The Vine

The venue was beautiful and everything was exactly what we thought it would be! And everyone was so easy to work with!

As a local vendor in the wedding industry I can not speak highly enough about the passion and motivation going in to the heart and soul of this event space. I can bring any recommendation - positive or negative directly to Mary Glenn and it is solved immediately or at least in the works. There are other venues that have been running events for years with the same kinks that The Greenhouse is working out in the forefront of their prime.

We originally picked The Greenhouse because it was something new and original that hadn’t been overdone yet in the Wedding Industry here in Southeast Georgia. The venue is beautiful, so we booked it the day after we toured it. It didn’t take long afterward for our excitement to turn into remorse. We signed the contract for the Greenhouse and paid the deposits. They are a sister company to the Vine, so they require you to use The Vine for your event decorations. This wasn’t a problem because the Vine does beautiful work. We signed our contract in early January and started advancing plans. We met with our 3rd party caterer and arranged for food and alcohol to be provided through the {third party}. About two months later, The Greenhouse sent out an email saying they were to be the only providers of alcohol on their premises. I reached out to them to let them know I had already made arrangements because this was nowhere in the signed contract. They informed me I would for-sure be purchasing alcohol through them and no one else. 1) GA law requires a company dispensing alcohol also dispense food (which the GH doesn’t do), 2) their prices were significantly more than my caterer was going to charge me, and 3) they told me “No” to multiple special requested beers we loved and asked be provided at the wedding. After getting the bill, there was a surprise 25% service charge for “alcohol permits, ice, garnishment” along with a surprise 7% tax on top of this— which would have been fine, but this came as a complete surprise to me, due to it being nowhere on the contract or mentioned at all before being tacked onto a bill and slipped to me. (Keep in mind, this was over $1000 extra than I was lead to expect of the bill) In the same sign contract, they quoted us $80-$100/ per guest as a decoration budget. There was no mention, at all, that there would also be a surprise 25% service charge along with a 7% sales tax. This ended up being over $3,000 of a hidden surprise that was never uttered if but placed on my bill and sent to me. I could, at least, find some solace In the fact that I didn’t have to worry about the presentation or decorations, because this was taken care of- this ended up not even including lighting for the inside, special lighting decoration, not even plate charger were included in the pricing. I realize they are still fairly new and trying to get established. I would hope that they would be eager to amend their tendencies and transparencies towards future clients to prevent situations as this from arising again, so i encourage potential persons to make a well-balanced, open-minded, and researched decision. Overall, the wedding was great. The catering was phenomenal, and yes the place looked beautiful. However, if Given the opportunity to do it again or alter any one aspect, I would’ve changed my venue, for certain, without a doubt. My now-husband and I paid for our wedding entirely. We worked grueling hours to achieve our wedding, and we got the idea that most of the personnel of the GH/ Vine were not accustomed to persons with budgets. When we booked the Greenhouse, they had only hosted one previous event and did not have any reviews, positive or negative. Had I known everything in this review, it would’ve saved me thousands of dollars and I hope it helps someone else, otherwise unsuspecting, make an informed and researched decision on such a huge investment, memory, and experience.

Our guests were in awe when they arrived to the stunning entrance that sets the mood. The detailed white wall was the perfect backdrop for our wedding with palm trees and lights everywhere and an inside venue that you can make your own. Lauren and Mary Glen are very helpful with event details and design and made our wedding look stunning!!
