I recently had my wedding at Thunderbird chapel and it was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment we arrived this venue was clearly made to make all events memorable.
The setting was breathtaking in the chapel with the nature view behind us. The staff was exceptional. Mya literally does it all from planning to coordinating to make sure all the small details are perfect. She made the day and the days leading up run so smoothly! She thought of everything!
We had them cater it as well and the food was delicious! Everyone raved about how good it was!
Overall Thunderbird chapel exceeded all expectations!
It goes without saying that this chapel is beautiful, and it is much more affordable than other venues in the area. It is incredible how much they help with decor and what’s included in the package. We didn’t have to buy any of our own decor except for flowers, and the tables were set up by the staff for us, saving us so much time and money. However, there was a very clear shift in Mya’s (the owner and day-of coordinator) effort and organization after about March 2024. She showed up for our tour an hour late, forgot about our rehearsal until I texted her and asked where she was and ended up being 45 minutes late, and didn’t arrive at the venue the day of the wedding until three and a half hours after she said she would. She did little to help with the flow of the wedding day and help us coordinate events. She did not help us with ordering catering through the chapel, so it’s lucky I remembered to do that by the deadline. She also did not reach out to schedule a detail meeting before the wedding like she said she would. I went to another wedding June for a friend, and this couple said it was exactly the same for them. She did take care of the reception table settings and some decor like she said she would, but she was extremely difficult to communicate with through the whole process and was quite rude if I had any ideas for my wedding that contradicted her. I would still recommend the chapel overall because it is beautiful and so much is included in the wedding day package, but I wouldn’t plan on having the help from Mya that she promises. Maybe this is a temporary lapse on her part and it won’t be like this for other couples. Everything else about the venue was fantastic.
I recently rented Thunderbird Chapel for a wedding, and unfortunately, our experience was far from satisfactory. Here are the main issues we encountered:
1. Cleanliness: The bathrooms were dirty and lacked essential supplies like paper towels, which was highly inconvenient for our guests.
2. Double Booking: Another wedding was taking place in the chapel simultaneously, which was not communicated to us beforehand and caused unnecessary confusion and disruption.
3. Coordinator Absence: The wedding coordinator, who is also the event center owner, was absent without any prior notice. Instead, she sent a replacement who was not briefed on our arrangements and was extremely rude.
4. Uninvited Guests: People from another upcoming wedding showed up to take pictures outside the event center during our event, which was very intrusive.
5. Unmet Catering Promises: We paid for lemonade, but none was provided. The food service was slow, leading to insufficient quantities and making our guests feel uncomfortable. We even had to take many guests out to a restaurant afterward due to the inadequate food supply.
6. Courtyard Condition: The courtyard, which was promised to be ready and blooming for our pictures, was in the same unkempt state as it was when we first visited 3-4 months prior.
7. Kitchen Hygiene: The kitchen where the food was stored and prepared was in a deplorable state, raising serious health concerns. I'm convinced it wouldn't pass a health department inspection.
8. Lack of Response: After the event, I contacted the owner multiple times to discuss these issues. She promised to look into them upon her return from a trip but never followed up. Despite repeated attempts, she has not returned my calls or messages.
9. Deposit Refund: We have yet to receive any of our deposit back, which the venue owner had promised to refund.
In summary, our experience at Thunderbird Chapel was disappointing and frustrating. The lack of professionalism and basic hospitality made what should have been a joyous occasion into a stressful one. I cannot recommend this venue to anyone looking to create a memorable and pleasant wedding experience.
The staff was super helpful and did everything they could to make our wedding day wonderful and stress free for both of us and our families! The venue itself is so beautiful and very worth the price we paid for all the stuff that’s included in the package. Mya (the owner and coordinator) was very easy to work with and understanding, although her response times could use a little work. Sometimes I waited several days to several weeks for a response or for her to give me information on something I needed to know. For the most part, the experience was great though and I wouldn’t wanna have my wedding take place anywhere else!
Mya Kirk and her team ensured that my husband and I had a seamless and fun time at their venue! The decor provided was beautiful and everyone loved the food they provided as well. I could not imagine our wedding going better!
