The most classic, Rhode Island venue with beautiful aesthetics that require minimal decorations due to the gorgeous ambiance from the exposed brick, twinkling lights and ocean out the window. We had 155 guests, which is on the maximum of capacity. For folks thinking of doing this, keep mind that with the caterer we needed to find a company that could accommodate our size as some were tentative, rent a tent for extra space for all the prep work and have passed beverages. We booked Blackstone (see my review for them, another 5 STAR vendor).
We loved having our ceremony and reception at The Towers. The team there made everything easy and clear for us. It was such a unique venue and a fun attraction for our guests. Narragansett is such a great place to visit in general, so there was plenty to do for our guests before and after our wedding.
The Towers was absolutely lovely for our wedding. We held our ceremony off-site and did not use "getting ready" accommodations, but the suite was perfect for a quick reset in between and for leaving our belongings. Cocktail hour was held outside and our guests loved the ocean views (be aware that we did have an hors d'oeuvres crasher). Inside, the atmosphere was intimate and unique. Between the stone, hanging lights, ocean views and flowers, we did not really need any extra decor. The layout was perfect for 125 - 13 guest tables and a sweetheart table. We felt the space both while seated and on the dancefloor was full but not bursting, and there was enough room for a photobooth as well. Easy to sit older/more noise sensitive guests away from the crowd. We did not purchase uplighting and have not seen pictures yet so cannot speak to that. The venue was the perfect temperature and guests loved being able to use the porch. Our other vendors (who have frequently worked at The Towers before) seemed to have an easy experience with their staff. Donna communicated adequately with us. It is a little unfortunate that the night had to end around 9:45 with a 5pm cocktail hour start, but better to end earlier on a high note I suppose than guests getting bored. Easy transition to Coast Guard House for afterparty.
Great Place to host a Reception or Get Married it’s a big DYI wedding concept which was perfect for me as I love to decorate!
An absolutely beautiful wedding venue. Donna was very knowledgable and professional, helping us every step of the way. The venue is so beautiful that you really don't need to spend much on decorations, which is definitely a bonus, and the price is a STEAL for the location and quality. It was the perfect space for our wedding of 60 people, but it could easily fit more.
The Towers were absolutely beautiful inside and out. Donna was communicative and easy to work with. We received so many compliments on the space. The historic charm of the building allowed us to save money on decorations and simply enjoy the architecture of the building.
My dream wedding come true! What a unique, picturesque, magical venue this was. The views from upstairs in the towers are outstanding. Cocktail hour in the courtyard was also great - we were worried about being close to the road with cars and people going by but to be honest we were so involved with our food, music, and guests that we didn't even notice it! There was also a summer concert going on in the green across the road but it didn't interfere at all, besides making parking for our valet a bit trickier.
A couple things to note about the Towers -
1. It is kind of a DIY venue - you rent the venue itself for the night along with tables and chairs, and that's about it. Everything else you must outsource - catering, decor, coordinator, etc. The Towers does have some staff helping out with clean up at night. Donna was very helpful and organized in planning and knows every vendor in the area. All of our local vendors were familiar with the Towers too so planning and coordinating really wasn't bad.
2. There is no AC. We lucked out with a cool, not too humid summer night, so with the windows open and ceiling fans going we were just fine.
3. There is no private parking. We hired a valet service (highly recommend), told guests staying at Aqua Blue hotel to park there and walk over, otherwise guests have to try to find street parking which can be difficult on a summer evening.
4. The space may look tight, but it fit our 100 person wedding with bar, DJ, photo booth, champagne wall, and coffee/dessert vendors just fine! The dance floor is a great size, and the outside deck really extends the venue as well.
If you really want to WOW your guests - book the Towers for your wedding, there really is no place like it!!! Thank you to Donna & everyone at the Towers for a perfect wedding reception!
The Towers was the perfect place for our winter wedding this past December. They were amazing with organization and it was a very reasonable price for off-season. The space is gorgeous and barely needs any extra decorating. The views are also spectacular of the ocean! Highly recommend to anyone!
