We also got to attend a tasting prior to choosing the meals/apps for our event, which I know many venues are no longer doing during this pandemic. Leading up to our wedding, there was a COVID surge that added to the stress that comes along with planning a wedding, but Paula, Melissa, and Desmond were wonderful and accommodating. They addressed all of our concerns, and helped to alleviate some of our stress. Our wedding was an incredible, unforgettable, and practically flawless evening. We received so many compliments from guests saying that it was probably their favorite wedding they’ve ever attended. The food, the service, and just the aesthetic of the venue was perfect. Special shout-out to Johnna, our wedding day attendant, who was just so lovely and sweet, and anticipated our every need throughout the night. I would absolutely recommend the Society Room to anyone planning a wedding or special event!

The ceiling fixtures bathed the ballroom with a glowing warmth that set the tone for the whole evening. Our guests gazed upon the artful designs adorning the ceilings, not to mention the colossal marble pillars reaching up to them. The bank vault made for such a unique and picturesque scene like something straight out of a movie. In addition, the tables, seating, dishware, and silverware blended so well into the overall aesthetic. A beautiful venue is nothing without proper planning and coordination, and we have to say the Society Room exceeded in these regards, as well. From the moment we met with Jim and Melissa expressing our initial interest in this venue, we were met with helpful, responsive correspondence to all our questions, concerns, and requests. In the midst of a pandemic and the uncertainty it posed, we felt much more secure in our planning by having a team we could easily communicate with. In terms of service, the Society Room was unparalleled. As for the food, the venue delivered a delectable assortment of dishes. The hors d'oeuvres were tasty and flowed endlessly throughout cocktail hour from the refreshing shrimp cocktail to the zesty mini buffalo empanadas. The entr​​ées led to many clean plates, with the braised short rib & mashed potatoes easily becoming a fan favorite. The staff were extremely accommodating to all food allergies and dietary restrictions. They worked with us closely during prior planning, as well as the day of the event, making sure to double-check with each guest before serving their plate. They made the process for our wedding seamless and beautiful! The food was amazing and people are still talking about it after a month! The photobooth Vault is amazing! This place is good for all celebrations and I have been spreading the word to those I know who inquired about our experience. If we are still living in CT in 10 years, I think we will have our celebration there!

When it was time to rebook, Riverhouse didn't have any Saturdays available so we asked if we could check out availability for The Society Room. We had went to see that venue first and it was my (now) husband's favorite. They said yes without hesitation and seamlessly moved our entire event over to the Society Room. We got married there on 7/10/2021 and I am STILL receiving compliments daily about how unique the venue was, how delicious the food and drinks were, how fun the entire celebration was - we got our dream wedding after all, I had been wanting to cancel this thing since we got postponed. I would never gotten the chance to see how amazing Melissa, Desmond, Jim and the entire Society Room crew were. I cannot thank them enough, our wedding was perfect TRULY. I wish I could relive that day a million times. No one can match the attention to detail and thoughtfulness of the Society Room and Riverhouse. You guys are wonderful and I can't thank you enough!!!

I had my dream wedding and it all started with the venue. The society room thinks of everything a wedding needs and includes it in the price! Parking, hotel stay, cake, bar, it's all included. No renting of table linens or chairs this venue delivers! I'd do it all again with the Society Room!

When we finally had our wedding in June of 2021, the planning and preparedness of the staff was top-notch. Even the tastings were well organized! We had a prohibition-style/speakeasy theme for our wedding reception and the Society Room staff played their part with the details and decorations that I didn't even think of such as the set-up for the harvest table and the wedding favors! A BIG shoutout to both Melissa's and Desmond and his staff! We were looking for something that was all-inclusive with regards to ceremony, reception and catering and the Society Room hit it out the park on all levels! Our wedding guests are STILL talking about how much they enjoyed themselves at our wedding! Thank you so much for making wedding day so special!

