The Vault was the perfect venue for our wedding! We would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a stunning space right in the heart of downtown Columbus. Situated in the newly-revived Gay Street corridor among numerous restaurants and bars... and right by the Residence Inn and Renaissance Hotel, it provided our guests with a convenient way to walk to and from our wedding and to experience the vibe of the city.
The space speaks for itself with a stunning high ceiling, beautiful ambient lighting, grandiose chandelier, towering windows, and a historic bank vault. You won't need to incur a lot of additional decorating costs with the space already being impressive.
Bentley was wonderful to work with. He was prompt, attentive, knowledgeable, and accommodating. Bentley worked hand-in-hand with our vendors to ensure the best floorplan, ceremony, and experience for our big day. Bentley met with us numerous times to pin down every last detail and even ensured that we had ample access to the space to decorate and even allowed us to store items at the venue. His team treated our guests with exceptional professionalism and ensured everyone had what they needed... all the way down to a well-run open bar for 200 guests and a parking attendant.
We would recommend The Vault without reservation.
The Vault was a beautiful venue for our wedding, and all of our guests loved it. Bar service was excellent and Bently was accommodating to our requests. The bathrooms were a bit dingy, otherwise this would be a 5-star experience.
Contacted asking about pricing and details. After thanking them and letting them know The Vault would be out of our price range, Bentley responded rudely implying that we didn't know where to look for the right venue. Would not recommend working with this venue - very unprofessional.
Wonderful experience with the Vault! Bentley is great to work with - very responsive and answered all my questions promptly. We even had our dog walk down the aisle! The ambiance is amazing and the vault itself was a big hit 😊
The Vault was the perfect venue for our wedding, you cannot beat the downtown location! We received several compliments about the beautiful high ceilings, chandeliers, and the historic charm of the vault itself. Bentley and his staff were great through every step of the process! 100% recommend!
The best venue!
The vault was great through our pandemic wedding
Our guests raved about how nice the venue was! It’s very beautiful and affordable. The grand staircase makes for a very cool bridal party entrance. The chandelier and historic bank vault make the space feel very grand and expensive. The space is huge and fit our 150 guests perfectly.
You can’t beat the location - it’s next to several hotels and my guests LOVED that it was in the same building as Pub Mahone. The street was lively during the night of our wedding. Guests felt safe walking down the street to the Renaissance hotel where we had a block.
Bentley, the vault manager is a really personable guy who cares about his couples. He was very transparent with his pricing and didn’t try to stick us after rescheduling due to the pandemic. He was flexible with what we wanted - we added white claws to our drink package and he bought all the ingredients for the special cocktails we wanted. He was responsive to our questions and we really enjoyed working with him.
When our original venue went bankrupt, Bentley from the Vault came to our rescue. Within 48 hours of losing our first venue and deposit, we had a new venue at an even better price. Bentley is willing to work with you and any set up that you wish. It was a pleasure to talk through details and hear all of his crazy stories! He even was able to connect us with a new caterer too! The venue itself is such a unique place, and we and our guests had an amazing time during our ceremony and reception!
Bentley and his staff were incredibly wonderful to work with! So accommodating and helpful! It is a unique venue with old-fashioned charm. My daughter and son-in-law couldn’t have been happier with their reception venue choice.
I just had my wedding at the Vault and I highly recommend it! Bentley was very easy to work with and answered all my questions promptly. The venue is very beautiful and allows you to put your own spin on the venue to make your wedding uniquely you.
Venue was absolutely amazing & beautiful. Bentley was great to work with and very helpful and understanding throughout planning during a pandemic. Also, it’s really pretty. In case that wasn’t clear.
I would absolutely recommend The Vault for your wedding reception! It is a beautiful, historic space and Bentley was really great to work with! He was very accommodating and accessible for any questions/concerns we had!
DO NOT GO HERE. Owners is rude and racist. Made many comments about how awful Muslim weddings are and how he hopes to be booked so he doesn’t have to “deal with that again”. He bragged about money he spent on the place every chance he got. Owner talked many times about past weddings and what they did wrong as well as how awful the mothers are. It’s a shame as it’s a very pretty venue
Had our ceremony and reception at the Vault and it could not have gone better. It is conveniently located withing walking distance of multiple hotels for out of town guests. We looked at 10-15 venues and The Vault gave us the most flexibility by far with the alcohol packages and being able to choose all your own vendors. Our guests loved the bartenders. They were hilarious and made sure we had the best party imaginable. If we had to do it all over again we'd still choose the Vault!