The Towers is a gorgeous reception location! Our reception was truly fantastic but I will give the almost all of the credit to our caterer (we used Pranzi). Communication with The Towers wasn't great, e-mails were responded to with only one answer when multiple questions were asked. Be prepared that this venue is not a "whatever the bride and groom want they get" type of venue. They have their rules and are very strict with them. We had some issues with the seating chart, we were seating 128 guests and wanted 14 tables. Donna tried to insist that we seat everyone at 13 tables, despite the fact that we would be splitting families and sacrificing guest comfort to make that happen. I was firm and she gave up. In this same phone call, she tried to tell me the prices for the tables and chairs had changed since we signed our contract. We had to return our own table/chair count/invoice because we weren't sent one. Again, I was very firm on paying the price we were originally quoted and never heard about it again. We received our deposit back and had no issues getting into the venue etc. We didn't have an issue with the attendants, they were very nice and helpful. I think had we not used Pranzi, I would have had a one or two-star experience with The Towers. I wouldn't change a thing about our reception, it was beautiful. But be prepared to be extremely organized, prepared, and firm when having your event here. ALSO, we realized about 2 weeks before the wedding that we definitely needed uplighting for our photos/video to look their best. It's pretty dark in there without it and are so happy we did it afterwards!
So dissapointed. The Towers were an easy choice based on the building's beauty, views, and the fact that I grew up in Narragansett, but everything they were responsible for went wrong.
Be VERY aware that you do not have a coordinator or ANY help from Towers staff that day. I knew this but was still amazed at how badly they did their job.
Most importantly, they messed up our timeline and kicked us out early. On the most important day of our lives, we lost almost any hour of dancing and spending time with friends and family. I intentionally paid for extra time knowing we would need it - a fee to the Towers, as well as fees to the band, caterer, and other vendors. Donna admitted guilt via email of the employees mistake and refunded us a measly $300 fee - but when we explained all the other extra money we paid, they started to change their story and try to blame it on us. Our coordinator Donna brings up what beautiful weather we had that day every time we call - not going to help. The board meeting she promises to discuss our issue at has also been "rescheduled" several times for months now.
In addition to kicking us out early, the attendants were half an hour late to let me in - which meant I stood on the side of the road in my dress in 80 degree heat praying my makeup didn't melt and my fiancé didn't show up early for the first look. They cut the bar 20 minutes early - saying that it opened early - yet I have footage of me walking down the aisle 10 minutes AFTER the time they stated the bar opened.. and I also paid a fee for it to start at a specific time, which was clearly ignored. I never met the attendants personally (also a problem!), but I had several guests and family members the next day tell me how rude they were, even when answering simple questions like about the location of the bathroom. They also "lost" my bathroom baskets - it is the attendants responsibility to move them at the end of the night, but by the next morning they were "missing.." $100+ of items. The planning process was equally frustrating, I once sent Donna the same email every Monday in January 4 weeks in a row before I got a response - but I was leery to speak on the phone, as I often got different answers to the same question.
The beauty of the location is not worth the stress both before and after, as well as the heartache I've had to deal with for the time lost that day.
The Towers are absolutely beautiful and anyone looking for a whimsical wedding atmosphere will not be disappointed. This venue is not a traditional wedding venue, and brides will have to do a little bit more work than they would have to at other venues (meaning you have to find you own vendors for food and pay for tables and chairs separately etc.) but it is worth it! The list of preferred vendors isn't even necessary, The Towers should just say they work with Emery's Catering and call it good. Terry was our point of contact during our event at The Towers and wow is she awesome! She made sure that I was calm and cool and had everything in on time to make our event possible. And not to mention our photos are AMAZING (Mercedes Baker Photography)
Living locally, it did not dawn on us until we attended a wedding that the Towers would be the perfect venue for us. From the very beginning, they were wonderful to work with and very accommodating. As we got closer, they allowed me to come in and take another peek around, worked with me on the table charts and seating arrangements and allowed me to drop off decor prior to the event. This building has so much history and character, it was a magical backdrop for our December wedding. Plus, we got lucky with fireworks and a tree lighting too! All of our guests raved over the beauty inside and the backdrop outside. It was exactly what I envisioned and such a special way to tie the knot in your hometown. Thank you Towers, it was everything we wanted and more!
