The Westin and Brenna were absolutely incredible! I cannot say enough good things about their service. They were able to answer all my questions (and there were a LOT of questions) thoroughly and timely. They went above and beyond to ensure I had everything exactly how I wanted and also accommodated every last minute change the day of from things inevitably going wrong with other vendors. You can tell that Brenna along with each and every one of their employees are passionate about what they do. The venue itself was also perfect and so nice to have everything in one place so my guests never had to leave the hotel! Seriously, the atrium was a dream come true - thank you so much Westin!

The garden atrium at the Westin is truly a hidden gem of a wedding venue in Southeast Michigan! It was absolutely gorgeous and the perfect backdrop for the colorful wedding we wanted! We had a great experience working with Lauren as well. She is very professional, on top of things, responsible, and helpful. She truly cares about making things run smoothly for couples, and we have nothing but great things to say about her. We had a lot of unique things we wanted to do, and she didn’t bat an eye and made sure we could make everything work to fulfill our vision. Whenever we needed it, she set up calls and meetings with us to go through details. We had our welcome dinner, wedding, and farewell breakfast all at the hotel so she helped make sure that details were nailed down for all three events. During the weekend of our wedding there were a ton of events happening at the venue at once so the staff was definitely stretched thin which did lead to some issues with our food service. However, based on our conversations after the wedding, Lauren and the Westin team recognized and resolved these issues so they should not be an issue for future couples. Overall, we had a great experience and people have been talking to us constantly about what a beautiful venue it was! We highly recommend having your wedding in this gorgeous space!
- I DO NOT RECOMMEND! I was swept up in the beauty of this venue. The service and experience was beyond poor! Don’t make the same mistake as me.
- Trash was left everywhere, as the bride I spent time cleaning up during the rehearsal, and had to request a trash bin to be left at the guest book which I felt should have been recognized by the staff when/if anyone noticed
- Not only was the send off sign not put out but the sign and glow sticks for dancing and the send off were found in a pile of TRASH laying around
- Jessica was not there at the time of set up and left before the reception ended. She also did not connect me with a new POC, despite asking to be
- Halfway through the event I asked a worker who was in charge after Jessica because I had some issues I wanted addressed, the worker said she will call and find someone and send them to me but no one ever came to check in
- After the entire event I had to actively ask around for who was put in charge after Jessica left and no one seemed to know so when I finally found the person and IN TEARS expressed my disappointment she argued everything with me and said she’s find the GM for me to talk to then stormed off and didn’t see her again. I later found out no GM was on sight at that point
- New POC also said “I thought you were having fun” when I brought up my concerns which leads me to believe the worker who said they will find her for me and let me know either never found out or the new POC didn’t care to follow up with me when she found out halfway through I was having problems
- Because we did not have a person from the venue to help with the timeline of things our end time ran over by 6 minutes and some maintenance guy came over to switch all the lights on. When I asked if we could just have a couple more minutes so my husband and I could have our last private dance (we were the only ones down there as everyone was setting up for the send off) he told me “No, the event ended at 10 and it’s 10:06 now” and proceeded to switch the lights on and walk around doing other things on the dance floor while we tried to have our private last dance
- The fountain was supposed to be put on after the ceremony and never was (it even says it in our notes, hand written by Jessica)
- They also say they flip the room from ceremony to reception but I had a handful of guests having to help because they didn’t handle everything
- Before booking it was not made clear that all candles have to be LED (and would not be provided) which was not something I planned for when choosing between venues but only found out AFTER signing the contract
- No clear communication or heads up about no assistance with rehearsal or ceremony
- Would have booked a day of coordinator if I was given all the information and in a timely manager to arrange booking someone
- Communication about room packages was misleading/confusing
- I spent the remainder of my wedding night crying over all the failures of the venue and the staff and lack of concern, accountability and professionalism at their hands
- It has now been a week and we have still yet to hear anything from Jessica or the GM that we were told would talk to us.
Jessica was so easy to work with to plan our day! And the rest of the staff was so kind and eager to help us as well.
Space was beautiful, both the ballroom and the lobby. SUPER inviting for our guests coming in!

The team at the Westin was great. We worked primarily with Jessica and she was very accommodating to my husband and I. My experience was great. They have a great team of people working at the hotel. The only slight complaint I had was the hotel was a little humid the two days we were there but I believe it was due to having multiple events there a one time maybe. Other than that it’s a beautiful place to have your big day!
Jessica and Andrea were so helpful and awesome to work with. All of the food and beverage staff was very helpful and pleasant. The venue was beautiful and they did a great job making my special day a success! The presidential suite was very spacious and made getting ready before the wedding a breeze! Highly recommend using the garden Atrium. It was so beautiful!!
We had our wedding ceremony and reception in the Garden Atrium at the Westin. I can’t say enough good things about the venue – it’s so gorgeous. I worked closely with Jessica Wensley who helped make my wedding dreams come true. She is the absolute best and went above and beyond in so many ways for me. Her attention to detail, quick communication, and above all, her positive personality truly made planning my wedding fun. We had hoped the bar in the hotel stayed open for an after party, but they ended up closing early. The hotel elevators are also extremely difficult for vendors and the wedding party as you each need a key card to operate and ours kept getting deactivated. Even with those two hiccups, I still would recommend Jessica and the Garden Atrium for your next event. Such a unique event space with an awesome team to help you plan!

