I am so saddened to be writing this review. After over a year of planning my dream wedding. I did my best to make sure things ran smoothly. I secured contracts with whom I believed were reputable vendors, I checked in and communicated. I am not sure where things went wrong as Alexandra has not answered any of my calls or emails after telling me she would resolve the disaster of what was my wedding food.
Alexandra; the food you brought for my wedding on 10/1 at Magnolia Terrace was not a pasta bar with a variety of accrutments that you described and sold me that I have a contract for. You showed up one person short, leading to the venue staff (who we had to tip extra) and my friends and family having to bus and pack up dishes, and you ran out of food (chicken and salad) arguably by table 4, but I know you claim chicken through table 7, which is still unacceptable to "feed" 70 people in a 90 person event. I have an aunt at Table 1 who was told she couldn't take more than 1 scoop of salad, so you knew the whole time we were going to run out! How I wish you would have come to me or told my coordinator, I could have sent someone to Babes or for at least pizza, anything. Guests left my wedding to go to McDonalds. I have also since heard that food was uncovered before my ceremony began and you threw away the lids... I have also heard various excuses you shared with my friends and family. The guests of MY wedding. You blamed ME!? Seriously, how dare you? You and or your server were telling people various excuses including that I hadn't ordered enough or paid for enough food and that more people had "shown up" than expected? This is a bald face lie. I gave you 90 RSVP's and I never asked for a refund in paying for 100 people. I wanted to have a surplus, I wanted guests to get seconds, I brought tupperware and a cooler to take home leftovers for my honeymoon. Had you owned up to your shortcomings, this would be a completely different conversation. You were unprepared, understaffed and you did not bring enough food nor the food that was described to me. You were argumentative when I approached you, you said you would email me to rectify this. My wedding is now 3 months passed and I will resort to posting reviews and taking you to small claims court.
Alex brought quality ingredients to the sampling but decided to save herself $ by serving low quality food during the event. We felt lied to because we would not have chosen the stone plate if the sampling was on par with what we ate the day of the wedding. Unfortunately, all our guests agreed that the food was barely edible. We could barely cut through the steak, the texture of the roasted potatoes felt like leather and the green beans were straight out of a can. Basically the opposite of the sample we tried a few months prior. Aside from the food, the servers were ok but the bartenders had no clue what they were doing. They didn't even know what a Moscow mule was. I'm sure she'll come back with excuses but it was a serious let down.
I just want to be very honest with my experience and I think transparency is always the best choice. When we originally started our work together is was wonderful she worked with us so much and got to the price point we needed and everything was fabulous. Than we thought we had to cancel our wedding she tried to help us with finding a new venue and cater, when we decided not to go with her company she completely wrote us off even though our cake was already paid for and finished. I was so upset we couldn’t use her company that I recommended her to other brides prematurely. We were given no choice and the other vendor only allowed us to pick their cater. So in end result our wedding planner had to work for days to try and reach out and make sure we would get our cake after she stated multiple times we didn’t have an order and refused to email me back. Finally I guess she found our payment and delivered the cake.
The owner was awesome to work with. As advertised we were able to get a custom menu designed complimentary and an excellent price for the whole event. Communication was clear and super quick didnt seem to matter what time of day I had a question it was always immediately answered. Food was incredibly beautiful and every single guest we had thought the food was amazing as did we. Will absolutely use again!
As I read past reviews left for the Stone Plate, I am disappointed because I am not able to say that I had the same positive experience. Although, I honestly wish I did because this was such an important day, my daughter's wedding. We hired Megan, owner of The Stone Plate, 7 months before the event. She gave me the impression that she was fully qualified and experienced with catering weddings and she provided us with a contract stating she would provide sufficient food for 200 guests. On the day of the wedding, she arrived understaffed with only 2 servers. She also failed to provide sufficient food to feed 200 guests. We ran out of fajita meat and sides at approximately the 120th guest and chips and queso around the 70th guest. When this was happening, the owner did nothing to solve the problem. We had to send a guest to pick up food from Blue Goose to attempt to feed the remaining guests. To make matters worse, she did not fully clean the prep kitchen and take out her trash, both of which were posted responsibilities at our venue. Our wedding was on September 1st and I have spent the last 4 months communicating with the owner about the poor service and lack of food. She has shown me no interest in taking any responsibility for my complaints. My impression of The Stone Plate has drastically changed since the wedding. I would never recommend The Stone Plate, nor would I ever make the mistake of trusting The Stone Plate for another event.