The owner, Mya & her staff helped us have the most perfect day. They were super friendly, professional on helping us prepare and accomplish our wedding day. The venue comes with a large assortment of decor and wedding accessories to choose from for your certain aesthetic, if you need it. The chapel itself was beyond beautiful with a courtyard that just escalates the look of the whole venue 10/10 recommend.
Mya was so helpful in helping us execute our vision. The venue was absolutely beautiful and made it feel like an outdoor wedding without the weather or mobility concerns for our guests. It was affordable and included so many services we couldn’t find at any other venues we looked at.
My wife and I couldn't have been more pleased with the experience we had at Thunderbird Chapel. The staff (especially Tammie) was amazing helping us with the little details and didn't overlook anything. Their recommendations for catering, the officiant and a DJ were also excellent. The venue itself was gorgeous and the perfect size for a ceremony/reception of around 130 people. It was one of the most affordable venues we looked at as well although that isn't the reason we chose it. Honestly I can't say enough about how great everything was, my wife and I wouldn't change a single thing. Would recommend to anyone in the Oklahoma area.
For the price, I expected my wedding day to off without a hitch. It did not. The day was perfect, don’t get me wrong but there were a few things that just didn’t make the day go smoothly as it could have. They forgot our unity cross, the sound system is terrible, and even though we rehearsed, our music “couldn’t be found” when we went to walk down the aisle. A very expensive place and if there’s a wedding before or after you, don’t expect any mercy. We were trying to get dressed while everyone unloaded a trailer of boxes that had everything we needed.
Tammie and Christy delightful to work with, and we're a huge reason that our wedding day went so smoothly. Thunderbird is a gorgeous venue, and I felt very relaxed there knowing that they take care of all the setup and tear down so that my family could enjoy all of the ceremony/reception. The most difficult aspect was that the chapel seats 5-7 people a pew, and the maximum amount allowed are 130. We will be having a separate reception in TX this weekend to include more people we weren't able to initially invite. Overall though, Thunderbird was a perfect venue for us!
We highly recommend Thunderbird Chapel for your wedding. The chapel is absolutely beautiful as well as the reception area and the surrounding grounds. Tammie and the staff were very well organized and did an excellent job handling every detail of the wedding. When they say that they will handle everything, they mean it! They were so easy to work with and very accommodating. The staff sets up everything and decorates if you choose to use their decorations (which were beautiful). The florist that they recommended did a great job as well. We used a personal friend to cater the meal and the Thunderbird Staff made sure that she had everything that she needed. In addition, the staff helps with the reception and cleans up everything! Thunderbird Chapel is an excellent value and a beautiful location.
My son and his beautiful bride had their wedding and reception at the Thunderbird Chapel. Tucked directly off the highway and nestled in a woodsy delight, the Thunderbird staff aimed to please every guest in attendance. Every aspect of our needs were met. From the bridal and the groom rooms to the chapel and of course the reception hall, this is a one stop convenience which certainly accommodated. The staff stayed on top of everything and made our experience very delightful. Thank you so much for the best day ever!!! We will recommend Thunderbird Chapel to whoever we can!
I had a lovely evening wedding at Thunderbird Chapel. The staff and wedding planners (Christy, Tammie and Cheryl among the few) are so accommodating and will do everything in their ability to make sure your wedding is perfect. You can bring in any outside vendor and alcohol, and they will set up decorations for you. The bridal and groom's rooms are perfect for getting ready, especially with a restroom attached to the bridal room. The Chapel itself is absolutely stunning! Hidden in the woods, this venue will provide you with a gorgeous atmosphere for your wedding either during the day or in the evening. My guests had no complaints and truly thought it was a beautiful ceremony and reception setup. Thunderbird Chapel will not disappoint!
Thunderbird Chapel made everything easy from planning and payment to the day of the wedding. They set up everything, cleaned up everything and kept track of all the details so that my family and I did not have to. Christy was a fantastic coordinator and the day could not have gone smoother. I am so grateful for this beautiful chapel and their staff!
