The St. Clair Inn was the first, and only, venue we considered for our wedding. We were planning a small wedding, and we used "the porches" and the 1926 room for our wedding, and it could not have been a more perfect setting for both the wedding and the pictures.
The facilities need basically no decorating and were a great backdrop to our special day, with great areas for pictures around the grounds as well.
We managed the planning of the wedding ourselves, and I'm not sure we would have pulled it all off without our venue coordinator Martin's help, especially as the day got close.
Martin seemed personally invested in the success of our wedding, and was a pleasure to deal with at all times. Direct and to the point when needed, open to changes and modifications and willing to help anywhere he could to make the day right.
Unwillingness to work with couple on venue touring, but ready to ask who will be signing the contract up front. Very disheartening to work with a vendor who cannot accommodate guests.
All I can say is our wedding day was absolutely breathtaking, it went incredibly smooth! Martin and his team were so kind and helpful, they went above and beyond any expectations my husband and I had! I cannot recommend The St. Clair Inn enough! If you choose The St. Clair Inn you will not be disappointed!!
We cannot say enough amazing things about our experience working with the St. Clair Inn for our wedding. Obviously, the venue is beautiful. The historic charm of the Inn and views of the river create a stunning backdrop. All of our photos turned out absolutely gorgeous.
The staff was truly phenomenal. Samantha went above and beyond to make sure every detail of our day was flawless. They were so organized and professional throughout the entire process. When our photos ran late into cocktail hour, they seamlessly adjusted the reception timeline to make sure we still had time to enjoy everything. Martin even checked in during dinner to make sure I took a break from mingling to eat—a small but incredibly thoughtful gesture. Their dedication to ensuring everything went smoothly made all the difference.
One of the biggest advantages of the St. Clair Inn was the convenience it provided for us and our guests. Having everything in one location was a game-changer. The cottages were the perfect spot for getting ready, plenty of natural light (great for photos!). The Speakeasy was such a fun and unique place for everyone to gather the night before the wedding—it really set the tone for the weekend.
Our guests absolutely raved about their experience (especially the bar and bartenders!) Many of them stayed on-site and loved the ease of being able to walk back to their rooms at the end of the night. They also had a blast exploring the area during their downtime, enjoying the river walk, nearby restaurants, and, of course, the incredible views. So many of them shared stunning photos they took along the river, and it made us so happy to see how much they enjoyed themselves.
Finally, the food and service were top-notch. I’ve never seen guests so excited about a late night snack as they were for the coney dogs!
The St. Clair Inn truly made our wedding day perfect. We’re so grateful to have chosen this venue!!
After looking in to multiple venus for our wedding, the St. Clair Inn was the obvious choice for us and we couldn’t have been happier with this selection. The St. Clair Inn is a stunning venue on the water, and the staff made our wedding process smooth as possible from start to finish. They handled all of the food, drinks, cake, linens, and more, which made planning a wedding seem easy. The coordinator, Samantha, was a pleasure to work with and made sure everything went smoothly throughout the year of planning as well as the day of. The food was excellent and our guests loved having everything in one location. We highly recommend renting the cabins, as having our own space made the day that much better. Our wedding was everything we wished for and we couldn’t have been happier with our choice.
We couldn't be happier with choosing this venue. We had the most perfect day. From the incredible views, amazing food, helpful and attentive staff, Samantha- who was our event coordinator at the venue, and accommodations everything was perfect. The reception space is beautiful- with floor to ceiling windows that look out on the water. You did not feel like you were trapped in a huge room. This venue is unique in that way! We booked 2 of the cottages and we are so happy these are on the property. They were the perfect getting ready space, "home base" for family, storage area for our wedding things, and provided so much comfort. The 2 cottages also helped keep things less chaotic. The cottages are on the property which was a HUGE plus. The venue also has a prohibition room which was AMAZING for photos- attached one to this review. I highly recommend this stunning venue for your wedding, and booking the cottages- they are WORTH IT.
