The Renaissance has a selection of special wedding packages for couples to choose from, depending on their budget and needs. Some of the features of these plans include bartending, catering, and event coordination. The venue's own staff can also stay on-site to support you and your loved ones. You can start your day in the facility's own private dressing area, and spend some quality time with your party before heading to the ceremony. You will enter through the Grand Foyer, which features murals, oil paintings, and crown moldings, creating an elevated atmosphere. From here, you and your guests can make your way to the Adams Room for the ceremony. This space is also available for cocktail hours or more intimate dinners. The largest room, the Roosevelt Ballroom, is a grand space for up to 500 guests. Seated events can have up to 250 attendees. Features of this space include original hardwood floors, 30-foot high ceilings, and chandeliers. It is also fitted with a stage, for your band or DJ to use.

I wish I could do 3.5 stars. It took me a while to write this because it actually hurts me that all of this happened but I felt that I needed to do this for future brides: BE PREPARED for what the day-of experience may be like. If you book here, triple-check everything, insist on multiple buffet lines, and don’t rely heavily on their day-of coordinator.
Planning with The Renaissance was a great experience. Tommy and John were extremely responsive, which is why we ended up choosing them as our venue. They worked really well with me when it came to what I wanted for plate style, table design, and other details. The venue is beautiful, food is AMAZING. Got tons of compliments on the food (well those that got food) But the day of? You can tell where they cut corners.
Our day-of coordinator was not very good at her, she messed up the timeline because of poor execution of the buffet line and overall timeline. A bride who got married a few months before me warned me of a few things and I really appreciated it, so another reason why I wanted to share this. Our DOC definitely tried, I am not saying she didn't. I think she just lacked capability.
WE RAN OUT OF FOOD—aka a bride's worst nightmare. We had **210 guests** and asked **five months before the wedding** if we could have two buffet lines. They assured us that wouldn't be necessary. My husband thought that was weird, and well—he was right. We ran out of food. Ran. Out. Of. Food. Three tables—30 people—didn’t get anything and had to be served *chicken fingers and fries* last-minute. To make matters worse, the day-of coordinator refused to handle calling tables for dinner after I had asked her to 1 month before wedding and made our DJ do it, even though he wasn’t comfortable since, he’s a DJ, not a wedding planner. He did his best, but since he didn’t work for the venue, he wasn’t familiar with the best way to organize it. Because of this, **three tables were forgotten** and had to awkwardly come up to me asking if they could get their food. They also came up to the MOB and MOG asking if they could go get food. Embarrassing.
We told them multiple times that our crowd **drinks a ton of Miller Lite** and to make sure they stocked extra. They promised they would but they ran out an hour in.
After the wedding, they agreed to refund us for the missing food. That was in August. We didn’t get the refund until December after emailing them every single week because they either didn’t respond or said there was a “delay.”
It really sucks because I genuinely enjoyed working with them in the beginning, but they just couldn’t deliver on the day of, which is crazy considering they’ve been around for so long. They claim they can accommodate 210 people, yet we ran out of food, had only one buffet line, and the entire dinner service was a mess. I wish they had been more transparent with us about their capability to handle large weddings because throughout the process they acted like they could handle it. I am not sure how a venue that has been around so long can screw up something as simple as feeding people a buffet. It really hurts me but I again I want other brides to be prepared.
With all that said, my husband and I *would still recommend* The Renaissance because of the all-inclusive nature, the location, and how great Tommy and John were during the planning process. But future brides with a large wedding - please be prepared for what your day-of experience may be like.
They were very nice, friendly, awesome. They made our special day so beautiful.
We just had our wedding at the Renaissance on May 18th. The staff were kind, accommodating and knowledgeable. They were there from beginning to end helping us with almost every detail and questions we had. I liked the Renaissance because of their all inclusive pricing. We got the Venue, the drinks, the food and a Day of person all included in the price. I just have a few gripes with the overall service. First, we had upgraded our alcohol package to the open bar package. We stated several times after this that we wanted 3 specialty drinks and we named exactly which cocktails they would be. It was not until we started finalizing details for the big day that we were told we could not have multi-liquor beverages (long islands are my favorite) or shots. I understand they don't want people getting too drunk, but I'm upset we were not notified of this detail sooner, as if you pay for an open bar, you expect a FULL open bar ( no limitations). Second, (and this may be a review more for the Day of coordinating company but, the coordinator was assigned to us from the venue) Our Day of Coordinator was very kind and extremely helpful through out the planning. She was there for us as well with any questions or advice, and we greatly appreciated this. However, when it came to the performance on our wedding day, it was a little lack luster unfortunately. It was honestly a little embarrassing because even my family felt like she was slipping up SEVERAL times. I remember having to ask for things to be done multiple times, and although she would say "absolutely" or "I'll get right on that" with a smile, it felt as though she was very forgetful and as the night went on it was harder and harder to put my trust in her. My biggest gripe with the Day of person is ENDING MY WEDDING EARLY! My wedding was scheduled to end at 10:00 and it was about 9:20ish when she had asked if I was ready to do the exit, since some people looked like they were heading out to have a smoke/ not many people were dancing. I said "NO, I'd like to wait a few more minutes". After that, I went into the Ballroom and the DJ was announcing that it was our final song. I was LIVID because it seemed like she told our DJ to shut it down before even consulting me. Once he started playing the song, he came over and said "your DOC said you wanted to end things early is that correct?" I said "NO, but it's fine" because he was already playing the song anyway so, I just let it be. I was highly upset with her after this. My third complaint would be my Flowers, I really wanted to save some of them, my Bouquet was destroyed during the toss, but there were SO many other flowers left at the end of the night. I had already did my exit but my bridesmaids told me that our DOC was very adamant about keeping the flowers. They were also not returned to us when we picked up our decor just 2 days later. I'm thinking they just tossed them?! I'm not sure if that's the venue policy but I wish I was asked first. My 4th complaint is about my personal items. When I came to get the decor, I knew for a fact they did not clean out the bridal suite bathroom ( there were other people's things in it on my wedding day). They would not let me take a look and insisted that all my stuff was there. Turns out I had to make a 2nd trip because all my stuff was found in the bathroom as suspected I wanted to give 3 stars but I can't say that the staff did not do their very best for us. Their overall kindness & service helped a lot!