I can't say enough great things about the Westin Southfield, especially Andrea Gerber - The Director of Events, along with her entire team. My wife Pooja Sharma and I (Naveen Sharma), planned, and executed a multi day wedding on October 8th, 9th, and 10th, 2022. Andrea was our main point of contact at the hotel. From the first time we met, we felt her warmth and willing to help us and the wedding couple, in anyway she can. She arrived to the hotel early in the morning, was available during the day, and the evening, she even stayed the night and woke up early Sunday morning, around 6am, to facilitate the setup for the breakfast and the early wedding ceremony. She did not leave until everything was taken care of. Her banquet team was also very friendly during the reception, and the ceremony. They catered to the needs of the bride, groom, family, friends, and all the vendors. Everyone was respectful and friendly. Saturday evening, a few of the vendors did not get a chance to eat dinner, due to working hard for the event, and Andrea was nice enough to arrange some dinner for us, via the hotel restaurant. The food was amazing! We stayed the night and the hotel rooms were nice, clean, and luxurious for a Marriott property. The Atrium is a beautiful space for a wedding, or event, and we highly highly highly recommend Andrea, along with the entire sales and banquet team, for your next wedding or event. We also want to recognize the hard working folks behind the scenes, the servers, waiters, kitchen staff, front desk, valet, security, and housekeeping. Everything came together well.
Jessica Wensley was our coordinator and she and the rest of the team were an absolute pleasure to work with! The day went so smooth and staff were great as well! Food was even better than the tasting itself and the team worked with us for some amazing off-menu desserts!
Let me just say, that this wedding was executed flawlessly by the one and only Jessica Wensley! I was so impressed at how she handled my wedding and went ABOVE AND BEYOND to make sure it was a success and we were happy. So grateful to the Westin for the beautiful space and Jessica!! The food was delicious(The guests are raving about the chicken) and the overall look of the wedding was great. Jessica worked with my vendors and kept everything smoothly and on point. I can't thank Julia at the Westin Southfield enough for all her help in making my event a success. All the staff that worked the evening was wonderful. Very attentive and helpful. I received multiple compliments on the bartender that she worked hard and was very pleasant. The food was delicious just like our tasting. Julia was very calm and helpful with our minor hiccups. I actually laughed at them and it worked out fine. I would definitely have another affair at the Westin. The room was beautiful and Julia worked well with all my vendors. She was very responsive to all my emails and calls.
They did a great job. Always were attentive to our requests and were easy to reach. They really made our wedding one to remember and the ambiance was on point. Couldn't have asked for a better atmosphere

Choosing the Westin as our reception venue was one of the best choices we made for our wedding. Anna and Sabrina were nothing short of incredible, professional, helpful and wonderful with communication. The ballroom was beautiful, spacious and perfect with a separate cocktail hour space. Quality of food was something else we were concerned about but I honestly don't think there was anywhere else that could have done a better job. The food was beyond our expectations and I have heard from SEVERAL people that it was by far the best food they've ever had at a wedding and they were very impressed. I could go on and on about the Westin, but overall, they helped make our day perfect and I would absolutely recommend them to anyone.
We had both our ceremony and reception at the Westin Southfield in May 2019. The ceremony was in the Atrium and the reception was held in the Algonquin ballroom with about 150 guests. Throughout the planning process, Anna and Julia were extremely helpful - always answering all our emails and numerous questions. About a week before the wedding, we had a meeting with the Westin staff which helped us feel more at ease with the planning process. We also reserved the hospitality suite, which obviously adds to the cost, but I believe was completely worth it to have the extra space to get ready and for family to have a getaway area. The day of, we were so surprised with the extreme friendly-ness of the entire staff at the Westin. We loved the Atrium space, we used banquet chairs and minimal decoration but it was still beautiful. Our guests loved the food, open bar, and raved about the Atrium and ballroom set up as well. I couldn't have asked for a better day for my wedding day. I highly recommend the Westin!

What can I say, I am a party planner with my own restaurant with a party room so when it comes to parties I expect nothing but the best especially when it came to my 1st born daughters wedding day.
From the very first interaction I had with Anna I was impressed, the professionalism and attention to detail was exactly what I was looking for.
Every vendor I hired for flowers, band etc had said they worked with Anna and the hotel before and they are a cut above the rest, this really eased my mind because of course you can plan but you need a real team to execute your plans, and I received everything I asked for and then some.
I would recommend the Westin and especially Anna for your special day, you deserve it!

A women's wedding day is unquestionably one of the most important days of her life. The Westin Southfield staff made my wedding day vision everything I imagined it to be. My husband and I were married on August 11, 2018 and the reception was "GRAND" in every sense of the word! Thank you doesn't seem like enough, nevertheless we do want you to know that your kindness, attention to details and professionalism from the beginning to the end all added to the lovely memories of our special day and blessed us in ways that we will forever cherish. From the very beginning of the planning process your team didn't miss a beat. The collaboration with myself and my vendors was excellent. The responsiveness to my calls and emails was exceptional. Your suggestions added to the class and flare that made that met my personal expectations. The service was second to none, the meals and accommodations were phenomenal. Everything was awesome, fabulous, over the top! We thoroughly enjoyed the evening. And it wasn't until the following morning during checkout when in hindsight I was taken back with emotion as I thanked one of your staff. People who know me personally know how particular I can be, it's just part of my character, needless to say I/ we were thoroughly pleased and if we had it to do over again there is no doubt we would be there at the Westin Southfield.