GREAT EXPERIENCE. From the initial tour of the venue, to the last day of clean-up: we had a wonderful experience with the Vault.
They made us feel like a real couple having a wedding, not just another check for them to cash. Bentley (the owner) really took care of us. He worked with our schedule, budget, timelines, EVERYTHING!
He and Stevie were very prompt in responding to emails and very helpful with scheduling additional showings (I think we came to "just take a look" 5 or 6 times after booking it!) Bentley is not your typical salesman trying to get his venue booked. He really listens to you. He works to be flexible and accommodating: whether it's budget or schedule or additions to ceremony/receptions. And he's a fun person to chat with :)
Our guests LOVED the overall appearance and ambiance of the Vault. We're still getting compliments. I've heard "the most beautiful wedding I think I've ever been to" more times than I can count! I decorated the tables and had large vases with greenery, but there really is no additional decorating that was needed. Once you step inside, the venue speaks for itself. My husband took one look and said "Whoa, this is pretty cool" so I knew we found the one! (Haha) It's the classic, vintage, sophisticated vibe, without all the "sophisticated" prices. It honestly looks like a VERY expensive venue, but truly it is NOT a budget-breaker!
Prices are very reasonable for downtown. I challenge you to compare the Vault to other venues of that style and see who has the better deal. Didn't take us long to land on the Vault for, not only it's beauty, but the bang you get for your buck is REALLY a game changer.
The location offers huge conveniences: the Residence Inn literally right across the street, Pub Mahone next door (great for the after-party!), and convenient parking for guests that live in town. The area (and Short North, Arena District) is a great spot to show off to your out of town guests! I know our guests certainly appreciated being near great restaurants/bars.
If I had ONE THING that I want to leave you with, it's knowing that the overall feeling of welcome and fantastic hospitality the Vault provides makes the whole day great and a decision you won't regret!
I had a horrible experience with The Vault. Full disclosure, I did not have my reception there, but would NEVER consider The Vault. I am planning my wedding from the east coast and had been corresponding with Stevie to set up an appointment to tour the venue. We set a time and date for a week I would be in Ohio. We drove an hour and a half from Dayton, and nobody was there! The facility was unlocked, so we walked around to look for someone. We spent 30 minutes searching for someone in the venue, but there was not a single person there. I checked my email to make sure we had the correct time and date, and to see if there was a number to contact Stevie. Our appointment time was correct, but Stevie did not leave any contact information. We then called the owner several times, with no answer. We left a message on the answering machine. We did not hear from them for days, not with a new appointment, an apology, or even an acknowledgement that they received my voicemail. Three or four days after our missed appointment, I finally sent an email to Stevie telling her that we were no longer considering The Vault. I then received some very defensive emails from the owner giving me excuses as to why my message was never returned. Supposedly, my voicemail was transcribed incorrectly and both my name and number weren't transcribed correctly. Ok fine, if the transcription was difficult to understand, why can't you go back and listen to the original voicemail? Furthermore, there was a clear email chain (which I forwarded to the owner) which had the time and date of our appointment. There was a lot of back and forth, and honestly, he did not even seem apologetic. He was argumentative and defensive. We wasted our time driving an hour and half each way in the rain and traffic. If this is how they behave with a potential client, then I would absolutely not want anyone who is defensive and rude to be dealing with my wedding.
My husband and I got married a month ago at The Vault. The venue was absolutely wonderful from the beginning. They were very prompt about getting back to us to schedule a tour and we even loved it so much, we booked it only a few days after our tour. The Vault is breathtakingly beautiful itself, so there isn’t a need to decorate much. We loved working with Blayke, Stevie and Lala!! They were amazing!! We are a very laid back couple, which is exactly how we wanted our big day to be. Everything we planned with them was so amazing and perfect.
We had our wedding reception here a few weeks ago and for the most part it was good but there were a few things that bothered us about The Vault. Due to the structure of the building, it was very hard to understand our DJ and the people who were giving speeches. There was a big echo anytime someone was using the microphone. Our DJ was aware and did his best to fix it but it was mostly the building. After the wedding, I had numerous guests tell me how drunk our bartenders were. They were extremely rude to our guests and repeatedly made drinks wrong. They were staff members of The Vault. My husband and I paid for our guests to drink that night, not the staff members. I was extremely disappointed when I heard this. For being a more expensive venue, you would think they would have hired more responsible people. We also had a hard time getting ahold of The Vault staff members during wedding planning and we typically had to wait 3-4 days for a response. Which is nerve-wracking when you are trying to plan your wedding and most things are time sensitive. Overall, the venue is very pretty but I wish I would have known these things when we were looking at venues.
