The Westin offered us the best rate for a busy weekend in Indianapolis. Brittany was my contact there and was AWESOME. She was very responsive and helpful! Our guests all seemed to enjoy their stays. I wish the check in process in general wasn't so complicated at hotels, but thats how it is everywhere. They gave out guests welcome bags for free, which was great, despite missing some folks. There were a couple things I would have changed:
1) Upgrade to a larger bridal suite (ours was nice, but very tight for me and 7 women to hang out prior). By the week of when I was trying to work it out with Brittany, despite her best efforts, it didn't happen.
2) I wish we would have known the attached restaurant Shulas offered brunch - We wanted to host breakfast but couldn't afford the catering in the Westin and were surprised to see a buffet open that morning for $15/person. By then, many of the guests had left.
3) Valet parking lot was full intermittently all weekend. Talk about heart attack on the Friday night before the wedding! Since the Westin contracts out the valet and doesn't own the lot, they had no control. Luckily the valet guys were great and didn't want to see a bride have a meltdown :)
4) No one came to clean up the room during the wedding day other than change linens and sheets. The trash was still there from breakfast, and they brought champagne/strawberries on Friday night not Saturday, so I enjoyed wedding morning not when we got back after the wedding night. I was hoping there would be another one to enjoy with my new husband.
Overall, the Westin was the best choice for the price and location, I totally believe that.
We had our wedding ceremony and reception here in May. The staff was extremely friendly. The event planner was amazing from The Westin and did her best to make sure everything I wanted was done. We did a room flip from the ceremony to the reception which was a bit chaotic, but at no fault to the hotel. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.
After we met with Kelsey Rigdon the first time, we knew that we wanted to have our wedding reception at The Westin! Not only was it elegant and beautiful, but Kelsey was more than accommodating and so was the staff. We had so many compliments from our guests on the food as well as the friendly staff. The rooms were great and my bridesmaids and I really enjoyed the Governor's Suite which we all stayed in the night before. I would highly recommend this venue to anyone looking to get married in Indianapolis.
fun wedding venue with good food, updated and modern decor, great staff
Overall, I loved every moment of my wedding. And, overall, I expected little hiccups on my wedding day. But, I would really advise someone who really wants to have smooth wedding day to look elsewhere.
The big things- the ballroom we booked became unavailable about two weeks before the big day. My wedding was moved to a smaller room- that was really more like a conference room than a ballroom. They were willing to work with us and threw in some freebies and agreed to decorate the room with uplighting and fabric swag to make up for it. Well- the uplighting was minimal and the swag looked like someone had run a string of toilet paper across the ceiling. Very disappointing.
To make matters worse- the room was not set up in time for the florist or the cake. Details that had been arranged weeks earlier- leaving my poor aunt setting up the room hours before the wedding.
Then came dinner- I have a severe wheat allergy. This was covered during our first meeting- in emails- and at the tasting. When I sat down to eat- my salad had croutons. Not a biggie- I understand that there are oversights. So- a second salad came- with croutons. Then my meal came- with breaded onions. On my own wedding, I couldn't eat anything more than one appetizer. Seriously frustrating.
There is a list of about a thousand little things that were missed or forgotten. Overall, my mom and aunt had to step in to make sure things went well. And they did- but they really should have gotten to enjoy the day.
I would look for a hotel with a more professional staff.
excellent service ... everything was wonderful and everyone was very helpful
