The venue itself is gorgeous and I was very happy with the location- we had a lovely lakeside ceremony with a reception at the ballroom. I give four stars because communication did prove difficult often unfortunately. Also, there were a number of other weddings on the same day and weekend as mine which made me feel rushed and overwhelmed. We had to switch rehearsal dinner plans as they double booked. Make sure you also have another site for guests to stay as the inn doesn’t have enough rooms for all guests, especially with numerous weddings happening. Scheduling and communication could have been better but the wedding itself ended up being wonderful. The food was delicious.
We had our rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception at the Woodbound Inn and we could not have asked for a better venue! Max was fantastic throughout the entire planning process, he was responsive and understanding about all the stress and worries that comes with planning a wedding. For the rehearsal and the day of events, he checked in periodically to see if we needed anything but made sure to give us our space as well. Not only was the venue incredibly reasonably priced, but they also allowed us to have plenty of yard games and an after party down on the beach- complete with a bonfire and s'mores. We were also allowed to bring our homebrew beer and hard cider to the after party! We loved that it was the same location for everything, including lodging for the nights so there were no transportation concerns (if we had 1 complaint it was that there was a 2 night minimum for the hotel/cabins so a lot of people didn't end up staying over, but that's minor in the grand scheme of things). The cabins were wonderful, it was so nice to have our own little "town" as the cabin area was entirely people from the wedding! The view down at the beach is breathtaking and the ballroom is a great reception space. Everyone raved about what a wonderful location it all was. If you want a outdoorsy/rustic wedding, this is the spot!
We had our wedding at the Woodbound Inn and we had an amazing experience working with Max. Like many other couples, we had to postpone our wedding due to the pandemic, and Max was understanding and flexible with us as we picked a new date. We also had our rehearsal at the Woodbound Inn, and Max worked with us and our officiant to make sure we had everything we needed for the wedding. Our ceremony was supposed to be on the beach and we thought it was going to rain, but Max helped us plan and visualize exactly how the wedding could go inside. The rehearsal went longer than expected, but he timed it to ensure dinner was hot and ready for us afterwards. On the wedding day, Max communicated with me throughout the day to see that we had everything we needed from him and to make sure everything was ready, and because of this everything proceeded as planned. He checked in with us regularly during the wedding and worked to accomplish everything we asked. Max worked seamlessly with the photographers and DJ to make sure everything went smoothly. Our wedding went perfectly because of Max and his team at the Woodbound Inn. We stayed at the Woodbound Inn for four nights around our wedding, and Max ensured that our entire stay was wonderful. On our last night, we had a party of 20 people that wanted to eat at the restaurant and he went above and beyond to accommodate us. Thanks to Max, our whole wedding weekend was perfect!
The Woodbound is an amazing, one stop shop for an all inclusive wedding venue. The only vendors I had to book outside were the JP, music, florist, photography and hair/makeup- but the Woodbound supplied a list of recommended vendors that are familiar with the property. The wedding coordinator, Max, was very professional, attentive and has done everything in events from the bottom to the top in the past so he really understands all the ins and outs of an event. It was so nice and stress free to have him help us choose our linens, table settings, chairs and other rentals which he handled after we picked what we wanted. the price was reasonable and there was so much included in the wedding package, I felt like most of the planning was done for me! Max worker with us through the challenges that COVID presented including last minute planning (about 4 months out from when we booked). It was great to have something local for most of our families and on site accommodations for our out of town guests. Not having to worry about transportation from hotel to venue to reception was so nice. The food was great, venue was beautiful, accommodations were amazing and all the staff was wonderful. Our day was perfect for us and all our guests raved about the wedding!
We just got married this past weekend and all I can say is wow! The food was to die for! (Filet mignon & salmon- both were out of this world!) the service was beyond exceptional! My guests have been reaching out to me all week to make sure to tell me how happy they were with their food and service! Max was by our side every step of the way. THANK YOU!!
Gorgeous venue, as long as you are outside. Ideal for a retreat wedding. We had our wedding ceremony on the beach with Mount Monadnock as the backdrop and it was lovely. Our reception was up the hill in a field fairly close by under a tent--- definitely the way to go. It was not too buggy (although check for ticks afterward!) and the tent set up was very nice. The ballroom (which is another option for the reception) looks super tacky and stuffy, so I would not recommend having your reception there (unless it is in the winter). Also this venue is DOG FRIENDLY! Which was awesome because we got to have our pup be our ring bearer.
