About this vendor
NOTE: Reservations for May 2026 open November 1, 2024.
The Stables at Hartwood Acres Park is the latest addition to Allegheny County Venues. Designed in the late 1920s by Alfred Hopkins to resemble an English Cotswold Village, The Stables at Hartwood were renovated in 2020-2021. The covered courtyard and authentic stables provide a perfect blend of indoor and outdoor event spaces.
Ivy-covered stone walls and the expansive green space provide a more bucolic setting than Hartwood mansion. Guests will be inspired by the charm of the equestrian facility that once boarded Mary Flinn Lawrence's beloved horses.
We can accommodate up to 100 guests for a seated luncheon or dinner in the courtyard, and the front lawn is ideal for wedding ceremonies.
The Stables at Hartwood is available for private events from May through October for full-day and half-day rentals.

I cannot recommend the Stables at Hartwood Acres enough. They made the booking process and wedding details very easy to manage, and they were able to answer questions that we had quickly as they came up. The staff were very helpful, especially when we had to switch to our rain plan and had to figure out a new seating chart. The venue itself is gorgeous and the pictures that we had from the wedding were breathtaking! This cost was also very affordable, which was an added bonus as well. Thank you to all of the staff at Hartwood Acres that helped to make our special day so perfect!
We got married at the Hartwood Acres Mansion and Pavilion on May 25. My husband grew up 5 minutes away from the venue, so this is a special place for us. The venue itself is a beautiful location surrounded by the mansion and pine trees.
Before getting into day of: This venue offers nothing except tables and standard chairs. Do not be fooled by the video they have online, none of that is available unless you find vendors. We thought it would be nice and cheaper to pick ourselves, but it def was a logistical nightmare, so know what you are getting in to.
However, we had a number of issues with our wedding at this venue. Firstly, the wedding coordinator on site in the morning was rude to my husband and other members of the family during set up and prior to the ceremony.
Due to this being an outdoor venue in Pittsburgh, there is a rain plan and a shine plan and Hartwood makes you choose which plan to proceed with 3 days prior to the wedding and there is no flexibility in changing the plan. The weather forecast 3 days ahead said no rain so we proceeded with the shine plan, but due to the ever changing weather in Pittsburgh we were hit with a huge thunderstorm 30 minutes before the start of our ceremony. Many of our decorations were ruined due to the rain and we eventually had to relocate our ceremony to under the pavilion. In addition, to the damage to our decor, the power at the venue went out during the storm and was not able to be restored the entire night leaving us without access to the sound system and lights under the pavilion. If it were not for our musician who brought his own bluetooth speaker, we would not have had any music for the ceremony or reception. The Hartwood staff were helpful to go out and purchase spotlights for when it began to get dark and bring in extra staff, but we still had to cut the reception short when the bluetooth speaker ran out of battery and no one could see in the bathrooms anymore since it was so dark and unsafe. I understand that weather is unpredictable and this was a really bad storm, but they seemed unprepared for rain despite being in Pittsburgh where this happens often and I think they should have a generator on hand in case something like this were to happen again. All we received from them was a card after the event, I just wish they had apologized for the circumstances or offered to compensate for damaged goods/inability to utilize the space fully.
Beautiful venue. The coordinators and staff at the venue were helpful for us and we had no issues. They did a great job setting everything up and making sure everything went smoothly on the day of.
The venue is stunning but Juliet the event coordinator is absolutely useless and knows nothing. I would talk to her about something via email, preparing for the day. And then day if she would forget what we discussed and throw a fit and complain to other vendors right in front of my face. Very immature and rude. She is a 0/10.
The Stables at Hartwood was the perfect location for our wedding day. We fell in love with its beautiful, unique setting on our first visit, and are so happy we chose this site for our special day.
Working with the Allegheny County staff from beginning to end was seamless, and they made sure we had everything we needed before and day of. Also, a big thank you to the county workers who were on site during the day.
The Stables was the perfect place to have our wedding. The old English architecture was exactly the atmosphere we wanted, and having the interior space to use for things like a cookie table, photo booth, and more was fantastic. Plus, the tented courtyard was perfect for our reception and helped put us at ease about being outdoors. All of the new landscaping improvements were gorgeous too, and made for a really lovely surprise.
We just had our dream wedding at The Stables and it was everything I imagined and then some! I can’t believe how beautiful the venue was, how clean and orderly every aspect of the property was, and the staff was incredible! They never hesitated to ensure we had what we needed, they were so kind when I had last minute changes, and truly did the most spectacular job. I can’t say enough great things!