There are simply not words in the English language capable of expressing how overjoyed I am that my husband and I elected to have our wedding at The Renaissance. We live in California, but our families live in North Carolina and Virginia, so immediately after getting engaged I began to stress over how I was going to plan a wedding from nearly 3k miles away. The minute I met Tommy and Chef Jon at The Renaissance so much of that anxiety melted away. Not only is the venue beautiful (with ready made backdrops for photos everywhere, amazing windows, get ready rooms, and stunning carpeting), but the team was responsive, empathetic, and professional. Tommy answered my emails often faster than I could read them, took time to chat with me over the phone (and later through zoom) about what we wanted, and never tried to up-sell us. Instead, he would give his honest opinion about what he thought would look or feel best, and stepped back to let my then-fiancé and I decide. Chef Jon was an absolute delight on the initial tour of the building and at no point did we feel pressured to make a decision. We toured countless locations, but my gut kept bringing me back to how good my experience was with The Renaissance. After selecting them, I knew I had chosen correctly - they were there every step of the way, helping us to plan the wedding of our dreams (and in our budget). As we inched closer to the date, Tommy matched me with my wedding coordinator, Dani, and she too was a dream. She truly helped me to get my life in order and really let absolutely nothing fall through the cracks. Even when I wanted to panic about something, she wouldn't let me - she’d simply respond with all of the ways that they could make what I was worried about work (Tommy too!). Not only was the entire team warm (and funny), but I respected just how much they honored their word throughout the entire process. If they said it, they meant it - and when you're planning a wedding that is so valuable. My guests were astonished the day of. I've gotten so many compliments on Chef Jon's DELICIOUS food (his mashed potatoes are truly unmatched), as well as his support staff - who were respectful, efficient, and friendly. Further, he met the dietary needs of a few of my guests who had extreme allergies with no difficulty at all. My entire bridal party absolutely fell in love with Dani - she ran a tight ship, and from beginning to end with no one missed their mark because of her. We were all truly impressed how she managed to keep our fun-loving and unruly party together with care and compassion, rather than frustration. Tommy was sick on the actual day of my wedding, but he had coordinated things down to the very last detail, so while his presence was missed - nothing went awry. I've received compliment after compliment from my 200+ guests, and I left that beautiful venue on absolute cloud nine. I couldn't have asked for a better team or a better place to have my wedding. Over and over again I will recommend The Renaissance - it's a choice you could never regret.
First off, we had no idea what we were doing when we first started wedding planning. Our first find was The Renaissance, and they made everything else so much easier. In the months leading up the the wedding, Tommy and Chef Jon gave us all the resources we needed to find other vendors, helped us with decoration ideas, and their day-of coordinator, Dana, met with us numerous times to plan an itinerary.
As Tommy once told us, they have an algorithm for weddings that just work. It couldn’t be more true. The Renaissance team took over our wedding day, allowing us to relax, be in the moment, and enjoy our special day. They made our ideal wedding day come to life! From coordinating with our photographers and DJs, to making our ceremony room and reception all elegant, they have the perfect touch.
Chef Jon was our personal Chef for our night. His food options were incredible and tasted as if we were in a 5 start restaurant. Needless to say, our guests were impressed and everyone was adequately fed and pampered. The spread of plates and trays was gorgeous to top it all off.
In addition to Jon, Tommy and Dana, the day-of staff were AWESOME. They were friendly, kind, and were having just as much fun as all of the guests. By the end of the night, a few of them had joined the rest of our guests on the dance floor with us (shhh). Whatever they’re getting paid, it’s not enough. They made our night!
It was so fun working with this team of professionals, and I cannot recommend them enough. The Renaissance is absolutely worth the price. Give them a shot!
The Renaissance was amazing from start to finish. Everyone involved was professional and caring about how our day turned out. We originally found the Renaissance because we were looking for an "all inclusive" venue since we would be travelling and they provided just that. From the weeks and months leading up to the wedding day, I always felt comfortable asking as many questions as I could think of and was met with all the answers and reassurance I needed. The food was amazing. I never get my hopes too high with reception food, but this is food I would order and pay a good amount of money for at a restaurant. We got married in the ballroom and the whole venue looks so classy and made it feel like such an elegant wedding. Tommy, Jon, Dani, and the whole team are amazing and are excited to help plan a perfect day.
We just had a big Greek wedding and were looking for the perfect venue. We found it at the Renaissance! It’s big, clean, and has lots of extra space. We were planning this wedding and had this venue booked for over 18 months and Jon and Tommy were helpful every step of the way! They answered all of our questions fast and if there was something we wanted, they made sure we had it! They made wedding planning stress free and the whole experience was amazing- from the food, to the place settings, down to the beautiful setting. It could not have gone any better!!! also wanted to give a shout out to Dana, our day of coordinator with The Renaissance. She made sure everything ran smoothly on our wedding day and handled our hectic wedding party with ease and professionalism. Highly recommend this venue!!!!
The Renaissance is FANTASTIC! We held our ceremony, reception and brunch here, and it was a great experience!
Tommy, Jon and their amazing staff left no detail out for us, which helped a lot because we are older. :) The reception had a unique cocktail in honor of our dog, Bella, and lots of fantastic food - made by Jon - that catered to all of our guests and their unique needs. The buffet and brunches were outstanding - they tailored it according to our desires. Our guests really raved about the food.
The Renaissance team also helped me to select available vendors in the area for our floral, hair/makeup, photography, invitation, DJ, and cake needs. All of the vendors recommended by Tommy and the team were fantastic!
The amenities at The Renaissance were great. A Bridal Suite is available as well as a space for the Groomsmen - we used both and highly recommend them to help you get ready onsite. (They even let you drop stuff off in advance so you don't feel like you have to take it all on the big day.) One of our guest favorites was hands down the photo booth - highly recommended!
It is located in downtown Richmond, and there is parking and attendants to watch the vehicles, which is really nice. The facility is quite beautiful with an amazing ballroom- a rare treasure!
The day of the wedding was very busy with lots of details, but the Renaissance team made sure all was taken care of so we (and our guests) could really enjoy our special day! We had so much fun, with lots of room to dance!
They are also connected with hotels in the area and can assist you with blocking rooms if you need them. We had family from out of town and this came in really handy.
They are also very mindful of budgets and can work with you to tailor something very special with every budget.
I cannot speak highly enough of The Renaissance! Thank you again to Tommy, Jon and their amazing team!

I cannot praise Tommy and Jon enough! From the moment we toured the venue we were absolutely in love with it. They walked us through all of the details to help ensure that our special day was perfect. The Renaissance is truly a one stop shop with plenty of customizations. As the bride, I truly enjoyed being able access the bridal sweet very early the day of our wedding. Our guests highly enjoyed the easily accessible parking behind the venue, as well as the delicious food. Overall, if you are looking for a venue that is inclusive (which helps aid in the stress of wedding planning), has very knowledgeable staff, and that is absolutely beautiful then this is your place!!
Tommy and Chef Jon are AMAZING!!!!! love them both. They were so helpful throughout the process start to finish. Walked us through all the details for set up and decor and always so responsive throughout the process when we had questions. Their staff was friendly, pleasant, and very helpful throughout the night. Everything was beautiful and the night turned out amazing.
I can't say enough good things about Tommy, Jon, Precious, Dana, and the rest of the Renaissance team. My husband and I are not details people, and were nervous about pulling off a wedding in six months. From the moment we walked into the venue, we knew we were in good hands. The space is absolutely stunning, with so many gorgeous details. We loved that everything was included - we went with most of the "default" settings, but there are lots of options to customize as well. Tommy responds to emails faster than anyone I've ever met, and the customer service and flexibility from start to finish was incredible. We felt so pampered and supported the entire process. The Renaissance team helped us put together a wedding we will cherish for the rest of our lives
What a lovely setting for our son's rehearsal dinner! Having the parking behind the building in the city was a great perk, too. Jon and Tommy took care of everything and Precious, Cindy and all the staff went above and beyond to make it an enjoyable evening for everyone. The food was outstanding and displayed beautifully. The Renaissance makes it as easy and accommodating as possible and at a surprisingly low price. Highly recommend!
