Reef on the Water was the perfect choice for our wedding venue. The Pacific Ballroom was a beautiful setting, enhanced by our upgrade to gold chivalry chairs, with tablecloths and napkins included. The deck offered stunning waterfront views, and the patio was ideal with additional chairs, fire pits, and string lights creating a magical ambiance.
The food was excellent, and our guests loved the open bar. The cake from Torrance Bakery was a highlight, and there were no hidden cake-cutting fees, which was a pleasant surprise. Thank you to all the staff of the Reef on the Wate
Highly recommend The Reef for your wedding (or any event). The food was amazing – LOVED the grilled salmon and the coconut shrimp! Maria the event coordinator was always available to answer questions. The venue was very affordable with great quality and service!
We had an amazing wedding and reception at The Reef. The Venue has beautiful views overlooking Long Beach Harbor and the Queen Mary. Our ceremony was on the rooftop terrace and our photographer was able to capture some wonderful evening shots with the Harbor lights in the background. We held the reception in the Pacific Ballroom with the open-air patio. The setup of the room was great, and our guest had easy access to the ballroom, patio, and the bar. We had the Garlic Chicken and Rosemary Beef for dinner which turned out amazing and the wait staff was absolutely incredible all night long. The head waitress constantly checked in with us and our guests making sure everything was perfect all night.
The reason for only 4 stars was the communication difficulties and lack of communication from our point of contact (Nicole Ellis) to the wait staff. You must be very proactive with the Venue and most phone calls to them will go to voicemail. We worked with 3 different sales managers over the course of our planning. Brooke Simmons and Jamie Schwarcz were our initial contacts. When it came time to plan out the event and the details we worked with Nicole Ellis. We did not use a coordinator and the venue provides only minimal assistance for couples planning the event on their own. When we submitted our final banquet order and event timelines, there were some changes that did not get passed down to the wait staff working our event. The head waitress came to us and worked out these changes 30 minutes prior to the reception and her team was able to get it done. There was also missing patio furniture and table stands that our family had to ask for during set up. There were multiple events taking place at the venue that day and no clear signage or direction for our guests or other events guests to go resulting in some guests missing the beginning of our wedding ceremony along with some reception crashers at one point. The wait staff and bartenders did a great job at recognizing that the people who crashed our reception were not part of our party and removed them.
It would have been nice to have a single point of contact during the planning phase that was also present the day of the event to handle any issues that arose or any questions that we had. I believe a lot of the miscommunications that we had from our final detail planning to the day of the event could have been avoided that way. Overall, we had a wonderful wedding and reception. We can’t say enough about how wonderful the wait staff and bartenders were for our reception along with our beautiful the rooms and views were.
The Reef was the perfect venue for our wedding! Having an event during COVID is stressful to say the least. I really appreciated how transparent and communicative our event manager was. Maria Sibrian was available through phone and email for any and all questions that came up. The day of the wedding the venue was far more beautiful than we had anticipated, the food was delicious, and the staff was very accommodating.
We had planned for The Reef to be out reception venue for over a year but thanks to Covid we had many struggles. Unfortunately we never had our reception here, not because we didn't want to, but the team was absolutely amazing! Jamie was our point of contact and she was absolutely wonderful. She did everything in her power to try and make our event happen and was in constant communication with us. Whenever I needed to hop on the phone with her she was more than happy to do so. I would love to come back here again in the future to try and have another event!
My husband and I held our wedding ceremony/reception at The Reef on the Water earlier this year, and everything turned out so beautiful! We used the Sunset Deck and the Pacific Ballroom, and the views from both locations were gorgeous! The food and drinks were delicious, the staff members were kind and professional, and our wedding turned out amazing!
We had our wedding reception at The Reef this last Sunday and we cannot express how grateful we are to your team, the food and overall service. This was our dream wedding and so much more. From the moment we walked in to tour, to the booking process and the event itself was a total breeze. Our event manager was Adam and he is the biggest sweetheart and a great person to work with. Our friends and family all had a great time and I love the memories we have created! I will definitely recommend The Reef to everyone we know. Thank you again for everything and we will be back for future events.
My husband and I held our reception at the reef back in May 2019 and it was absolutely perfect! We worked with Jamie to help us coordinate everything and she was awesome. Super helpful and responsive. We held our reception in the grand ball room and we had 270 guests. We selected the buffet and the food was amazing. All of our guests enjoyed the food as well. If you have alot of people coming to your reception this is a great choice. Couldn't be happier with the way everything turned out. Highly recommend !
