We held our Indian wedding functions at the Westin Princeton. Overall we had a great experience. Lauren and team were wonderful to work with throughout the planning process and she's well versed in Indian weddings. The venue is conveniently located about 10-15 min drive from Princeton University area.
The hotel was clean and had multiple room options for both smaller and larger events. The ballroom is spacious and was a great backdrop for our sangeet, ceremony, and reception. We held our cocktail hour in the Terrace View Room/courtyard space and it was great to have an indoor-outdoor option. We had a room block as well, and guest rooms were roomy and had updated amenities which was appreciated.
A few of the cons - we ran into a few issues with guest room reservations and in-house catering. We'd previously gone over the menu and dietary requirements in detail with the chef yet during one of our lunches, the desserts were not baked according to the dietary requirements and couldn't be served to guests.
We worked with Kate for our event and must say were very pleased with the service from beginning to end. She was one of the most organized and accommodating people we had come across during the entire planning process. She was very professional and prompt and provided great input throughout the process.
Wedding Planning can be a very stressful and daunting process but Kate made everything very seamless and eased our stress when it came to working with the venue. The venue itself and the staff were great, not only on the day of the event but during every meeting leading up to the event as well. I'd highly recommend this venue and Kate to anyone who is looking to plan their event.
I have had many meetings at the Westin and always enjoyed their customer service level. For our wedding the stress level was high but the Westin staff in catering and events did an amazing job. They made sure everything (in their control) was handled! Couldn't stop the snow! NYE Wedding was a busy time but our guests were well taken care of!
Kate Pristash was a wonderful manager and consultant for our wedding at the Forrestal Westin. She was friendly, polite, and detail-oriented. She helped me coordinated so many reception details even though I was out of state which made it difficult. She had a lovely tasting menu day planned. She helped arrange for my family to stay overnight beforehand and figure out getting ready rooms. The day of she made sure everything went perfectly!
I was very disappointed with the lack of service and quality the Westin provided during our Wedding day. I wrote a complete review previously so please refer to that for details. It's sufficient to say that no one knew what they were doing, the front desk was a mess, the staff only did things half way before just leaving, and the event coordinator didn't even show up until most of the wedding was through. If it wasn't for my family and my bridesmaids most of our programs, favors, place cards, and even number cards would not be placed. They ruined my day. Our guests waited until 5/6pm to check into their rooms (when we purchased 30-40 rooms) they told my guests the day of my wedding they ran out of rooms and therefore my guests had no where to go. They were disorganized, and the cherry on top was when I (the bride) was placing table number cards on tables 15 mins before my reception started.
I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.
We had a Hindu wedding+reception at the Westin and their staff did a wonderful job! The catering manager, Shari, is very nice and easy to work with. If something can be done, they will do their best to do it for you. The venue itself was beautiful and one of the main draws is that they have an excellent relationship with Mogul catering which made it easier for us as the Westin handled Mogul the day of coordination with Mogul - Mogul can cook their food on site so it's fresher food - and it was one less vendor we had to really manage. They also have a good relationship with the decorator we used which also made life easier. Overall, we really enjoyed having our wedding here and it was the best choice for us. Our guests also stayed at the hotel and they really liked the rooms, it's a very clean hotel and fits the bill!
My husband and I stayed at this hotel (separately) the night before our wedding, as did many of our guests and members of our wedding party. The hotel is gorgeous, and served as a great backdrop for photos on our wedding day. Our stay was great, the service was fantastic, everyone there made us feel welcome and special, even sending a congratulatory gift to our room after the wedding.
The Westin Princeton in Forrestal Village is quality hotel with quality service. The event coordinator, Paula Bennett, was accessible and pleasant with which to work. She answered every email or returned each phone call within 24 hours. If she could not, her assistant responded promptly and accurately for her. We always felt important and accommodated. She made great recommendations of vendors. We made our own centerpiece, made our own table numbers and placecards, and made special requests for favors and desserts. Every detail was executed flawlessly by Paula and her staff. We worried about nothing the day of the wedding.