Up until the wedding day, my review of the Vault would have been amazing. I thought working with Blayke was very easy and I felt confident about my choice. However, the day of the wedding was a different story. The bartender for our guests was purposely making drinks wrong so he could drink them. His language in front of the guests was inappropriate and he made guests wait for their drinks while he told them inappropriate jokes. After an evening of drinking, he then used his paid time to be out on the dance floor dancing with the guests. When he was asked to return back to the bar and continue his job, his reply was that there were two other bartenders and it was fine. After the wedding, I contacted the Vault and voiced my concerns. They repeatedly told me that they would be in contact with me to address my concerns but never did. I am so disappointed with the staff at the Vault and hope this makes future brides think twice before selecting this venue.
The Vault was the perfect venue for our wedding, you don't need much decor because the venue itself has so much character. Planning was so easy thanks to Blayke, she was responsive, friendly and gave great recommendations. I would recommend the Vault to anyone for their wedding or special event. They will take great care of you!
My husband and I got married on 6/16/18 this year at the Vault. We were extremely blessed to work with Blayke and the rest of the staff. Her communication was outstanding and I honestly could not have planned my big day without all of her help. We had compliments from all of our guests about how gorgeous and unique the venue was. My husband and I fell in love with this venue the moment we walked through the doors! I would 100% recommend the Vault!!
I cannot say enough great things about this venue. My husband and I are both very laid back individuals, and from the initial meeting with Blayke we knew this was the venue for us. She was incredibly friendly and helpful throughout the entire process and very responsive to all of our questions. When it came time to set up for our wedding, they were very flexible with allowing us in the event space and very organized and also accommodating with the changes we wanted to make. On the day of the wedding, the staff was incredible at keeping everything organized so that I didn't have to worry about it and we were able to store our decorations at the ceremony site so we didn't have to worry about them that night. Overall, it was a great experience and we heard so many great things from our guests about how unique the event space was for our special day.
The Vault is a GORGEOUS venue; we had our reception there. From start to finish, Blayke goes above and beyond to make sure things go smoothly. She even called me on the few days leading up to her own wedding day! She had lots of vendor suggestions, preferred and others, and let me bring family and friends to The Vault to tour at any time. In addition to Blayke, there are more team members to make your day go smoothly. The venue itself is absolutely beautiful and in a semi-private location of downtown; we didn't feel like our guests were fighting a lot of traffic to get there. Lots of features of The Vault are also original, and the crowd favorite is definitely the original vault door. If you're looking to make a statement with your venue and appreciate the vintage/romantic/classic atmosphere, this is the place for you!
If you've seen the Vault, it goes without saying that the venue is stunning. It is such a unique, beautiful space. We also found the staff very easy to work with. Blayke answered all our early questions, and other staff were very responsive to later questions we had. The day-of coordinator kept things running smoothly. One thing to know is that because of the open space and wall/floor materials, sound doesn't travel well.
As soon as my now-husband and I walked into the Vault, we knew we wanted to get married there. It was a little out of our budget, but Blayke worked with us to help find a non-traditional day that did. Everyone there was great as I planned the wedding, and the day of. We had a major issue with the eternal wait staff we used, and they jumped in to fill in the gaps to help make my wedding day great. And it was! Our wedding day was amazing, and we would not have wanted it anywhere else.
Our wedding reception was like a dream! The Vault was able to accommodate our large group of 250 and there was still plenty of room to dance. Their pricing really can't be beat for the amazing location!! The staff is phenomenal and you will not regret having your wedding reception at the Vault!!
I helped coordinate a wedding here, and everyone involved agreed that this was a very difficult venue to work with! They have a stunning big-picture view of the room and the vault, which makes it a tempting space, but it is extremely run-down and dirty when you experience it up close. The bathrooms are disgusting, there are a number of unprofessional signs, the carpet is peeling, the paint is chipped, etc. On top of that, the service is simply horrible. No one from the venue could be found for most of the day, and when they were there, they were rudely enforcing rules, never helping to put on the event. I even observed them being rude to guests of the wedding at one point. I don’t recommend having your wedding here!
