About this vendor
Roxy & Amelie Event Centers Downtown Joplin is a historic wedding venue in Joplin, MO. These two distinct venues sit right next to each other, with options to rent both for easy transition from reception to venue. Both spaces feature exposed brick, wood, and industrial modern textures to give a sophisticated look for any couple’s theme.
Roxy & Amelie Event Centers Downtown Joplin became open to the public in 2014, and has been providing unforgettable services ever since. Owner Jason Williams has years of experience in the wedding industry, and a passion for bringing happiness to engaged couples. The property was renovated with high focus on its design and layout, and transformed from an abandoned industrial garage to an elegant, historical location.
The Amelie venue provides large floor-to-ceiling windows surrounding the entrance, allowing plenty of natural light into its foyer. The event space features exposed brick walls, a bar area and dressing suite, and enough floor space for up to 300 guests. Next door, the Roxy venue can seat up to 400 guests, and has a high ceiling decorated with elegant white drapery cascading down the walls. Its intricate chandeliers provide romantic lighting throughout the space, including the bar service area to enjoy your visually pleasing cocktails. Both buildings are wheelchair accessible, and includes a 72-square-foot stage ready to be used for your speeches or head table placement. Their house sound system will ensure all the guests in the back enjoy the dance music. Tables, sheer backdrops, and gold Chiavari chairs will be set up in any arrangement you wish. Roxy & Amelie’s event manager is ready to help you every step of the way, from connecting with their on-site DJ, to facilitating special bar requests. The staff will handle setup, cleanup, and teardown while you enjoy the important moments of your day. The bar services can range from cash-bar style, to a full keg and case of wine provided by the venue’s team.

Our wedding was on July 16, 2017 so I believe some changes have occurred- however, a friend of mine recently (2021) had her reception at the Amelie (both sides) and struggled to get clear answers and professional service from the owner, which mimics the experience we had back in 2017. I can’t speak for her experience, but I will share ours so it can help out any future brides/grooms.
We had issues with consistency on price and services, and with professionalism from the previous manager, Charlie Brown. While Charlie was extremely caring, friendly, and flexible, he did not maintain boundaries during our wedding. For example, after specifically being told to come to any of the bridesmaids for issues; he directly went to me, the bride, about not having enough glasses for guests (I was in the middle of getting dressed into my reception outfit so what the heck could I do??). One of my bridesmaids easily resolved the issue by telling him to clean the dirty glasses and use paper cups from the back… Charlie also required us to write him a check for the reception before the party even finished- he claimed that the owner was pressuring him to do it. Thankfully, I brought my checkbook with me; but I couldn’t imagine having to have someone leave to go get my checkbook so we could pay him the rest of what was owed. However, there I was before our reception even finished, surrounded by guests, writing him a check…
In terms of consistency with pricing and services, we had back and forth with the owner on how much draping would cost. He also didn’t remember exactly what we had asked for- thankfully, I had it in an email so our discussion about it ended there. I made sure that he stuck with our original agreement on the draping price- he was quoting a higher price, which is something we didn’t originally agree with.
While the venue is stunning, I don’t recommend coming here due to the inconsistent service, questionable pricing practices, and professionalism.
this venue is incredible! They have everything on site! Chairs, table cloths, photos booth, tables, stages, you name it! They are so helpful and met every single one of our needs! The buildings already already decorated, so we only had to get a few things to make our day perfect! I can’t say anything negative about this venue, it was everything I could’ve dreamed of!
Jason made our experience better than I could have imagined! The staff was always very friendly, always answered any questions we had, and made sure to ease any concerns that came up. The venue is absolutely gorgeous and everything I could have dreamed for my wedding. So glad I went with the Roxy!
truly could not have had a better wedding and venue. the service was amazing from the day we booked it through the 9 months of planning and the day of. Would recommend this amazing industrial chic facility to anyone and EVERYONE!
