The five stars here come from the amazing staff at the Roslyn, including the manager. There were a few issues with the bridal suite, but the manager and the entire staff did all they could to make it right. We held out rehearsal dinner here the night before and it was so much fun! The room was beautiful, we were given loads of time to set up, and the food was delicious! We had a wedding breakfast here the day after the wedding and that was wonderful too! We also went to the bar after the wedding with a few friends and had fun there as well. So despite a few issues with the room and having to change rooms the day of the wedding, the manager made it all go smoothly and went above and beyond to make it right. I'd recommend a hotel block with them, as well as rehearsal dinners and wedding breakfasts with them anytime!
The Roslyn was beautiful and nearly perfect however if you are booking the next day brunch make sure you have a very close to accurate estimate on how many people will attend. They had me give an estimate of guests that would attend a year in advance and when it wound up being well over that made us pay for a ballroom in order to actually have the brunch. However they made up for this misunderstanding by providing us with the ballroom for our after party. The rooms were all clean and all of our guests seemed to enjoy their stay however this little hiccup led to unneeded stress days before our wedding. This may have been fully on me for not overestimating the original number just something to keep in mind if you plan on booking your brunch with the hotel. The suites were massive. Much big enough for our entire bridal parties to get ready in at one point in our pre-wedding celebrations we had upwards of 40 people in the bridal suite and never received any complaints for it. Kelly was great to work with helping me add rooms any time I needed and Faith worked as best she could at remedying the brunch situation. All in all I would definitely recommend using the Roslyn for your hotel block!
It was a true pleasure working with Kelly, Stephanie and the whole team at The Roslyn Hotel! The location of the hotel was perfect for accommodating us and our guests during our wedding weekend. Kelly's amazing communication skills made it so easy to work with her. She constantly kept us updated on the status of the wedding block occupancy, which was a huge help to us in the planning process. The suite was spacious and clean, and the hotel even provided special celebratory treats for us and our parents, which was very thoughtful. The breakfast the next morning was delicious and enjoyable, as well. Thank you to Kelly and team for being a part of our wedding weekend and helping to make the weekend so special!
We had our hotel block, our afterparty, and our brunch all booked at The Roslyn Hotel. Their staff was impeccable with providing comfort, communication and accommodations. We and our guests were absolutely floored by their level of service and would highly recommend them to anyone wishing to use them for any part of their wedding!
I recently got married and we used The Roslyn as our hotel block. I know there are some negative reviews on the hotel here, but I had a great experience and I think they really have improved. From start to finish, dealing with The Roslyn was wonderful. Kelly was so wonderful to deal with, and was so helpful to all of the guests and us in planning our events. Our room was beautiful and our guests had a great experience as well. The hotel itself is beautiful and very unique, which is one of the reasons we loved it. We also had our Rehearsal Dinner and next day Breakfast at The Roslyn. The dinner was wonderful and the breakfast was amazing too. I was very pleasantly surprised. Kelly was absolutely wonderful, and really went the extra mile to make sure we had a great experience and our guests did too. Not only did Kelly do an amazing job helping us with our events at the hotel she was so helpful and kind to our guests. She personally ensured everyone checked into their rooms and had a great stay. So many guests pulled me to the side to tell me how great Kelly was. Kelly was so responsive to my emails, and answered any questions I had right away (even after our stay). I really recommend using The Roslyn for your hotel block and any events!
Just stay away.
My husband and I used the Roslyn Tapestry for our hotel block as well as our brunch the next day for our wedding on July 9. The rooms were clean. Trying to contact someone was a bit difficult as they switched the event person midway through our wedding planning. The breakfast is very good.
Stayed APRIL 2018. This hotel is subpar. The front desk staff is awful. Rude, unhelpful, dismissive, to list a few. Two of the bed pillows had large, didi I say large?, rusty water stains on them, the bathroom granite/marble had 8+”crack right under sink that I cut my foot on, there was a clump of black I-don’t-know-what outside of the tub. Oh, and no mini frig in room?!?! When asked hours of fitness center, (one must for me as staying for five days) told it’s in an area of hotel under construction and no access. Would have been nice to have known when booking that: A, establishment under construction and that, B, some of the amenities listed were NOT available. Then front desk Manager Lisette told me “well, you should’ve asked, not my fault.” Great customer relations.....NOT.
