As a Boston-based event company, we have the privilege of visiting countless facilities throughout MA, RI and NH. By far, The Waypoint Event Center is a unique "hidden gem" and delivers a stellar experience to both guests and vendors that is above and beyond. Chelsey and her team deliver that almost forgotten "Superb Hospitality" and they have the most accommodating staff to work with.
They happen to be one of our new "favorite vevues" to work with. Best of all, both the service and food are world-class! I would highly recommend Chelsey and Waypoint Event Center to anyone looking to host an event in the area. Her dedication and commitment to delivering exceptional service truly set her apart, and I have no doubt that anyone who works with her will have a fantastic experience.
Based on our experience of being in the special event industry for over 20+ years, it would be worthwhile to check out this venue before you consider any other!
Best wishes for an unforgettable wedding!

My husband and I had our wedding ceremony and reception here, we were very happy with how everything went from the very start to finish and I would highly recommend it. Food extremely good too!
Event coordinator is a little green. It made it hard to trust that things would turn out okay, so just added to my wedding stress.(Everything did turn out fine. ) Venue itself is a lovely space, and food was good.
My husband and I had our wedding at Waypoint Event Center. I stumbled across the Venue on my google search for wedding Venues. The moment we met with Diane, and saw the venue for the first time, we knew this is where we wanted to be married. Diane was absolutely incredible throughout her time at Waypoint, about 6 months before the wedding she was offered a promotion, and unfortunately we lost her. :( From then on we dealt with the new Event Coordinator, Kayla. She was sweet, and tried very hard to fill Diane's very large shoes! The day of the wedding we worked with Steph, one of the event managers. I was slightly disappointed by her, considering the room wasn't set up the way it was supposed to be, we only needed 11 Tables, and there were 12 set up, so one of them was completely empty, with not guests and the one that had people at it was not decorated with the table runners or centerpieces that i had brought because we didn't have enough for 12 tables. Also, she didn't know my husbands name the day of the wedding when she saw him before the ceremony, which frustrates me. And then, she didn't do the Ceremony processional correctly, she was rushing through sending everyone out, so when i walked in and walked down the aisle, no one was standing, and the song i was supposed to walk down the aisle to wasn't playing yet. Other than that, everything else was great! The food was delicious, and all of my guests loved the venue, and the patio area where cocktail hour was held! I would recommend to anyone that they use Waypoint as their venue!
Everything was amazing and I had an amazing time. The only reason I did not give them 5 stars is because of two small issues. My tables were not numbered correctly. It wasn't a big deal but I did try to divide the tables by family since neither families were close; the other small issue was I had requested a cake station, not to have it passed, and they passed it. When i reminded them they did fix it quickly. I had gone the previous weekend to review everything so it was just a small nuisance.
We had our wedding reception at the Waypoint in April 2017. Everything was absolutely beautiful. Our guests raved about the food and the event space. We have no connection to New Bedford, and randomly found the Waypoint during an internet search for wedding venues. After meeting Diane in January 2016, viewing the space and the local area, we knew it was where we wanted to hold our wedding reception. The Waypoint is connected to a Fairfield Inn by Marriott, which allowed our guests to stay the entire weekend and enjoy the local area. We had several guests coming from out of town and having the hotel attached to the event space made it easier to spend more time with our guests throughout the wedding weekend. The surrounding area (DNB) offers the perfect setting for amazing wedding photos, tons of restaurants for guests to have lunch, and many options to explore (museums, galleries, urban wineries, the harbor walk). Our guests raved about the local restaurants and how many places there where to explore directly across the street from the hotel. One of the main reasons we booked the Waypoint is because we were super impressed with the wedding coordinator, Diane. Diane is very personable and professional. She is very experienced and accommodating, and was able to refer us to a bunch of local vendors. She always answered my questions in a timely manner, and made me comfortable whenever I was stressing about anything. She did a wonderful job with our wedding set-up. Everything looked exactly the way we wanted it. The sea loft is gorgeous with its wood beams and stone wall. The loft area allowed our photographer to take a cool group shot from above. The food was amazing and there was soooo much of it. The cost was very reasonable compared to other venues we looked at and the Waypoint didn't have that wedding factory feel that so many other venues have. I would highly recommend having your event at the Waypoint. Many thanks to Diane and her staff!!!!!