We just have our wedding reception at the Westin in Southfield in August and it was the best experience. The food was amazing even weeks after the reception people are still talking about how good the food was. The Staff was great always on top of things and very frieldly. The staff made us as bride and groom feel like rock stars always making sure we had what we needed and that the reception went off without a hitch. I would definitely recommend the Westin Southfield for a wedding you won't be disappointed but you will be blown away but thier service.
My wife and I enjoyed everything about our wedding day. The whole staff was very friendly and treated us with so much respect. I cant emphasize how important customer service is on such an important day (and when you are spending a lot of money). The Westin was outstanding in this area. They fulfilled our every need and wish, even when it was outside of the package we selected. Additionally, because it is a Hotel as well, the abundance of resources made it easy for them to make things happen!
The whole hotel is beautiful, which made our pictures amazing! The food is great! Drinks were delicious! Parking is ample. Even the room at the end of the night was beyond comfortable (and included!).
I highly recommend this as a wedding venue.

We had our wedding reception in October 2017 at the Westin Southfield Detroit in the Algonquin ballroom and everything was wonderful. We planned our wedding from afar as we lived out of state, and the entire staff at the Westin made all the coordination basically seamless. They were very accommodating with our schedules and communication via email. They also were wonderful to our families, who stepped in to help plan in several occasions. The food was wonderful - we decided to only go with a chicken option and our guests all raved about it. Our appetizers were incredible, and the staff made sure to bring a platter of them to our holding room before our introductions so we could actually enjoy them! The only slight issue we encountered was a bathroom renovation that was supposed to have been completed by the time of our reception. Apparently the devastating hurricanes of the season affected the materials shipping, which obviously was out of everyone’s hands. The staff was extra accommodating to my then-wheelchair bound grandfather, ensuring that he could access the facilities when needed, and they provided a backup bathroom for guests as well. It was certainly a slight inconvenience but everyone at the Westin did everything they could to make up for it, and I didn’t get one comment or question from guests about the issue at all. Both sets of parents booked a hospitality suite for getting ready and a small post wedding gathering, which I think made all the difference in our overall experience. Also, we hosted a morning-after brunch which was wonderful... and our guests absolutely raved about the food (especially the bacon)! I would recommend the Westin for any event - they truly made our wedding day perfect.
Our NYE wedding was absolutely AMAZING here at the Westin. My husband and I could not have asked for a better experience. Our coordinator, Anna, was always available to answer any and all questions I had throughout the entire wedding planning process. Our sales coordinator, Sheresse, was beyond helpful and accommodating when we were working on our guests' rooms. The food was incredible, which was one of the many compliments my husband and I received during and after the wedding. We honestly could not have asked for a better team to work with and a more beautiful place to host our wedding!
We held our wedding at the Westin Southfield at the end of October and could not be happier with how everything turned out. We had our ceremony in the Atrium and our reception in the Algonquin ballroom. Anna and the entire Westin team were great to work with and went above and beyond to make sure our wedding was perfect. From start to finish they made the planning process easy and were very responsive to all the questions we had along the way. They did a great job managing the room block even as I changed my mind several times on room requests! The day of our wedding went better than we could have ever imagined. The Atrium was a beautiful spot for the ceremony and we couldn't have asked for a better reception. The ballroom was beautiful and the layout was perfect. We've received numerous comments from friends and family raving about the entire evening and how good the food was. People have told us it was the best wedding they've ever been to and the Westin staff's execution on everything was a large reason for that. Service was top notch and the entire team was friendly, engaging, and attentive. Bringing the entire wedding party appetizers and drinks as we took photos was just one of many examples of how the staff went above and beyond. Everyone one loved the appetizers and entrees, and even noticed how well they were able to accommodate special meal requests. The entire day was seamless and we even managed to stay on a fairly tight schedule. The Westin has a very talented and professional team dedicated to superior customer service. We could tell everything possible was being done to make our day perfect and for that we are truly thankful! I would not hesitate to recommend the Westin Southfield for your wedding or event as everything exceeded our expectations.
Booked the Atrium for our son and daughter-in-law's wedding ceremony and reception. Big ticket event. We bought premium menu items and top of the line bar brands. Served about 250 guests and vendors. Beautiful facility and setup, good food, helpful staff, especially the event captain David.
Main disappointments:
Not enough bartenders for the cocktail hour or servers for the dinner, which took well over an hour to serve. Nobody pouring wine at the tables during dinner -- you had to get your own wine at the bar. It wasn't a problem with the servers themselves, there just weren't enough of them. We had a lot of feedback from our guests on these issues.
When I brought it up later with the coordinator, she said that we could have paid more for extra servers and wine pouring at the tables. But we were not made aware of that in advance at all. We would gladly have paid extra for better service had we known it was available and needed.
I can recommend the Westin Atrium as long as you keep these potential pitfalls in mind. Head them off in advance by being proactive with the Westin coordinator on these kinds of details. I would have given it 5 stars if not for the disappointing level of service.