My experience at the Roslyn Hotel fell far short of expectations. We were assigned Room 130 for the evening of 7/8/17. Intermittently throughout the night, a loud banging/clanging sound came from either above us or next door. It was so loud that it prevented us from sleeping. The primary reason anyone rents a hotel room is to get a restful night of sleep when far away from home. Instead, we attended our friend's wedding at a nearby venue and then had to drive 5.5/6 hours home feeling as if we had barely slept at all.
I was also disappointed that the mattress in Room 130 was rock hard. I tend to like sleeping on firmer mattresses, but this one was so hard that it caused various body parts to fall asleep due to loss of circulation. It was not very different from sleeping on the floor. Our bed also had four lumpy pillows.
When I mentioned these issues to the front desk staff (when I could find them, as the desk was not staffed at 11 pm when we got home or later that evening), the first woman I spoke with told me she had never heard of a single noise complaint from Room 130. She passed me off to a second woman, who seemed unconcerned before she asked me, "Well, how was your stay otherwise?" She claimed to be unable to do anything to compensate me for the issues at check-out, but said she'd pass along my information to a manager who would call me within the next 48 hours. I followed up with the hotel via email the next morning, and heard nothing. Two days after that, having still heard from no one at the hotel, I called to ask to speak to the manager on duty. While he was apologetic, the most he would offer me was a 25% refund. He said he was not authorized to do anything more and instructed me to call back for the general manager, Darlene. I have now called the hotel two more times. Each time, I've been told that Darlene is busy and will give me a call back. Both times, the staff didn't ask for my name or phone number until I prompted them to so. To put it mildly, the customer service at this hotel is atrocious.
RUN. RUN AS FAR AWAY AS YOU CAN FROM THIS HOTEL. Even if there are no other options in the area, you would seriously be better off sleeping in your car. Your future wedding guests will thank you.
We stayed in the large suite on the 3rd floor for our wedding and got ready there. The Roslyn is a very nice and well kept boutique hotel. We were married in the Swan Club, so it was the best option as far as proximity goes. I want to say that the complimentary breakfast was fine, and we had a good stay overall. The only two things that I feel could use improvement are the following:
- When booking your block, the minimum is 10 rooms. And depending on the size of your wedding and out of town guests it may or may not be enough. I started with that just to see where we would end up, and was told that if we needed more all we had to do was just call in more rooms. Well, when I needed more rooms and tried to call this in, I was told that there was no more availability (meaning for a block but guests could go online and book at full price). I did mention that I thought I could add more as needed, and this wasn't addressed and there was no explanation nor apology for the miscommunication on this. Quite a few guests were turned away and told that there were no more rooms available in our block. They eventually said my guests could call her directly and book at the block rate, but I feel that it shouldn't have gone as far as being told that there was nothing available.
Second- The night of the wedding we had about 5 people come back and we had a few drinks in our room. We couldn't stay at their bar because of noise levels. We didn't have music playing, and were just talking amongst ourselves. Our neighbor complained about us and when the person working the night shift came to our room, he barely gave a chance to the two people to leave before coming to complain about us again. I asked him to just give us one minute and he then said that he would go downstairs and then come back up in five minutes and that if there were more than 4 people in our room he would have me tell them that they need to leave. I thought him telling me that he would have ME tell our friends that they need to leave our room was pretty ballsy.
Other than this, all else was fine.
After extensively searching google and yelp for hotel reviews on hotels near my venue, I stumbled upon The Roslyn (formerly the Roslyn Claremont). I liked both the proximity to my venue, as well as the great reviews I read. I contacted Laura Duhig, who proved to be extremely helpful and patient in helping me book my wedding night stay and block out some rooms for potential guests. I was able to offer my guests a discounted rate with 3 different room types to choose from.
My husband and I were able to check in quickly despite the late hour, and that was quite a relief as it was almost midnight.
The hotel had a nice modern look and feel, and the Representatives at the front desk were pleasant and friendly The suite we had was spacious, impeccably clean, and comfortable. Exactly what we needed after such a long crazy day. I wish we were able to stay longer.
My mother and I met with Laura almost a year in advance to set up a hotel block. We blocked 21 rooms, the maximum allowed without a deposit from us. (I had guesstimated that we would need 20-24 rooms). I encouraged guests to book and before the invitations went out, 14 rooms had been booked. Throughout the course of the year, I would check in with Laura that we had enough rooms and that there were still rooms available in the hotel. Perhaps I was naive, but I believed her when she kept telling me everything was going well.
