The staff at the Saint Paul Hotel made my wedding weekend feel so special! It was quite the whirlwind of logistics, moving pieces, and ALL the feelings, but the kind and professional staff took a lot of the stress out of the equation. I’d like to especially shout out Sam, who helped us a lot that weekend. From helping move carts of materials from the hotel to the Landmark Center on the morning of the wedding day to combining suitcases into my and my husband’s room that night to getting all our stuff out the next day, Sam was always there with a helping hand and a positive attitude.
My wife and I stayed at The Saint Paul Hotel for our wedding this past weekend and let me tell you, we have nothing but great things to say.
Setting up our wedding block was a breeze. Even though there was a major concert going on the same weekend they worked with us to make sure we had enough rooms available, and that the block was open as long as possible.
Before we even got to the hotel we knew we were going to have a lot of logistics for them to handle. We were getting married at a different location and had a ton of supplies in our wedding party’s cars that were going to have to come up to our room and then make it to vehicles and then the venue. From the moment we arrived the concierge team was exceptionally helpful as well as polite.
We had a suite reserved for our wedding weekend. I had called ahead and found out that day of they have discounted upgrade rates for higher levels of rooms if they are available. We were in luck at check in when we found out the Ordway Suite was available for our stay. Between our wedding rate and the less expensive upgrade charge we barely paid half of the regular rate for that suite. Having a dining room, a living room, a wet bar, and two bathrooms was fantastic for us to host our wedding party coming and going as well as anyone who got there too early to check in.
Back to the concierge. The number of times we ran cart loads of stuff between our cars and the top floor of the hotel as well as vice versa probably should have counted for running a marathon. Not only did the folks helping us never once make us feel like a burden, they asked if they could get things from our cars for us when we did not actually need our cars. They were so helpful and patient with us the entire weekend. I can’t speak highly enough of that entire team.
They have a first come first serve courtesy shuttle that can take you around the downtown area. We were able to utilize this shuttle for our rehearsal which was easy and convenient. For our wedding we were able to book a 3 hour dedicated shuttle for getting our guests to the venue and a 3 hour dedicated shuttle to get our guests back from the wedding. They made our day of logistics a breeze. Not having to worry about anyone driving after a night of drinking and partying really gave us a peace of mind.
The food and drink at the hotel were also a bright spot. The room service was better than we expected it to be and a fair price for being room service. We had a lovely breakfast down at The Drake one morning. Mikey with the dining group also helped us set up a brunch for a large gathering of our wedding guests the morning after which everyone was very happy with. The Saint Paul Grill got rave reviews from several of our guests as did the lobby bar. I was personally impressed with the selection at the bar in the Saint Paul Grill. The bartender was extremely knowledgeable and was able to recommend some truly unique bourbons my cousin and I had not seen before.
Last but most certainly not least is the location. The convenience of being right downtown was great. We were able to walk right across the street to our rehearsal dinner at Meritage. Not to mention the views from our room overlooking the river with the fall colors was just fantastic.
All I can say is if you are looking for the highest quality service with folks who go the extra mile, look no further than The Saint Paul Hotel. You will not be disappointed.
My wife and I went through The St Paul Hotel for our small wedding (just 25 people), and The St Paul Hotel delivered with fantastic staff, a lovely space, and tremendous food. As someone who has tough dietary restrictions it was a godsend for them to say "No problem," and give us menu options that worked within my restrictions. Our point of contact even stopped by with my favorite cocktail, even though we didn't book bar service. If we had to plan it again we would change nothing.
In September, my wife and I hosted 70 guests who attended our son and his fiancee's Prenuptial Welcome Dinner held at the Saint Paul Hotel. We live in Wisconsin and lacked knowledge about the Saint Paul area. Once we learned about the Saint Paul Hotel, we thought it would be an excellent venue to host our special event. Our initial email and phone communications with Tyler Paape went exceptionally well. He provided his expertise and counsel every step of the way, culminating with the actual execution of the event. Tyler provided numerous suggestions on how to make the night a unique experience for the betrothed couple and guests coming from across the country as well as those traveling from abroad. He and his team over-delivered towards meeting our expectations. A month later guests are still talking about how wonderful the event was including the hotel, its staff, decorations and food items. In summary, Tyler demonstrates outstanding client services skills with a strong focus on the customer that helps in the planning and execution of a lifetime memorable party and experience. He routinely practices integrity and trust while exhibiting strong business acumen on a regular basis. Tyler is an asset to the Saint Paul Hotel and is the consummate Catering and Sales Manager. We highly recommend Tyler Paape and the Saint Paul Hotel and truly look forward to a future opportunity to partner with them!