I worked mostly with Kim as my venue coordinator at Hartwood, and she was prompt, friendly, and extremely helpful! We were very pleased with the price, the gorgeous mansion and outdoors location, and the staff! There was some construction going on when we first signed our contract, so we weren't able to tour it until a few months later, but we knew it would be in tip-top shape! By June 12, the formal garden and all the flowers around the terrace were blooming beautifully! The venue was so beautiful, all around. We loved having everything outdoors. Thankfully, they do have a tent to use in case it rains on your wedding day. I recommend Hartwood acres!
Our wedding was held at the Stables at Hartwood Acres and it was PERFECT. Such a beautiful and unique space. The grounds make you feel as though you've been transported into some type fairytale land! Will forever hold a special place in my heart!
The Stables at Hartwood is a dream venue! When we toured there last September, we were blown away by its historic charm. The Stables makes you feel like your in a different country which is exactly what we were looking for. We worked with different venue managers throughout the year and they were very helpful in answering any questions we had. Ellen, the new venue manager is amazing! She listens to you and had amazing insight on helping us turn this venue into a fairytale. Our day turned out exactly how we wanted it to and more! All our guests continue to tell us that the Stables was the nicest and coolest wedding venue they have ever been to! Best compliment ever!!
From our first venue tour to our wedding day, we had a fantastic experience working with staff at Hartwood Acres. The venue is breathtaking (we used the pavilion, terrace and garden). Our guests loved the setting and the walkability of our events. Shaunden and Sarah we’re so helpful the entire time! They helped us think through locations for the cocktail hour, ceremony and reception and setup an online diagram for us to review. They made all changes we requested and were so patient! Also their help with the table scape and coordinating certain vendor related tasks took so much stress off our plate! Shaunden facilitated our wedding rehearsal and was so accommodating! She had answers to all our questions and was just so helpful with last minute vendor needs. I can’t say enough about how awesome it was to work her and how much stress was taken off my plate. Thank you ladies for helping make our wedding so special and stress free!!!
Fell in love with the venue through pictures and they do them no justice, enchanted and romantic. Everything I was looking for and could ever imagine for our Mansion Affair!
Working with Sarah and Shaunden was an absolute dream. They are the sweetest girls and INCREDIBLY talented at what they do. They were quick to respond to any calls/emails, they provided solutions to all of our concerns, and they allowed us to complete multiple tours of the venue. Sarah and Shaunden also made contact with all of our vendors and worked to address their questions and concerns without having to involve us, saving us tons of time and worry! The venue is gorgeous and our pictures are breathtaking. I wanted a fairytale style wedding, and Hartwood Acres could not have been a more perfect venue to execute that vision in! I would definitely recommend Hartwood Acres for your ceremony and/or reception space. We couldn't have been happier with it!
Hartwood Acres was the perfect place for our wedding. I am so very happy with how everything turned out! The mansion is beautiful and hardly any decorations were needed because the building and the pavilion were wonderful. Alex, the Hartwood Acres wedding corrdinator, went above and beyond to make sure everything was organized and taken care of. She made diagrams of seating charts and where all our food tables and other vendors would be so we had the best understanding of how everything would look. They brought helpers to set up and help guests so that I had no worries the day of. All tear down was also taken care of! A bridal room was supplied and they were so flexible with the pictures we took inside the mansion. I cannot express how great they were and what a positive experience it was having our wedding at Hartwood Acres!
The venue itself was absolutely gorgeous, which is a big part of why I booked it (because I don't know how to decorate). I have seven sisters who have all been married, and they all agreed that my venue was the favorite. But the real winner was the on-site coordinator, Alex. She went above and beyond in every way and took care of pretty much everything on the wedding day so that I didn't have to think or worry about any of it. If you get warned that the ladies inside the mansion are very "particular" about things inside the mansion, listen to them. They take their job very seriously! I'm also told the parking was kind of confusing due to the placement of the signs. But I have zero regrets about booking Hartwood Acres.
This is an absolutely gorgeous place to have an outdoor wedding! Alex was very helpful in making our dream wedding come to life. I highly recommend hiring a wedding planner if you choose this venue since you bring in food, alcohol, flowers, speakers, water, electricity, etc. We had our ceremony in the Grand Pavilion, cocktails in the garden, and a tent for 265 on the front lawn complete with a band and catering tent. If you need a place to build your dream wedding for more people than most venues allow, this is a great place to do so. The mansion was an absolutely gorgeous backdrop for photos and looks just as nice lit up dramatically at night.