The event coordinator was good at planning, but did not ever seem super keen about talking to us. All of the emails sent started with just "hello" and the first few times she emailed me, I had to double check to make sure it wasn't automated. The rest of the office staff seemed annoyed that we were there. The bartenders and food staff were fantastic though! Very hard working and sooo nice.
I was a bit annoyed because about a month before the wedding the event coordinator reached out to me and said that they weren't making 3 of the appetizers that I had picked (which were all vegetarian). She said they weren't popular enough for the chef to make. Instead she offered me a bunch of chicken and bacon options which was not what I was going for. We did a pig roast and that was delicious, but I wanted to have veggie options to counteract that a bit. I just found it a little strange that they offered these options and then said no, when they should have just not listed them as options.
My only other issue was that we had to store our cake pops in my maid of honor's room because they didn't have any fridge space... that was a bit of a bummer. It worked out but how do you not have any fridge space to store our desserts?
I really loved this place (its basically camp for adults) and will be happy to visit as a guest in the future. I'm just glad I don't have to worry about planning anything with them again.
I want to start with saying my wedding ended up being beautiful and everyone raved about our incredible food and laid back atmosphere! At the same time, I want to be completely honest about my experience with The Woodbound Inn so other future brides are not blindsided the way I felt I was. I booked the Woodbound Inn for my wedding close to 2 years out because I fell in love with the venue’s wooded atmosphere, the amount of guests it could accommodate overnight, the reasonable price, and the DELICIOUS food. I booked under the impression that all my guests would be able to book rooms onsite and that the estimated prices I was given would stay around the same. I also loved that I could have my rehearsal dinner and wedding reception all on one property. After that first visit, I felt really comfortable and thought I would be in good hands, seeing as how I had never planned a wedding and didn’t know much about the process. I felt I would be able to rely on the onsite coordinator after our first meeting, as she was really helpful during our initial visit. Unfortunately, that just wasn’t the case. The venue was not upfront in their communications with me especially about my guests being able to book at the venue. I was told all of my guests could be accommodated onsite which ended up not being the case. I had to scramble within months of my wedding to find a place for them to stay and a way to transport them to the venue. There were significant changes to the rental policies which were applied to my wedding even though I booked the venue almost 2 years prior. With all of the miscommunications and changes I had to make, I ended up needing to spend well over the amount that was estimated to me when I originally booked the venue. I had many venue related questions the year leading up to my wedding which were nearly impossible to get answered. I had to call and email multiple times to get in touch with the wedding coordinator, Andrea. The venue did not offer support with running the rehearsal the day before my wedding. There was also no support around decor for the wedding ceremony or reception. This wouldn’t have been a problem for me except I wasn’t even allowed to start decor until 10am the morning of my wedding with my ceremony being at 4pm. I had to hire a day of coordinator to make sure that I didn't feel totally overwhelmed the day of my wedding. It could be just me but I imagined that working with my wedding venue would be an experience where I felt special and supported since I have never been a bride/planned a wedding before. My experience working with the Woodbound Inn left me feeling overwhelmed, unsupported, and definitely not special. I felt like just another person having another wedding at The Woodbound Inn. I know this was not intentional and I think that this venue just simply had too much on their plate with the amount of weddings/events they were hosting in comparison the the amount of staff they had. For me, this would have been totally understandable if they had been upfront and honest about it instead of leaving me floundering on my own wondering if this is just what it is like to plan a wedding with a venue. Again, my wedding was a great event and I loved it. However, if knew just how much stress it would have been to plan my wedding at the Woodbound Inn, I would have made many different choices that would have reduced a lot of stress, cost, and negative emotions in the year leading up to my wedding.
We booked the woodbound for the view - you can’t buy that! The playbarn is also stunning.
The hotel itself is a little tired, and over priced for wedding guests, but it meant everyone could stay there.
Andrea, the coordinator pulled everything off seamlessly on the day, despite my worries that leading up to the event communication wasn’t great.
One thing to note, this is kind of a DIY venue - we decorated the ceremony site and barn. Not a problem, but need to factor this into the morning of the event.
They hold multiple wedding on one day, but we didn’t notice this. The food was amazing - we received many compliments. Andrea also sourced my favorite Prosecco and personalized the labels! Such a nice touch!
A highlight was a bonfire on the beach in the evening! A must have!
Overall, for the amount we paid, the Woodbound was great! Just be prepared to do some of it yourself!
Trust me, the pictures you get here will blow you away!
I wish I could give this place 5 stars, but we had a pretty terrible experience. Our wedding ended up being beautiful, but only because our friends and family pitched in so much.
