The moment we stepped into the Water Witch Club we fell in love with the venue! Such a unique, historic, scenic AND magical place for a wedding! Ours was in October this year. We used FALCO’s catering which we HIGHLY recommend for this venue as they have the experience and expertise for off site weddings. The Water Witch Club is a blank slate. You have to bring in all the vendors yourself. But if you have the time and inclination you can make it your own vision. Falco’s was excellent in helping us with all facets of catering, liquor, rentals and HOSTING the party. The Maitre’ D and staff were on top of everything and catered to us and our guests. They pivoted for us to have the ceremony indoors due to inclement weather. Weather is the main caveat for this venue if you want to be outside for ceremony, views and cocktail hour. With the rental from Thursday to Sunday it was easier than we thought. It is simply a stunning venue. We did hair and make up on site for easy transition. We had an 8 piece band. PhaseOne from Craig Scott Entertainment! They were Excellent and fit in well at the venue. It was such a wonderful day in a SPECIAL place that we and our guests will remember!
We were married 30 years ago (1991) and have such fond memories of the Waterwitch Club. We befriended a local wedding planner (Erin and Tom Burke) who turned us on to the place. Our first thoughts were the place is a little old (historic), a bit rustic, takes work to clean ….hmm. We trusted Erin’s advice, added white tablecloths, plants, lights, flowers, food, music, our friends/family and the place was magical!
Our son is shopping wedding venues now and how I wish we were closer. I can’t do it justice with words. There is something magic about this place!
Obsessed. Was the most magical day. Have to bring everything in yourself, so lots of work but WORTH IT. The people who help run it are so helpful and amazing to work with.
If you are a couple willing to take on making all the decisions on your own, this venue is for you. Stunning views of Manhattan and Sandy Hook, historically significant, charming, rustic and gorgeous there is so much to offer. We got married on 11/3/2018 and loved the entire process. You are given access to the venue 3-4 days prior to the wedding and have 1-2 days after to clean. We loved having the ability to take a really wonderful space with so much character and make it totally personal to us. We had 144 people and utilized the deck for tables and chairs and made the inside space very loungy with vintage furniture and cocktail tables with barstools. You have full access to working fire places that made for amazing photos as people danced around them. The DJ can sit up in the loft and it gives a really great feel. I'm still on cloud 9 and so glad we chose this space to celebrate our day.
The Water Witch Club is absolutely gorgeous! We had our fall wedding here and couldn't have been happier!
I had never heard of this venue before, but found myself doing a ton of research for a venue: we knew we wanted a smaller wedding (between 60-75 guests), and found that we often had too many people for a "small" venue, but too few for some of the more traditional venue spaces in NJ. We also knew we wanted a Saturday wedding, which eliminated so many spaces since we couldn't meet the minimum head count for a Saturday. After several months of searching, I stumbled across the Water Witch Club after seeing a photo of the GORGEOUS lights set up in the reception area.
Don't be discouraged by the archaic-looking website or the lack of information out there--that is in no way a reflection of this beautiful venue. They only do a limited number of events here, so they're not looking to do a lot of promotion. But the space speaks for itself!
There are a few things to consider: there's no AC (it doesn't seem to stop anyone from having a summer wedding, though!), you have to hire a valet to handle parking, the reception has to wrap up on the early side (9pm or so), and you have to bring in all of the vendors yourself. If that doesn't jive with you, this isn't your venue. But it does open up a ton of possibilities--you can spend as much or as little on this wedding as you'd like, and make it whatever you want. There's no "preferred vendor" list to limit you.
For us, this space allowed us to have the small, intimate wedding we wanted, without feeling like we couldn't fill a ballroom meant for 200. We ended up having about 65 people, and our guests RAVED about the venue--it's so unique and elegant, and filled with a ton of history. We held our ceremony outside, did our cocktail hour on the porch and in the bar area, then opened up the reception room for dinner/dancing. We had a perfect day and couldn't be happier with our decision to get married here!
If you're looking for a venue with some history, spectacular views of both the ocean and the city, this is your venue. Be aware, this is only a venue, all vendors need to be brought in yourself, but it's the most lovely setting for a relaxing wedding where guests can spill out onto the lawn and watch the sunset. It was the perfect venue for our July 29th wedding.