Having our wedding at The Westin was a great experience. Everyone was extremely helpful and it was really convenient to have the ceremony and reception all at one place. We got married in the garden atrium, and it was beautiful! I would recommend it to anyone looking for a venue in the Southfield/Detroit area. The price was reasonable and I didn't have to get up to get my own drink all night :) It was perfect. We even got a suite on our wedding night for free, as well as a bottle of champagne. You can't go wrong with The Westin!
Absolutely wonderful! We had our wedding on 9/9/17 at the Westin and I can't say enough how helpful and professional the entire staff was throughout the whole planning process and the day of. Anna was a fantastic coordinator and kept in contact with my mother and I (more so my mom ;) ) throughout the planning processing keeping us both up-t0-date and aware of any changes, up coming dates, and always available for questions and help. The staff that supported our day went above and beyond! So many of my guests commented to me about how 'nice' and 'fun' the staff was during the celebration and that really made a difference to me.
I would definitely , and already have, recommended the Westin for your up coming wedding. It made the process so much easier and I am forever grateful.
Our Special Day
The Westin Southfield Detroit brought us a wedding that will be treasured for a life time. Got married on 9/23/17, our guests are still talking about our wedding, many have said it was the best wedding they have ever been to.
The hotel staff lead by Anna were very helpful, flexible, and extremely professional. They made what could have been a very stressful process seem unbelievable smooth in planning our dream event. They worked splendid with our wedding coordinator and various vendors. (Example: the flower vendor was the groom mother!) The hotel guests’ accommodations was able to manage our many change requests even beyond the deadline (sorry for the multiple room changes).
Our vendors reported that the venue was very easy to decorate to meet our vision.
Our guests still are raving at least 3-weeks after our day about the quality of the food and service that the Westin provided (Big Props to Chief and Wait Staff).

I had my wedding at the Westin in June. The staff was absolutely incredible - especially Anna. She was so easy to communicate with both over the phone & through email. She made sure that everything was done on time. A few months before the wedding we met with their chef who would be cooking for our wedding & the food was amazing! The week before the wedding we had a meeting with the head of each department. They all introduced themselves so you knew who to go to if you needed something. We went over what the wedding day would look like & it was great to know that everyone was on the same page. The staff did better than I could have imagined the day of our wedding. They were helpful in setting up & making sure everything was done exactly how I wanted it. We had our ceremony in the atrium & reception in the ballroom & I appreciated that they could accommodate for our large wedding of about 240 people. I would highly recommend having your wedding at the Westin! It was an absolutely beautiful day & the staff was incredible! Everything I dreamed about!
We had our wedding at the Westin inside of the Atrium. This venue is absolutely beautiful, once my husband and I saw it we had our hearts set on it. Anna was really helpful in helping us figure out what type of package and services would best fit our needs, we had a lot of particular requests and A LOT of questions which caused some confusion along the way but everyone was super nice and helpful. The staff was a pleasure to work with, they met with us just a few days before the wedding to go over everything with us for the day of. The day came together beautifully, I would definitely recommend the Westin to anyone. I would specifically recommend the Atrium if you want to have a non-traditional wedding venue that is gorgeous and doesn't require a ton of decor.

What a Great Venue! Team was awesome to work with and very easy to get along with. They catered to any needs we had and couldn't of done it without them. I would choose them over and over again if I had to. Food was phenomenal and so was the service.

My husband and I had our wedding at the atrium and it was gorgeous! It was a very unique venue unlike any other and our guests were in love with how different it was. You get the outdoor feel while still being indoor. Anna made the whole process very easy and helped us out with every detail of our wedding. The only improvement I would've liked was better service with the servers when it came to the food. Otherwise, our wedding was absolutely lovely thanks to the staff at the Westin.
When I first saw pictures of the Westin Southfield on the knot, I knew that I needed to have my wedding here! I was able to make my dream come true and booked my wedding ceremony and reception to be held in the Atrium on October 14, 2016.
The whole planning process was actually pretty easy for the most part.
We got to attend a personal tasting to pick out all the aspects of our menu for the evening(everything that we tried was incredible.)
All of the staff members emailed me back within 24 hours or sooner anytime that I emailed with any sort of question.
The week of the wedding, We went to a meeting where we got to meet every single person that would be on staff for our wedding, the chef, the head of the banquet staff, the event coordinators, the GM of the hotel, even the head of the maid service to make sure all of our hotel block rooms were correct. I was very nice and it showed that they really cared that every detail would be perfect.
We also booked our rehearsal dinner at the Westin the night before in a separate banquet room, the food and service was amazing.
We had a room block, and the bridal party had a hospitality suite to get ready in, which was a huge and very nice space to get ready in! I would definitely recommend it for anyone who is getting married here.
On the day of the wedding, everything went perfectly. I can only remember one little detail getting confused and as soon I told one of the event coordinators, it was fixed within seconds. Anna and Kelly (The event coordinators) were attentive, friendly, and did an amazing job.
The head of the banquets that night continuously checked to make sure everything was perfect. Even the staff that was working that night was very helpful and great. The food was honestly the best food I have ever had at a wedding ever. I have had numerous people tell me the exact same thing. I am so happy that I was able to have my wedding at the Westin. Not only was it absolutely gorgeous in the Atrium, but the staff and the atmosphere made it an absolutely perfect weekend.