Amazing Venue!
The Vault went above and beyond to make our day special. This venue is absolutely gorgeous and at an affordable price. We received so many compliments on the venue and how beautiful it was. The venue just sells itself with little decorations that are needed because it’s already beautiful. The added bonus of the actual bank vault as the bar made the venue even more unique. The location of the the Vault is perfect and close to everything including hotels, restaurants, and bars. They also recommended the Ringside Café for the after party that ended up being a perfect spot for us to keep the night going. The Vault’s staff was wonderful to work with, friendly and fun. We couldn’t have asked for better bartenders that kept the guests happy with drinks. The Coordinator, Cisne, was so accommodating and went out of her way to make sure the night went as smooth as possible. She kept us in the loop of everything, such as, the flowers arriving and sending me pictures of the table setups. She worked closely with the DJ to ensure a seamless and time sensitive schedule to get the party started as soon as possible per our request. She also went out of her way to deliver two birthday cakes to our flower girls at their tables. From the start of our first meeting with Blayke to tour the venue we just knew this was the perfect place for us to have our reception. Blayke was friendly, honest and straight forward from the start with no hidden prices or surprises and was quick to return any phone calls or emails. Everything was perfect and we are happy we chose the Vault!
Highly recommend.
1) The space. A great, unique venue. It's a lot of space, but we used all of it for our group of 150. Go big with decor because your centerpieces will be dwarfed by the space. Our guests were as impressed as we were by the bar being in the old bank vault.
2) The prep. For our walkthrough, Blayke coordinated with our caterer, and we were all able to meet at the same time. This was awesome to get everyone on the same page and kill multiple birds with one stone. Very flexible about how the space can be used. Blayke was also incredibly accommodating with allowing us access to the building to decorate the week leading up to the reception. We were lucky that there was not a Friday reception, so the venue was empty the week prior. She also worked with us to make sure the bar was stocked with everything we wanted instead of having a rigid menu.
3) The day-of. We were able to get access early in the day and were greeted by a very helpful coordinator AJ. In the afternoon and during the event, everything we needed - Lalla was on it. He was very professional and very friendly. The bar staff was great as well. When it comes down to the event, the last thing the hosts want is to be followed around with questions or problems - and there was none of that. The staff just used common sense and took care of business. So refreshing.
AMAZING! Had my wedding a little over a week ago at the Vault.
My parents took it upon themselves to complain a lot along the way, (they wanted it to be perfect for their "baby girl" ugggggh.) Without hesitation, The Vault staff fixed every little thing we asked. They even went to the extreme of painting the stairs the day before and rewiring cables for us! Amazing service!!!
Blayke Austin was so wonderful about communicating leading up to the event and Taylor Carmer, (the event coordinator,) was a BLESSING. She kept me calm, relaxed, was punctual and made the event go so smoothly.
This is the PERFECT venue for couples looking for something glamorous but don't have a big wedding budget. I have, and will continue to recommend this to my friends getting married.
The space is incredibly unique which is what drew my husband and I to the location to start with. We worked with Blayke and she was very responsive and quick to answer all of our questions. In my opinion, the bar minimum is a little steep, but with the downtown location I would say that's to be expected. We took Blayke's recommendation for multiple other vendors and everyone worked out wonderfully. The down sides of this venue are definitely parking and wheel chair accessibility, Neither of which are under Blayke's control but are still important when considering a wedding venue. There are multiple parking options but all of them are a few blocks away and require either you or your guests to pay for them. The building is on one of the oldest blocks in Columbus and because of that, there is no real wheel chair accessibility either. There are multiple small sets of stairs but that can be very difficult for elderly family or anyone confined to a wheel chair. Our wedding turned out beautifully and the pictures are stunning. I wouldn't change the venue even if I had a chance and I am very happy that we booked this one. I just wanted to offer up the few cons that there are for the information of other brides.
The Vault was the absolute perfect setting for our engagement party turned surprise wedding! The staff helped keep the secret from the very beginning and were incredible to work with! This place needs no decoration and they did not "nickel and dime" you like other places we looked at. We absolutely loved everything about our wedding and our time at The Vault!