My husband and I chose The Towers to host our 10/7/2018 wedding because it was everything we were looking for in a venue. It was beautiful, historic, rustic, ocean side, and affordable.
We worked with Donna DiCicco who was incredibly nice and easy to work with. The two assistants that were there the day of were also nice and friendly.
Our approximately 110 guests fit comfortably in the hall without any space issues. The hall was incredibly clean and everything was in working order.
The on street parking did not pose any issues at all either.
I hope this all helps in your selection of a venue!
The Towers is an amazing place for a wedding reception. We had a church ceremony and held our reception from 5-10pm on a Friday. Along with renting the Towers itself, you have to rent your tables and chairs through them as well. The pricing they have compared to other rental companies was very fair and they give you a lengthy list of caterers to chose from. We went with Emery's catering and it was the best decision we made. Everyone complimented us on the foot the entire night. We communicated with Donna from the Towers and through the whole process she was very sweet and helpful. She answered every question we had in a timely fashion. We are so happy that we held our wedding reception here, it truly was the best day of our lives and now every time we drive by the Towers we will remember the wonderful evening we had there.
Everything is just GORGEOUS there, especially at sunset. Donna and Kate and their staff are fantastic to work with too. WARNING: they are owned by the town, so they have a lot of rules about how long the bar can be open and how early the DJ must stop (10PM end, even if you get the venue till 10:30. And the bar shuts at 9 I believe. So heads up on that!)
Beautiful location and Kate and Donna were very good with communication and responsiveness!
The Towers is a great venue with very efficient and helpful staff. We had our rehearsal dinner there, around 50 people. Kate was very helpful in working with our florist / caterer / etc. ahead of time and was even there at the event to assist if necessary. The venue is beautiful, a great way to show off Narragansett and the ocean to out of town guests. Highly recommend.
We LOVED the Towers! And we LOVED Kate!
Kate was super helpful through the entire process, and was excellent at helping us make the event perfect. She was up front and clear about the rules of the venue (and every place has rules...so reviews about the Towers being strict about them seem odd), and recommended options for a smooth reception. We had the cocktail hour outside which was lovely. The dance floor is HUGE and not a separate floor which was great.
The thing I love the most about the Towers is that it is different from other cookie cutter venues, and it is gorgeous on by itself, so you don't need to do a ton in terms of decorating. Our guests loved the place and we were thrilled to have it there!
What an absolute gorgeous place for a wedding reception. Our guests from RI were equally impressed as our guests from out of town. I also recommend using West Bay Gourmet for catering, as their food is fabulous, and they do a ton of weddings at The Towers.
We booked The Towers over a year in advance, and Kate and Donna were fantastic to work with from start to finish. They were pleasant and helpful at every turn, and the venue is truly magical. I highly recommend doing the cocktail hour on the courtyard, it was one of my favorite parts of the wedding. Also, the balcony overlooking the town beach was a great place to take a break and take in the views, and fireworks from Newport as the wedding was on July 3rd. The acoustics lend themselves well to having a live band. We had our ceremony in the tower facing the Town Beach, and it is certainly a memory that will last a lifetime for us. Again, The Towers was the PERFECT place for our destination wedding! Thank you Donna and Kate for making this such an easy process and such a memerable experience!