We had our wedding at the hotel last month and it was a dream! We worked with Tyler during the entire process and we have so many wonderful things to say about Tyler. He is very professional, organized, and responsive. I feel like he really cared about us. I had so many questions while planning the wedding and Tyler was very patient with us. The hotel is beautiful and the food was delicious. We received so many compliments from our guests on the venue and food. Choosing the hotel and working with Tyler was the best decision we made! Tyler - Thank you for everything! We had a wonderful experience working with you!
Saint Paul Hotel was the dream hotel venue for getting ready & for our wedding night. The bridal suite was booked, so we opted for an ambassador suite + king room, conjoined. It was the perfect amount of space for our 16+ group. We probably could have made it work in the one ambassador, but the extra room and closet were really helpful to store all of our items. Throughout the entire planning process they were prompt, helpful, and kind, helping us to navigate every step along the way. The hotel staff are the epitome of elite service as they are incredibly helpful with a welcoming smile and desire to help their guests. Jessica and Kira navigated every question we had and made sure that we had everything we needed to get ready on the day of, including mirrors & multi-plugs. We came into our suite with a beautiful card, bottle of champagne, and two glasses and it was the most thoughtful surprise. Thank you, Saint Paul Hotel, for the most incredible experience!!
We were blown away by the kindness of the staff and the top notch service we received at The Saint Paul Hotel. Mary Jo was FANTASTIC! She always responded to emails promptly, always found answers to our questions if she didn't know the answer, was not afraid to ask us questions if she was unclear about something and made sure our wedding day was absolutely perfect. The venue is stunning and the food was DELICIOUS! Our wedding guests are still reaching out and telling us how wonderful the food and service was at The Saint Paul Hotel. The bridal suite was perfect for me and my 3 bridesmaids to get ready for the day (although I would not recommend a bridal party greater than 4 for the size of the room). Many guests have mentioned they will be returning to the hotel for an additional stay. A few of our guests even bought the sheets from the hotel because they got "the best sleep they have ever had" during their stay for our wedding. We cannot say enough about this wonderful venue and Mary Jo and her staff. The staff helped us load and unload our vehicles, move things to our rooms, delivered gifts for our parents, help guest prep for their stay and so much more. Our other vendors have also mentioned how easy the hotel was to work with and how seamless the entire day was. We will definitely be returning and recommending the hotel for years to come!
As so many other couples have experienced - getting married this year had us making changes to our wedding plans a few times prior to our big day. I cannot believe how lucky we were that Mary Jo and the team at the Saint Paul Hotel was able to accommodate our wedding reception after our plans changed for the third and final time. Not only had they been so genuine, supportive and flexible with us from the beginning, but they celebration Mary Jo and her team put together for us was better than anything I had hoped for. This was truly the happiest day of our lives and the celebration we were able to have was magical and went off without a hitch. Everything was taken care of, and the food and drinks were INCREDIBLE. We had a fantastic experience and the Saint Paul Hotel will always be a special place for us! THANK YOU!
Beautiful venue and incredible staff to work with!
We used SPH for our food (married across the street) and as the hotel for us and our guests. Mary Jo is a superhero. She is organized, thoughtful, responsive, and caring. And the FOOD -- oh my gosh the food. It was delicious. I couldn't imagine better service.
Mary Jo is the BEST. It is because of her incredible skill, knowledge, and expertise we did not have to hire a wedding coordinator. She was in touch with us from day one and made our dreams come true. The food was phenomenal; in fact, people are still complimenting it 2 months later. The venue gorgeous. The L'etoile suite was the perfect place to get ready in the morning.
We had our wedding reception at the Saint Paul Hotel Ballroom, and incredible is an understatement!
Mary Jo is beyond fabulous to work with, she helped us decide on everything from menu choices to decor, she truly goes above and beyond to give her couples a wonderful wedding experience. In addition the entire St. Paul Hotel Staff was so kind and wonderful to work with, and the food was nothing short of amazing! The Saint Paul Hotel gave my husband and I memories that will last a lifetime and we already can't wait to go back!
Excellent location - romantic, elegant, and classy. Mary Jo was a delight to work with, very attentive and knowledgeable.
The chefs are creative and spectacular. They were willing to try dishes that were not on the menu to accommodate for ethnic varieties. Absolutely recommend working with the Saint Paul. They really took care of a lot of detail for us.
