The Water Witch Club is absolutely gorgeous! We had our fall wedding here and couldn't have been happier!
I had never heard of this venue before, but found myself doing a ton of research for a venue: we knew we wanted a smaller wedding (betwee...n 60-75 guests), and found that we often had too many people for a "small" venue, but too few for some of the more traditional venue spaces in NJ. We also knew we wanted a Saturday wedding, which eliminated so many spaces since we couldn't meet the minimum head count for a Saturday. After several months of searching, I stumbled across the Water Witch Club after seeing a photo of the GORGEOUS lights set up in the reception area.
Don't be discouraged by the archaic-looking website or the lack of information out there--that is in no way a reflection of this beautiful venue. They only do a limited number of events here, so they're not looking to do a lot of promotion. But the space speaks for itself!
There are a few things to consider: there's no AC (it doesn't seem to stop anyone from having a summer wedding, though!), you have to hire a valet to handle parking, the reception has to wrap up on the early side (9pm or so), and you have to bring in all of the vendors yourself. If that doesn't jive with you, this isn't your venue. But it does open up a ton of possibilities--you can spend as much or as little on this wedding as you'd like, and make it whatever you want. There's no "preferred vendor" list to limit you.
For us, this space allowed us to have the small, intimate wedding we wanted, without feeling like we couldn't fill a ballroom meant for 200. We ended up having about 65 people, and our guests RAVED about the venue--it's so unique and elegant, and filled with a ton of history. We held our ceremony outside, did our cocktail hour on the porch and in the bar area, then opened up the reception room for dinner/dancing. We had a perfect day and couldn't be happier with our decision to get married here!