The Renaissance was absolutely AMAZING. Tommy and Jon make your wedding experience a breeze. They are both so knowledgeable, and Jon is an absolutely amazing chef. Tommy helped make my dream wedding come to life, and Jon made my dream of a pickle bar a reality. They go above and beyond to ensure that your day is exactly what you want. I could go on for pages about how much I enjoyed working with them both. The Renaissance itself is beautiful. The ball room is grand and romantic. The building has both a bridal suite and a grooms suite. If you’re planning a wedding, this is definitely a top tier venue!
When my fiancé and I initially went to tour The Renaissance I had already decided that I did not want a wedding in Richmond, and that I wanted an outdoor wedding. My mind was changed seconds into our tour, where I realized that there was no place that compared to this venue. My fiancé refused to view any other venue after our tour. This team is composed of the nicest people I have worked with! Their responsiveness is AMAZING, and I had their full support and attention throughout the entire planning process. I couldn’t say anything better about this team. They are incredible people and their passion for their work shows. Tommy answered of my questions so fast it shocked me, Chef Jon made the most delicious food I could have asked for, Emmett handled every situation the day of with grace and patience, and Precious and her team decorated the venue and provided service to a level that is UNREAL. I would recommend this venue over and over, they have it all! I didn’t need to search for linens, lighting, or food because they cover it all! The venue is gorgeous! It has a beautiful Victorian vibe. Everything is perfection! I love them all!! They felt like family throughout the planning process, I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect wedding. BOOK THIS VENUE!
The Renaissance made our wedding the best day ever!!! Tommy, Jon and the rest of the crew are top tier and I promise you won’t find better!! We chose this venue after being blown away by their indoor set up and various ceremony and reception options, because of their all inclusive pricing and variety of menu options and most importantly their spectacular customer service. They truly are all inclusive from food, alcohol, parking, decor, staff, coordination, everything you name it!! Any hiccup we had Tommy was right on top of things ensuring I was as least stressed as possible and that the day was seamless. Your venue can really make or break your day and you will not be disappointed by trusting The Renaissance!!
My wife and I held our 150 guest wedding ceremony and reception at the beautiful Renaissance in February 20,2022. We had been planing this wedding for a little over a year and could not be any more pleased at how great the process was as well as our wedding day. Tommy and Jon (the owners and Jon is the head chef), were so welcoming from day one and you could tell they really wanted us to have the wedding of our dreams. They gave suggestions and even went along with some new fun ideas that we wanted to try. They have the warmest personalities and by the end of this wedding journey we all felt a bit attached to each other LOL! The value of the Renaissance is unmatched—an all inclusive venue with options for upgrades, they even have their own parking lot which is great since it is in downtown Richmond. The food was superb and so flavorful! The bar and bar attendants were amazing. They have great connections with all sorts of vendors you could want and all of our vendors LOVED working at the Renaissance! Also, they have a wedding coordinator that made sure the weekend went smoothly. We’re truly at a loss for words because everything about this venue suited our needs and wants! Impeccable staff, atmosphere, food, location and amenities. We cannot thank Jon, Tommy, Emmett , and Precious enough for all their hard work and care that they put into our special day! It was a true fairytale thanks to all of them. The best decision you could make in planning your wedding is to go with the Renaissance because you’d immediately knock off so much on your to do list and lessen your stress levels!
The night after my now husband and I got engaged, I was up late researching potential venues in Richmond and quickly narrowed in on The Renaissance and have never wavered since. We got engaged at the beginning of COVID so the planning process was not easy in that respect, but Tommy and Jon went above and beyond to keep us at ease, communicate every option and possibility, and ultimately provide us with the best experience imaginable.
Aside from the stress of wedding planning during COVID, Tommy and Jon also were great with guiding us through normal wedding planning decisions. They were always quick to respond to our emails and calls, which we know from our friends is not always the case with other wedding venues. The "one stop shop" vibe of The Renaissance was IDEAL and I encourage anyone and everyone to go that route with their wedding. It totally streamlined the planning process for us and made the whole event run so smoothly. We didn't have to worry about finding vendors for catering, alcohol, tables and chairs, linens, lighting, PIPE AND DRAPE (my personal favorite), security, etc. it cannot be overstated how much of a burden is lifted when so many parts of the event are being provided by the venue.
The actual day-of leading up to the wedding ceremony and reception (we did both in the ballroom) was a breeze for me, which was AMAZING. I was able to relax and have fun while getting ready knowing that everything was in good hands at The Renaissance. The ballroom was such a perfect setting for our ceremony (we were able to squeeze all 8 bridesmaids and 8 groomsmen on stage with us, which was not an easy feature to find!) and they flipped it during the cocktail hour for an even more perfect reception setting. Jon's food was delicious from the tasting (so much fun!) to the hors d'oeuvres (specially delivered to the wedding party in the bridal suite by Precious) to the buffet-style dinner. Precious was so sweet and provided top-notch service throughout the whole night. She made us feel incredibly special as the bride and groom.
The full bar was a *hit* with all of the guests and no one wanted the night to end (so we took the party down the street to Bar Solita!), which is exactly the type of experience my husband and I wanted for our wedding reception.
The Renaissance was really the perfect wedding venue for us in the end and we sing Tommy, Jon, and Precious' praises to anyone who will listen. We've been to A LOT of weddings in and around Richmond in the last several years and have yet to experience a venue as great as The Renaissance. Just book them - you won't regret it!
I cannot express enough how amazing The Renaissance was for our wedding (10/30/21).
From the moment we met Tommy we were sold! He went above and beyond to meet all of our needs and answer every question quickly and efficiently. He actually provided more detail then I originally thought I needed! He is such a positive person and a breath of fresh air when dealing with all the stress of wedding planning.
Chef Jon is a master at what he does! The food at the tasting was incredible. We were worried about how it would be with a large wedding party, but it was perfection! Our guests raved about how great the food was.
Precious and the wait staff made my husband and I feel like we were royalty. Always checking on us throughout the night to see what we needed. I can gladly say I always had a full glass in my hand.
The venue itself is absolutely stunning! Right in the middle of Richmond - it has such a historical and elegant vibe to it. The burgundy and gold colors were the perfect touch for our fall wedding.
I HIGHLY recommend The Renaissance. The staff and venue made our day so special and I couldn't have asked for a more perfect day/night!
Choosing The Renaissance to be our wedding venue was one of the best decisions made throughout my wedding planning process. If you are looking for a place that can do it all from providing outstanding hospitality, having an eye for detail, having excellent open communications, and having a phenomenal staff, then look no further. Tommy, Jon, Precious, and Emmitt worked non-stop to give us the wedding of our dreams. Our guests are still raving about the great food, drinks, décor, and party atmosphere.