The staff at Thunderbird Chapel was fantastic and the venue was beautiful. We wanted some where that would handle setup, cleanup and catering. We got a wonderful wedding with no stress about the venue. They handled everything without a hitch and even joined in on the costume theme. The staff is easy to work with and very professional. Thank you for such a wonderful day.
An amazing venue with nature as a backdrop which makes for absolutely beautiful wedding photos. My December 2017 wedding was everything I had imagined it would be. The ladies that run this place were in charge of everything and I didn't have to think of a single thing that day. They set up my reception and even set up the candy/hot cocoa bar (items we purchased to place on a table thinking we might need to do this ourselves). They thought of everything. They went above and beyond for our day.
We also held our reception at this location. Everyone LOVED the food. The choices for catering were fantastic and there wasn't a single complaint from family or friends. I highly recommend this venue.
Thunderbird Chapel is a beautiful venue. The natural light and wooden arches makes it a venue that needs little decoration to make it beautiful. They took care of everything the day of the wedding, so I didn't have to worry about a thing and was able to enjoy the day. We did pay for an extra hour, just to add some breathing room to the schedule. They catered our reception and everything was delicious. They even made to go boxes for us since we didn't get to eat much due to all our mingling. This is a great place to have a wedding, and the staff were professional and easy to coordinate with. Definitely recommend this venue!
Beautiful chapel. Everything was amazing. Some of my decorations weren't where I had planned them, still looked nice. Food was good.
Thunderbird Chapel was an excellent choice for our venue! The scenery is gorgeous and the staff is so friendly! They truly care about each bride and groom and want to make sure that your day is special. Our coordinator, Jenna, handled everything extremely well and made sure everything was taken care of so we didn't have to worry about it. They have tons of decorations, so we had to purchase minimal decorations ourselves for the ceremony and reception. We couldn't imagine having our wedding at any other venue in town!
The venue is so beautiful and we had so many guests tell us it was the most beautiful wedding they had ever been to. The staff were wonderful and kept everything running very smoothly. If anything went wrong I had no clue. Loved every second of our wedding.
First I would like to say that the venue is GORGEOUS! I have no complaints about the aesthetics, other than the tree that is normally fully lit, had about 60% of the bulbs burned out, which made for some ugly pics. My reason for the low score is the staff. Not Charla, but the "coordinator" I was assigned the rehearsal and the day of wedding. She seemed clueless. She couldn't get ANY of the CDs to work for our music and instead had us practice to her cell phone. She started our rehearsal with the end of the ceremony, which had everyone confused, and then ran out of time to tell my usher his duties or to go over the beginning of ceremony. I felt extremely rushed and my DJ had to make multiple CDs to accommodate the outdated sound system. The five hours is NOT enough time if you plan to have any photos prior or after ceremony. They don't let vendors in early, which creates a lag due to them having to set up. Our food wasn't out and placed for photos either. The music was very low and most guests couldn't hear it. It was also coming from broken speaker that make it sound distorted. The coordinator didn't guide or help in ensuring things ran as planned. She seemed to not know how to tell us to cut the cake or when to do so. My biggest issue was the food. We paid for 80+ guests and only had about 50, yet I had guests complaining of food not being replenished and them not getting seconds. That is very frustrating when you pay so much. I felt that they were standing around checking their watch and cleaning up before our time was close to being finished. I have dreamed of getting married at this chapel and to say I was highly disappointed is an understatement. I now have to schedule another time and another place to get many of the photos that I was unable to get due to time constraints. I hope this review will help for future weddings to go much smoother and training to be offered to the coordinator.