Stop what you are doing and book your ceremony and/or reception at The Saint Paul Hotel!!! We had both our ceremony and reception at The Saint Paul Hotel and could not recommend it more! We toured several venues in Saint Paul and were a bit reluctant to book a tour at The Saint Paul Hotel because we weren't sure if it would work for our budget. However, after visiting many venues, we realized many of them wanted to "nickel and dime" us for table linens, chairs, cake cutting fees, etc. - not at The Saint Paul Hotel! We found their wedding package to be a steal as it includes A LOT more than most other venues -and no "nickel and diming". After viewing the gorgeous Promenade ballroom and talking to Mary Jo Maloney for one minute, we knew it was the absolute perfect place to have our wedding! Mary Jo was an absolute DREAM to work with - you can tell she is truly passionate about her job and really cares about her clients. She was always so willing to meet with us at the hotel and answer emails/phone calls for any questions we had before our wedding day, was VERY attentive to detail, and made our wedding day absolutely PERFECT!!!! She is truly the best in the business - many of our vendors had worked with Mary Jo multiple times and were highly complimentary of her and the entire team at the hotel. Mary Jo takes on the role of contacting all of your vendors before the wedding day - photographer, florist, videographer, etc. and helps to make sure they know where to go, understand the timeline, etc.! The food and wait staff were also SO amazing - many of our guests commented on how attentive the wait staff was and how smoothly our day/timeline went compared to other venues they had attended weddings at. Thank you, Mary Jo and all staff at The Saint Paul Hotel for making our wedding day so special and memorable for us! We will cherish these memories forever and are so excited to come back for many anniversaries to come!
If I could give negative points I would. IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING THIS FOR A WEDDING AVOID AT ALL COSTS! On November 7 I reserved a banquet room for a vow renewal (for 50 people) November 4, 2018 paying a $1,000 deposit. Because of unforeseen family circumstances, I needed to cancel on December 12th. We had not attended a tasting or confirmed any details that would've required anything other than admin work on the part of the hotel. The contract allows them to keep 25%. No problem. I was promised a refund. December 20th I followed up with Mary Jo inquiring where my refund was. According to Mary Jo, they're very busy with the Holidays so I'd have it no later than the middle of the next week. OK... On December 29th I receive an email from Mary Jo that the Director was generous enough to decide that instead of OWING them $1,750, they'll reduce it to $1,000 so they'll only KEEP my entire deposit instead of me having to pay them more money! What?! Apparently, their new interpretation is that I owe 25% of the $7,000 food and beverage minimum not the deposit. Mind you, Mary Jo told us that she had worked in this position over a decade AND twice mentioned my refund. When I reminded her of this, she told me the Director would get back to me by January 3rd. Nothing. I had my lawyer review the contract and it DOES NOT state 25% of the F & B minimum so I followed up with another email yesterday to Mary Jo. Shocker... no refund or response. This is a lovely establishment and we dine here regularly because the food is excellent but I WOULD NEVER BOOK AND EVENT HERE. If they're this dishonest from the get go, I'm glad I didn't wait until the end when I had more money invested
We just had our wedding this weekend and I have to rave about how AMAZING the hotel teams were! Everyone was so hospitable, professional and completely in tune with my ceremony and reception details! The venue, service and concierge services were outstanding! And a plus is how beautiful the hotel. They did not miss a single detail and were so flexible with our ever changing seating chart, setup, and normal bustle of wedding planning. I couldn’t have asked for a better support system. They truly made our wedding our best day ever! Thank you St. Paul Hotel Team!
We booked our rehearsal dinner at M Street Cafe in the lower level of the Saint Paul Hotel and had most of our out of town guests book rooms there, us (bride and groom) included. The food and service on the night of our rehearsal dinner was amazing, and our guests could not stop raving about the food! The buffet, open bar, and ambiance provided a great setting for guests to mingle and socialize. The guest rooms at the hotel were also perfect. The groom and I stayed in the Ambassador Suite and it was a great location for us girls to get ready. We did end up reserving the conjoining bedroom next door as well to provide a little more space for getting ready the morning of. Everything from the room service, to the service in the Saint Paul grill, to the overall staff was fantastic. The hotel is beautifully historic and perfectly compliments any wedding in the Saint Paul area.
The Saint Paul Hotel is the perfect place for a reception. Mary Jo was our coordinator and she was a dream to work with and made everything easy for this busy bride. Our reception was held in the M Street Cafe, which was awesome for a smaller (100 people) reception. We got the entire bottom floor to ourselves and our guests loved it. Highly, highly recommended.