Compared to some of my friends and family member's weddings I have been a part of, our process was so stress free and the venue went above and beyond to make sure that anything they could help us with, they did. We even had a private tour of the venue with Jim the GM of Riverhouse Catering on a Sunday to ensure our parents could see the venue before we signed off. You were all amazing and went above and beyond to ensure we didn't worry about a thing. The food is AMAZING. Best wedding food I have ever eaten and our guests all really enjoyed their meals. The Venue speaks for itself, it has a TON of character that made our wedding a little more unique than some of the other traditional indoor venues. We had a large wedding and utilized the top and bottom levels for our reception. At first I was a little worried about this, but it was SO awesome. After dinner, everyone who was upstairs came down to dance. The food was delicious, from cocktail hour to dinner everything was executed perfectly. I also really loved the way they invited 50 couples to an event to sample and select food choices in advance of the meeting. Service the night of the wedding was also incredible. I received really positive feedback from all the guests, and my husband and I couldn't have been happier. Price was really reasonable considering the quality of food, service, environment. Overall, I would 100% recommend this venue to anyone planning their wedding. There wasn't one thing that went wrong and we had an amazing experience working with Melissa and the rest of the team at the Society Room. I am so thankful we chose it for our day.

Even better, when we sat down and really looked at all that the Society Room provides for its couples that we realized what an amazing deal this venue is. The ‘all inclusive’ aspect of their service is what sets them apart from many other venues we looked at. They take care of so many parts of the process and for the services they don't provide themselves, they have amazing vendors they can recommend and have worked with before. This made us feel so at ease and knowing we were in Melissa’s more than capable hands during the planning process was incredibly reassuring. When we started booking our other vendors for the day, we knew we had made the best choice when many of them expressed excitement at being able to work our wedding at The Society Room and praised the venue’s professionalism and good food! We were living across the country while planning our wedding and The Society Room took so much stress out of planning our big day, they made it actually feel easy. Everyone commented in the week before my wedding that I was one of the least stressed brides they had ever seen and I can say without a doubt that was due to Melissa, Desmond, and the entire team helping me ensure every detail was perfect. The food was phenomenal, the service was amazing, and then you're surrounded by such an elegant and glamorous space, all of our guests were talking about how perfect our wedding day was. Many even said it was one of the best weddings they've attended! This is entirely thanks to the hard work that was put in by the venue leading up to and on the day of our wedding and I am so grateful for it. Because of them I was able to just relax and enjoy and take in my wedding and not worry about a single thing. We couldn't have asked for a better day, a better team, and a better location!

The venue itself is so unique with the historic 20s feel. Plus where else can you take photos in a real bank vault! We had the absolute best day and so did our guests!

Attendant, Johnna, were FABULOUS. They checked in on us constantly and communicated with our vendors. We didn't have to worry about anything and were able to enjoy our time with our guests! Johnna over heard me in the bridal suite talking to one of my bridesmaids that I hated champagne. After that, she let me know that she put sauvignon blanc (which was what I was drinking) in my champagne flute instead for our toasts. I was so impressed!!! She truly took care of us and made us feel very special. The food was amazing as well. The mashed potatoes were out of this world and the hors d'oeuvres were perfect! We are still getting compliments from guests that it was the best wedding!! I wish I could go back and relive the day over and over!! <3 Thank you everyone at The Society Room!!!

Jonna were all extremely professional and helpful. Melissa was the coordinator before the big day and answered any and all of our questions which was fantastic! Desmond and Jonna were there for us on THE DAY and were everywhere! They worked very hard to make sure we had fun and we did!! So thanks! They also gave us pointers on what to expect and I especially appreciated Desmond's advice of not to look at the officiant during the ceremony! Our pictures of the ceremony look awesome because we were staring at each other not the officiant!! Jonna made sure I had everything I needed! We had last minute changes to things at the final meeting and Melissa and team were extremely accommodating! Overall it was the little things they did or helped with that really made our day! What a great professional team! Well done!

Not only was the architecture gorgeous, but the service was top notch. Melissa did an amazing job of guiding us through the wedding-planning-process and helping us with every little question we had. With a 210-person wedding we needed all the help we could get. One of the best parts of the planning process was the grand tasting event 8 months before our wedding where they let you try EVERYTHING on the menu before you choose your own menu-even down to the wines you wanted to serve. We loved that. Our guests RAVED about the food the day of the wedding, and after, saying they had so many different and fun food options. On the day of the wedding, Cecelia and Desmond (the director of operations) took over and everything was flawless. All the decorations were put in place perfectly and anything we needed, we got with no questions asked. At one point, I even asked for pliers because my bustle wasn’t staying together and they had those, and a needle and thread ready just in case. It really felt like we were royalty for a day! Guests have been saying it was the best wedding they have ever been to (I might be partial) but I agree! I hope I’m able to return as a guest again some day.