The food was fabulous. It was presented in the same portion size the day of the wedding as it was at our food tasting. There were plenty of passed appetizers during cocktail hour. Two bars were supplied so no guest waited for a drink. The service during dinner was wonderful. Many guests commented that their wine glass never ran dry. I can't say enough about the attentiveness and pleasantness of the entire staff the day of the event.
Additionally, the hotel accommodated overnight guests well. There were no problems making reservations, or expanding the room block to include additional rooms or to extend a stay. It was nice for my fiance and I to move to the hotel bar after the reception and mingle with the overnight guests that we may not have gotten the chance to speak to during the reception. It was also nice not to worry about a shuttle for guests, or guests having to drive after the reception!
I would recommend this venue to anyone looking for quality and convenience for their guests.
We had our July wedding at the Westin and it was AMAZING! We had very high expectations and the Westin not only met, but exceeded them! Paula Bennett, the Catering Director, made sure that every single detail was perfect! Her staff was professional, detail oriented, and so helpful with everything!
Food: The food was amazing! We had guests comment that they had never had such good food at a wedding! The appetizers were delicious as was the main meal. We offered our guests to select between Filet, Salmon, and Stuffed Chicken. All 3 were so good!
Service: I woke up at 4am the morning of my wedding worried because I forgot to include a note to my guests in our overnight bags about breakfast the next morning. I went down to the catering office at 9am and not only did Gina, the catering coordinator, type up a quick note for me, but she also took care of placing it in each of the bags. If we needed anything the front desk was up at our room in an instant with a smile. Everyone at the Westin seemed to truly enjoy their job. This is one of the reasons we chose the Westin. Everyone is friendly and willing to help you with whatever you may need.
Hotel: The Westin just underwent a huge renovation. When you enter the hotel, you just seem to feel relaxed. The decor is what I would consider modern elegance. The rooms are comfortable and spacious, especially the suites!
Grounds: The grounds of the hotel are beautiful! We took all of our photographs right on site. The photographer took amazing photos in Forrestal Village and around the fountain. There are tons of great photo opportunities!
Location: The hotel was easily accessible for my guests as it was right off of route one. Although it is so close to the highway, you don't even notice it. The night before the wedding we sat outside near the fire pit to enjoy drinks. We didn't hear any traffic.
I can not say enough good things about the Westin! Everything that we experienced there was simply perfect! I do suggest making a weekend out of it. After the rehearsal dinner on Thursday we all checked into our rooms. The bridesmaids had two adjoining rooms and the groomsmen had two adjoining rooms. Our parents, grandparents, and some friends stayed over too. The girls enjoyed room service on Friday morning. It was quick and delicious, of course! We had hair and makeup come to us and they did it in our rooms. Many guests stayed over on Friday night after the wedding. Then we treated everyone to breakfast on Saturday morning. It was wonderful to turn a short ceremony and reception into so much more!
If you want a wedding that everyone will remember, don't hesitate to book the Westin!
I struggled over whether or not to write this review, but in the end I decided I should because I would want to know this myself
1st Pros:
Nice location, pretty fountain, great other vendors conveniently located in the same plaza, and the director of catering is very sweet and accommodating
Cons:
1)The chairs had dark stains on them which was very noticeable. We had to open the doors to try and get rid of the musty smell in the room.
2) There was no silverware out at the cocktail hour. My mother said that she had to ask 5 times for silverware to be put out.
3) The meals at the food tasting weren’t at all representative of the food that was served at the wedding. My father asked if the chef who was cooking the food for the tasting would be cooking for the reception. They told us no, but the same chef would oversee the other cooks. The salads were a plate of wilted greens. Instead of salmon on a soft bed of mashed potatoes, sauce and vegetables----it was an ice cream scoop of hard potatoes along side a dried out piece of salmon with very little sauce. This was not only a disappointment, it was an embarrassment.