We had our wedding at The Towers, and it was perfect. Their are some rules that they are very strict about. Definitely make sure you understand and are ok with their alcohol policy ( must be open bar, can only serve for a certain amount of time, once first drinks are served, you are on the clock) . Also keep in mind that tables and chairs must be rented through them. If you have your ceremony at the gazebo, you have to rent your chairs through a certain company. Their were three women that we dealt with throughout the process. Two of them were very nice, and one of them, words don't do her justice on how rude she is. Ask around and the same name comes up. She is absolutely miserable and is very rude. Even vendors warned us about her. She is the reason I gave it 4 stars and and not 5. The venue itself is beautiful, and the gazebo was great for our ceremony. We would do it all over again, even though they (she) can make it almost not worth it
I recently had my wedding at The Towers and the venue is truly stunning and photographs very well. From the ocean views, to the stone walls and 360 degree windows, it is truly magnificent. I'd give the venue 5*, but I have to say, working with The Tower coordinators was pretty disappointing. We chose our venue in October 2014 and got married May 2016 - needless to say, we had a TON of time to plan and was obviously in communication with The Towers coordinators during this time frame. From the start throughout my wedding planning, they were very slow to respond and when they did, they were not very professional. I was warned about them before I even booked from friends who had their weddings there, but was told the venue is so beautiful that it honestly outweighs the cons of the coordinators, which is 100% true! A week and a half before my wedding, they called to tell me that my ceremony spot (the gazebo on the lawn) was now under construction and that I should be warned that my ceremony location will likely need to change to the courtyard (where my cocktail hour was scheduled to be, which cannot fit 100+ chairs for my guests). I asked them why and they said they were replacing some of the floor boards and they were rotted so need to re-do the entire thing and that it probably won't be ready so I should just cancel my vendor for my ceremony chairs (which I had already paid for). I don't think I would've been as frustrated if they showed any sympathy regarding the situation. They spoke to me matter-of-factly and didn't care that my ceremony location was all screwed up and didn't try to make it better at all or offer a reasonable solution. My husband & I communicated our displeasure over the course of a week following the news and the gazebo was fixed right in time (thankfully), but if we hadn't made a big deal about it, who knows if it would've been fixed. I felt awful for all of the other brides that would have to deal with the same nonsense so I am glad none for them had to deal with this issue. On my wedding day, not one of the coordinators came up to me or said anything which I found to be quite odd... you'd think they'd tell you "congratulations" or "if you need anything at all, please let us know". My mother & sister dropped decor off in the morning and said the coordinators were nice and helpful, unfortunately I didn't see that on my wedding day. There were a few other issues that happened involving an accident where a beer bottle fell off the balcony ledge and hit a man's windshield causing it to crack - the coordinators called me during my honeymoon to tell me that their keeping my deposit - who discloses this information while the couple is honeymooning? Either way, their communication is poor and I just want to warn all future brides. The venue is simply amazing and we had the greatest wedding day, but don't expect much from your coordinators.
Couldn't be happier with our choice of venue. The Towers are absolutely picturesque. We had 105 total at our wedding and there was plenty of room for our crazy dancing friends on the dance floor.
My husband and I cannot thank The Towers enough for their amazing team! Planning a wedding from Florida can be a little stressful, but Kate and Donna were such a delight to work with from 1,000 miles away. They are very professional, helpful and accommodating in making sure our wedding was a memorable day. The historic venue was exactly what I had invasion for our wedding day, and certainly blessed we were able to share it with our guests. The Towers is a beautiful location and reasonable priced for any occasion. My husband and I highly recommend The Towers of Narragansett! Thank you, Kate and Donna, for all the great memories!
I was most disappointed with the staff at the towers on my wedding day. I was told months in advance that we would be able to go in the morning of my wedding between 8AM-10AM to set up decor. This was not the case. A couple days before the wedding I wanted to double check that we were all good for the morning of and was told we couldn't come until 9AM and that was only to hang things. The staff were very rude to me, treated me like I was stupid because I wanted to set out my own decor since I had a lot of stuff. I was told no I couldn't and that I would have to leave it all there on the floor for the caterers to set out since the caterers provide the linens. The guy setting up my tables that morning was also extremely rude to me, and argued with me about the table set up saying that he didn't have an updated floorplan and insinuated that it was my fault. Well little did he know, I actually saw the floor plan that he had sitting out on one of the tables and it was the correct floor plan, and he was just being a jerk to be a jerk. Had I not been there that morning my tables would have been set up incorrectly. Kate and Donna both acted like I was being dramatic, because I wanted to set up my decor that morning and not leave it up to the catering crew to do it. I'm sorry but 2 hours for set up(which is only for the caterers unless you have a wedding planner) is not enough time especially when it falls into the time of me getting ready and during my ceremony. For $2200 just for the rental of of the towers, not including tables and chairs, you can find a better place and more professional staff to deal with. The chairs were all beat up looking anyways. I do not recommend this venue to anyone. I cried on my wedding day because of the rudeness of the staff. Beware!
