Great spot!
The Witte was a DREAM! From top to bottom! They have plenty of venue options, and Stephanie was so kind and always available for any questions or updates. It’s a gorgeous (we got married on the river, it’s amazing), with a great staff dedicated to how you want your day to go.
There are not enough kind words to show the gratitude we feel for being able to start off our marriage at this beautiful place! Must book!
Contacted them for pricing to host our wedding reception. It was a horrible experience. Complete waste of time. After a week of waiting, I finally received a call pertaining to the availability of our wedding date. The lady who called me, provided spotty details on the phone. In which I asked for a email explaining pricing. She agreed, verified my email address. However I received zero information to date. If this is the way they handle potential clients , I don’t want to know how they handle their actual clients.
I fell in love with The Witte the second I walked in and saw it. Their back lawn and outdoor ampitheatre were everythibg i had dreamed of for my wedding since i was a little girl! Our wedding was GORGEOUS because we had a gorgeous background! I think all the guests were really blown away by cocktail hour in the Dinosaur exhibit! The witte was always quick to answer questions and never had an issue with us coming up there randomly to get measurements or take photos we needed for vendors! Please consider the witte for your wedding you will NOT be disappointed!
The Mays Family Center is BEAUTIFUL, and if I could do it again, I would still get married there. The space provides a high-end feel that you can really transform and with it being miles away from The Pearl and downtown, out of town guests have quick access to great tourist spots without the experience feeling 'touristy.' And can we talk about the beautiful glass windows, access to the river and wrap-around porch?! SO lovely!
With that said, the service I received from my event coordinator, Roger, was very frustrating. To say Roger's communication left a lot to be desired is an understatement. My photographer was flying in from NYC, and thus would only have 24 hrs to scout the space. She asked for event and venue pictures several months out. I reached out via phone and email for over three months, reminded him and person and only got 2 pictures after I asked my wedding planner to get involved. I had a similar experience having to hunt him down to make my initial and final payment (again, planner had to help get me in contact with him for the latter). A couple of weeks before my wedding, a different coordinator, named Alyssa, sent me a note that she was going to be the one working my wedding, and not Roger. Not a big deal, but again, information that would have been nice coming from him. (Alyssa did a great job btw) Finally, I had a question about whether or not I could have glass beer bottles in the space, instead of cans, and never heard from Roger. My caterer ended up finding out for me.
The Mays Center is beautiful, and at the end of the day I had an absolutely perfect wedding there (like I said I'd book it again), but PLEASE make sure you have a wedding planner if you book the Witte. You will need the additional support from them, as you might not get it from your event coordinator.
Roger was incredible! He made sure that our day went as smoothly and perfectly as possible. The Witte is a beautiful venue and the guests loved it.
Roger is absolutely amazing to work with!! He is extremely professional, responsive, and knows exactly what he is doing. Everything was on schedule and as expected for our wedding, which went off without any hiccups. Roger was easy to schedule meetings with and very efficient during those meetings. He is also thoroughly helpful with suggestions for vendors, ideas for layouts, and practicalities. The Witte is obviously a gorgeous place to get married, but working with Roger made it soooo easy!
Jose and Robert were phenomenal! They answered all of our questions and were so accommodating to our needs. Wedding turned out great!
The place was absolutely gorgeous, despite the construction. In the end, we had a fantastic event and we all had a blast, but dealing with the coordinators was not smooth sailing at all. We initially worked with Jo Anna, who had great reviews across the board and was the selling point. Mid-way through, she transitioned to another role in the museum and we were assigned Roger and Amy. There were a lot of curve balls thrown at us (as last minute as 3 days before the wedding), such as room plan changes, catering vendor changes, new room usage rules that impacted our plans... it was very stressful at times. In the end, most of the issues were resolved, but I would highly recommend having better communication with clients as soon as these arise as opposed to last minute arrangements. The grounds are beautiful and it was definitely one of the best venues for its price.
The Witte was by far the best venue I considered. They don't charge all of the hidden fees, are cheaper than most other venues (even if they didn't charge the extra fees) and people are always impressed when you say the Witte. It's just a pretty, cool place to get married. They let us bring our own alcohol (another HUGE cost saver) and were super easy to work with.