Room with the best view over the bay. However, the requested Iphone adopter to speaker was missing. Also, some guests food was served very late.
This venue was amazing. They were extremely accomodating to everything that I asked for. They had multiple bridal shows prior to our wedding for us to meet multiple vendors and see the best way to decorate. We got many of our vendors through their recommendations which made it very easy because they had deals and already knew the venue. We worked with Jamie at the Reef and she was beyond amazing. We were there about once a month because we loved it so much and never once did they seem like we were inconveniencing them. The night of the wedding was spectacular and they did everything we asked of them. We wanted a local area with a gorgeous view and that is just what it was. The best thing about the Reef was that it was a great value, affordable, local, great view, and very accomodating. They didn't nickle and dime us for every little adjustment we wanted to make. As long as we were willing to work with them, they were always willing to meet our needs. I would highly recommend this venue for any occassion.
We got married in August 2015 and it was a gorgeous day.
when a concert was at the Queen Mary they worked to try to get them to pause for my ceremony, however the concert would not. There was cussing through my ceremony even though the concert promised not to cuss but the Reef handled it very well and many people did not even notice the cussing. They provided my brides room and receptions with some extras to make up for the inconvenience.
Beautiful venue awesome staff
I recently had my wedding here this past November. I loved how its right on the water, and the ceremony and the reception area was close by! My Husband and I booked the Sunset Deck for the ceremony and the Harbor View Room for the reception, which had a great view of the Harbor. Unfortunately, the day before the wedding it was pouring rain, and we decided to move the Ceremony inside. The staff worked hard and was able to put together something really beautiful for my husband and I, bc I was upset that we were unable to use the outside deck for our ceremony as planned due to the weather. The only reason I gave it a 4 star instead of 5, bc the lack of communication with the catering department. we were assigned to one lady, and she responded very late in her emails and 2 month to our wedding she apparently quit, but did not bother to inform my Husband and I. We found out, when I sent her an email regarding the wedding and automatic message was sent back stating that she is no longer with the company. She left in September, and I emailed/talked to her 2 days before she was supposedly leaving the company and she did not mentioned anything about her leaving or mentioned who else we can talk to regarding the questions we had. I highly advised to always keep in touch with the catering department, we had 3 different women helping me. It was quite confusing. Also, be aware of the rules with candles. My Husband purchased a lot of candles for the reception and was told at first that the candles were passed the fire safety code. Day of the wedding they told us we could not use the candles bc it violated fire safety regulations, when we were told a t first it was approved. The lack of communication I would say was the only thing I found frustrating. Other than that, the staff set up the tables beautifully! The food was amazing and so was the view!
We had our entire wedding a the Reef and it was great. The views from the patio and the roof are unmatched in the area.
There was a change in contact for us at the Reef right before our tasting, so there was a bit of re-communicating that had to happen. However, the staff there was great and so nice to work with.
One of the servers kept bringing food to the head table to make sure that I had enough to eat. So nice!
The Reef was a great place for my wedding. Jamie, the coordinator was very nice and very accommodating. Our ceremony was supposed to be outside but of course it was pouring rain, so we were able to move it inside with a beautiful view. All of our guests raved about the food (we had prime rib, salmon and mushroom ravioli). The chicken wings were a hit as well. The only gripe I have is that they booked another event before us so we only had 1 hour to set up the reception room..which was very stressful. Overall, the Reef is fantastic!!
Beautiful view and amazing service. We were very happy and worry free. They took care of everything and did everything we asked of them as well. We had a great time and so did our guests. Many memories made on our wedding night.
The Reef had a beautiful sunset ceremony deck which provided a great background for our ceremony. The food was great and the catering department worked with us to provide an excellent reception for our guests.
The Reef is a beautiful venue on the water. The did a nice job of set-up and accommodating us. I have food allergies, and they made special appetizers and meal for me--of lamb, quite a treat! The food on the day of the wedding was better than what we encountered at the tasting. My only fault to find is that Jaime, who had been our liaison and said she would be available to help and coordinate the day of the wedding, had two other events that she was working on at the same time. We barely saw her.
I have to say, This place was the perfect location for my wedding this past September 2012. Beautiful view, service was fantastic! The staff was helpful and ready to serve you during the wedding. I would blindly recommend this vebue to anyone. I would actually pick this place all over again if I had to do it all over again. Not that we plan on doing so...
We absolutely loved our wedding cake! It is beautiful and delicious! Especially considering that we gave them the last minute notification, they did a wonderful job!