Without a doubt, this venue made our wedding day truly spectacular and impressed guests from near and far! Our day would not have been the same without this beautiful building and it’s breathtaking views. It was like a fairytale.
I think other reviews capture this venue well. The location and ambiance is 5+ stars. The price is also very affordable, particularly for the area. The only things to consider before booking are these: (1) the venue is very DIY – you must coordinate a caterer, a florist, a DJ, rentals, cake, etc. on your own. They provide a couple of staff on the day-of to watch the door, but other than that, there are no day-of venue coordinators. Because of this, there is a lot of work involved when planning your wedding here. That being said, if you are organized and up for the challenge of planning everything (or have room in your budget for a coordinator), this is such a spectacular place to have a reception. Find a good caterer who will help you and who knows the venue (I recommend WBG) and you will be fine :) (2) Costs may also be a bit deceiving, because although the rental price is low, everything else will add up…every fork, knife, table cloth, chair... but if you shop around and buy some of your own things, you will be ok (3) Kate Vivian coordinates events for the Towers (she doesn’t run the events, but will meet with you ahead of time to give you tour, discuss some details, manage your payments, etc). Kate is very pleasant, though she still does everything on paper so at times is disorganized (she once forgot about our meeting and we also had to fill out our basic information a couple of times because her paper notes were elsewhere). That being said, she was almost always responsive to my emails and she knows the drill. (4) The Towers is owned by the town, and because of that, has some strange rules: only 4.5 hours of alcohol service (so we had to stop serving 1 hour before our event ended), open bar only (i.e. no cash transfer allowed), and music must stop 30 minutes before your event is over (this is not including the clean-up time for the event).
All in all, I would highly recommend the Towers to anyone looking for a breathtaking wedding, so long as you understand some of the challenges that go along with the venue :) It is a perfect setting and your guests will probably declare it to be one of their favorite weddings of all time :)
Amazing venue! The staff was amazing.
You can't get any better when it comes to Narragansett!
The Towers was the PERFECT venue and impressed all of our guests. I couldn't have been more happy with The Towers - it was beautiful, historical, and very New England. Having it right on the ocean ensured a gorgeous backdrop, no matter the weather.
DO NOT USE THIS VENUE!! My wedding date was double booked, I had to change my date and fight for a concession. The coordinator, Kate, has no superior and the committee in charge of the venue is extremely hard to get a hold of. Not only did I have to change my original date, but then I get an email stating she cancelled my new date based on rumors from another vendor. She never contacted me or my fiancé about these rumors. She is spiteful and unprofessional and has ruined my special day.
This Venue is absolutely gorgeous! Perfect for our winter wedding. We had the ceremony indoors followed by the reception. All of our guests didn't stop telling us how beautiful it was. The price to rent the venue is reasonable, but they require you to rent tables and chairs from them which cost is an additional 700 dollars, also another thing to think about is they require you to have an open bar. So the cost adds up quickly. But overall I would do it all over again!
Beautiful venue but for all the summer weddings, please note...no AC!
I had my wedding at the Towers June 2013. I wanted to have my reception by the ocean and loved the feel of this place- exposed beams, earthy feel. The venue is so pretty and unique that you really need minimal decor inside which greatly helps with your budget. It looked great on the wedding day and everything went very smoothly. It was by far the best value I found and I toured 20+ different wedding sites in Rhode Island. The only downsides were that it can be a bit challenging to communicate with Kate/Donna. They don't respond to emails very regularly but are very good about calling you back. The other downside is that it is town owned so they have little control over renovations, etc. They were re-doing the roof at the time of our reception and were mostly done. They had told me it would be totally done but given the wet spring they were delayed. They were very matter of fact about it but they did a good job of having a clean work site without any scaffolding, etc so most guests didn't even notice.
The Towers was absolutely the perfect venue for our wedding!!! The staff was very professional and the night ran so smoothly.
