errace for our wedding ceremony + reception ASAP. The views from the rooftop terrace are absolutely amazing. We have the most breathtaking photographs taken at sunset! The food was 10/10; everything was delicious, and our guests were sure to tell us the same thing! The beautifully decorated bridal suite was a little too small for my bridal party to get ready in (11 bridesmaids), but we loved spending time relaxing and drinking champagne inside the bridal suite leading up to the ceremony! I do think it would be a lovely space for a smaller party to get ready in, but if not, I definitely recommend getting to the venue early so you have time to enjoy the bridal suite with your bridal party (so pretty inside, big mirror, chandelier, champagne fridge). The bridal suite was also used for our private dinner, which was nice and intimate. We recommend The River Terrace at Shaw Center for the Arts to all couples looking for a gorgeous venue in Baton Rouge.

the way it should. She was very reassuring, and answered my many questions! They were both quick to reply with emailing! Although I'm not sure the names of the Shaw Center staff that helped with our wedding, I cannot say enough about them either! They truly went above and beyond. Our decorator went on and on about how helpful they were before and after the wedding! And did it all with a smile the entire time! We did not expect them to help with set up of decorations/flowers etc, but they did since they had finished with their responsibilities. Two ladies were with me in the stairwell while I waited to walk down the aisle with my dad. They helped to keep my nerves down, laughed with me, and held my dress as I went up the stairs! I'd recommend this venue to anyone debating on using it! Their packages are very affordable, and they have lots of "add on" options to upgrade all at affordable pricing! We loved this venue and have zero regrets or complaints about it! We'd choose it over and over again if we could! Thank you everyone at the Shaw Center :)

Our guest were blown away at the execution and attention to every detail. The vendors were amazed at the ease of working with these two ladies and the professional standard at which they handle things. This is a wonderful venue with a wonderful backdrop of the river, located in downtown Baton Rouge. And if you love a beautiful sunset, this location is for you!

planned our ceremony for November and found out the day before our wedding that the temperature was suddenly going to drop to 45 degrees ( typical Louisiana weather right?) Aimee quickly and seamlessly responded to our crisis, providing us with heating options that saved the night. The venue itself is beautiful, both during the day and in the evening. The views of the old State Capital and the Mississippi River bridge are great for pictures. Our favorite add-on was the dance floor, and I highly recommend getting it if you have a crowd that likes to party. Aimee also did a great job coordinating with our other vendors, especially with the ones that hadn't worked with the Shaw Center before. Most importantly, Aimee and Priscilla were genuinely interested in what we wanted and what our event was going to look like, which helped us to have the best night of our life. We can't thank them enough!

I noticed that the info on the venue indicates no outdoor covered space, but don’t let that fool you - we had a chance of rain in the forecast and they tented the entire outdoor area. It really added to the ambience! They also accommodated our other vendors with all of their needs as well. Overall, a great place and experience. I would highly recommend them to anyone to host your wedding reception!

Although we booked an outside wedding coordinator, The Shaw Center provided an on-site person to help with all logistics during our day! e that came with being on the fourth floor and gazing down at the beautiful downtown sights. As the primary planner of the wedding, I was really impressed with how professional and accommodating the staff at Shaw was throughout the entire process. We were given a comprehensive tour and Aimee did a wonderful job of explaining how the venue is set up for weddings and showed us the items we could rent such as chandeliers, champagne walls, and upgraded bars. We were sold from the very beginning, but where Aimee and her colleague Priscilla really came through was closer to the wedding day when every detail counts. They helped me create a fairy tale environment as a surprise for my daughter by meeting with me and a local vendor to arrange for twinkly lights and draping and bent over backwards to accommodate us. The day of the wedding, a downpour came and Shaw had to set up chairs and tables under tents. However, at the last minute, the weather cleared and Priscilla had her crews quickly move everything out from under the tents so we could go with the original plan of an open-air ceremony. She kept in constant communication with me the day of the wedding, which was greatly appreciated and alleviated my nerves. We got catering through Shaw’s recommended vendor Stroube’s and the food was delicious. I highly recommend the Shaw Center River Terrace as the preferred venue for weddings in Baton Rouge.

y to our wedding night. The venue is beautiful and spacious. We had no issue with a nearly 200 person guest list moving around. The indoor area housed our food and cakes, while we had a full stage, band, and dance floor, along with bars, high top tables, and large round tables outside on the terrace. The rooftop views cannot be beat. Additionally, the coordinators are very knowledgable and helpful. Priscilla and Aimee assisted us every step of the way - answering questions, handling rentals, determining what the headcount should be to ensure every guest has enough to eat, making special requests to other vendors, deciding whether to put up tents in case of inclement weather, etc. This is more than just a venue. You can also choose packages with catering, alcohol, tables, chairs, linens, and more. They even have a ton of great in-house rental items like champagne walls, upgraded bars, chandeliers, and a dance floor. Using the River Terrace for all of that alleviated so much stress that comes with hiring a different vendor for every aspect of your wedding. On our wedding night, we received top notch service, and our guests had nothing but good things to say. I would highly recommend the River Terrace to anyone who is looking for a gorgeous downtown Baton Rouge venue for any event.

