I put some disclaimers at the end, so feel free to scroll if you don't want to read my long glowing review and just want to get the quick rundown. My husband and I just had our wed...ding on Saturday and I cannot say enough good things about the wedding and it's execution, from the moment we booked our date, to the end of the reception. We chose to have our ceremony outside and then our reception in the main tasting room, with cocktail hour in the barrel room/adjacent patio. Their event team was absolutely fabulous; Courtney and Faith were with us every step of the way. They were incredibly knowledgeable and helpful in decision making and super quick to respond. I can't think of a time where it took longer than a few hours for them to reply to an email. On the actual day of our wedding, they were super efficient and streamlined our event. We didn't have a rehearsal and it didn't matter, things were so incredibly smooth. They made sure everybody was where they needed to be, when they needed to be there. It was outstanding. From the smallest details, to the most obvious, they were on point. I literally didn't have to worry about anything other than walking down the aisle. Courtney and Faith were crucial to our day and I would absolutely not change a thing about our wedding day, a large part due to them and their incredible work.
A couple of need-to-know things:
-They have a list of 6 or 7 catering companies that you MUST choose from. They include some great ones-highly recommend Spilled Milk...but if you have a certain company in mind, be aware.
-The bridal suite for the main tasting room/outside ceremony is really small. I had 6 bridesmaids and with the hair/makeup artist and my mom it was really tight trying to get everyone in, steamed and dressed. It all worked out, but just a tad stressful.
- I don't think this is anything that could be controlled, but come dance-time, it did get very hot in the tasting room. Again, its a big space with 110 people in it and it was July in the DMV so just something to be aware of!
-Finally, you can only get into the bridal suite/drop things off 2 hours before your ceremony time. The vendors aren't allowed to set up until 2 hours before as well. This is incredibly tight, especially if you aren't located near the venue. This includes all decoration and the beer/wine if you are providing it yourself. We had fairly simple decorations, so it didn't end up being a huge deal, but again, just adds a little extra stress in the days leading up to it.
ALL THAT BEING SAID, I WOULD CHOOSE THE WINERY AT BULL RUN AGAIN AND AGAIN AND RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE THINKING ABOUT BOOKING WITH THEM...AND THOSE NOT THINKING ABOUT IT! DOOOOOO IT!