With a December wedding you have to compete with holiday parties for the time you want. We went with an afternoon reception, which was cheaper and gave us more flexibility for an after party. From start to finish this venue is a professional and well-oiled machine. Once you've booked you meet with your wedding coordinator several times to go over details and plan everything just the way you want it. They host tasting parties with other couples getting married around the same time you are to help you decide what food you want to serve on the big day. And they put you at ease knowing that your wedding day is in good hands so when the day arrives and you don't remember all the fine details, they have it covered. Our wedding was an amazing day celebrated with friends and family and we have The Society Room to thank for hosting and executing our wedding flawlessly!

The planning process was seamless, they even helped me shape my vision for the wedding day when I wasn't able to make decisions. I had some last minute allergies come up the day before the wedding and without hesitation they were able to change those meals for my guests. The wedding day was perfect. My husband and I each had an attendant who always made sure we had a drink if we wanted it and reminded us to eat. My guests had an incredible time and can't stop talking about how AMAZING the food is! If you're looking for a venue that will take away the stress of wedding planning and has superb service and amazing food with an incredible ambience, The Society Room is for you!

uld be a bit more accommodating. They give you a bunch of reasons why they can't accommodate something rather than reasons why they can. Very strict on their policies and they don't bend on anything. At times it felt almost like they didn't want us there! Ladies with the sales team were always responsive when I had questions, but you have to be sure you are asking. The day of was a bit stressful, the last thing I wanted to do was be on the phone with them (as we are walking out of the church) to tell them they have to move around some things in the ballroom (that they were less than thrilled to accommodate). Bartender the night of was very rude to my guests. Food was great. Overall, I just wish they were easier to work with. As I said, it is a beautiful venue, I'd recommend it if you are looking for the beauty of the venue itself, but they were not the easiest to deal with!

rent - the sense of history and character were truly unique. But a good venue is more than just the setting - and the staff is where Society Room truly differentiates. They were so organized and responsive - I had dozens of questions in the lead-up to the big day, and they helped plan the truly perfect day for us. The night of the wedding, they ensured everything flowed smoothly and that my husband and I, our families, and all our guests were taken care of. Couldn't have found a more perfect venue!

Any questions I had (even the silly ones) were answered right away. We love that they do a tasting for the booked couples. The food was phenomenal. We were able to make our food choices because we had tasted everything. I also had a request that no pork be served and it was no issue to modify the harvest table to remove the pork. Our next meeting/walk thru was with Melissa and Desmond, and they were both amazing. We walked through everything, they took inventory of all of the items we brought (décor and candles). We were also having specialty desserts and they said that was no problem. Working with the professional staff at the Society Room just made this stressful time so much easier. We knew we were in good hands. Our wedding went perfectly, Desmond had everything handled, he made sure everything went smoothly. The food, the venue, the staff, all just amazing. Thank you to everyone as the Society Room who works so hard to make such wonderful events for anyone who books. There was a late hiccup, as we found out two days prior that Pratt Street would be shut down for an event, leading up until the ceremony, but Melissa handled my concerns very professionally and calmed my nerves by offering several reasonable accommodations. Desmond and Johnna were incredibly attentive and the night flowed very smoothly and efficiently. Our guests raved about all of the food, from the hors d'oeuvres through dinner, as well as the spectacular setting. I would absolutely recommend The Society Room to any couples seeking a classically classy setting for their special day!

The one complaint I have is that prior to the ceremony, we were given no direction in preparing for the day. We were also told there would be someone to assist in bustling the dress, however the woman did not know how. My advice to upcoming brides would be to ask about the concerns above and make sure you get the assistance that you deserve on your day of to avoid any unneeded anxiety. Other than that one complaint, our day was absolutely amazing and special to my family and my husband