WOW!!! Is all I can say!! If you are looking for a place that KNOWS weddings / events then this is the venue for you! Every last detail is thought of! Think of the kindest, most caring person you know... that is EVERY SINGLE staff member here!! Tommy and Jon have created this magical place where anything you can imagine, they can make happen. Opening the doors to the Renaissance is like stepping through the wardrobe into Narnia. No one wanted the party to end on our night and several people even mentioned to me having the “post wedding blues” over the next week or so!
We had several meetings before hand so every last detail was nailed down. They told my husband exactly what to expect and offered great suggestions... like bringing out glowsticks for the crowd at the exact right time to keep the party going!
The day of coordinator was PERFECT and kept all of us moving and right on time throughout the evening!
One of my guest only drinks room temperature water, so she went up to the bar to ask for tap water, which she was fine with doing. Unprompted… she had 3 bottles of room temperature water at her place setting by the time she got back to her seat!
Our youngest daughter asked Precious (who you will meet and LOVE) for ketchup and Precious made a whole production of a small bowl, saucer and spoon to bring it back out to her, which she is still talking about! HAHA!
We had guest who were against weddings and marriage… and are now rethinking their VIEWS based on this wedding alone!
I cannot recommend this venue enough!! We had our dream wedding and the day was ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!!

This review cannot express my recommendation enough, plus I am not very good at putting my words in writing, with that being said,
The Renaissance goes ABOVE AND BEYOND!!!! Each and every one of them were so incredibly wonderful to get to know and made our daughter’s dream wedding reception come true!!! Tommy make you feel like the most important person in the room and your best friend working with you throughout this entire stressful wedding planning time. Emmett is the like a Secret Service agent in executing everything smoothly and beautifully in a timely, professional and caring manner. Precious and the entire staff are not only precious, but Perfectly Proficient and Phenomenal!!!!!! The food was AMAZING prepared by Chef Jon, especially the prime rib and mashed potatoes!!! And, Kelly is a very friendly, personable and talented bartender!!! Our guest are still talking about the reception being one of the best they have ever been too.
Everyone was so attentive and kind!! My mother-in-law really appreciated the help with getting her dinner and seating her. That was so sweet!!!! It's obvious they all love and enjoy working at the Renaissance!
The room looked GORGEOUS AND GLAMEROUS, GUsH, GuSH, GUSH!!!!! I wish I were there now eating and dancing!!
From start to finish, working with Tommy, John, Emily, Precious and everyone else at The Renaissance was truly a wonderful and unforgettable experience. They were all extremely professional, transparent and really made us feel like they always had our best interests in mind. The food was exceptional, the set up of the ceremony and reception was exactly as we had envisioned and they really put us at ease throughout the entire process. I would highly recommend booking an event at The Renaissance.
I cannot say enough great things about Tommy, Emmett, John, Precious, and the entire team at The Renaissance! On day one touring the venue they were warm and welcoming and helpful, and it only got better from there. I decided to book them for my wedding before I even left the building after meeting Tommy and seeing the beautiful space. From there, we had constant communication over the next 10 months of planning and I always felt like I had their undivided attention (even though I know they were planning and executing several other weddings during that 10 month span). They got totally on board with some of my more unconventional ideas, and offered valuable assistance for aspects of wedding planning that were completely foreign to me (lighting and linens and napkins, oh my). They helped me feel completely at ease on my wedding day knowing that every little thing was taken care of and planned down to the minute (and Emmett even took on bridesmaid duties when my poor girls couldn't figure out how to do the bustle on my dress)! The food was phenomenal - several people have contacted me later just to gush about it - and John went above and beyond to accommodate any diet, including when I told them just two days before the wedding that my cousin's daughter was gluten free and John made a special meal just for her.
This group loves what they do, and their passion is evident in every detail of the weddings they put on. If I could give more than five stars, I would!
From beginning to end, everything was perfect. The guys at the Renaissance helped us plan my daughter's wedding with professionalism, enthusiasm, and expertise. Every detail was taken care of and as the mother of the bride, I was able to relax and enjoy the occasion and the months leading up to the occasion, because I was sure we were in very capable hands. The wedding that you dream of all of your life as a little girl, The Renaissance can make your dreams a reality! Our wedding was 10.10.2020 and it was the best day of our lives. Everything was perfect. My fiancée and I were stress free and simply amazed with everything. The staff there is BEYOND AMAZING!!!! Tommy was our everything from the time we booked the venue until the day of our wedding. He was understanding and patience and knew exactly what to do when we had no idea what to do! He answered all our questions and more very quickly. Never had to wait long to hear back from him which was very very comforting. Chef Jon, is also AMAZING!!! His Chef Jon special cookie is a little taste of heaven!!!! He checked on my fiancée and I the day of the wedding to make sure we were ok. That moment truly warmed my heart. And our girl Precious!!!!!! OMG when I mean she is the bomb.com! She made sure my fiancée and I had everything we needed the day of! She went above and beyond to assure our food was hot and fresh and that our cups were never empty! Let me tell you about our secret fairy Emmett! He was a smooth person the day of. He was very calming and reassuring and whatever may have gone wrong that day he made sure we didn’t hear about it or see it. He made sure everything ran smoothly and assured us that everything would be ok. He made sure we didn’t have to lift a finger! Everyone else outside of those four were also amazing and very personable. Everyone was more than happy and willing to help us with whatever we needed and they always had a smile on their faces! Our wedding was everything we could have ever dreamed of and we would do it all over again. The Renaissance team is one heck of a team! We truly appreciated everything that they did for us on our wedding day. Each of them will ALWAYS have a special place in our hearts!!!!
Everything on our wedding day flowed seamlessly and we had an absolute blast The staff did a lot to help us prepare for the big day, and made sure everything ran smooth day of. It was a great wedding and I highly recommend the Renaissance for those in the market for a venue.
My guest had a great time. It’s a good location. The venue is beautiful inside and that helped with not needing to spend too much on decor. The staff catered to all our needs that day and took a lot of stress off us.
We couldn't have asked for a more picturesque setting for our wedding and are so glad we chose The Renaissance! It was absolutely perfect and heard repeatedly throughout the evening what a beautiful venue and how seamlessly it all came flowed. I still find myself looking down at my ring and remember what a perfect day we had amidst the world's uncertainty.
Tommy gave input when we asked and helped us to make the day as flawless as possible and easing all worries we had. We understand that this is a stressful and uncertain time not only the couples hoping for the day of their dreams but for Tommy and his staff hoping to bring those dreams to life. They made the planning process easy for us-we didn't have to think about how to enact safety precautions as we know most other couples have had to do. From the moment I met Tommy from The Renaissance and I saw the space, I knew that was the place I wanted my wedding reception to be at. It’s very unassuming from the outside. There is so much character inside the Renaissance and it was in line with the historic theme of my wedding. Planning a wedding is already stressful and planning a wedding during a PANDEMIC is ten times the amount of regular wedding planning stress. However, I truly found solace with the staff at the Renaissance. No matter what time of day I sent an email (I emailed them A LOT), the staff was superbly professional and responsive. We talked all the time during the past year and I felt so safe and secure with them and their team experts. No matter what issue I thought was urgent or a fire, they took addressed it and truly comforted me in this COVID environment.
