughter hired Kerri and her team after the in-house coordinator left the venue we were working with. Our ensuing panic was immediately eased by Kerri and we had the confidence we needed knowing we were now in good hands! Kerri was fabulous keeping us on track with contract deadlines and in keeping clear the vision we wanted and communication with our vendors. She is smart and tough while also being friendly and charming. She is the person that gets the work done! She was able to help us with the remaining hires we still needed with her inside knowledge of quality vendors local to the area. They were all excellent! She created a team for us and was open and easily available with communication. She truly worked hard make sure our wishes were met by the venue and other hires, and if there were any small issues that came up, she was quick with resolutions. She truly has her client’s interests at heart! There is no question Kerri and her team are the best! Look no further!

When I met Kerri, I found a soul sister. She was fantastic and took away all of the stress of planning a destination wedding. She listened, took notes, and literally took my dreams and ideas and brought them to fruition! Her legal expertise made contract negotiations go smoother. Her familiarity with the OBX and vast connections made vendor choices so much easier! The wedding went off with only one small glitch (wind blew over decorative doors) which only Mother Nature could have controlled. Otherwise, it was a perfect day! Book Kerri NOW! If you're questioning whether or not to hire Kerri...do it. I am incredibly OCD and a major control freak. I was engaged for over a year before I hired a wedding planner because I did not want to give up an ounce of control and not hiring Kerri sooner is one of my only regrets. While I am absolutely love throwing parties and can usually host without a single problem, obviously planning a wedding was new to me and I did not want to spend my day hosting. I fought against the idea of a planner for so long and finally gave in to the idea after about my thousandth stress-crying session. Hiring her was an immediate relief. She let me be in control of everything (just like I needed) but immediately responded to my millions of questions at anytime of the day, and 7 days a week. She helped me with absolutely anything that I asked for and gave me the BEST vendor recommendations. When I tell you that every single vendor I had was literally the best in the business... The entire wedding was beautiful from start to finish and that was because of Kerri. She connected me to the right people to make things happen and then she oversaw EVERYTHING. I literally did not lift a finger that day, and more importantly, no one in my family had to either. She literally even made my husband's grandmother's coffee. She handled everything and if there were any problems, I didn't know about it. Everything ran SO smoothly and I got to relax and enjoy myself. She greeted the vendors, handled where things went, passed out my tips, literally everything was done for me. I could not be more grateful for her as she is the reason I got to make actual memories on wedding day instead of working.

Do not plan a wedding on the Outer Banks without using The Proper Setting. Kerri is extremely knowledgeable not only about weddings but about all things in the Outer Banks. She made planning a week long wedding from New Jersey so simple and easy. She checks in frequently to make sure that you’re staying on track every step of the way and always made us feel like our wedding day should be exactly how WE want it to be and for that I couldn’t thank her enough! Don’t look any further for a wedding planner in the OBX! Kerri and her team are absolutely amazing!! They worked with us for 16 months to plan the most magical night and were such a pleasure to work with! She knows the best vendors to work with, helped me with tips and tricks, the things that an out of town bride would have no idea about, and worked with our schedule to make every detail perfect! I can’t thank her enough for the hard work she put in on the day of the wedding to make sure everything went according to plan! If you’re planning a wedding in The outer banks I would highly suggest working with them! I ended up doing a lot of DIY for my wedding, and she made sure that while I was getting ready, my details were placed where I wanted them, and made every detail so beautiful! She has an eye for knowing what detail and vision you want so when you are enjoying the day of the wedding you do not need to worry about anything. Not only was she an amazing wedding planner, she also became a great friend during the whole process and I feel like that speaks volumes that you can say that!! You’d be silly not to book with them!! If I had to do it all over again or if anyone would ask me who to work with, they would be my choice!

I don't know how to adequately express how wonderful Kerri is and how much I loved working with her!!!! She helped plan every single detail for my son and daughter in law's wedding weekend in the Outer Banks and there was not one thing that was not absolutely perfect from the beginning to the end! We all live in different parts of the country and truly could not have made it work without her! She helped plan the welcome party, wedding, brunch and also was super helpful with many other miscellaneous details for the week leading up to the wedding. She is organized, brilliant and efficient, knows everyone and everything about the area, and will do anything in her power to make her clients happy. She is honest and forthright and just the nicest, kindest person you will ever meet. I honestly miss meeting with Kerri now that the wedding is over because I now consider her a good friend. Kerri and her team are exceptional! They planned our wedding end-to-end, helping us build a timeline and budget, select vendors, design the experience, and managed the day of. In all aspects of planning, Kerri made the process smooth, easy, and most importantly fun. We felt little or no stress throughout the process or the week of as The Proper Setting had worked with all of the other vendors many times over and knew all of the steps that needed to be taken, when to take them, and how to ensure we had the perfect day. We also hired Kerri to help with the Friday night and Sunday brunch and she made the whole weekend perfect. We didn't have to think about any of the details throughout the weekend, she had the right people arrive at the right times and didn't expect us to do anything but have a blast! I couldn't recommend The Proper Setting more and feel so lucky that we had the fortune of working with Kerri throughout our wedding planning. Only wish we could do it all again! My best advice for anyone planning a wedding is if you can, hire a planner. And if possible have that planner be Kerri and The Proper Setting. Thank you for everything Kerri and team!

I never thought I would need a planner for a small 30 person wedding BUT it turned out the be the best decision. Being from out of town it was reassuring to have Kerri be able to meet and talk with vendors from the area, provide recommendations when needed and walk us through everything. Choosing Kerri from the Proper Setting to be our wedding planner was HANDS DOWN the best decision we made throughout the entire planning process. Planning an OBX wedding from out of state was daunting at first, but as soon as we met with Kerri the process became very simple. We got married at the Black Stallion in Corolla. She has tons of established relationships with local vendors and knows who to recommend. Her experience in the industry is second to none. She is extremely detailed, organized, and was with us for every step. There was always open communication with her and at the end of the day her goal was to make us happy and have the perfect day, which is exactly what happened. My husband and I are from New York, and having a wedding in OBX was our dream. We did not know the first thing about having a wedding in North Carolina or how to even begin organizing. The Proper Setting (Kerri) helped me plan the wedding of my dreams! Communication was great and regular, and the the whole process was well planned and organized. Loved the 'wedding timeline' that Kerri prepared for me! No matter what weddings are stressful- for me it was stress of the budget- but Kerri helped me stay calm. I was living abroad for 3 months leading up to the wedding, but Kerri took care of everything and the wedding ended up so amazing. Would highly recommend The Proper Setting for a gorgeous Outer Banks Wedding.