We had our wedding and reception in the atrium and got amazing feedback from guests about how amazing the food was. The ambiance was just what we wanted for an enchanted forest theme. The ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception was seemless and the staff was supportive and involved throughout the process. Even giving me a drink as I freaked out before going down the isle :) The only drawback was that there was a mixup with our rooms and the people we chose to be in certain rooms ended up getting different rooms :/
We had our ceremony and reception in the atrium. It was perfect if you want an outdoor feel, but don't want to risk having a outdoor wedding with such unpredictable weather. Since the atrium is attached to the hotel guests did not have to travel and had the option to send the night. No need to coordinate transportation! We also, were able to get ready at the hotel prior and guests could come back after the wedding to continue to celebrate. The food was delicious and there are endless options. We also, had a late night slider bar, which our guests loved! The staff truly care about their guests and are with you each step of the way during the planning process, as well as the day of. Having our wedding with them was the best decision we made!
I had my wedding in the ballroom which was a beautiful space. The sales manager and team was very efficient and easy to work with. I felt like the team at the Westin felt my wedding event was just as important to them than it was to me. Communication was great between all team members. They were very flexible and all so kind. I felt that there was great organization throughout the whole process of planning and on the final day. I would definitely recommend this location for any big event. The team there was great. Anna and Kelly helped me throughout, made me feel relaxed throughout. I'm very thankful.
My husband and I got married in the atrium Oct. 8, 2016 and every little detail was perfect! Anna and Kelly did not miss a detail in the planning process and my night was perfect because of staff like Dave (my banquet captain), Mark (my banquet manager), Michael White (my server), Chef Jared, and of course Anna. The food was hot, the bars were stocked, and everyone was having a great time. The Westin is perfect for your wedding too! They are very helpful, go above and beyond, and are there every step of the way. It was so nice having the whole day inside the Westin. Dave our banquet captain remembered little details (my husband loves Boston coolers and he surprised us with one!), remembered some very important heirloom rings that would have been forgotten, and made sure our night was perfect down to the last detail. The Westin team is helpful, on top of things, and very hospitable. One more shout out to the night auditor, Byron, who made sure the small issue we had with rooms was corrected right away.
The Westin made our wedding flawless. The staff were incredibly helpful and went above and beyond to make our wedding perfect. They were excited and understanding about our requests regarding an innovative vegetarian menu. They treated us with respect and professionalism at every encounter we had. Our guests were comfortable and taken care of throughout their stay, and were equally blown away by the service. I only have good things to say about the staff there and would recommend them to absolutely everyone!
My husband and I had our wedding ceremony and reception at the Westin in the garden atrium and it was amazing! The venue is absolutely beautiful and everything came together even better than we could have ever imagined! The entire staff was great as well! They were so attentive and very genuine, truly wanting to make this the best night of our lives! I highly recommend having your wedding or any event at the Westin! The food is amazing, and all of our guests were raving all night about it! We are so happy with our choice and could not have asked for anything better!
My husband and I had our reception at the Westin Southfield in the atrium and it was perfect. The setting was beautiful, the food was delicious, and every person that we interacted with was helpful and accommodating.
We planned this wedding from afar as we both live in the South, but Anna and Kelly were so good at responding promptly to calls and emails that I was never stressed about being far away while planning. They were extremely flexible and always found a way to make sure that what I requested happened. I felt comfortable asking them for anything and knew without a doubt that they would take care of it for me. They were incredibly sweet and professional.
The food was unbelievable. I was personally pretty obsessed with all of the appetizers that we ordered (especially the shrimp tostada!) the salads and entrees were also delicious.
At one point, a Westin employee personally ushered most of the reception to the dance floor because I had said that I wanted people to dance at my wedding. That moment demonstrates what the whole experience was like- no matter how small or off hand the request the Westin made it happen!
It was an amazing night and if I had to do everything over- I wouldn't change a thing.
The Westin Southfield and Garden Atrium exceeded our expectations. We had our daughter's entire wedding weekend in the hotel with over 150 out of towners staying at the hotel. The staff was beyond accommodating. We had a Friday night dinner/Saturday lunch in the hotel and the wedding ceremony and reception in the Atrium. They met with us whenever we asked during the planning process, returned all our phone calls and emails in a timely fashion. They were most gracious at handling our request for all vegetarian food for the entire weekend. The catering staff was amazing. Even with Michelle Ray leaving her position 10 days before our event, the rest of the staff picked up right where she left off without a hiccup. Fred, Chef Jared, Calice and Kelly went above and beyond. The venue is beautiful, the hotel staff is amazing and wouldn't hesitate to have another function here. Our guests were blown away by the hospitality of the hotel and beauty of the Atrium
We had our ceremony and reception in the garden atrium and it was truly amazing! We wanted a venue that was unique - not your typical ballroom. The atrium far exceeded what we were looking for. It’s like having an outdoor wedding with air conditioning and a roof! Anna, Kelly, and the entire Westin staff were so easy to work with, and were attentive to our every need. They quickly answered emails and provided all answers to any questions we had. The whole planning process was seamless and made easy. We had guests coming up to us all night complimenting the venue and how “awesome” it was. They also couldn’t stop raving about the food. I heard from many people that it was the best wedding food they have ever had and they wished they could have doggy bags (we had plated chicken marsala & filet). It was so nice to sit back, relax and enjoy my wedding since everything was taken care of for me so perfectly and on schedule. I couldn’t have asked for a better wedding experience!