During the pandemic, they also made sure to follow all safety and health protocols to keep not only our guests safe, but their staff as well. For our tasting, due to the pandemic, the chef set-up a “to-go” tasting for us and we probably had more fun with all that food at home than we would have there. We had so much food and little surprise desserts from the fabulous Chef Jon that we were able to eat off that for a few days.
As a bride, I know all we ever really care about up front is how much is this going to cost me lol!!! After receiving pricing from several different venues, the Renaissance’s packages were unbeatable, considering I did NOT want to piece together my reception and hire caterers or bar tenders or have to pay someone to decorate an entire bare space. They truly are a one-stop shop for your reception and they can do it all, from cake cutting, to a full bar staff, to parking attendants, to setting up your décor, etc. Did I mention the chef? The Renaissance has an AMAZING chef and the food was spectacular (I highly recommend the glazed salmon and Mediterranean chicken). So much is included with the pricing that you really are getting the most bang for your buck. You have to bring in a band/DJ, cake, or florist, but that’s about it. Everything else you want to add is a bonus, if you have the money to spend. I loved the fact that my package also came with a coordinator for the reception. He orchestrated the timeline for the reception and can bustle the hell out of any dress! The staff at the Renaissance during the reception was beyond attentive. Closer to the actual wedding day, I had so many last-minute declines and the Renaissance was understanding and even though we contractually couldn’t get any money back, they boxed up all those meals for us and we took them home to eat after the wedding ended so nothing got wasted. They also boxed up the anniversary tier of our cake and all the leftover cake slices in cute pink and white boxes wrapped in a ribbon. Those are the little details that I noticed and paid attention to. The staff truly exceeded our expectations and looked out for us every step of the way. On the day they paid attention to every detail and executed my vision perfectly.
If you are looking for a place to have a wedding, or any event for that matter, I highly recommend The Renaissance. You won’t be disappointed! From beginning to end, they really gave me quality service and my wedding was a dream come true!

Deciding to have our wedding reception at The Renaissance was the best decision we made! Every single person we worked with at the venue was helpful, kind, and understanding- especially since we went through planning our wedding during the pandemic. Tommy and his team worked with us on rescheduling our day and keeping us informed on anything we needed to do or change to go through with our day safely. Our original wedding date was April 18th, 2020, and was pushed back due to COVID until August 27th, 2020. Tommy and his team worked with us to assure the safety of our guests by social distancing the tables, and assisting us in keeping our wedding guests as safe as possible. I have heard horror stories of venues canceling on brides without talking to them, but Tommy and The Renaissance were there with us every step of the way and made us feel like family. They mourned the loss of our original plans with us, took deep breaths as we scaled down our guest list with us, and they were only a phone call or email away when we had any questions or concerns. If you are looking for a venue and a wonderful team of people to have your back EVERY step of the way while you are planning your day, I can't recommend The Renaissance enough!
I also have to give a special shoutout to Jon- the chef at The Renaissance. I still have friends and family who attended the wedding raving and talking about how delicious the food was! Jon and his team went above and beyond any expectations we had!
Another perk that I feel is important to note is this: the Thursday before your Saturday wedding, you schedule a time to come to the venue and drop off all your decorations. Tommy and a wonderful lady by the name of, Precious, go through everything you bring with you they take care of setting up the reception space! This is a huge help and weight lifted off your shoulders the days before your wedding. Not worrying about setting up your reception space is one less thing you have to worry about!

The Renaissance is an A+ wedding venue. After our first tour, we decided almost immediately that we wanted to book the Renaissance for our reception.
Tommy, Jon and Precious are an amazing team. From our very first meeting, Tommy walked us through every step of the process with expert and honest advice.
We ended up having to reschedule our wedding due to COVID and Tommy made the rescheduling process seamless. Their online planning tools made planning easy and kept me organized too!
When I dropped off some of our decor Thursday before there wedding I felt so confident that the team would make everything look beautiful, and they definitely delivered.
The food was incredible! My husband and I were fully expecting to not have time to eat our meals but we were served first with plenty of time time our delicious meals and still visit with our guests.
You can’t beat the location either. We were married at St Peters downtown and had a trolley take guests from the church to the Renaissance. Plenty of awesome hotel options nearby too!
The Renaissance was exceptionally amazing! Tommy went above and beyond to make sure it was the wedding of our dreams by answering all of our questions, putting us at ease, and keeping us stress-free throughout the whole wedding planning process. Tommy always worked with us and made sure we were comfortable before making any decision. He also gave us insight into other vendors, and we chose every vendor he suggested for our wedding... the man has impeccable taste!! Overall, Tommy is AMAZING, extremely HELPFUL, and is the BEST person to have coordinate your wedding.
We also have to give a shout out to Emmett, who partners with Tommy, and came in for the tail end portion of the wedding planning/day of. Emmett was the perfect mix of friendly and serious, and his personality and professionalism made us feel so confident that everything was in good hands moving into the final week before our wedding, plus he was an invaluable resouce during the actual Reception!!!!
I also have to give a shoutout to John and Precious for making sure our wedding ran smoothly. They were so amazing to work with and our wedding would not have been the same without them.
As for the food, the food was unbelievable and honestly the best food I have tasted and I am a picky eater!! All of our guests still talk about how great the food was almost 2 months after our wedding!! The set-up for the reception was breath-taking!! They completely made our vision come true and I was so happy with how everything turned out.
Please look no further!! I promise you, you will not find better quality services anywhere else. This entire team will make sure your day is spectacular and flawless. They are the DREAM TEAM!!!
The Renaissance was AMAZING! LOOK NO FURTHER!
My fiancé and I were nervous and on a budget because we were both completing our degrees while planning for a wedding. I especially had researched, called, and talked to so many other venues that seemed good, but just not the right fit for us and our wedding.
Enter the Renaissance. It was on budget, beautiful, great amenities and most importantly of all, the staff were SO receptive and willing to help us with anything we needed (and I do mean anything). Tommy is absolutely AMAZING (but if you've met him you already know that), but also want to give some love to Precious, Chef John, and Emmett for also making sure our wedding of about 200 guests ran as smoothly as possible. Every single person at the Renaissance answered all our littlest questions as promptly as possible, and no request we made of them (from doing a Mardi Gras style second line to last minute changes to the groomsmen attending to getting high chairs for babies) was met with anything but smiles and absolute willingness to help. The food was amazing (our guest still brag about it a month later), the décor was amazing (even better than I ever could have pictured), and the staff were amazing (Precious and Emmett willing to help us do whatever we needed on the wedding day and Tommy even personally helping me assemble a few decorations the day before the wedding). Through a combination of all our vendors, our guests praised us that this was easily the most fun, most emotional, best wedding and reception they had ever attended, and I absolutely agree. I don't write reviews often and I'm very curt when I do, so I'm not lying when I say the Renaissance is FANTASTIC, THE BEST, and if you're thinking of getting married in VA/DMV area you absolutely should get married here!