4) Meals were taken away within 10 minutes of being served. Everyone made the comment to us that they would leave to use the rest room or dance and when they returned to their seat, their salad or dinner would be gone. My flower girl and ring bearer had nothing to eat at all---their kids meals were there one minute and gone the next.
5) There is no communication between the director of catering and the Banquet Captain. I specifically requested that the doors to the cocktail hour not be opened prior to 6pm, so that we could do a receiving line at the start of the cocktail hour. The director of catering wasn’t there and must have not communicated my requests with the Banquet Captain, because the doors were opened prior to six and we couldn’t do the receiving line.
6) I never made it to the cocktail hour anyway, because it did rain for about 15 mins during my ceremony and me and my bridesmaids had to fix ourselves prior to the cocktail hour. The keys to my suite never worked the entire evening. We told the front desk and it took 35 minutes for someone to come and let us in. We therefore completely missed the cocktail hour and never did the receiving line. The timeline of events for the entire night was totally thrown off because of this.
7) One of the reasons I selected the Westin was the possibility of having an inside /outside cocktail hour. It rained for about 15mins at 4pm and was beautiful the rest of the entire evening. We decorated the outside area for the cocktail hour very nicely and then when it rained the tables were piled back in the room and never put back out. In the end, when I finally came down and everyone followed me outside they were all commenting on how beautiful it looked and thought the decorations were for another wedding.
8) I sent several emails to the director of catering’s assistant about having stands for the table numbers out on the tables, yet when we arrived there were no table number stands and the table numbers were laying all over the tables.
9)The Banquet Captain seemed to not know what was going on at all and was not pushing the evening along in an organized way.
11) They threw out the top tier of my wedding cake (you are supposed to save it for your first anniversary)
Our whole Westin Princeton experience was wonderful from beginning to end. The location/venue had wonderful photo opportunities. The ballroom and table setup were well spaced out for the 200+ guests that we had. The guest rooms were very nice, modern and clean but did not even compare to the amazing presidential suite where the bridal party got ready. Our guests had nothing but great things to say about the food and how flavorful it was. The staff was super courteous and attentive. Our wedding coordinator, Paula, went above and beyond in making our ideas become a reality. I would highly recommend this venue.
We were extremely pleased with the Westin Princeton. The combined ballrooms were a great space for our wedding of 300 guests. The food was absolutely amazing and all of our guests were impressed and very pleased. Most of our guests were out of towners and the Westin provided a hotel room block personalized website for our wedding. Also, the Westin provided an amazing bridal suite (presidential suite) for myself and my bridesmaids to get ready. We took beautiful pictures in the spacious presidential suite. Overall, the Westin was the perfect venue for our wedding and completed our Princeton themed wedding!
The location was perfect for our guests to get to; the staff at the reception provided EXCEPTIONAL service.
The staff was excellent at the reception. Very attentive and courteous.;The manager that handles the hotel room block was incompetent. We paid for several of our guests' rooms, but they were also charged. It's been a mess trying to sort though who was charged and who wasn't.
Donna was amazing. She saw to everything. The food was excellent. The reception space was beautiful and spacious. Our pet peeve is small dance floors and without our asking the floor was large. The catering was great with many options for the reception, rehearsal dinner, and next day brunch.
We loved everything about our venue. All of the staff (the wedding coordinator and the person who handled the block of rooms) gave us great service. They paid attention to every detail. We had a lot of out of town guests so we wanted the reception at a hotel. They had a small function room that we were able to use for an after-party. Most of our other vendors came from a reference list the hotel gave us of vendors they frequently work with. The hotel has a courtyard off the lobby so we were able to have our cocktail hour outside. There is a beautiful fountain in front of the hotel that our photographer took pictures of at night. I think we loved everything about our reception site.;Honestly there is not really anything I would warn someone about with the Westin Princeton Hotel.