I had my reception right outside the Prassel, in the courtyard. It was beautiful. I will give credit to the caterer and wedding planners, but the Witte is a beautiful place. They were very easy to work with and allow you to bring in alcohol.
I looked at so many places in San Antonio and the Witte had it all! They have a grogeous outside courtyard and amphitheatre, but a nice indoor area as well which can be used as a rain plan (I ended up using both). I also loved that the South Texas Heritage Museum is open so guest could tour it during cocktail hour and have something to do. The Witte also lets you bring in your own alcohol (with a TABC-certified bartender serving) which literally saved us thousands of dollars. Both of the coordinators were extremely friendly and easy to work with, I cannot say enough good things about this venue!!
Awesome venue with great staff. Loved being able to have the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception all at the same place.
We just recently had our wedding at the Witte Museum in San Antonio and they were absolutely amazing! All of our guest loved the idea of it being in a museum and loved that they got to view the dino gallery during our cocktail hour! The staff was wonderful as well and they were very efficient in everything they did. It was very affordable for it being in a museum, I think that the only thing I would have liked is if they included an extra hour in for if you were doing both the ceremony and the reception there like we did so you didn't have to pay for both the cost of the ceremony and the cost of an extra hour so that the reception wasn't rushed because the total time included the ceremony. Between them and our caterer our wedding was wonderful!
The Witte Museum is a beautiful venue to use for a wedding. The buildings and gardens make the outside areas perfect for an outdoor wedding, like we had, and it does not require much decoration. The auditoriums also make it easy to have the reception indoors, like we did. The in side requires a bit more decorating to really tailor the space to your personal taste.
I feel like our wedding at the Witte Museum was a dream come true! Jo'Anna was such an amazing help to us throughout the whole planning process and welcomed us immediately (being a same sex couple, this wasn't the experience with all vendors throughout this planning process.) The witte provides such a beautiful atmosphere, not many decorations are needed to enhance what's already there. We are so fortunate and blessed to have had our ceremony and reception at such an outstanding location in San Antonio!
We had our reception at The Witte and it was beautiful. I wouln't have it anywhere else. It had been raining the whole week and the staff were on top of it, giving me options and coming up with plan B. At the end we were able to have the reception at the courtyard, absolutely beautiful. One of the staff was there the whole night, very very helpful. Absolutely would recommend the place.
My wedding and reception occurred at the Witte. Autumn was very helpful. It was so nice to have the guests all in one place. It was all flat with no stairs, which was nice for my elderly guests.
I had an amazing time at the Witte. They were very helpful. They were on top on things and most importantly they helped me a lot with decorating the last minute stuff! Loved it!!
I had the pleasure of working with three staff members and all of them were so courteous and professional!
I had a few bumps in the road but they were there every step of the way and accomodated us so well.
Definetely recommend!
The staff here Rocks! i rented the small house to have a children's reception and they took care of everything i needed. the space is very good and the outdoor area looks beautiful at night.
Everyone at the Witte was so helpful from start to finish. They were willing to meet with me or discuss details with me as often as I wanted! Beautiful indoor/outdoor setting, areas were spotless and well-maintained, and the staff was spectacular!
UNBELIEVABLE experience! We had our wedding and reception at the Witte and it was magical! Lauren was a wonderful right hand helper and provided the utmost customer service. I couldn't be happier with our locale and highly recommend!
It was in a museum which was different and it was a blank canvas which allowed us creativity. It also had an outdoor site which is where we were married.;All equipment may not be available. It rained earlier in the day so we could not use the portable microphone outside which is where our wedding was. We paid for the equipment but were not able to use it and didn't get a refund.
unique place for a wedding. reception hall does need renovation and new carpet.;dance floor is small. needs new carpet/painting.
Very nice atmosphere and great location.;The event coordinator talked me into having my gift table outside in view of the security guard that was hired by the museum. During my reception the guard was not on duty the entire time like he should and most of my cards with money and gift cards were stolen.