The Vault was the PERFECT reception location for our wedding. The venue itself is one-of-a-kind and it is absolutely breathtaking when set up for a wedding! The vintage look and feel required such little decor because it was so beautiful on its own! The chandelier, the stairs, the marble floors (I could go on) are beyond perfect.
I also loved the staff- they were very helpful and I was SO THANKFUL to find a place that didn't require you to use certain vendors. It gave us the flexibility to choose who we wanted and allowed us to set-up/decorate to our personal tastes.
I highly recommend the vault for ANY event- it really is the perfect place!
My husband and I had our wedding at the Vault a couple weeks ago and absolutely loved it!! We wanted to get married someplace different, interesting and in a location our guests would love and always remember; the Vault was the perfect spot! Throughout most of the process we worked with Blayke who was so easy to get along with and helpful in each step. She suggested several vendors, some of which we ended up going with because of her recommendations, and carefully went through each detail with us in regards to set-up and logistics. She was quick to respond to our emails and phone calls and made sure we were happy along the way. We also worked for a brief period with Taylor who was there on our wedding to day to help set up. She listened to our vision and made sure to follow our plans on the day of so everything was perfect, decreasing a lot of stress and anxiety for us! Lala, another one of their employees was there the night of and was very accommodating and helpful. All of their staff was friendly and great to work with. My husband and I had an amazing wedding at the Vault and would definitely recommend it!
We loved the Vault the moment we saw it… from the original 100-year-old chandelier to the marble floors to the 40-foot ceilings, we knew this place would be a showstopper! Our favorite element is the original bank vault from the 1920’s which sat open during our cocktail hour & reception and housed the bar area for guests! The renovations made in 2016 made this venue even better… polished marble floors, new paint, updated carpeting and the BEST…sheer white drapery panels strung along the ceiling. Just gorgeous! We worked directly with Blayke who was so charismatic and friendly! She was available any time we needed her, easy to work with and so kind to my 8-year-old son (she had the bartenders hide a secret stash of root beer JUST for him!!) <3
I high suggest taking a tour of the Vault!
I gave a 3 star review because were were very impressed with everything until recently. We had been emailing Blayke back and forth and she was always extremely prompt with answering. We then asked a question about their options purchasing cases of beer and we were able to take the unopened home. She said no, due to their liquor license. We responded that it was a sticking point for us because of our experience in the food and bev industry and with other vendors, but we wanted to view a contract. It has been over a week and we have not heard back from her, so we do not anticipate hearing anything back. We were pretty disappointed in the dropped communication.
We recently had our wedding reception at the Vault and it was beautiful! The room itself is so stunning that it really doesn't need much decorating. It is an old bank building and is beautiful with uplighting on the marble walls. Blayke, one of the owners that we worked with, was extremely accommodating. We were able to come in as early as we wanted the day of the wedding to set up and even bring decorations in earlier in the week to store at the venue.
We had about 275 guests and although it was a little crowded, the space was able to accommodate everyone well. The Vault is supposed to hold 300 people seated, but we felt like it would be difficult to fit many more than we had. We chose to do a family style dinner, which I would definitely recommend if you have a larger number of guests.
It was convenient to have access to a bridal suite in the Vault--a locked room to put purses, gifts, etc.
Due to the number of events hosted at the Vault, Blayke was not always as responsive as we would have liked, but this was our only complaint while working with the venue. We would definitely recommend having your event or wedding at the Vault!
My now husband and I had our wedding at The Vault April 9, 2016. From our very first meeting in 2015 through our wedding weekend, Blayke was perfect to work with. She always made us feel comfortable - she maintained professionalism yet always shared in our excitement and joy for our special day. She was informative from the beginning and open about any questions we had. She truly made us feel special and important for the past 8 months!
The venue itself is so unique - we received numerous compliments from our guests about how gorgeous the location is. We were so lucky to have our wedding at such a gem in the heart of downtown Columbus!
I could go on forever with all of the compliments. I cannot say THANK YOU enough to The Vault, and Blayke specifically, for making our day absolutely perfect!