f! We were also blown away by the food provided by Riverhouse catering both at the free tasting and on the day. With the combination of the beautiful setting and amazing food,we knew our guests wouldn't be disappointed. The staff at The Society Room are absolutely wonderful and so lovely to deal with. Whenever I contacted them about something to do with our wedding day,the response was always extremely quick ( something which is not only reassuring but avoids frustration when trying to organize so many things!). On the day itself, the venue looked absolutely amazing. The event was ran like clockwork and all of our guests went away commenting how elegant and flawless it was. The only thing we would say is that sometimes they are all business at a party. We had a couple of background issues on the run up to the day and the day itself and this is the only reason why I couldn't award a full 5 stars. The issues themselves were minor in the grand scheme of the day and not something which affected our guests,but were things that did affect us. They were related to personal preferences. For example, we were originally told that we could bring in our own bottle of whisky for a corkage fee to the groom's cottage, but the story changed to yes we could bring it but only if they served it, to no you cannot bring it and it can only go behind the bar at the reception. In addition to this they do not allow whisky served neat which was an utter disappointment to us as that is my husband's drink of choice and he couldn't have it on his wedding day. Perhaps the worst error was though that they wouldn't serve the beer in the groom's coattge that was suppose to be ready upon arrival despite my husband asking for it twice. They brought it out when the doors opened by which time him and his friends were away to welcome guests. The champagne was out in the bridal suite for me and the girls and the poor boys had water and soda only. They did apologise for this but there really was no valid reason as to why this happened. Despite these issues we would recommend The Society Room as it really is such a unique and wonderful place where we had an absolutely amazing wedding ran by professionals. Not only this,but we felt that in terms of cost per head it was much more reasonable compared to other venues nearby that didn't have nearly as nice a setting. We were pleased with the final cost ( we opted for a Friday where the minimum numbers were lower). It was also great not having to worry about the weather on the day as the venue is obviously indoors!It did rain and thunder a bit on our day but we were oblivious as we were partying away inside!

We told originally that we could bring our own beer in and they would buy it from us but that story changed when it got closer to our wedding. We brought our own beer in but had to pay for it ourselves plus pay an additional fee to clean the lines. The day of I wish we were treated a little better - my brother in law bought my bridal party a nice bottle Champaign to enjoy in the bridal suite and they would not let him bring it to us. Guest couldn’t take home food they didn’t finish wish I wasn’t happy about because we paid for those meals. And the part that I really didn’t like is that our wedding ended at 4:30 and at 4:35 my guest were literally getting yelled out to leaved because another wedding was coming in at 6. We totally understand we need to get out but didn’t need people to raise their voice at me or my guest. There were definitely ups and downs but we had a nice wedding and that’s the important part.

They truly made us and everyone in attendance feel special. Melissa V. was fabulous along the way with keeping us on track with the plans and getting in touch with our vendors. Cecilia had every detail worked out for us that day. And our bridal attendant, Melissa, knew just when to pop over to me to see if I needed anything. I would most definitely recommend The Society Room.

Melissa V. was so helpful and responsive to all of my questions and happily accommodated my many trips to the venue with my family, photographer, musicians etc. prior to the big day. Cecilia was one of my favorite parts of the actual wedding day! She had everyone exactly in place, was perfectly on schedule and is on top of every single detail. She is superwoman! Our attendant Melissa was so gracious and kind; it was the best to feel like someone was there watching out for us to make sure we had food and drinks, or if there was literally anything we could possibly need. I've been receiving rave reviews from our guests about the food and the gorgeous venue ever since; a few people have said it was one of of the best weddings they've ever attended. Most importantly, TSR staff made the entire experience as stress-free as possible so my husband and I were able to have an amazing day full of love, friends and family!

With grace and aplum, the team at Society Room accommodated every single request they possibly could, going above and beyond when it came to pre-booking communications, concessions from their kitchen and service team, everything was the absolute top tier of service. And the venue… what an incredible, unique, elegant, opulent, awe-inspiring space! It was timeless, classic and warm and perfectly fit the European princess vision. We had 180 guests at our wedding, so we put the younger folks on the second floor and they all came down to dance after dinner and the rest of our guests fit very comfortably on the first floor with a 7 piece band and large dance floor. We missed most of our cocktail hour but snuck a peak at the setup while we were taking photos and again, above and beyond what was discussed as the vision, they took everything to the next level and exceeded expectations at every turn. We had a server attend to us the entire night, and service for all our guests seemed smooth, courteous and plentiful. My husband works in the restaurant industry, so food was of major importance to him when it came time to plan our wedding. The open house evening where we were allowed to taste all their hors’ d’ouevres and many of their entrees was such a smart, unique way to invite all brides and grooms for the upcoming season to try the food, and see the space set up for an actual wedding to help initiate ideas about how our reception would look. We had some feedback on the food and the team was happy to change things, while working within the strengths of their chef, and even offered a tasting of the updated menu items in a few ways so we could taste and decide on a final menu. All the food was delicious from the exceptional cocktail hour, to dinner and fantastic late night snacks. We were both looking for a transformative space to celebrate with our loved ones. We found that in the Society Room, alongside an incredibly trained staff and an exceptional wedding planning crew that made planning our wedding reception as seamless as possible. Kirsten and Melissa were with us every step of the way. They answered emails immediately, were creative to make sure my wedding vision came to life perfectly, and addressed all of my concerns thoroughly. The hardest part about having our wedding in that space was getting everyone to leave and go to the after party. We cannot recommend The Society Room of Hartford enough!!

