TERRIBLE! RUDE! DISRESPECTFUL! NO CLASS! ZERO STARS! We wasted our money on someone who did not do half of what he was asked to do. When approached, we were called liars! I wish we would have had family Emcee! At least they would have said more than 3 words the whole time!
Larry provided music, photo booth, and clergy services for our wedding. We talked back and for the whole week of the wedding including last minute changes we wanted. He had a confetti cannon and bubbles and kept in contact with out caterer and photographer to make sure the night team smoothly. There were a few details that were missed the day off the wedding but nothing we stressed about. The biggest thing was he forgot to change the song for the mother son dance. 99% of everything else was perfect. We had a fantastic night and would recommend him again.
Larry was very professional and was dedicated to working with me throughout the planning. We got to dance on a cloud and have our vows read during our first dance from a recording we did previously. It was a fairytale. However, it was unfortunate Larry had to have surgery the day before our wedding so Kevin was the stand in. Kevin was okay at best. He kept interrupting me to ask me time lines, etc which he had discussed previously. We had specifically asked for no line dances but someone had requested them so I allowed it, from there though I'm not sure if I remember hearing some of the songs on our must play list. The guests had a great time dancing and we had to kick people out of our venue (We got married during the blizzard of 19 so it was impressive we had people still there at 11 pm!) Some guests didn't like how Kevin seemed to dry to be mixing songs as he would play a few seconds of a song, change the song and then play it again later. Not sure if it was a technical difficulty or what, however, I as the bride did not notice this happening.
The only other thing was a lot of people missed me cutting my cake, they said he did not announce it. I know he did because I was close to the speakers when it was announced. However, maybe making sure the microphone level is turned up for announcements would be something to work on.
Larry worked with us to make our day special, we are human and have errors but nothing was inherently wrong and I would definitely recommend Larry to others as I had a great evening with great music and great fun.
We were very impressed with our 2 meetings with Larry before our wedding. He seemed professional. He played our ceremony music perfectly, but after that it was all down hill. I was told that his assistant (wife) was playing Angry Birds during our CEREMONY & on her phone the whole night! Guests complained that the music was too loud, they had to shout to hear each other even during dinner. They could not understand anything Larry said into the mic (too loud/muffled). He played a game to dismiss tables, no one could hear him to play. During our meetings we discussed starting with "classic wedding" music & having more current "club" music for the last hour. As soon as dinner was over, he started to play club music. None of the guests were dancing besides the bridal party. The bride had to ask a bridesmaid to get him to change the type of music. After he changed the music, the dance floor was full, but for the last hour & a half he went back to music that no one was dancing to again. There is an online planning tool, which we thought was great, but soon learned he wasn't using it. We also only listed 8-9 "must play" songs & he didn't even play all of them! There was a section for dedications with notes on who it was dedicated to - he did 3 of the dedications when they were not even in the hall or during pictures. At one point we cleared out some songs from our requests and it seems like he played all of the songs we deleted instead of the ones we requested. We discussed a family friendly atmosphere & he played the UNEDITED DMX Up in Here. We were so preoccupied with trying to "mingle" we did not realize it was the end of the night until he said last 2 songs one was Cotton Eyed Joe (the bride asking him not to play) & he played country anyway (2 people danced). The GROOM requested 2 songs & they didn't play them! We didn't feel it was our responsibility to direct music-that's what a DJ is for! He didn't reply to our evaluation to explain/apologize. Really disappointed. So disappointed we're putting this review on every site!
Wow. I did not think I would have to write such a negative review. At first Larry thompson seemed very kind and professional but that's how snakes work. A year ago I hired this company for my wedding. Although cheaper than what you'll find anywhere else, I still paid over 800 dollars. During this time I would message Larry repeatedly just to get a response weeks later. A month before my wedding he didn't even check in on us, didn't check up for a face to face meeting, rarely answered my questions just all around a major sketchball. We canceled our wedding due to financial difficulties more than 30 days in advance and he literally read the message and ignored it just so he would not have to refund me my money. I even asked for half! I have young children. He literally is keeping my hard earned money for his own selfish agenda. I even recommended this company to my cousin whom he just had the privelage of DJ ing for. Her rude, self centered, unprofessional, a liar, and a thief. I was going to legally settle this but I don't have the time. Larry Thompson, I hope this review gets back to you. And I hope to god you never do this to another client if you ever have one again. You must need that money more than I do. God bless you cause you are literally scum.
Do not waste your money on Thompson Entertainment. Very unprofessional. The DJ did a horrible job and guests joked about taking the mic from her. Very unhappy with the service.
These people can do it all. They provided beautiful up lighting for the reception, microphones, wonderful speakers. Their attention to detail is magnificent, they were constantly bee bopping around to make sure my now husband & I had everything we needed. I had several people tell me afterwards that the music was so much fun, the DJ's clearly have the knack of reading the crowd very well! Thompson Entertainment also has a great website, so I was able to log in and choose songs from a huge selection as well as also fill out the timeline for the day.
Scott Thompson is the best DJ in Orlando! His website is so user friendly. He is incredibly detail-oriented and sets the perfect mood from ceremony to reception. We can't wait to hire him again for our next event! :)
My husband chose the DJ, this is one of his friends. He did a decent job, but not sure if I would recommend him to anyone.
I am so upset with what happened at my wedding it took me awhile to settle down to write a review. I booked Larry because he came across so professional and had an great website where you can map out exactly what songs you want and most importantly what you don't. I was VERY clear about what kind of music I wanted played and what I didn't. It seemed as if he mixed up the playlist and the do NOT playlist. My fiancée had to stop me from telling him to pack his equipment up and just leave during dinner. We had a beautiful sit down candlelit dinner being served (I asked for Micheal Buble, frank Sinatra, a rat pack feel) he played. WHAT DID THE FOX SAY!! I was horrified. He played the wrong song for my bouquet toss and the processional. My bridesmaids went up to him a couple times to tell him to stick with the playlist but that was ignored.
It's always been my dream to have my first kiss with my husband and walk back down the isle to an INSTRUMENTAL version of the song Bittersweet Symphony. I got the original version with the words.... There went my magical moment...
I could go on and on about how disappointed I am in this DJs service. The worst part he was pronouncing our name wrong.
The owner, Larry Thompson, was very nice, and professional. However, the DJ I received, Kevin, was the worst DJ I've ever heard. I heard complaints from practically EVERYONE at my reception! Not only did he play music that was WAY far off from my request list, he also cut songs out halfway through to leave dead air until he could put another song on, played 7 minute dance remixes of classic songs, and his "assistant" fell asleep while she was supposed to be watching the station. Kevin had no idea how to read the mood of the room. I will never recommend this company to anyone else.
The reception really had a slow start. People started leaving before we even got to the cake cutting/first dance. There were long awkward pauses while we waited for the DJ. It took a while for people to get out on the dance floor. If I could rewind I would have definitely asked him to do the line dance (Cha cha, cupid, electric slide, etc) first. Introductions into the reception were weak, and seemed to drag on. A couple times we had to go over and ask him to keep things moving. I talked to some friends who didn't think it was too bad, but as a couple I hated seeing awkward pauses and people leaving early. We got to choose the scent for our fog, but it didn't have a scent really, just smelled bad. The bubbles made a few people slip on the dance floor, and they even started to pile up. Wasn't horrible, but I wish things would have flowed smoother and faster.