Immediately after the invitations went out, we were informed by guests that The Roslyn Hotel had told them they had no rooms available either in or out of our block. I had my sister call to try to book a room to see if this was true. When I called immediately after to confront them about the problem, the manager told me that there were no more rooms in the hotel - because we had a "non-guarantee block" and had not put a deposit down, they did not have to keep those 21 rooms open. He also told me to stop playing games with his staff, he knew I had been calling pretending to be guests (I guess my sister and I sound alike).
The following day, he called me and asked if I could come in to discuss this and resolve it in a mutually beneficial way. My sister and I drove to the hotel with the hopes of resolving it. The manager met with us in the lobby - we had an entire conversation about our contract standing in the lobby with the staff watching from the front desk and guests walking by in socks. He again said that there was nothing he could do - that he had no more rooms as all unbooked rooms were in different blocks. The entire ordeal was upsetting.
Later that evening, he called to say that he would take a few rooms from other blocks and give them to us - at that point, this was not a comforting idea. I was afraid they would overbook the hotel for the weekend and some guests would not have a room at available. Also, I was not comfortable staying there on my wedding night after the "show" in the lobby.
I had already begun to look for another hotel and I moved all of my guests over to The Andrew Hotel, in Great Neck, where we received a better rate. Luckily, my guests were super understanding.
Long story short, do not book a block of rooms at The Roslyn Hotel. At least I did not lose any money.
I would like to start off by saying how beautiful and classy this hotel is! Just recently about a year ago the hotel went under renovations and let me say how beautifully they decorated everything! The place is full of elegance and gorgeous structure! Lora was a pleasure to work with and gave us the most beautiful suite in the entire hotel suite 310! It was spacious, clean and fit for a bride! Our guests were so happy and pleased with their stay! Thank you Roslyn Hotel!! A++++++!!
We got married in July and used the Roslyn-Claremont as our hotel for the weekend. I stayed there the night before our wedding and got ready there during the day. Everything went smoothly. The staff at the front desk was so helpful and told me that their job was to make my day stress-free, and they did.
Katie was wonderful to work with throughout the months of planning and trying to make sure we had enough rooms for our guests but didn't block too many because there is an 80% guarantee rate. Any time I needed to increase it she called or emailed me back immediately and helped me figure out the best plan. She also made sure that we had the best rooms for what we needed, so I changed rooms before leaving for my wedding ceremony from the big room where we got ready to a suite for my husband and me. I was worried that it would be stressful to take care of that, but I didn't have to do anything. The staff moved all of my stuff for me and when we got to our new room that night a bottle of champagne and chocolates was waiting for us, and all of our stuff was neatly organized.
We also had our after party here after the wedding. The food was great and Max took care of everything for us. He just kept saying that we don't need to worry about anything and that he'd take care of it, and he did. We showed up to a great display of food and a big room for our guests to hang out. The only thing we didn't realize was how expensive the drinks would be at the after-party. We had a cash bar and felt a little bad that our guests were paying so much for drinks, but that's really the only negative thing I can say.
We didn't pay for breakfast for our guests the morning after, but we were pleasantly surprised to see that there was a free breakfast buffet, and not a chintzy continental breakfast. Eggs, pancakes, hash browns, danishes, muffins, bagels, croissants, etc.
One other great thing, there is a free massage chair on the second floor. It was well-needed the morning of my wedding after months of planning.
Overall, if you are looking to use this hotel as a wedding block, it is one of the only hotels in the area, but it's totally ok that there's not much of a choice because your decision will be easy and you will be completely happy with the experience. Thank you Katie and Max and the rest of the Roslyn-Claremont staff!
My husband and I spent our wedding night at this hotel, because it was so close to our venue. Our room was decorated nicely; but there were stains in the carpeting and cracks in the ceiling. From the windows of our "harbor view" room, one could see only the parking lot. We had to leave early the next morning (long story... had to rush home to pick my cat up from the hospital), so we did not have time for room service. Instead we went to the breakfast buffet....there was practically nothing there - a few soggy leaden bagels, cold cereal, an empty fruit salad bowl. No servers visible, no seats or table free. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone
Chris Drago the banquet manager is amazing!