We had our reception outside and the tent that we ordered didn't show up with sides. We ended up getting reimbursed because the side walls didn't show up until halfway through our reception and our guests were freezing. We had showed up the Friday before to set everything up and my father even offered to drive back to Boston to get the walls for the tent but the venue said they would arrive.
It also rained the night before our wedding and all of our friends ended up drying off benches, raking the beach and setting everything up. The venue promised that would be done but it wasn't.
There was also another wedding happening at the same time as ours and I felt like all of the staff was overwhelmed. Perhaps if only one event was taking place at a time everything else would have been managed better. It honestly felt like everything was a huge mess and no one at the venue really cared. I ended up sobbing right before our reception when I realized our guests were freezing and the walls were still missing.
All this to say, it ended up being a great time. My husband and I played in our own wedding band and the food was great. However, this place isn't worth the extra stress and I would definitely pass if I could do it again.
We loved the Woodbound and had our rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception there. We were attracted by the gorgeous views of the mountains, the rustic cabins by the lake, and we even had a fire on the beach after the reception! The pricing is extremely reasonable and the staff is very accommodating. It was great to have everything, including lodging, all in one location. Cocktail hour on the beautiful, large deck was perfect!
We had a custom BBQ/comfort food menu complete with a macaroni and cheese bar with all sorts of toppings and two chefs making dishes to order -- our guests loved it.
The only thing to note is that the inn rooms do not have fridges or microwaves. It would have been nice to have fresh flowers in the bridal suite for our arrival.
Andrea, the event coordinator, was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions along the way. She did a great job the day of, including setting us up with appetizers from cocktail hour while the bridal party and family were getting pictures done.
We plan on coming back to the Woodbound for a vacation and to take advantage of the great food and summer activities at the lake.
We had our rehearsal dinner, wedding, and reception at the Woodbound Inn. The grounds are well taken care of and there are beautiful views and scenery. The rooms are well maintained and there was an experiences for everyone (ex: nice inn rooms, hotel like rooms, and rustic cabins). We had our rehearsal in the play barn and the reception in the ballroom. We liked that the facility offered multiple options for our events and was still small and cozy.
Prior to the wedding, Andrea the event coordinator was very response and knowledgeable. The whole team at the Inn was flexible to our dietary needs (people with allergies, vegans) and wishes we had for the events. The chef did a great job preparing multiple meals at each event to ensure all guests were happy. Staff was friendly and attentive.
We cannot say enough about how positive our experience has been with working with the Woodbound Inn and having our wedding there.
I would like to start this review stating, my wedding ended up being beautiful and everything came together in the end. However, The Woodbound Inn was extremely difficult to work with as a vendor and added to my stress tremendously. I am a very low key person and I don't complain unless warranted. Here is the list of things that went awry:
1. They didn't help decorate the reception venue at all, and also didn't set up the tables prior to my bridesmaids and I decorating, in which I had to bring my own ladder. I set up the chairs at the tables and linen for my own wedding.
2. They forgot to add salad to my dinner menu and when I brought it their attention they charged me extra per person for salad.
3. They gave my booked rooms out that were specified for my wedding party only to any guest that called for my wedding, so my wedding party had to book other rooms at a higher cost.
4. During the rehearsal, there was no directions, or guidance, I had to direct the entire thing as the coordinator didn't assist.
5. They did not have a mirror in the suite in which the bridal party got ready, I had to bring a full length mirror of my own.
6. The suite for the bride and groom wasn't included and nothing given complimentary to the couple.
7, They charged me on my final bill for a broken plastic corn hole game, $50 which was most likely way less than that at the store, as I know people who make real wooden corn hole games and sell them for how much she claimed she paid.
8. When asked if some appetizers could be saved for the bridal party and the groom and I, they attempted to charge me extra before I brought it to their attention I already paid for us in the head count. Then I still had to have someone of my family get the appetizers for us during our pictures.
9. The manager's/owners's 2 year old toddler was yelling and screaming at what should have been professional meetings to discuss details.
10. The wait staff at my reception gave guests attitude upon leaving and cleaning up. I got multiple complaints from guests.
Honestly this list could go on, I went there because the place is beautiful and quaint, but the service was horrible for the price I paid. If it weren't for my amazing friends and family assisting me throughout this whole process, I would have never made it through. Booking here, I thought I was saving money. but the whole time they kept bringing up additional costs and I felt gouged for what I got. I hope this review helps so another bride doesn't feel the stress I did.
The Woodbound Inn was beautiful, accommodating, and everything we had hoped for. The staff was friendly, the food was amazing, and the location was perfect. The rooms were great, and some are even pet friendly! My husband I loved working with the Woodbound Inn, and would recommend it to anyone.