The Renaissance was AMAZING, BEAUTIFUL, PERFECT for us. At first, I was a little hesitant because the venue was so much cheaper than the rest of the venues that we visited. I was worried that the service would not be as great but I was critically mistaken. This venue is essentially all-inclusive with set-up, tear down, day-of-event coordinator, catering, etc. You do not have to pay multiple vendors but everything is all-in-one (except flowers and make-up). I'll do my review as the following:

Tommy, the Senior Sales/Event Coordinator, was a true blessing with my whole wedding. He helped me with every step of the way. He ensured that every meeting we had was e-mailed to me afterwards so that we were always on the same page. He always provided me examples of what the set-up would look like to help me with my vision. He gave me insights on which other vendors I should choose from. He always worked with me on my budget and made sure I felt comfortable and that I knew everything before making a decision. LASTLY, TOMMY MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE A QUEEN. He makes other vendors treat you like you were just a normal person asking questions about wedding but Tommy, truly prioritizes you and is simply the best person that I've worked with.
The rest of his team, Chef Jon and Precious, were also equally amazing. Whenever Tommy is unavailable, Chef Jon would always respond as quickly as possible with your questions. During the day of the wedding, everyone ensured that I was happy with everything and everything went smoothly. If something bad happened, I had no idea because it was the most perfect day/night of my life.
--- FOOD ---
The food was mouthwatering and incredible. Wedding guests still talk to me today (two weeks later) about how much the food was so great and it was the most perfect amount (not the small plates that you usually get). People have told me that it was the best wedding food that they've ever had! Food was one of my biggest worry because my husband (now) and I are big fan of food. People usually say that you don't eat during your wedding as a bride and groom. Well, we were not those type of people and WE LOVED IT. We were so surprised about how amazing turned out! Even though we shouldn't be because the tasting was equally amazing but, the wedding night was even better!
--- THE SET-UP AND CLEAN-UP ---
The whole place was beautiful. Everyone was awed and amazed with how the ceremony & the reception turned out. We used the ballroom for both events and everyone was, again, amazed at everything. People were able to use the other rooms for cocktail hour and the bar was just fun, amazing people. They not only made my vision come true but made it even better and more beautiful than I thought it could ever be. I literally just dropped off the decorations a couple of days before the wedding and they figured out everything else. I could not have asked for anything better. They were able to clean-up everything after the wedding. The only thing they made sure I had were the presents and cards and they gave those to my parents and bridesmaids. They gave me a few days to retrieve the rest of my decorations but they were able to put it all together and just give me a few bags so I had no issues at all.
OVERALL, I loved the Renaissance. I highly recommend it to anyone who is on a budget and still want an extravagant wedding. The people, the food, everything was just exceptionally amazing.
Tommy and his staff were beyond awesome!! Planning a wedding can be very stressful but working with the team at the Renaissance was stress-free. Tommy was available to help us with every question we had and even helped us think of things we didn't know that was necessary. Don't even get me started with the food, they have an amazing selection of food. The only problem that we had was after the taste testing, we couldn't decide which option we wanted because all of Chef John's food was extremely delicious. On the wedding day, we arrived at a ceremony and reception hall that exceeded all of our expectations. The staff laid out my vision perfectly! We had so much fun and success working with Tommy! We would highly recommend using the Renaissance as the wedding venue of choice to anyone looking. We love Tommy and staff, they made our perfect day even more magical!
You can't go wrong with this venue. Tommy Waters, Precious, Chef Jon and the rest of the staff are awesome. The ballroom is perfect for a wedding. Tommy was there from beginning to end and our experience was exceptional.
We found the Renaissance on Instagram and fell in love with the beautiful photos. We met Tommy at a wedding expo and fell in love with him and knew we had to schedule a tour. After seeing the venue in person, meeting Jon, Precious and the whole team and hearing what all they had to offer, we knew we were in good hands and wanted to book it immediately. You can tell Tommy absolutely loves what he does and is good at it. He loves the venue and encouraged us through all our dreams of our day. The food was so great, our guests gave so many compliments the whole night and couldn’t get enough of the roasted vegetable display during cocktail hour. My husband and I are not big fans of cake and our families thought we were crazy when we decided to do a wall of donuts instead and also as our favors. Our coordinator, Dana (who was so great!!), was able to keep this giant wall of donut hidden from our guests during the ceremony and surprised everyone with it center stage during our reception. 1. I think our guests were super stoked for donuts but 2. They loved being able to walk up on the stage and pick out which donut they wanted, it just gave our guests one more fun thing to do. We really didn’t feel stressed or overwhelmed through the whole planning process and felt like the whole team was there for us whenever we had any questions or concerned. Our whole day turned out so perfect and the force was strong on May the 4th and left a lasting impression on us and all of our guests!!
I waited a really long time to find the right man, and once we got engaged, we couldn’t get married fast enough! However we are both very traditional and wanted a beautiful but intimate wedding with family and close friends. Working with Tommy and John was wonderful! Tommy is so friendly and helpful, and he made wedding planning fun! As someone who wanted a gorgeous wedding but didn’t want to be crazy, I was more than happy to be able to depend on Tommy to make everything happen for us and create a worry-free wedding day! This venue has amazing service, I really can’t do it justice. The staff was so intuitive on my wedding day, I think someone helped put a refreshing beverage in my hand Before I even realized I was thirsty half the time! And having non-stop drinks while talking to guests helps enormously! The service was so phenomenal I wish I had another event to plan there, but I am also planning on sticking with this man a long time. So I will just have to hope I get invited back to someone else’s wedding so I can enjoy the food again because the food is also delightful, and I wish I could order it.
We had a great experience with the Renaissance in Richmond. Tommy is amazing and made every little thing a breeze - especially since I was planning from out of state. The food, decor, everything was perfect and exactly what I wanted! They did the setup breakdown and everything in between. Staff were kind and courteous and I have absolutely no complaints about my big day!
Amazing Venue, Amazing experiences, Amazing Wedding
We could not have been happier with our experience marrying and holding our reception at the Renaissance. I would give them a perfect 10! Tommy was a dream to work with. He made the whole wedding experience more delightful (as it can get stressful at times). He was supportive and always available for questions or assistance in a quick manner.
One of the things I found very valuable was having other vendors associated with the Renaissance close by. Tommy put me in contact with lighting and florist. These vendors were familiar with the set-up of this Venue and I felt this helped to ensure the STUNNING decor that we achieved on our big day. Also, the venue has their own photo booth that you can rent. All these connections made it more like a 'one stop shop' which was very much welcomed!
I cannot get over the beauty of the venue on the day of our wedding. Something that my husband and I both commented on was that this venue allowed us to be us. We didn't feel that at the other venues we toured!