I had a New Years wedding at the SPH in the ballroom. I could not have dreamed of a more beautiful and elegant wedding even if I had tried. The space is already magnificent, and they still had all their holiday decorations up during our wedding. The food is fabulous - even our DJ said it was some of the best wedding food he's ever had. The service is second to none. The entire wait staff was amazing, and I had guests telling me weeks later how great their waiter was. We got ready in the bridal suite, and the experience was straight out of a movie. Our coordinator, Rachelle, unfortunately doesn't do weddings anymore, but she was wonderful to work with! I knew we made the right decision when we had people telling us, "this is the classiest wedding I've ever been to."
The Saint Paul Hotel was very easy to work with to block hotel rooms for Guests. I heard very positive feedback from everyone who stayed at the hotel as well.
I have no idea why anyone would get married anywhere else...The Saint Paul Hotel is amazing, and not just for the beauty and history, but for the service. Once you set foot in the hotel, you and your wedding guests are completely taken care of -- there is not a detaail or request left unattended to. Not only did we hold our reception in the Promenade Ballroom, but we also got married in the hotel, and I reserved the L'etoile Bridal Suite to get ready in. Our contact at the hotel, Mary Jo, was exceptional. Every vendor we worked with, from flowers to DJ, to photobooth, knew Mary Jo and had nothing but great things to say about her. Mary Jo clearly loves her job and is great at it -- she walked my husband and I through every step of the planning process -- it made wedding-planning nearly stress free and allowed us to truly enjoy the day. On top of the great service, the St. Paul Hotel provides delicious catering. Our guests have not stopped raving about the passed appetizers, their meals, and the late night snacks. And brides, if it's available, I 100% recommend getting ready in the bridal suite -- it will not only make your day less stressful, but the room is so beautiful -- it truly makes you feel like a bride. 100% would recommended the Saint Paul Hotel to any couple who's getting married.
We had the best experience with Mary Jo at the Saint Paul Hotel! So much so that this was the second wedding in our family that we had there. Mary Jo was so fabulous to work with and the end result was more than we could have ever imagined. Everything was perfect from beginning to end. She was able to capture exactly what we wanted and then some. Of all of the vendors we worked with during the planning stages, the Saint Paul Hotel was the most accommodating and had the best response time of anyone. We felt confident that we could leave most everything up to Mary Jo to handle and she certainly delivered! Our families and I would highly recommend having your wedding (or any event) at the Saint Paul Hotel!!
We had our wedding reception in the Promenade Ballroom at the Saint Paul Hotel and couldn't have asked for a better experience. Barbara and her team made the whole process of planning the reception easy and we ended up with a flawless evening. We had a few requests that we made of the hotel and they were able to accommodate all of them, something that made our wedding day so much easier and validated my choice to go with a higher cost venue. We got so many compliments on the food served, the staff was so flexible and helpful on every step of the way and the venue was of course, beautiful. I truly had no stress on my wedding day and couldn't have been happier!
SPH did a fabulous job - there were a few minor issues that were resulted immediately; Barbara was a pleasure to work with. The food was hands down the best food (not just "wedding food") - we had so many compliments from our guests about the food!
After visiting several wedding venues, I just so happened to stop into the Saint Paul Hotel (suggested by my mother). I was immediately taken by the beauty, elegance and classic looks of the Saint Paul Hotel.
I worked with Barbara who was attentive, timely and incredibly helpful. Barbara made sure every "I" was dotted and "T" was crossed; I felt completely comfortable leaving everything in her hands.
The day was a complete dream and more than anything I ever thought I could have. We had our wedding ceremony and reception in the ballroom, which was gorgeous. The wait staff was fantastic and the food was at a fine dining level. If you are considering booking your wedding at the Saint Paul Hotel, I highly recommend it. The staff will take excellent care of you and your guests.
expensive, but hey, it's your wedding night! I do not have a bad thing to say about the St Paul hotel. Everything was perfect and flawless from them having our suite setup for all the girls getting ready in the morning, to turning it over so it's perfect for our honeymoon night, to even delivering a card for my groom the morning of the wedding. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and this place is well worth the price.
Heidi and her crew at the Saint Paul Hotel were SO great to work with from start to finish. They were always responsive to emails and phone calls. They worked with me to find the right suite for our wedding night and were always so polite and pleasant to deal with. We had nice little notes welcoming us and congratulating us when we checked in. Our guests raved about their responsiveness for anything that was needed. They were only $40 more per night than the other hotel we used and the guests that stayed at the Saint Paul Hotel had a MUCH more pleasant stay.
We also did our Sunday brunch with them, which was perfect. Barb was great to work with to find the right items in our budget and the food was great. The room was set up well so we could eat and mingle as we pleased.
I would HIGHLY recommend the Saint Paul Hotel for a wedding night room and a room block!
The Saint Paul Hotel event manager and staff were exceptional.