Kate at the Towers was just a delight. She was very helpful and you can tell she's been doing it for a long time! Everything at my wedding went off without a hitch! The space is great because you can do just about anything with it. The downside is that my husband wanted to have a cigar rolling guy and smoke on the deck with his buddies. The Towers has very strict rule around anything with a flame so we could not do that or let the Chinese Lantern go from the deck. :( We did not know about that until months after we booked the Towers. THe other issue is the fact there is no airconditioning at all. Our wedding, while at night, was very hot...there was not much breeeze coming through the windows. Everyone had a great time, but most were stationed out on the deck to cool off for a good bit of the night. It just makes it a little uncomfortable for guests who are sweating to death and causes a good number of your guests to be on the side of the room with the deck.
It was wonderful using the Towers for both our Wedding Ceremony and Reception. Besides the Towers having a special place in our hearts (it's where he proposed!) we were able to work with kind and generous people like Kate Vivian to make sure our Wedding was everything we wanted it to be. Besides being located right near the beautiful Narragansett Beach, the Historic Towers as a venue were spectacularly beautiful with ocean views from a balcony, shimmering lights on the ceiling and stone walls. We did very little decor other than our tables, and it looked magical! We recommend it for a very special, romantic wedding.
The Towers is a beautful place to get married. The room and view are both spectacular and I couldn't have asked for more as far as that is concerned. We had 108 people at the wedding and fit in the room perfectly. They tell you up to 180 can fit comfortably but I just don't see how that is even possible. Especially when you are allowed only 4 72" round tables. Kate, who is in charge of the Towers made the planning process extremely difficult. She never responded to any of my calls or emails. She misplaced checks I sent her and didn't find them until two months later. She gave us an outdated contract and didn't tell us this until 2 weeks before the wedding so all of the prices she gave us were wrong and we wound up paying more than we planned to. If you plan on getting married at the Towers during the summer I suggest finding somewhere else as there is no air conditioning so the room is very hot.
The Towers are an icon of the Narragansett area and it was so special to have the space available for our celebration. Very convenient to have the ceremony, with the ocean in the background, and the cocktail hour and reception all in the same space. We had an intimate celebration (less than 40) and have also attended a larger party there- the space served both very well. Only issue was that there was some delay sometimes when trying to get in touch with the people who worked there- but all was resolved and in a timely manner.
We couldn't have been happier with the venue, the staff the day of were really helpful and made everything go smoothly and everyone commented on how lovely the venue was. My only complaint is that the scheduling coordinator is a bit flighty but everything got done on time in the end.
the towers was fantastic! the setting was gorgeous and many of our guests had travelled from out of town, so they were just taken aback by the gorgeous and unique atmosphere the towers provides.
Our wedding was in june, and I wasn't expecting it to be too hot (the towers does not have AC) but that night happened to be quite warm... so that is one complaint that our guests had was that it was hot in there.
But besides that, it was perfect! And it's great that it's a blank canvas so you can bring in whatever you want, and really personalize the venue. Definitely recommend it!
We had our wedding at the Towers July 2010, reception upstairs, the ceremony outside by the fountain. The Towers is a landmark, I really don't think you can ever go wrong when you use a place that has so much history and beauty as the backdrop for your event. We are from CT and had most of our family coming from as far as CA and IL, so it was important for them to be coming to a special place they could make a vacation out of. The Towers fit that bill with the nearby beaches, the stunning architecture, and the close proximity to TF Green airport. Our guests were amazed, my uncles spent most of the reception out on the balcony just taking in the view!
The staff was great, Kate Vivian seemed to have a difficult time with some of our paperwork, but she was quite flexible with the time we had for set up and our vendors. It was a bit hot upstairs with no AC, but you could escape the heat if you needed to by going out on the deck, there is always a shore breeze! The bridal suite had the ac cranking and beautiful antique furniture. Our pictures are stunning, and everyone is still talking about how beautiful it was. I really don't think you can find a venue that is more beautiful, with such proximity to the ocean, in this price range. They also allow you to choose your own caterers, which can help greatly with keeping the budget in check!
Bottom line: if I had it all to do over again, we would still have it at the Towers!
The cost was low and the view was amazing. Very easy set up and easy on the catering staff. Everyone loved the site for our reception.;You have to rent everything; tables, chairs, linens, catering. It's worth it though