During the reception and ceremony, the staff were amazing and made sure that it was a night to remember!

Tommy, Jon, Precious, and their team are an absolute dream! Our wedding day came together so beautifully because of their hard work! From day one, Tommy gave us all of the information we needed and then some to plan our special day. He allowed us to customize our event to make it exactly what we wanted and provided suggestions along the way. Honestly, the entire planning process was stress-free because of his guidance, and, coming from a Type-A Bride, that's really saying something! Responses to questions were always prompt and Tommy was always willing to meet in person or over the phone to answer any and all questions. He even took the time to walk through every decoration and item my family brought to the venue the Thursday prior to the wedding with my Mom and Dad to make sure he knew what our wishes were in their placement. That's personalized service at its finest!
As a self-proclaimed foodie, Jon's menus are top-notch! Seriously, we have guests still raving about the menu and the service was impeccable! No one sat waiting for for their meal to be plated for more than a few minutes. With an almost 200 person guest list, they were efficient and attentive from beginning to end!

Our November 3rd Wedding was absolutely perfect at the Reniassance. From the moment meeting Tommy Waters for our tour in January, we knew we would be well cared for by him and his staff, (we were not let down)! He and his staff consistently went above and beyond our requests to make our night seamless! Emails were detailed, timely, and much appreciated. We loved planning with this team! They made it fun and personal! They are so familiar with the wedding market, their vendor recommendations were appreciated and well received. They worked tirelessly to help get our perfect menu, specialty drinks, and all personal touches exactly how we pictured them! They even worked with a surprise drop off and gift, unknown to the Bride.
The food and appetizers were amazing, the bartenders and waitstaff personal and friendly, and the drinks wonderful (professional and fast)! The planning process was made so much easier due to the communication Tommy and his team provided! The cost for venue, food, drinks were so reasonable for the quality provided!

I got married July 28,2018 at the Renaissance and I would highly recommend it to any couple! The Renaissance do many weddings and events so they know how weddings are supposed to be run. Even though they have events going on all the time, we always felt we were a priority. We immediately fell in love with the ballroom and Tommy Waters. You don’t even need a lot of decorations because the whole
Ballroom is breathtaking itself. From Day One, Tommy, Jon, Precious and others made it known that everything would be run smoothly all the days leading up to my wedding and day of. We were in contact with Tommy the most, and he had straight answers for all the million questions we asked and he always offered suggestions and advice on how to save and make our wedding better. On my wedding day, I hired a traditional Chinese lion performence as a surprise to my guests. When they arrived, they whisked them into an elevator and hid them on the balcony until it was time for their performence and my guests had NO idea. The performers even loved the fact that they had so much room to go around the tables and the high ceilings gave them the opportunity to do more moves with height compared to other venues. My guests had a blast as well. I have had one couple say “you guys throw one hell of a party” and MANY others tell us we should renew our vows so we can have another wedding at the Renaissance. At the end of my wedding night, my videographer has a clip of me running up to Jon and basically jumping on him to give him the biggest hug. (Hopefully I didn’t hurt him...because I’m pretty sure I did it twice) If you want a stress free venue where they take care of their couples, choose The Renaissance.
Working with the Renaissance was a breath of fresh air. I toured 13 places in the area and found this to be the best value. Furthermore, it was a prime location, and very elegant. The staff is very organized, detail oriented and professional. Everything was handled great! Tommy, Jon, Emmitt, the entire staff orchestrated a lovely event. I am still getting compliments on the food. Delicious!
I had last minute changes and request and they were carried out. Every call and email were answered in a timely manner. They have modern up to date current trends and software that make the wedding planning process very smooth. I was able to incorporate my culture and customize to my liking. The venue offers many items so no need to outsource, they have it all! I would recommend this place to anyone!
OMG!!! what a day, what a day!!!! What a day to remember and what great relationships that were built with the staff at The Renaissance of Richmond, VA. I am the mother of the bride and my daughter had her dream wedding thanks to Tommy Waters and Emmett Hickman. I starting planning this wedding 18 months in advance and Tommy was by my side whenever I needed him to be. From the 1st look tour to the tasting, to the completion of the seating chart (in which he sat down with me and my frustration for 2 hrs. at a moments notice to check and double check my seating chart). Tommy treated my daughter's wedding as if it were his very own. He gave me the best advice. John Beattie, the executive chef, as well, was superb!! We decided to have the rehearsal dinner at the venue as well and the food for that and the main event was just plain ole delicious!!! I feel like I gained new best friends. They treated me and my family with nothing but the upmost respect for our event. Emmett Hickman was our day of Wedding Planner and he rocked it. Whatever blips came about, with one of our vendors, Emmett did his very best to resolve them and he kept it moving right along. He is one of the best in the industry. You will be privileged to have him work your event. I must not forget the staff at The Renaissance. Such professionals, in dealing with us. They were absolutely wonderful!!!! Believe me if you're considering The Renaissance as your event venue, they will definitely make your event a time to remember. The whole renaissance team was outstanding. From start to finish all our demands were met and any questions we had got answered in a timely fashion. Our photography backed out and Tommy was able to obtain a back up one for me in 24 hours, amazing. We weren’t pressured into going over our budget and they made my wife’s vision come true. In TEN years when we renew our vowels I will be contacting them first!!!
My husband and I started our wedding planning with limited time (due to last minute changes from destination wedding to local)...so things were a little stressful. The Renaissance was probably the fourth/fifth place we viewed and I was immediately sold!!! It was absolutely beautiful and that ballroom was perfect. The ballroom was so beautiful little to no extra decorations are needed. From the beginning to the end of the process Tommy and Emmett made sure everything was a go and ran smoothly. They were constantly in contact and basically handled everything for me. I told them my vision and they made it happen! Anything that I needed to do was explained to me in direct easy details. Also huge kudos to the chef....the food was amazing. I highly recommend this venue!!
I just can’t say enough about all of the staff at The Renaissance. They did a wonderful job with assisting me with ALL of the details of my wedding. I didn’t really plan long, proabably about 3 months, never-the-less things were very beautiful, detailed & personal; no one even had a clue that we hadn’t spent months wedding planning. Precious is a gem, she definitely knows her stuff & facilitated things beautifully! Tommy was the best, couldn’t ask for anyone better! I’m pretty detailed, kind of picky & definitely have a lot of questions; funny thing is he’s even more detailed, picky & thorough than myself which definitely put me at ease. The Renaissance staff were available every step of the way & did an amazing job making me feel like my event was the only one. I would definitely recommend The Renaissance for your wedding or other event.
I absolutely loved my experience at the renaissance! First of all, the ballroom is gorgeous! The chandeliers give a regal vibe. If you opt for bistro lighting, as well, it really creates a magical atmosphere!
Secondly, Tommy was great! He was prompt at replying to my many emails and really guided me through the whole process. He knows his stuff! He gave me confidence that I had nothing to stress about and made me feel at ease with everything. Planning a wedding is definitely stressful at times and so it was great to have that reassurance.