Ever since I was a kid, I wanted to have my reception at the Saint Paul Hotel. On October 12, 2012, I did. Barbara and Heidi were fantastic to work with. They answered all of my questions with a smile (which was a lot, coming from a detail-oriented bride that works in the service industry) and never made me feel pressured or like I was too much (I'm sure I was). The M Street Cafe was beautiful - the ambiance was lovely and the waitstaff was stupendous. Our guests are still talking about how awesome our reception was! From the delicious courses, to the gourmet candy table (so cool, husband doesn't like cake so this was a great alternative - kids loved it!!) the meal was excellent. My husband and I had our own personal server who was perfectly engaged. Not too much, but never too far away. The whole staff accommodated all of our requests with grace and humility. No wonder they're an institution in the business. A wedding here will not be soon forgotten. Thank you so much, Saint Paul Hotel!!
There was no other place for us for our wedding! We've known the staff for years and we knew NO ONE would take better care of us - and we were right! You will NOT be disappointed!
The St. Paul Hotel was a lovely location to stay on our wedding night! We set up a room rate for our guests in advance and everyone as wowed by the caliber of hotel this was. The rooms were impeccable and the service spectacular. Heidi was our hotel contact throughout the process and she was extremely helpful in answering questions, keeping us up to date on who had booked under our rate reservation and very professional from the get-go. I was very happy with the service and treatment our small group of guests received from them! We will stay there again!
We got dumped by our reception venue twice (both reputable places) due to being sold. Once was 12 months out, which we handled just fine, but the last time was 4 months out, and we freaked. The St. Paul Hotel saved us!
They were amazing to work with from start to finish. Everything is EXACTLY how you want it, and nothing is too much for these guys. We never checked them out because we were sure they were out of our price range, but we ended up spending less than we would have at either place that dumped us, and we had a much better wedding than we would have otherwise too. I can't say enough good things, and these guys deserve so much praise for rescuing our wedding just 4 months from the date, and still making it the most amazing thing we could ever have hoped for.
I never expected so many people to tell me what a great time they had at the wedding. Two weeks after it was all done, people were still calling and texting to rave about it. I wish I could take the credit for it, but that all goes to The Saint Paul Hotel. They were helpful and kind and easy to work with from the first meeting we had with them until the day of the wedding. I couldn't have asked for a better team of people to make sure the day went off without a hitch. They made our big wedding (275 people) feel like an intimate dinner party. Of the downtown venues, this is also the place you will get the biggest bang for your buck, service and quality aside. There is no nickel and diming and everything is of the highest quality. Can't say enough good things...obviously.
We had a reception for roughly 100 guests in the James J. Hill Room. The Saint Paul Hotel is beautiful and doesn't require tons of extra decoration because it's stunning all by itself. From our taste-testing prior to the event until the end of our reception everything went great. We received a room at the hotel as part of our reception package and stayed in the Park Suite-AMAZING room with amazing views of the riverfront. I'm so glad we picked The Saint Paul Hotel. You will not be dissapointed!
The St. Paul Hotel was our first choice for our reception and we chose it because of the service and the intimate ambiance the M Street Cafe gave us. The reception and St. Paul Hotel exceeded our expectation. It was absolutely wonderful and our guests loved when the curtain opened for them to be seated, they said they felt more involved and also felt special too! It was so great sharing our special day with The St. Paul Hotel and Mary Jo, their catering manager.
My Wedding went very smoothly from start to finish and working with their wedding coordinator Mary Jo was amazing :) It was a great experience for myself and all our guests.
Great atmosphere and servicee! The wedding coordinator at the Hotel is so helpful - contacting vendors and arranging for them to drop off things and be at the reception at the right time! Took care of details I did not need to. White glove service and not as expensive as people thought it would be.
Aside from the clearly beautiful hotel and event spaces, it was the service that set the Saint Paul Hotel apart. My husband and I worked with MaryJo who was helpful and responsive throughout the entire planning process. Some people might feel The SPH is out of their price range but when you consider how much is included and taken care of for you it's a great deal. There was no need for us to rent tables, chairs, linens, chair covers, stemware, etc. The butler-passed hors d'ouevres and honeymoon suite were nice perks. The food and especially the cake were delicious (and so pretty)! I was happy to know that at least one of the event/banquet coordinators would be available for the entire wedding day until the end of the night to help coordinate with our vendors and take care of any issues that came up. No matter our requests, someone at the SPH was happy to help us make it happen. I really felt like I didn't need to worry about anything the day of the wedding because I knew someone was taking care of everything. I look forward to celebrating many anniversaries there!