Our experience at the St. Clair Inn was nothing short of amazing. From the very first visit we knew that the St. Clair Inn was exactly what we were looking for in our wedding venue. The venue itself is a perfect combination or historic and updated and it is right on the water. We were able to do our ceremony, cocktail hour, reception and guestrooms all in one spot without the need for any transportation. The planning process with Samantha was great, she was so helpful, responsive and made everything so easy. The staff provided us fantastic service during the tasting and the wedding day itself. The food was fantastic. We really have nothing but fabulous things to say. Thank you so much and highly recommend this venue!!
The staff of the St. Clair Inn were amazing! We worked with Martin Trombley as our Sales & Events Manager and he went above and beyond for us. The atmosphere was beautiful, and the food was delicious (including our cake which was catered in house) but what really sealed the deal in our experience was the team. Martin was always prompt, thorough and detailed in his responses to us, and checked in with us frequently to meet any concerns we had. He was organized, and had excellent communication and customer service. Throughout the night, he took the time to set aside our cocktail hour hors d'oeuvres, check in to see if we were eating and more. He also consistently had a positive energy throughout all planning and he and the team were quick to make any changes for us, even when they were last minute. Our guests spoke very highly of the event and the service from the staff throughout the night. Everything went well from the time of planning, the rehearsal dinner, and the wedding day itself. If you are looking to get married at a waterfront venue, this is it!
Everything was beautiful and Samantha, our coordinator was very helpful with all of the steps along the way!
We had our wedding here this past June. Their team was absolutely amazing. Food was incredible. We had worked with several people over the year and half engagement but the final person we worked with Martin was absolutely incredible. His attention to detail was amazing overall made our wedding day seamless! We can’t thank the St. Clair staff enough for providing us with top tier service. The venue scenery is absolutely beautiful. Overall great venue and staff. They made our wedding day absolutely perfect! Highly recommended them for anyone’s big day!
I can't say enough amazing things about the St. Clair Inn and their team. We had the most beautiful wedding last weekend and everything went perfectly. Samantha was absolutely fantastic throughout the entire planning process and answered all of my questions promptly and made me feel completely at ease that everything would go according to plan the day of. Every staff member the day of our wedding was super kind and helpful and a special thank you to Martin who kept all things running smoothly the day of the wedding. If you're in search of your dream wedding venue in Michigan I can't recommend the St. Clair Inn enough!
Everything was set up we had no extra asks or problems. The staff was extremely courteous and overall very helpful.
Stunning Waterfront Venue
Our vow renewal/ 20th Anniversary Party was held at the St. Clair Inn in October, 2023. We utilized the Inn for lodging, booking several rooms, using the “block” rate. There was an issue with the HVAC system for some rooms during our stay, but they were compensated for the inconvenience, which was greatly appreciated.
Our get together took place in the ballroom, with wonderful views of the river. Guests enjoyed watching barges and boats as they went by, adding to the venue’s ambiance.
All went smoothly; the efficient staff taking care of every detail from set up to tear down.
We served the Italian Buffet which was a hit, with many accolades from guests. Bar service was excellent; and all servers were very attentive and professional.
It was a pleasure to work with the sales staff…kudos to Samantha and Jhara! All in all, an outstanding experience. Highly recommend this venue. You won’t be disappointed!
The St Clair Inn was seriously the perfect venue. They went above and beyond to give us such a phenomenal experience and Jhara and her team were just incredible. From being super reasonable price-wise, to being open to all of our non-traditional wedding ideas, to just being an absolutely gorgeous place to get married, we cannot stop talking about how perfect of a venue this is. I loved that our guests were able to stay there without having to worry about travel at the end of the night, I loved the getting ready room that was provided, and they were just so kind and made everything so easy. I could literally go on for days. 1000000/10 would recommend!
Great venue, great management and staff, just all around made our wedding day fantastic!
Where to begin. We toured the SCI in December 2021, and determined it was perfect for our rehearsal dinner. The manager at that time took us through a room called the 1926, and assured us it was open on our date.