I highly recommend the Renaissance and couldn’t possibly think of anything I would change about my wedding day/venue.

We had an awesome Rehearsal Dinner experience at The Renaissance. Everything was top notch! Tommy worked with us on the planning and the Staff executed everything to perfection. The meal was absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend The Renaissance for any event!!
Thank you for a magical evening on December 30, 2017. The professionalism shown by the staff at the The Renaissance made for a worry-free magical evening! The setting was absolutely gorgeous! Everything was perfect from the cocktail hour, appetizers, sit down dinner for 56, to the plated desserts! I was especially pleased with the detailed communication from beginning to end. No question went unanswered!
If you are looking for a top notch venue for a reasonable price, the only place in Richmond is The Renaissance. Tommy, Jon, Precious, and their entire staff are incredible in executing your dream wedding. From the moment we first contacted Tommy up until the end of our wedding day, The Renaissance team was there to ensure our day was absolutely perfect. Our New Year’s Eve wedding consisted of just over 150 people and the venue itself was perfect. There were about 20 tables and did not feel crowded with that many people. There was also a large space for the dance floor! The staff was able to accommodate some out of the box ideas for us and did not shy away at a challenge. When we arrived to drop items off before our wedding day, Precious and her team took detailed notes of where each item should be placed. When we arrived on our wedding day, everything was set up exactly the way we envisioned and even with a few little unexpected surprises added that made everything look wonderful. We added on the professional photo booth as well which we highly recommend as it was a great keepsake for the guests.The bar had an expansive selection of beers and alcohol available and multiple guests commented to us about how nice and accommodating the bar staff was. One unique request we had was that we wanted to eat privately before the guests at our wedding ate so we could take time to walk around to all of the tables to visit with our guests. Upon making this request, the staff advised us that this had never done before, but they were open to trying it out. I cannot begin to explain the level of efficiency with which this task was carried out. After the ceremony, we were able to enjoy a quiet meal, just the two of us, in the bridal suite. We highly recommend that all couples do this. The quality of the food was beyond what we expected. Many guests commented on how tasty both the food and appetizers were during our reception; and since we were able to eat and enjoy our meal as well, we couldn’t agree more. If your worried about price, don’t be. It was almost unreal how much we got for how nice the venue was in comparison to other venues of this size in the area. All of the items we added on were also competitive in price which is directly attributed to how well the staff is regarded in the wedding industry and the relationships they have built with other vendors in the area. If you're lucky enough to have your wedding at The Renaissance, you’re in for a real treat!
LOOK NO FURTHER. As soon as we stepped into the Victorian ballroom with its high ceilings, multiple crystal chandeliers and hardwood floors we knew we wanted to book The Renaissance. Our choice was confirmed over and over as we worked with the staff to make our dream wedding come true.
It is nearly impossible to list all the reasons to have your wedding at The Renaissance because there are so many, but I will do my best! The perks of having your wedding and reception at the same venue are bountiful and the pricing for their packages is reasonable while giving you flexibility on services and allowing you to customize every aspect of your big day.
The staff are incredible and the food is beyond five star (Chef Jon is wonderful! ). The gentlemen who run The Renaissance (Jon and Tommy) will give you advice and support on all the details of your wedding as they are consummate professionals who know how to make elegant events with memories your guest will be talking about long after your event is over.
They do setup and break down of your event and Tommy was always available to communicate throughout the process for changes or questions and any help we needed. We got a great deal of our vendors contacts from this venue who works with a consortium of wedding vendors (Shoppes at The Renaissance) including planning services, stationary, beauty experts, photographers etc. Also, we have seen many different wedding parties come through The Renaissance with diverse backgrounds, religions and walks of life-all accommodated and all happy they chose this place. They made us feel like family and royalty at the same time. You cannot go wrong with this venue, take it from this blissful bride.
In my husband’s words: “If I could give Tommy a 10-star rating, I would”. Five stars is not sufficient to rate how outstanding Thomas Waters with The Renaissance is to work with. From our first tour of the facility to the very last planning meeting, Tommy was helpful, approachable, took time to get to know our specific needs, and customized our package for our needs. He was easily reachable through email or phone, and the personal attention made it seem like we were his only clients!
Our guests were amazed at the beauty and classy look of the ballroom, and could not stop talking about the food! Even a week later, they kept talking about how delicious the food was – especially the Duchess mashed potatoes.
One of my favorite things about the Renaissance is the bridal suite. This is a little room just for the bride/bridal party to freshen up before and during the reception. It’s like a mini living room with an adjacent bathroom…this was literally the selling point for me! It was SO nice to be able to use the restroom in my own private bathroom and change into my going away dress in a comfortable space.
The only complaint I have is that the reception staff seemed to be disorganized at times. A small anniversary dance gift was supposed to be placed at the DJ table, and the staff didn’t find the gift until a while after the anniversary dance. Also, I had dropped off glow sticks to use at our exit, and at the end of our reception, the staff could not find the glow sticks until we were almost ready to walk out. That being said, this was a small hiccup in the grand scheme of the night.
Overall, we are so pleased with our experience and the amount of planning and coordination that Tommy invested in our wedding reception. When my husband and I arrived at The Renaissance and glanced into the ballroom, I was taken aback at how beautiful it was. The whole night felt like a fairy tale. We would choose The Renaissance again in a heartbeat!!
We held our dinner rehearsal here at the Renaissance. It was absolutely fantastic. The entire staff was welcoming, helpful and very accommodating. They made sure I always had a drink in my hand and I had enough food to eat. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Not to mention, the food was to die for!! I highly recommend this location. Were do I begin?! Tommy is Awesome!!! From planning the wedding to my wedding day his staff was simply amazing! I was waited on hand and foot the day of the wedding. Everything went so smooth..if anything went wrong I have no knowledge of it. The venue is beautiful so many different ways to style it. Best venue I’ve seen in RVA. Affordable, you are really getting more for your money! Not one time was I pressured into anything. I simply explained what I wanted and Tommy executed without a problem. The food was AMAZING. Normally wedding food is hit or miss but The Renaissance of RVA had my guests wanting more!!! The staff were super professional they made me and my guest feel like we’ve known them forever. They enjoyed the photo booth with my baby boys and even joined us on the dance floor. It was a special day and it was all because of the staff at The Renaissance of RVA. If I could do it all over again I would not change a thing!
I've been working with Tommy for over 2 years and he and his entire team have been amazing. They are great to work with, very accommodating and they made us, our friends and family feel welcomed. The venue is absolutely gorgeous and has that vintage feel that I wanted. Absolutely love them!!
The Renaissance, Tommy W., Precious, and the entire staff are top notch. Tommy worked with us in our planning, providing advice and guidance whenever we asked for it. The reception was better than I imagined it could be. Several of our guests complimented the staff, and several asked us to please pass on compliments to The Renaissance. Go visit - pictures do not do it justice. It is a lovely venue with a staff who truly aims to please (and they did)!