Michelle Ray and the entire team/staff of the Westin Southfield went above and beyond to help us create the perfect wedding ceremony and reception experience for our guests. Everyone was extremely organized and professional throughout the entire planning process. We had a unique Hindu wedding ceremony that required a lot of special requests and Michelle Ray and her staff were up for the challenge. We truly appreciate the wonderful staff and service that we received at the Westin Southfield!
Our wedding and the Westin Atrium was absolutely beautiful. Thanks to the amazing backdrop and natural light, every photograph that my photographer or our guests took was truly unique. My husband and I didn't want to get married in a traditional ballroom, and didn't want to chance outside weather.. this was the perfect compromise. A beautiful mix of modern and classic styles. Michelle was our wedding coordinator and she went above and beyond throughout our entire wedding process, allowing us to be as creative as needed to make our big day so special. She always answered my questions and concerns, eased my anxiousness and made sure the rehearsal dinner and day of went smoothly. Our guests raved about the food, the atmosphere, and the convenience of being attached to a hotel. We are so happy to have chosen the Westin.. it was everything we could have ever hoped for.
I am giving 4 stars just because I feel like there were challenges with the venue layout that could have been addressed. Otherwise, a hands down 5 star :)
We were really happy with our experience throughout, and impressed by the professionalism and kindness of the entire team. Mark and Jordan were great, and I truly appreciate all Michelle's help along the way assuring all my questions were answered and helping me create such a beautiful day. She was also quick to respond and get back to you. Hands down impressed. Beautiful venue, food was delicious, and staff was easy to work with. We literally had a meeting with the whole venue staff and myself and my husband a few days before to make sure all questions were answered and everyone was on the same page, from the Valet, to hotel rooms, to the chef, etc.
The Food Tasting they do beforehand was off the charts, very impressed by the care and feedback they take during the tasting. Whether it was to put a little extra sauce on the dish or cook the meat a certain way. Couldn't have had a better, more thoughtful Chef.
I would definitely recommend the Westin to any future brides. As for negative feedback, I don't really have anything that sticks out, but here are a few thoughts/suggestions:
The help of the entire staff was amazing throughout the whole process. Upon arrival the day of, everyone was great helping us unload, and all were eager to help. Many compliments from mother and sisters on how much easier the staff made it. The only improvement would be regarding the following day when packing things up and trying to get out of there, we could have used a little more help. It would have been nice to have the same level of assistance.
I would recommend to try to make another location for the wedding cake to work. Having it below the stairs was not the best. The background for photos was bad, and literally no one saw us cut the cake, not even our parents. It was a bummer since that was a special event for the wedding that we were looking forward to. I know they are restricted on location due to the kitchen but its such an iconic part of a wedding.
Not necessarily a recommendation for the Westin per-say but something to keep in mind for you future Westin Brides... We decided to have a stage/riser for the ceremony. Great advice, helped everyone see us very clear. However, on the riser, make sure you do a simple decor arch of some sort. We had an arch on the riser that we had to stand inside vs. in front, and due to that, folks on the very ends (mostly our wedding party lined up in the front) could not see us get married.
When serving the cake, it was not mentioned that there were multiple flavors for the guests to choose, also coffee was never served, there were only a few people who specifically asked for it that were able to get some. So I would just remind the staff to make sure they do this.
Lastly, during announcements into the reception, I would recommend to do the entrance starting at the bottom and come up the dance floor. We did it from the top of the stairs down to the head table and the big pillar blocked a lot of the view for people.
Our July 2015 wedding reception at the Southfield Westin was completely wonderful!
From beginning to end, Michelle Ray and the entire staff were attentive to our every need. They were prompt in answering emails and phone calls, providing all answers to our questions and requests.
We were very impressed by the beautiful tasting meal that was presented to us. We met before the event with all staff members involved. They were there to accommodate us in every way with room reservations, parking, dining details. They even stored our flowers until the next morning. The Atrium offers a lovely garden environment that is nice for any time of the year.
I would highly recommend the Southfield Westin for wedding receptions.
I cannot say enough wonderful things about my August 2015 wedding in the atrium of the Southfield Westin. Michelle Ray was absolutely wonderful to work with, and made sure every single detail of our wedding was perfect. She arranged for us to meet with all of the Westin staff the week before our wedding and everyone was a delight to work with. We felt like royalty the entire day - from the beautiful breakfast spread that was sent up to my room the morning of the wedding while I was getting ready to making sure our glasses were never even half empty during dinner and the reception. Every detail was perfection - we couldn't have asked for a more perfect day! In addition, the atrium venue is exquisite - our guests keep telling us how beautiful and unique our wedding was, as well as how wonderful the food and service were. When we look back on the day we wouldn't change a thing - thank you to the wonderful team at the Southfield Westin for making our dream day a reality!
We had our wedding at the Westin Southfield in July 2015 in the atrium. Everything was perfect and I have no regrets at all! The day of the wedding went smoothly, we did not have to worry about anything. The venue looked absolutely beautiful. We worked with Michelle Ray throughout the planning process and she was amazing! She kept us relaxed, on track and was very responsive and patient with us. We worked with Calice for booking rooms and she was extremely accommodating. The food tasting event was our favorite part of the process - it was a very nice event. We had a fantastic wedding experience and would highly recommend this venue!