They answered emails immediately, were creative to make sure my wedding vision came to life perfectly, and addressed all of my concerns thoroughly. The day of, the three managers took care of everything. Jonna made sure that my fiance and I got appetizers in the bridal suite, sat and ate our dinner and never had to wait in line for a drink. At the end of the night, they packed everything up for me and brought it out the car for my dad. They attended to every single thing before I could even think of it and ensured that I had the most relaxing and fun night! I would recommend this venue to anyone and everyone. They are incredible!!!

a mock wedding which I really enjoyed. At the mock wedding, you get to see the venue set up for a “wedding” and try every hors d’ourve and meal option. This was great because some things I thought I’d love, I didn’t. And some things I wouldn’t have considered, I loved. The hors d’ourves were amazing (my favorite was a mini smoked gouda corn chowder boule, so good. The BBQ braised short rib was also amazing as a meal choice, everyone loved it). For the week of the wedding, I loved that I filled out all of the paperwork and boxed all my reception items ahead of time to drop off and review at the final meeting. It was a relief to drop of the reception items early. The actual wedding was amazing. I had both my ceremony and reception there. They have a beautiful staircase for the bride to walk down before going down the aisle. As for pictures, we took most of our pictures right outside on Pratt street which was a great option. There is also a very cool, old bank vault that guests liked taking photos in. The reception ran wonderfully; I had an attendant Jonna who was very attentive, got me drinks all night, brought my veil to the bridal suite for me, and just checked in to make sure I was doing okay. At the end of the night, all of my boxes were packaged up and we were able to cart them across the street to the Residence Inn where we were staying (the hotel across the street was a great convenience). I had a wonderful experience with the Society Room and am so grateful for the entire staff who made my wedding day so wonderful.

From the moment we started planning with Kirsten (shout out to her especially...she answered our million questions and made us feel so comfortable), to the day of operations team, to our bridal attendant that was always where we needed her during the wedding (thank you a million, Melissa!), they are absolute perfection. As someone who may be a bit of a control freak, I had every confidence in the world that this team would handle everything expertly, and they did not let me down. They delivered in ways I couldn't have predicted, from setting up our Photo Booth in the vault, to the way they set up all of our decor, to running and grabbing a few items from the bridal suite for us (twice!) to handling an issued with a guest -- just everything was taken care of in the best possible way. The food was fantastic! All of our guests raved about the appetizers and entrees. Go for the late night fry station, it was a huge hit! All in all we could not have picked a better location for our wedding and if you're aiming for an elegant, classy wedding, this is the place for you!! Thank you again to the entire staff! Wish we could do it again!

elissa basically made sure everything was on schedule and where it needed to be and pretty much held my hand the entire process. My day was stress free bc of them bc I knew they had it under control. Everything was perfect and I would 10 times out of 10 recommend them.

Again, it made everything so easy! Fifth, the food was delicious. My husband is a foodie and he loved everything! I would highly recommend this venue for any event. g went perfectly. Our guests cannot say enough about the beauty of the venue, the food and the service. It was absolutely top-notch. Once we booked the SR for our March wedding, everything else about our wedding theme fell into place. We used the Cottage area for our cocktail hour which has the vibe of an Irish or English pub and the ballroom for our reception which had a very old world appeal. Because of the ornate ceiling and beautiful design of the room, not much else is really needed so we kept it very simple, using gold candelabras rather than floral centerpieces. This allowed us to keep our budget down as well and added more light and ambiance to the ballroom. The staff at the SR were absolutely fantastic, making sure we had everything we needed. Kirsten was a dream to work with in our planning stages and always had a quick answer to our questions. The cocktail hour on the Mezzanine is a stunner and really set the mood for the night. We have been to probably 50 weddings around the area and we wanted something different and not the typical wedding factory look, and the SR checked ALL the boxes for us.
