Originally, I had issues with this vendor, but they worked hard to make things better, and I am now very satisfied.
My daughter's wedding took place at Thistle Hill a couple of weeks ago and I can't say enough good things about the wonderful experience. Every single room in the mansion is gorgeous and fit well with our 1904 vintage theme. Leslie was so helpful throughout the booking process with offering suggestions and showing us pictures of previous weddings held there. Michael was a great help when it came to measuring different areas. And, a really nice perk is that there is no corking fee for alcohol. My family is still talking about the magical night!!!
The sayid of thistle hill was amazing during our wedding! They even have some guests a personal tour of the house! They were very helpful with set up and clean up! I would recommend this venue to any couple!
One of the most important days in a person’s life is their wedding day. The perfect venue, under the perfect setting surrounded by the people that we love and care most about. Ball Eddleman McFarland House is a beautiful place to hold your wedding that offers a quaint homey feeling that’ll make every one of your guest feel at home and invited. However, be prepared to do everything yourself. The people that are there will not lift one finger to assist in anything for the bride, groom or guests. Be prepared to clean everything from top to bottom including making sure the rugs were in the same spot as when you first walked in the door. For the price of what you pay to rent this venue you’re better off looking at other historical landmarks in and around Fort Worth that will offer you so much more as far as service is concerned. Also, be prepared to provide everything for your wedding from tables, to chairs to linens as well as staff hovering over your wedding and reception like hawks looking at prey. Additionally, if you do choose to have your wedding and reception there be sure and ask as many questions as you can prior. In our experience things changed on us down to the week of our wedding thanks to their staff that apparently told our caterers one thing then changing their minds by way of last minute “research” to clarify things up.
The Ball-Eddelman McFarland House in Fort Worth was such a perfect backdrop for our vintage/antique styled wedding.
I came across the mansion on Google. There were two options. Thistle Hill and the McFarland House. We chose Thistle Hill because it was just so elegant. Only up to 125 people for an inside wedding which was perfect since we were expecting no more than 100.
Communication between myself and the director was good. The only miscommunication was that there are some things that are in the contract that they didn't abide by. It wasn't necessarily bad. They were things that helped to our advantage.
All of our guest loved the mansion. They also loved the history that came along with it. The whole experience was just enough elegance without making people feel uncomfortable.
This was the perfect setting for our Fall themed, small wedding. It's a little on the expensive side, but the pictures will be beautiful!
Venue is a non-profit home, owned by Historic Fort Worth Society. I used the covered front porch for our wedding ceremony and inside for our reception. Our wedding was intimate - 50 people - and we filled the house to capacity. Beautiful home and grounds. It is a non-profit, so don't expect any extras from the staff! Hire a wedding day helper to execute everything! Our pictures turned out beautifully in the house with our wedding colors.