In case you don't subscribe to Yelp wanted to warn everyone about using The Vault as a possible wedding Venue, in one word DON'T! Here is why: My daughter (the bride) and another bride had a 1:00 meeting on 3.26.2016 to tour and the venue and get an idea of the possibility of holding her ceremony and reception there. Blake the owner's daughter was rude and unprofessional. Another couple had arrived over an hour early for their appointment and when Blake asked if we wouldn't mind doing a group tour, we said "no" because we wanted the personal approach. When I called today to speak with Bentley Austin the owner and explained my concern his reply was, " in all of our years you are the first ones to refuse a group tour so we wouldn't want you here anyway." I hung up on him. Trust me, they will not have to worry about us spending our money there. In addition to this incident the following other things occurred during our visit. 1. When we finally made it to the vault section of the venue, it reeked of spoiled and stale beer. Blake said there was a fraternity party the night before, with a comment of "you know how college guys are.." 2. Blake stated that the venue was a "blueprint" and they could accommodate what we would want. When my daughter started asking if certain things could be done during the transition, she was told no every time. 3. When asked about theater style setting for the ceremony and how fast it would take to transition the floor out to set up the tables, we were told the tables would already be set up and would be along the wall. My daughter didn't want the guests to see the tables right away-the response, then we would have to go buy some PVC pipes and fabric to hide them. 4. There were several instances that Blake complained about other brides that had been there before. 5. A comment was made that they like to get to know their brides, yet we were asked four times what her date was, never asked anything about her, and never asked anything about the groom. 6. When discussing the package and the options for the alcohol, this was the response "Most people go with the House package even though you probably won't know any of the brands, you don't really need the top shelf stuff because the cheap stuff will get the job done and do the trick." The venue itself is unique but in need of renovations. I am sure I missed a few other things, but our immediate response when we left---we definitely were not going to be spending our money here. And after the phone call today, I am so glad we made that decision.
i couldn't have asked for anything better! We had our wedding at the vault and it was amazing! Blayke was so professional and easy to work with before the wedding, and the manager there the day of was great too! They were super accommodating and very easy-going. The vault looks so beautiful at night so we didn't feel the need to decorate everywhere (which was nice) but got in there the day before and had plenty of time to set up! Our guests had a great time going into the actual vault (the bar) and dancing on the dance floor in this unique venue. The bartenders were great and didn't make the kind of watered down drinks that you usually find at weddings. The hotels directly across the street and down block were So convienent for our out of town, older, and guests with kids. The private after party down the block at Ringside finished the night off in the best way possible (with chicken fingers, French fries and onion rings).Wish I could do it again and again and it would always be at the Vault. Great experience, if you just want to enjoy the night and have a great party go to the Vault!
We had our reception at the vault and everything turned out perfect. We were blown away with the venue from the first initial tour we took. Bentley, the owner, worked around our chaotic schedule to set up a tour and was up front from the beginning with the price. There were no hidden fees and the venue is absolutely beautiful! Blayke, the event manager was a pleasure to work with. She followed through with everything she promised and allowed us to come in the vault to set up a week before the event and even came in after working hours to allow us to finalize our set-up. We would highly recommend the vault to anyone wanting to rent a unique venue with a lot of character!
My husband and I recently celebrated our wedding reception at the Vault. Everything was lovely. The staff was very easy to work with and we feel we got a great venue for our money. We highly recommend this location.
We had a little under 200 guests and the vault was very accommodating.
The vault was the perfect venue for our wedding. It was exactly what I wanted and had in mind. The price was great and my guests all LOVED it. That said, my parents were VERY unhappy with it. I didn't know a lot of what was going on, but they were very upset with the state of the facilities when we arrived. The chairs were all dirty, the floors needed cleaned, and the bridal suite upstairs had dead bugs in the windowsills. I know the venue is old, so I wasn't expecting a sparkling perfect place.
But the big thing is that my parents table collapsed during my fathers toast. We found out afterward that the table was broken, and had been held together with DUCT TAPE. Lots of broken glass and spilled drinks, but the night continued without incident after that.
Overall, I loved having my wedding there, but there were some things that should be updated.
