The Terrace On Grand

Kelsi. She is the sweetest and calmest person, and when it comes to weddings and nerves, that is exactly the type of person you need! Planning was soo easy. They took care of everything from linens, table set up, tear down, drinks, bartenders, and food. The only thing we had to bring was a DJ, flowers, and cake. They know exactly what they are doing and ask you all the right questions to get what you want. I had absolutely no troubles during my wedding day, everything was set up on time and as planned. The transition from rooftop ceremony to cocktail hour to dinner and dancing was seamless. All my wedding guests had nothing but positive reviews about their experience there. They said the bartenders were super nice and funny and the food was delicious! Some guests even said it was the best wedding they had ever attended! After the wedding day, picking up leftover flowers and cake was simple and straight forward. I cannot recommend Terrace on Grand enough! It is an absolute gem for a city wedding with spectacular rooftop views.

ing a venue while out of state was daunting but with everything that Terrace on Grand had to offer, booking with them was a no brainer! Decorations-wise, all we had to do was supply the flowers. TOG provided table cloths, napkins, chair covers, glassware, vases, easels, mirrors, a gorgeous piano for the cake, a projector....pretty much everything, and they set everything up for us and cleaned up everything. Kelsi was also more than willing to answer our questions over email or via webex during the planning process since we weren't local. The space turned out BEAUTIFULLY, the bartenders were so much fun (which isn't something I would normally consider to be important but our guests had so much fun dancing with them), and the food was *absolutely* to die for. (I'll admit, at the tasting I was underwhelmed which made me a little nervous, but day of it was some of the best food I've ever had, and it was plated beautifully. Every person ate their entire plate, it was so good). We chose the beef marsala (chef made it gluten free for us!) and the Paella (with and without shrimp to cater to our vegetarian guests). They were so helpful in accommodating to all dietary restrictions that we had! We opted for the plated dinner and I'm not kidding, all guests were given each course within 30 seconds of each other, not the typical sit-around-and-wait-for-the-entree-for-25-minutes-while-the-other-tables-eat that I've experienced at other weddings. It was incredible. Our guests LOVED the rooftop and I loved being able to have that extra space for our guests if they wanted some fresh air in between dancing or just to take pictures and enjoy the view. Kelsi also catered so well to the bridal party- during horderves we were hanging out on the 2nd floor to escape the heat and without hesitation she brought us all waters and a tray of the horderves to keep us fed. She was absolutely amazing. I will recommend this venue to anyone and everyone who gets married in downtown KC because there is no better place, I promise you. Initially we had been looking at venues that were way out of our budget (we have very expensive taste lol) and I was worried this venue wouldn't be fancy enough or live up to our expectations. I couldn't have been more wrong. Everything was stunning, and I wish I could do it all over again! 10/10!!

anted to check them out because we wanted to have our ceremony on a rooftop, and when we saw their beautiful space and found out that they have an almost all inclusive package and do almost everything, we knew we had to book them. When we decided to postpone a year due to COVID, Heather was very understanding and made it so easy to change our date. We originally booked an April wedding because that has been our anniversary for so long, and when we changed, we were anticipating having to change that. We got so lucky that they had an opening on what would be the same weekend as our original date! When we picked back up the planning after the delay, Kelsi was extremely helpful and just a delightful person. She was always quick to respond to questions and it was easy to schedule walkthroughs and our final meeting. The day of went so smoothly because of Kelsi and TOG's amazing and attentive staff. The decorations were gorgeous, the food was delicious, and our special day was amazing. I want to mention that the Record Bar is right below the venue, and there was a, I believe, metal show that night. I think they did a mic check before any guests arrived that you could hear in the reception space, but during our ceremony on the roof, they were either done (Heather mentioned they work with the Record Bar with timing of TOG events and RB shows) or we were far enough up because you could not hear any of it. And then they played their show during our reception, but with our music on, you could not hear it. The only reason we knew there was a concert happening below us is because we heard it when we were leaving at the end of the night.

t. I worked with Heather & her daughter Kelsi when planning my wedding. Kelsi tries hard, seems to want to do a good job, but maybe didn’t have the support or staff to get everything done in time for my 5:30pm wedding. Working with Heather was awful. She appears to be kind/care, but she doesn't. She made promises that sold us on the venue but didn’t have the time/energy to make them happen. It got worse when my wedding was postponed bc the mayor shut the city back down 2 weeks before our original date. Heather was pushy for me to stay with my original date even though it would've cost the same, guest were dropping like flies, guests would have to remain in their seats for the entire event,& I wasn’t allowed to have a dance floor. When I postponed, she treated me like I was a huge annoyance to her. Many simple things were not executed on my day. The few staff they had weren’t able to get it done& I truly don’t think Heather showed up until right before the ceremony. I was around the venue the entire day& I never saw her until right before the ceremony. Some forgotten things include- -Not enough chairs for the ceremony-guests including my FAMILY had to stand -staff took my champagne for my bridal party while getting ready& insisted on putting it in the refrigerator, then refused to give it to us while getting ready because the staff was too busy -forgot my guest blankets for cold rooftop wedding -forgot programs -didn't use my arbor decor -said they would flip the rooftop to cocktail style after the ceremony but didn’t -didn’t have enough staff for bars/servers (didn't have enough staff to begin with, but tried to tell me they all left early because a few guests weren’t being complaint with their masks)*many of their staff were wearing their masks way under their nose so that is hard to believe -paid for top shelf for Grey Goose(heather confirmed it would be served)but then just served whatever cheaper alcohol she wanted -didn’t have our last dance -after sparkler send off-Heather literally locked the doors behind us while all of our bridal party’s personal belongings(cell phones/purses) were still in the bridal suite& told us to come back for them on Tuesday It did rain the morning of my wedding, but it cleared off early. This shouldn't be a huge setback for a rooftop wedding venue that is used to weather. When I emailed Heather after my wedding day wanting some answers, she was not kind. I feel like she was being a protective mom since her daughter oversaw my day. It didn’t feel fair to me, bc I don’t care if they are related, I paid 1000s of dollars for my wedding& they let me down. When Heather returned my email, she made crazy accusations that are embarrassing to even say. She made up lies that my guests were so non-compliant that things couldn’t get done, &that my bridal party had clogged their toilets so bad there was no time to get my ceremony ready. She said she “she stuck her hand in poop for me so that my event could go on”. Their venue isn't huge, if any of this would have happened, I would have been aware. She took no responsibility My advice if you choose this venue is to hire an outside wedding planner that can make sure they get things done. They discourage you from doing that & say it is included, but that is my biggest regret.