I can't say enough about the Westin! Michelle was our wedding planner and she was amazing! She always had everything organized and answered any questions we had quickly and made sure we were always happy. The hotel was very accommodating and went above and beyond for us. We were treated with the upmost respect and you could tell they all truly cared and wanted our wedding to be perfect! Michelle was there through our whole process from when we first booked the Westin all the way to the day of the wedding and I couldn't have done it without her. She made sure every detail was perfect and she is very easy to work with and get along with. We had our wedding in the atrium and it was breathtaking! You can't compare any other venue to the atrium because there is nothing else like it, it's 1 of a kind and I would recommend the Southfield Westin and Michelle Ray to everyone!
We just want to thank the staff at the Westin for their support of the out of town guests for our wedding. The property is beautiful and the guests enjoyed their stay!

I cannot express enough how much we adore and appreciate the Westin Southfield. They went above and beyond on our big day. Michelle Ray was truly amazing. I emailed her often and she always responded promptly. No idea or request was too small.
We had our ceremony and reception in the atrium and it could not have been more beautiful. Our dream wedding came to life thanks to the Westin team. The food was amazing, the hotel rooms were great, and we always felt like we were the only ones, never second best.
Even though it was a rainy day it was shining bright in the atrium. Everyone (wait staff, security, Michelle and Tracy, etc.) were wonderful!! I cannot say enough how happy we were with our big day.
Don't hesitate, book your wedding at The Westin Southfield. You will not regret it!
My wife and I had our wedding reception at the Westin Southfield and we were very pleased with the entire process and would reccomend it anyone searching for a venue.
The staff was terrific in guiding us through the wedding process, keeping us on track and making sure everything was taken care of on our wedding day. The banquet hall chef even met with us when we chose the meal, and a few days before our wedding.
Michelle, our wedding coordinator, also helped suggest other vendors to help things go smoothly. She introduced us to the entire staff during the week of the wedding to make sure we had no issues.
When the wedding day came everything was in place. The ballroom looked great and the food came out perfect. A number of guests also commented that the steaks were among the best they had ever had. We even received a compliment from a guest who said the cucumber in his salad was the "longest cucumber ever". I don't know if said guest measures all cucumbers, but I will take him at his word.
Most importantly the bar remained stocks and the guests had a great time. The nearby bar outside of the ballroom also stayed open late for our guests and was open early in the morning so we could curb our hangovers with a reasonably-priced buffett.
As I mentioned, I would suggest anyone give the Westin a shot. They went over and above what they needed to do. They scheduled private food tastings for us, offered free charger plates for the wedding day and even gave us points from our wedding purchases that we can use for future Westin stays.
A great choice all around!
When my husband and I were looking for venues, one of our most important criteria was for the venue to provide a unique flair and ambience - the Atrium definitely does that. Even though this is in hotel, this is not your typical hotel wedding venue. The Atrium provides the feel of being outdoors while being resistant to the temperamental Michigan weather.
We had a guest list of nearly 350 people and the Atrium was large enough to meet our needs. Our wedding day was non-traditional because we had two ceremonies from different faith traditions and the staff was very accommodating to our needs in this regard. They were willing to work with us and create a schedule that fit what we wanted to do; many venues will not offer this level of flexibility.
We communicated with Michelle throughout the year and she was always prompt and thorough in her responses. Leading up to the wedding she arranged a private menu tasting for us since my husband and his family live out of town. She also assisted in having our vendors tour the venue prior to the wedding, so that they knew what they had to work with.
The week of the wedding it seemed like the whole staff of the Westin was focused on having our wedding work perfectly. A few days prior to the wedding we met with all of the managers and executive staff of different departments who played a role in our wedding in a boardroom style. It gave us the safety and security to know that the wedding would be what we envisioned.
On the day of the wedding everything went smoothly, to the extent that it could, and we only experienced a few minor blips due to a packed schedule. They delivered the appetizers to the hospitality suite which allowed me to enjoy the delicious food throughout the costume changes. The hospitality suite was a spacious room for myself and all the bridesmaids to get ready in.
We received many compliments on the food from our guests. The bartenders were friendly and accommodating. Also, the day after the wedding we received some assistance in packing up the many pounds of leftover wedding cake. Overall, we had the best day of our lives.
Being a wedding photographer, I had very high expectations for what I wanted my wedding day to look like. Choosing the Westin was one of the best decisions I made and I wouldn't change a single thing. Leading up to our big day, Michelle Ray, helped us with all of our catering needs and so much more. She arranged a time for us to meet with their entire team the week of the wedding and it really put us as ease knowing all of these people were here to make sure our night went smoothly. The staff was extremely nice and welcoming and they were able to explain what they would be doing the day of our wedding. On the day of, my bridesmaids were able to get ready in the hospitality suite which had more than enough room for 8 girls to get their hair and makeup done and had more than enough room for photos before the ceremony. Our ceremony and reception were both held in the beautiful garden atrium. The venue fulfilled my dream of having an outdoor wedding without having to be outdoor. The staff did an amazing job making sure all of the tables were set up on time and they were even able to quickly replace a broken vase that we had accidentally knocked over during photos. The food was incredible and all of my guests were happy with the endless amounts of champagne being served. Someone was always checking in with Andrew and I to make sure we had a drink while being overwhelmed by all our family and friends surrounding us. We loved our suite that we stayed in after the wedding and we were able to enjoy a delicious breakfast with our family and friends the next day. The Westin is a place I highly recommend if you're looking for a great place to make memories and know that you'll be taken care of before and after your big day.