I had a wonderful experience with The Vault. We had both our ceremony and reception there. Blayke was great to work with! I loved that a lot of their information(including pricing) was online - so helpful. Nothing is worse than a vendor who is vague online and makes you go on a wild goose chase for information. The Vault was an open book regarding their policies and expectations from the beginning. I did a lot of research before finding the Vault and can say there is no other venue in the city of Columbus that can accommodate a large group (200+) for the right price in such a beautiful setting. I had many family members and friends tell me it was the most beautiful wedding they had been to, in part because of the classic elegance and unique features the Vault offers. I loved having the option of bringing my own vendors, and we ended up going with some of their recommended vendors (which was also great because of the value and the familiarity with the space). I am extremely detail oriented...so if you're like me, or even if you're not like me, here are a few tips to ensure a smooth process with The Vault: 1) Take notes during your tour and all subsequent meetings! Blayke is great and VERY informative - she talks fast because she knows her stuff. Make sure you ask questions if you're not clear on something and write things down. She's also really helpful in underlining and circling parts of the contract so that there can be no room for misunderstanding. 2) Know that if you have a Saturday wedding, it may be difficult to have your rehearsal the evening beforehand due to Friday weddings. We knew this would be a possibility going in...and a wedding did end up being booked for the Friday before ours. Blayke was SO wonderful, working with both me and the Friday bride to ensure we could both proceed with our plans. It took some juggling and flexibility, but it really worked out well. In the future, I would love to see the Vault write in a clause to their contract for this very situation that outlines what time Friday brides can begin using the space in the event a Saturday wedding is booked first. Just a thought! Truly, though, our experience with the Vault was great. They made their expectations clear and that led to a smooth event - and a really fun one, too! It was the best day and we have gotten SO many compliments on the space. Thanks, Blayke et al! We will recommend you to many more!
The great was great for our wedding reception. Everyone was very helpful and it looked beautiful. My husband and I were very happy!
The Vault was the perfect place for our wedding reception! All our guests loved the space and it was a beautiful backdrop for pictures!
The Vault is BEAUTIFUL ! The staff was very helpful and did everything we requested. Cannot say enough good things about this place !
The owner and his staff are astoundingly unprofessional. Trust me, if he relied on repeat business, he would be out of business. Let me tell you about my wedding day:
On my day, the coordinator/manager on duty had none of my event details correct. 1. We paid $200 extra to have the venue and bar for a sixth hour. But as I got my wedding gown on, the coordinator/manager on duty interrupted me to say that he couldn't figure this out per our contract, and he would close our bar during dinner, which was unplanned.
2. He made us move part of our decor during the reception due to it being a "fire hazard," even though we had a floor plan mapped out and approved with the owner, Bentley Austin, during our final walk-through. This piece of decor was a background for our ceremony that we spent several hundred dollars to build, and it was destroyed in this process. It was thrown in a dirty storage hallway and is completely ruined.
3. This person was also supposed to assist me and my bridesmaids from the "bridal lounge" to the elevator downstairs prior to the ceremony; but instead of showing up, a bridesmaid had to enter the ceremony area to go find him and ask him to unlock the elevator for us. When asked if he could close the venue door after the bridesmaids and open it for the bride's processional, he reaction was an eye roll and "That's not my job." He couldn't be bothered to open the door for the bride.
4. He was extremely unprofessional and rude throughout the evening and at the end of the night told us to get our things and "get out" because there was another event the next day. Even though we had previous permission to store our decor in the office until the next day or so. In the end, we did store our belongings there, but they had to be thrown in trash bags and boxes quickly in a haphazard way.
5. Then, when we arrived 2 days later to get our things, we were attacked by the owner's partner who said "I hope you're here to clean the room that you trashed." What kind of way is that to communicate with a customer? I explained that of course, we were there to get our belongings, but the level of cleanliness was not my problem, especially when parts of the venue we paid for and used weren't even in a presentable fashion for our wedding. There were missing ceiling tiles in the ladies room and water leaking on the floor the entire night. The bridal lounge is absolutely disgusting and in desperate need of a remodel.
The icing on the cake was when I found out from a bridesmaid who decorated for me before the wedding that Bentley had 2 other couples come into the venue to get married, while we had paid for use of the space, and that they used my decor and background for photos. I can't believe he conveniently left this out of any conversation.
In short, this is a man who has a great historic building, but has not invested in any remodeling or upkeep, and obviously cares little about the experience the customers have. He has completely ignored my feedback, even despite the fact that he overcharged my credit card for the bar invoice and owes me money.
So if you're looking for a venue that has professional, courteous staff and clean well-kept rooms on site, this is not the place for you. You'll get the "I'm so flexible, I help my brides with whatever they need" speech, but when it counts, you'll be thinking "you get what you pay for."
There is so much more I could share, including photos, but unfortunately I'm out of space.