3 months later we were informed the organization was going under a restructuring, but our contract was perfectly intact.
About 1 week before our date, we were informed that the 1926 was no longer available and we would be moved into the sports bar. While this was not ideal, we did realize our deposit did not mention the name of the room. We had no power and basically agreed to move. Very disappointing. We like idea of a large room, long tables, and a great view.
Instead, the dive bar was split into tables of 4 (likely because they wanted to open it up immediately after)
It did not have the same vibe. Oh well, they open bar from 6pm-8pm and we got started. While the staff was very nice at pouring drinks, food finally came out around 7pm. We had booked 38 people, buffet style which consisted of two salads, chicken, meatballs, pasta, veggie, desserts. Mind you, only 36 people actually showed up.
Plain and simple, we ran out of food. There was no one monitoring the buffet. We had to inform the bartenders, who were basically disconnected. After kicking and screaming, 45 minutes later, a second round of food showed up. By that time, people basically were out of dinner mode, done eating, and wanted to mingle. Food was basically wasted.
We were told several things, like “the kitchen is not close to the bar” which is literally same building. I can make a salad in 7 minutes, why did it take 45. Extremely aggravating when you spend $3100 and less people actually showed up and still people are left hungry. I have heard horror stories from other people which is why we didn’t have our wedding here. Pretty hard to mess up a buffet, but they did.
Regardless, their managers did come over. We were told that that we’d be getting a call from the directors to fix this multiple times throughout the conversation. Well 10 months later, no phone call from anyone. Took the money and ran!
Not a warm and fuzzy feeling, at all. Depressing!
We had our wedding here in June of 2022. The place is beautiful, the food was phenomenal and drinks kept coming! If those are the most important things for you than this is the place for you! I did have a few disappointments along my journey. 1) the Skybar that I originally wanted and planned to have my reception in was still under construction after 18 months of construction! 2) I had a total of 3 wedding coordinators and the 2nd one, Nancy was very hard to get a timely responses from. I had to come to her about my food tasting, vendors, etc. I felt like it should have been the other way around. 3) our alternative room was the 1920s which was a great plan B but what I was afraid would happen with this room happened. The dance floor is separated from the dining room by open windows so not all our guests could see our first dance from their dinner table, the outside patio was so far away from the main room that it made it hard for us, bride and groom to visit with everyone in a central space. At the end of the day our last coordinator, Karleen was amazing! she was responsive, easy to work with and provided you answers to all your questions, helped with some minor setups and moving (wish I had her the entire time!) The property is BEAUTIFUL and so many get spots for photos. Our day was beyond prefect and wouldn't have changed anything about it.
Our experience with St. Clair Inn got off to Rocky, as they transitioned between ownership. However, I can say by the time we got married everything was great. Everyone was very accommodating to us and our guests, and I can honestly say we have no complaints. The grounds and hotel are beautiful, and I would not hesitate to recommend this venue to anyone.
We were looking for a beautiful venue on the water when we came upon the St Clair Inn. The renovations and updates to this venue are breathtaking and having a venue right on the water made for a beautiful backdrop for our wedding. Hopefully you will get the chance to work with Nancy if you go here, she was great. She was able to help make all of my wants a reality and had everything structure so I had the perfect wedding. This place is beautiful, definitely going to be an up coming popular venue so snag your date quick!!
I can't say enough good about the staff, specifically Nancy. We had our wedding here and while there were some "unknowns" with the venue not being open to the public yet, Nancy and the staff made up for that uneasiness by communicating clearly, and making sure our wedding was a true experience for us and our guests. The venue is beautiful, even though it rained for the first half of the day, I wasn't worried at all because the place is pretty enough to take pictures anywhere. The food is outstanding, period. You can't go wrong. And the guests really enjoyed all of the fresh pastries and cake. We are local-ish and we still felt this was a resort experience. Highly recommend for events or for a getaway. Thank you St. Clair Inn staff!