I cannot say enough about the Westin team and what they did for our wedding day! On the biggest day of your life you plan and coordinate to have everything how you always imagined. The Westin went above and beyond any expectation my husband and I ever had. My highlights and reasons why everyone should use them are:
1. Incredible staff - they took the time to get to know my husband and I and how we imagined our wedding day. We met with the entire team the week before and reviewed everything in detail. The attention and care we received made us feel like family. Absolutely love them! Ask for Michelle Ray.
2. Perfect Venue - we chose the Atrium and the rustic, outdoor feel was exactly what we were looking for. They helped put together the reception of our dreams. It's gorgeous to see the trees lit up at night, having the running waterfalls in the background, and the dance floor as the central focal point. It's a huge space for a great party.
3. Service - at our wedding we felt like celebrities. Our glasses were never empty! Chef came out during dinner to check in on our meals. The head of security checked in throughout the night to see how things were going. I'm telling you - that's service!!
4. The Hotel - I mean, seriously! I had a huge suite to have all the ladies get ready in. My hair and make-up team were onsite during the morning. We loved the Westin Spa products and the beds are so comfortable. We had almost half of our wedding stay the weekend.
5. You won't regret your decision. There are so many important things to account for and decide on regarding your wedding day and happily ever after. You already made the biggest decision of your life in saying "Yes" - let this one be easy. Choose the Westin and you can have the time of your life knowing you are truly taken care of.

Me and Mike could not be more impressed and blown away by the attention to detail and attentiveness that the staff provided us this whole weekend. They made our wedding days so flawless and perfect we couldn’t have asked for anything more. Westin and their staff have definitely shown us what excellent customer service means, and exceeded our expectations in every way by their exceptional service. With so many things to worry about during a wedding, Westin staff were such an excellent group to work with,they alleviated so many of our stresses, which means the world to a bride and groom. We cant begin to thank them enough, we were so so happy with everything !!
The Westin is definitely someplace I would highly recommend to family and friends in the future as an amazing venue with unbelievable customer service.
My husband and I had our reception at the Westin-in the atrium- on August 2, 2013. It was absolutely fabulous! The entire process, from a tour to a booking, to a tasting (even two tastings!), and the service the actual day was phenomenal. Meagan, the wedding coordinator, is fabulous to work with and she will help you with anything you need. The accommodations with the hotel were also great---we had over 50 rooms booked for the night. I can't say enough about the quality and kindness the Westin displayed.

We had our wedding in the atrium room this past December (12/28/12). It was beautiful!! We worked with Meagan Mcphail who was well organized, prepared and was willing to work with us with some special requests that we had. We were able to attend a food tasting event, which helped us decide on menu choices. We were able to setup a timeline of when everything was going to happen on the big day... and the Westin helped us keep to that schedule. We had around 130 guests and with 2 bars, we had ample service and our guests didn't have to wait long! Overall we were very satisfied!!
Beautiful venue provided an overall unique experience! Food was delish! Make sure to work with vendors that have experienced working here prior to make sure day goes smoothly due to its uniqueness. My only complaint is we had some difficulty working with the venue coordinator. She also was unable to meet with us and help us figure things out at the rehearsal.
The Atrium in the Wesin Southfield was the perfect setting for our August 4th 2012 Wedding! Michigan weather is unpredictable and having an air conditioned/covered venue that looked like we were outside was absolutly beautiful. Meagan Mcphail was our contact and she was a huge help and very easy to talk to and put me at ease when planning the reception. Guests of the wedding raved about the setting and food and everyone had a great time. If you're looking for a venue that's not just a plain ballroom with 4 walls I highly suggest the Atruim!
Ceremony and reception were held in the gorgeous atrium connected to the Westin. Perfect for that outdoor feel without having to worry about unpredictable Michigan weather. Michelle Ray, our event coordinator at the Westin was superb- always organized and definitely helped make sure the day came together as we had hoped. All the staff (executive chef, servers, banquet manager, etc.) were professional and friendly. They made us feel valued and special. Food was great and received many compliments. Many guests who stayed at the hotel raved about the comfortable beds.
My bridal party and I got ready in the honeymoon suite room and it was perfect for our hair and make-up. The room was spacious enough for at least 15 people at any given time and the accomidations were very nice. We also reserved a room block for our guests and we all stayed on the same floor which was very nice for after the event. The staff were very accomidating and very nice. The hotel was beautiful, we took pictures before the wedding with the bridal party in their lobby, which they were okay with.
The beds and pillows are very comfortable.
We LOVED working with the Westin and are SOOOO happy with having our wedding here in 2011! We absolutely loved it and could not have asked for better service or accommodations. Everyone is so welcoming and kind and the hotel itself is very nice and on the higher end of hotels. We are very very happy with the Westin! Thank you so much, Tracey and everyone at the Westin!