The view is spectacular, the layout is conducive to huge band and plenty of room for dancing, they have tents if it does rain, and the aisle….. this long aisle is the best experience ever for a bride. It gives you more time to take it all in. The staff was great helping with all the planning and the layouts! I really enjoyed working with Priscilla and Aimee. We had a little issue with the blues festival booking festivities in the vicinity of my wedding, but the venue made sure everything was taken care of and made accommodations for the guests to avoid any inconveniences. This is definitely the best place for an outdoor wedding in downtown Baton Rouge!

nd river views!!! The Shaw staff is easy to work with, upfront and efficiant from beginning to end. If your wedding day/night is rainy, they tent it. If it's cold you can add a few large heaters for comfort. You cannot beat the beautiful backdrop of the Old Capital Building for the wedding ceremony and the Mississippi River, monogramed water tower and Louisiana sunset for the reception. The Stroubes food is delicious (do a taste testing) and the Manship Theater bar manager is very willing to work with you on alcohol, champagne and wine served. I highly recommend the Shaw Center and staff for your wedding or event!!!

ned out exactly how we planned. Open lines of communication were always available to answer my many questions. The day of felt very stress free, however, you must have a day of coordinator! Your guest will enjoy the wonderful views and even better food. Our ceremony and reception was in early May during sunset, which turned out to be the perfect scene and weather. If you are thinking about booking, I highly recommend! You will not regret it and your guest will enjoy their time at the Shaw Center.

weddings at the Shaw, was amazing! My husband, planner, and myself were treated well and given the opportunity to taste every single item that we were considering for our reception meal. Layla was very knowledgeable and real with us. We upgraded to the premium bar and the bartenders did not disappoint! While my overall experience was good, there are a few things that any future brides may want to consider: Flower girls are not allowed to throw flowers, sparkler send offs are prohibited, no shots are allowed at the reception, all music must be the clean/radio edit, real candles are not allowed, and hair and makeup can not be done in the bridal suite. All of these things are in the contract that you sign, but can be missed if you don’t read it thoroughly. Additionally, my reception was ended at 11:05 pm when I paid for 7:30-11:30. Unsure why this happened, but to avoid confusion we just ended it 30 minutes early :( Overall, I had a pleasant experience and my wedding was a blast!

COVID changes. I fell in love with the River Terrace from pictures on Facebook and the Knot, but it is a must see in person. The view from the River Terrace is beyond beautiful, and our guests still rave about how magical it was on the rooftop. Jason with Manship Theater was also amazing to work with for our bartending services for the River Terrace. All the bartenders were super professional and kept our guests extremely happy. He was even able to accommodate our mocktail list for some of our guests who did or were not able to drink alcohol. Thank you to all the staff, Priscilla, and Aimee for making our day exceptionally magical. I would strongly recommend this venue to anyone who wishes to capture the same magic.

The venue also has many extras available like a champagne wall, beautiful white wood bars, floor easels, and lighting that we took advantage of. Our wedding planner commented on how easy the staff was to work with on setup and takedown. Now for the best part: Priscilla and Aimee are two of the most hardworking, professional and caring individuals I have worked with. They were a vital part of the team that was able to listen to our vision for the evening and execute beyond expectations. Our evening was truly magical, wish we could do it again!

The ambience is there, if romantic, classic and authentic is what you’re looking for, this is it. The staff, also great, Priscilla and Aimee were very kind and helpful right from the very beginning. My wedding date was planned right in the middle of COVID-19 and they did everything within their power to ease the stress and be as accommodating as possible. Our wedding date was truly beautiful and I am so happy we selected this venue. Just a word for future brides, your wedding day memories don’t start on your wedding day, they begin the second you start planning. So wherever you choose, select a venue that’s showing you that they value you and your experience as a client. I can say that Shaw gave us that experience.

he day before my wedding I was so stressed about losing my bridal suite with my other venue, and although they don't let people get there hair and makeup done at their small "bridal suite" / office they allowed me to, so I wouldn't stress and I could enjoy my day. They even help me with the rehearsal part of my wedding. Besides the amazing workers there, the shaw center terrace has one of the most beautiful view for any event! Totally recommend it for anyone looking to have a dream wedding!

accomodated our 150 guests perfectly. The weather was amazing, the view was amazing, and working with the coordinators at the Shaw Center was a dream. Katherine and Priscilla handled all of the coordination leading up and even helped us determine whether we'd need additional tents due to the weather. Our vendors were all communicated wtih effectively and the space was completely transformed with the decor/theme we chose. It's a great minimal space that can really fit any theme with the right decor. Our theme was Tropical Disco and as one of my friends said, the space was transformed with some simple touches. Since they host so many weddings and events, the process was very smooth and I'd HIGHLY recommend the venue. My only regret is that I can't do it all over again. It was a beautiful day and beautiful experience for me, my (now) husband, our family, and friends!!!

e our reception--perfect! We cannot say enough about the Events Staff for the Shaw Center: Priscilla Simpson and Katherine Burns were so knowledgeable, helpful and supportive. They gave us such great advice and direction, while ALWAYS putting our family's needs and vision first. Even with the threat of rain, we were allowed plenty of time and flexibility in making a decision about adjusting the set-up. Their recommendation for draping the tent poles resulted in such a beautiful presentation! Jason Langlois and the beverage staff could not have been more accommodating! They were efficient, personable and gracious to our guests. Our daughter's dream wedding turned out to be even MORE than she expected!

hatever. The down side is the price for what you get. They basically provide a slab of concrete and you have to piece everything together. It's a lot of work without a wedding planner which I didn't have. But I would definitely recommend if you have the time to organize everything and everyone.

views of the city from the Terrace are beautiful. Plenty of room for dancing! It was a perfect evening! We did have a Day of Wedding Coordinator, a florist and a caterer that handled all of the reception day set up - so we did not have to oversee any of the set up ourselves. Prisilla, the Shaw event coordinator, was always helpful and answered all of our questions over the entire year leading up to the wedding.

However I would not book the Shaw Center unless you have a lot of time to devote to coordinate all of the vendors or you have a true wedding planner that will handle all of it the day of. The Shaw Center was excellent but it was stressful trying to coordinate so many different elements.