The Waypoint was absolutely amazing!! Just had my ceremony AND reception there this past Saturday. The atmosphere, food, and most importantly the service is all 100% in my book! Diane, the event coordinator, was always quick to respond to emails and always available to give advise. She takes pride in her work you can tell, always smiling and very professional. I had the pleasure of meeting with another coordinator Becca, who would be the helping hands while Diane was away. Becca ended up being the woman who would be there on the day of the wedding, and she couldn't have done a better job!! Those two (Diane & Becca) are the real dream team!! :) everything went smooth and we enjoyed every second!
Diane was absolutely amazing! I honestly couldn't have asked for a better Event Manager. She made sure our special day was perfect in every way.
The venue was exactly what we wanted and everyone commented on how amazing the food was. I would highly recommend this venue!!!
My husband and I just got married on New Year's Day here at the Waypoint and I can't say enough good things about this venue. The Sea Loft room is absolutely gorgeous. The exposed beams and the stone wall sets it apart from all those cookie cutter banquet halls. The room looked classic with a romantic and intimate feel. When picking a location, we were concerned about having boring bland food, but it was anything but. Our family and friends have reached out to let us know it was by far the most amazing wedding food they have ever had. The best part had to be our coordinator, Diane. She went above and beyond to make sure that our wedding was everything we wanted. Diane was always quick to respond to my many emails and fulfilled our every request. She and the staff set the room up exactly as I would have done myself, paying attention to every detail. I didn't have to worry about a thing the day of my wedding. I was able to relax and just enjoy every moment. You will not be disappointed picking the Waypoint to host your wedding or any special event.
I am happy to recommend The Sea Loft at Waypoint Event Center for any type of function. We chose this venue for my 60th birthday party. Diane was so accomodating, helpful and a real pleasure. The room is beautiful and the food was outstanding. Nath and her staff were friendly and efficient, yet unobstrusive. Dennis the bartender was wonderful as well. We were so pleased with the way everything turned out; it exceeded our expectations.
We had our beautiful wedding at Waypoint Event Center in New Bedford. We started out working with Jen who was extremely helpful, and once she left we began working with Diane. The actual day of coordinator was Nath because Diane was not on site. There were some communication issues between the previous and current coordinator and the day of coordinator, however we couldn't be happier with the way the day turned out. Diane was extremely sweet and responsive and was able to address all of our concerns and work with us on our unconventional plans. We were able to set up the day before the event and were given ample access for our do-it-ourselves decorating plans. At the event, the venue worked seamlessly with our vendors. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. I would definitely recommend Waypoint, and particularly Diane, to other couples!
The Sea Loft at the Waypoint Event Center was the venue I chose for my daughter's Bridal Shower. What a fabulous decision that was!!! Jennifer Cotoia, the event planner, is amazing. Every detail of the day was thought out and discussed at length. She is a wealth of information with great ideas. Together, our vision meshed. The result was a beautiful, elegant Bridal Shower that was flawless. The Sea Loft is beautiful! Walls of windows and high ceilings fill the room with light, and the exposed beams and stone wall added coziness. We opted for the Brunch, and it did not disappoint. Fabulous food, impeccable service! The Sea Loft at the Waypoint Event Center - Shines at 5 Stars for any event!
Loved working with Jennifer who coordinated my wedding reception. She was so helpful and accommodating. The food was amazing and every guest commented the same. The room was set up perfectly. We had a smaller wedding so this venue was perfect since they dont have a minimum head count, rather their figures are with dollar amounts, which was also helpful in allowing us to budget better. I would absolutely recommend them and I would host another event here!!
We had to express our gratitude to Jen and everyone at the Waypoint Event Center for making our wedding perfect. From the moment we visited, we fell in love with the location and gorgeous stone building. Jen was a pleasure to work with from day one, answering any questions or quote requests almost immediately. She assisted with setting up our hotel blocks and food tastings prior to the wedding, and was always happy to let us drop by when we were in town to peak in at the venue. The night of our wedding was fantastic. Everything was set up as requested and looked gorgeous. I think every single guest came up to us to rave about the food. From the appetizers to the main course, we all adored the food, and the service was great. It was such a perfect evening for my husband and I. We both feel strongly that Jen and the Waypoint went above and beyond to make sure every little detail was looked after. We so enjoyed working with this venue.