The Vault is an awesome venue and the cost is great for downtown Columbus. We immediately knew this was the venue for us. Having said that, there are a few things that you should know to expect. Bentley is very friendly but a complete used car salesman. His staff is below average. He did not show up for our walkthrough and did not answer any of our calls. He may take up to a week to respond to email you back and seems more concerned about his new venue then the Vault. Everything there is kept low cost. Multiple light bulbs are always burned out and the bathrooms need updated. At our wedding a table collapsed on our guest for no reason. It was repaired by Duct tape by the staff there after quite a delay and they did not help clean up the flowers and vase that fell. The handicap restroom toilet overflowed and we had a handicap guest. Bentley was not responsive to any of our complaints afterwards which were only try to improve what should be an amazing venue for future customers. It seems he is great at sealing the deal and giving you all kinds of "deals" but then the great customer service ends completely.
The Vault turned out to be a beautiful venue the day of the wedding! Guests had a blast and we loved how open it was. Bentley is easy to work with as well. My only complaint is that we were very hot and we didn't know who the manager was. I was running around trying to find him to ask him to turn down the air instead of enjoying the reception.
This place is really neat, but needs some additional work (walls need fixing, colors don't seem put together, floor is slick if wet). Despite this - the venue has great potential.
All of our guests were "wowed" by the unique downtown location and loved walking into the Vault to get to the bar. We got a pretty good deal since we booked outside of peak season and they could be flexible on price and they even worked with us on the bar offerings. The room was beautifully decorated for the holiday season and there had been some updates (painting; lighting) over our year of planning. Everything was great outside of a few small snags (wedding party was locked out of the building, then locked out of the suite before the entrance; glass candle holder was broken when we came back to pick up our reception items). Overall good experience.
We had our reception here and couldnt have been happier. They were so accomodating and made sure everything was perfect for our special day.
I had my wedding reception at the vault and had a great time. All my guests loved the unique place! The staff were friendly and accommodating.
Bentley and his staff at the Vault were amazing! Our wedding day was everything I had ever dreamed of and more. The venue is so beautiful that you really don't have to spend a lot of extra money on decorations which is nice. They worked very hard to make sure everything was perfect and the night went as smoothly as possible. Our guests really enjoyed the fact that we had our ceremony and reception there and they didn't have to leave at all. The alleyways and statehouse right there make for beautiful picture locations during cocktail hour. Perfect venue, perfect wedding, and a perfect night. I highly recommend The Vault!!
The vault was beautiful!! Very accomadating. Very great price. Looks stunning in pictures. Not a lot of space to get ready if you have your ceremony there. Its great that they let you store your reception items there for a few days to pick them up after the weekend!!!
We booked our wedding with The Vault only 5 months out and they gave us a great deal. Both the owner and the manager were extremely flexible and accommodating with us and our bridal party. The venue itself was beautiful and we received many compliments from our friends and family. It was also in a very central, downtown location in Columbus, just a short walk from multiple hotels and bars. They also helped us arrange our after party for a discount on the same block, which was a huge hit with our guests. Our only complaint is that we were unable to find our leftover cake and food after the event. We think that there was a lack of coordination between the venue and the outside caterer. Staff at The Vault did try to help us find it the next day, but we left for our honeymoon unable to solve this mystery. We would recommend to a friend that they make sure this detail is figured out before their wedding day if they went with this venue.
Overall we loved having our wedding reception at The Vault. Our guests were in awe of the vault doors and the original chandelier and architecture. Heather was extremely helpful in getting everything set up and even allowed us into the venue the day before to drop stuff off. The only negative thing I can say is that it is an older building so there are certain areas that have not yet been totally updated, such as the bathrooms; however, I think this is a minor drawback compared to the rest of the charms of this venue. I would recommend The Vault to others.
We chose the Vault to have our wedding and reception at because instantly when I walked in for the meeting, I was taken away by the beauty of it! Bentley, the owner, was super helpful and made sure that any questions I had were answered in a timely manner and efficiently! I recommend it to anyone looking for a venue!
I had been searching for my venue forever...it was to the point that I was afraid that I was going to have to fit 110 people in my backyard. I couldn't find anything that fit my needs & theme & budget. I hadn't looked into the Vault because I heard it was expensive, but by the time I called to find out about it I was desperate. Once I got there I was amazed- I had seen pictures of the space on line but they didn't do it justice. Then once I spoke to Bentley I knew I didn't want to get married anywhere but here. Everything turned out so perfect. I got a great deal. Thank you so much to both Bentley & Heather - You made everything perfect & without your help I don't know what I would have done!