We had our ceremony and reception here and really loved it! The venue was absolutely beautiful in photos and everyone raved about it! Service was acceptable, there seems to be a high turnover rate in the staff at the catering office. It was a bit frustrating at times, and sometimes we would get different answers from different people (but I asked a lot of questions)! They were patient and helpful, even letting me get ready in an empty banquet room instead of the tiny bride's room. They were very accommodating of all our requests and the service was really great the day of. It was helpful to get ceremony, reception, cocktail hour, and cake all in one beautiful place! Highly recommend checking it out!
Beautiful view! That's the big draw to The Reef.
Also, be sure to ask them about their themed buffets that they don't tell you about when you are looking at wedding packages. We did the Mexican buffet and it was delicious and half the price!
One thing to note, I couldn't have survived there without a wedding coordinator. The staff at The Reef doesn't take on any coordinator roles, so having your own is a must.
Overall, I was very happy with my wedding there and received tons of compliments on the location, view, and food!
Overall I had a very positive experience...with the only negative being the logistics on the day of the event. I got SO many positive comments about the food...and I agree that the food (appetizers and dinner) was excellent. We did a buffet...which I highly reco because it gives LOTS of options and you don't have to wait on dinner options replies from your guests. The salmon with dill sauce is my absolute FAV!!! They were very responsive to all of my questions and requests leading up to the wedding...BUT on the day of the wedding, my day-of coordinator said they weren't as on top of things as they should have been. Luckily she was able to ensure that everything got done as planned. The location is AWESOME...great views. I had BOTH my ceremony and reception there and it was great. They have 2 ceremony locations...one on the very top roof...very open...the nicest view...and another on their garden patio. When I booked, the nicer area was already booked so I had the garden patio which turned out perfect. The garden patio is much more shaded than the other location and our reception was in the garden room adjacent to the patio, so during the reception people were able to go on to the patio which made it nice. The only bad thing is that the room didn't have a water view...but if people wanted to see the water, they were able to go out onto the patio. Our wedding was 3 weeks ago and I'm still getting positive feedback on the food and venue. For FIRST-TIMERS, I will say that finding THe Reef is a challenge. I had about 10 people who missed part of the ceremony because they got lost trying to find the place. So please provide DETAILED directions (google maps or mapquest isn't detailed anough) on EXACTLY how to get there. Finally, I really like that it was ONE-stop shopping and included EVERYthing...except a wedding planner/coordinator and decorations. I had to pay extra ($750) to use the garden patio for the ceremony...but this included a wedding arch, white chairs, an aisle runner and a microphone. There additional add-on fees for everything. You don't pay for usage of the banquet rooms, as the per person cost for the food includes the room usage. The only other negative would be that the rooms are a little old...but once everything was set-up and decorated I don't think people even noticed. My husband and I were very pleased with our wedding and would reco The Reef.
I used this site for my wedding in May 2012. The site is beautiful, no doubt. The food could use some improvement, not tasty. Liked that my venue included our wedding cake, and a great one too! One less vendor to worry about. My banquet vendor Maria, could have been more organized with replying to emails and documentation. She would end up telling us one thing and then another at a later time. I was glad I had everything documented to show her that we had agreed on one thing vs other. The day of wedding she had told us there was no other wedding at our ballroom and that we had access to it from 4PM and on. Found out through my coordinator that they did not have access to room until 15 min before 5PM which made my florist, dj, coordinator work extra fast, missing some details due to time crunch. In addition, we had bar outside in patio where cocktail hour took place that was supposed to move to the inside of our venue when it opened that was rudely not done by banquet manager that day Freddie. The outside bar gentleman was also not friendly with my guests and they only provided one bartender for 130 people. How can anyone get proper drinks with this? I paid over 2K in tips for this? I was disappointed with the fact that not all my guests got free drinks like I had paid. Overall, guests loved the view and ballroom. Service can definitely use some improvement.
This is for their wedding services only..
Had my wedding at the Reef April 7th. EVERYTHING was perfect!! The price was right from the very first booking, the people that work there are super busy but they have a lot of people in their catering office so I could always get in contact with someone. I chose the reef because of the view, the price, and the fact that they turn out 4-5 weddings per weekend. I did not want to be at a venue and deal with a bunch of different vendors. Everything came from the reef, chair covers, food, drinks, everything. Everyone said the food was good, we had chicken, the serves were very helpful and nice, and each time I called the answered each and everyone one of my calls. I say if you are looking for a nice place to hold a really nice wedding.. book at the reef.
We had our wedding reception here, for the location and amenties you can't beat their price. The ballroom was perfect, they all several different sizes available with excellent water views! Dance floors and food was great!