This place was great! We had a wedding where we had about 90 guests and it was the perfect size. We actually invited 130 (their max capacity, we actually cut our list a little because we really liked this place) but we much happier with the smaller size. It was cozy and left the dance floor at the perfect size - large enough to dance, but not feel empty. Also, the building its in is an old whaling ice house. So, it a cool old building with some history. There's no need to use the cheesy purple up lighting or be excessive with decor, since the building is actually very cool. There are high ceilings, exposed wood beams, a cool metal staircase and stone walls. There is also an outdoor courtyard which we had the cocktail hour. I thought that was cool touch.
We primarily dealt with Jen, who is extremely nice and helpful. She actually was in another wedding for our actual wedding date, so her assistant was there day of. She was also very nice and we didn't notice a difference. All the decor (a lot of DIY, since I'm in the arts and wanted this simple vintage feel) was laid out as we imagined and we could tell everything was perfectly communicated.
The food was also amazing. Part of the reason that we picked the Waypoint was that we didn't have to find a catering. We had the bacon wrapped filet and salmon and both were delicious. The one passed hor dourve that I did manage to grab was great. You don't really rest on your wedding day.
Also, we loved the fact that venue is connected to a hotel. I grew up in New Bedford, but no longer local. Therefore, majority of our guests were traveling from out of town, so this was a huge convenience to us. Also, there are multiple bars and restaurants within walking distance, making after party destinations very easy.
If your guest list is small enough, I definitely suggest this place.
Every detail was taken care of, every request made. Can't say enough how very pleased we were! Food was amazing every guest had a compliment - exactly how we pictured the day!
The food was phenomenal. The staff was amazing. It was beautiful. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect venue. They were so accommodating and helpful!!
My husband and I wanted/HAD TO HAVE a venue with a hotel attached. I was completely against a hotel ballroom/wedding factory venue. I really wanted some type of rustic feel, like a barn or vineyard, etc. When we walked into Waypoint we loved it immediately. The venue is a restored whaling factory building so it has one wall that is stone with large windows. There are exposed wood beams - it feels like a historic place. The venue has a modern design (bar, bathrooms, elevator, etc.) yet maintains its unique atmosphere. Working with Jenn from Waypoint was a delight. She is professional, quickly responds to communication, and was fabulous as the person in charge on the wedding day. Finally, when dealing with Waypoint you also deal with the Fairfield Inn and Suites. Again, we couldn't be more pleased. Clean, up to date rooms and a good breakfast made the hotel accommodations a perfect match to the venue.
This is a relatively small wedding venue. Capacity of 130, but would probably shoot for 110 guests or less. We had just under 90 guests and it was very comfortable, without feeling empty. Plenty of room on the full dance floor. The food was exceptional and very competetively priced. The service was impeccable, they were willing to work around several bizzare dietary restrictions. Nothing was ever a big deal, and their relaxed and experienced attitude made the planning process a breeze.
Susan Gomes, our coordinator, was very acommodating and gave excellent advice for other vendors, and even just restaurants and things to do in the area. The reception space is gorgeous, with a historic wooden floor and stone wall. The amenities are all modern, though, and very comfortable. The venue is attached to the Fairfield Inn and Suites, so easy access for your guests who will be spending the night. One other thing to note, there is no space for an on-site ceremony.
I had my wedding reception at Waypoint on September 8, 2012. It was a pleasurable experience. They exceeded expectations! Wonderful job!
I will have to say that Susan at the Waypoint was one of the best wedding coordinators. Very much detail oriented and knowledgeable. I never had a concern or issue with food, room, or arrangements. All we have heard since that night from our guests is how wonderful it was, and "one of the best, most classy weddings they have been to in a long time". The food was super and the room was exactly what I was looking for. We even had the rehearsal dinner there and it was great. We got there early and they were still ready to accommodate the time change with us. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this venue for any bride and groom to be. Hands down the best we could have ever asked and hoped for.
Our wedding was 9/10/11. We found the Waypoint before it was completed and just fell in love with how it was decsribed. Everything turned out perfect! The staff was wonderful and food was better than I expected.