Where to begin… We were assured at our rehearsal, 4 days before the wedding, by the sound guy that all of our music for the ceremony and reception would play just fine. Our ceremony was at 6 pm and we arrived at 4 pm to prepare and take pictures. At around 5 they informed us that they could not get the sound to work properly and that they would be playing it from a tiny stereo that looked like it came straight from the bargin section at Walmart! The “sound guy” never showed up (he is the son of one of the coordinators and was at home studying for a final he was worried about, very professional!) and none of the staff knew how to operate the equipment and basically left it up to us to figure it out. They had scratched the cds that the music was on and right in the middle of the ceremony played a scratched version of a song that sounded horrible! The staff (except for the preacher) was rude and ill-prepared, I doubt they could even put together a high school dance, much less a wedding! They constantly acted as if they were being put out by the problems that were their responsibility to solve. The mother of the bride and matron of honor basically had to be responsible for running the entire reception at the last minute, even though they had assured us that they would take care of everything. Once these people have your money, they don’t care how the wedding goes. Not ONCE did they make any kind of sincere apology or offer any kind of compensation for us having to do their job for them! The chapel is beautiful, but that is the only thing this place has going for it and honestly is not worth the headache and risk of ruining the plans you had for your wedding day.
I was told I could invite 130 people to my reception and 120 people showed. Trust me when I tell you that the reception hall DOES NOT accommodate 120 people comfortably, much less 130. There was no room to dance or move about the room. I also learned that a table and 10 chairs were pulled so 7 of our guests ATE DINNER IN THE CHAPEL - completely unacceptable! We had place settings so imagine how those guests felt when they found their name on the table card and then there was NO place for them to sit. I am appalled and completely embarrassed. We had many people that came from half way across the country to be with us on our wedding day to celebrate and guests were treated so disrespectfully and I didn't even know what had happened until a week after the wedding. I cannot imagine what they do about the reception space to accommodate if they actually DO have a full house of 130 because it was incredibly uncomfortable with 120. I guess the answer to that is that they just don't and then you find out later. It's money > quality here. If you must choose this venue for whatever may compel you to do so, invite 90 people or less. If that doesn't suit you, find a bigger venue - this place is NOT meant for more than 90 people! Don't let them tell you otherwise!
The staff at Thunderbird Chapel were fantastic! All my emails were answered promptly, and they were so open to helping!
The chapel has everything from table cloths to centerpieces to tableware! We could've arrived with our clothes, officiant, and cake and still had a completely set up and decorated wedding!
Not to mention, the venue is absolutely breathtaking!!! Floor to ceiling windows in the chapel and beautiful grounds! Love it!
Thank you guys for making our day so special!
The chapel at Thunderbird is absolutely gorgeous!! I didn't decorate the chapel at all and still had people say it was the prettiest wedding they had been to! The staff was also amazing on my wedding day and the days prior. Always willing to answer any questions! If your guest list is less than 130, I highly recommend Thunderbird Chapel!
Everything about this place and the people who work here is incredible. We look and many venues, and not only was Thunderbird Chapel one of the nicest ones, it was also half the price or less. Sharla and staff were so, so personable and stayed on top of all the calendar deadlines and details.
***On the wedding day my cake did not arrive- Thunderbird staff liaised with the vendor, and when it turned out the vendor was not going to make it, the owner of the chapel went out and bought another cake at a local bakery. They did not charge us a dime for this.***
These are people who actually care about your wedding, and want it to be as wonderful as it is in your mind.
To Thunderbird Chapel:
You guys are consummate professionals and genuinely kind people. Thank you so much for caring for us and making sure I didn't have to worry about a single thing on our wedding day. You went above and beyond every step of the way and made us feel right at home.
Thank you all so much!
Thunderbird Chapel was outstanding! They were extremely helpful and everything was set up as was specified at our detail meeting. During out meeting they clarified details I had not even considered. Our coordinator was fantastic at handling our large, loud group during the rehearsal; and during the reception she found a way to let me know what I needed to know without interrupting the party. The place was beautiful, and the food they catered was fantastic). They even packed us up some cake to take after the reception, for which we were very grateful because we forgot to get any! I couldn't have been more happy or imagine having had my wedding anywhere else!
My friend got married here in September. They were wonderful! So helpful and kind. The chapel is BEAUTIFUL! I loved the window behind my friends as they said their I dos. It will be on my list of places to call when I get married.
Thunderbird chapel took the stress out of everything, all I had to worry about on my wedding was not messing up my makeup from crying. Everything was absolutely perfect, they took what I asked and made it even better. They were so detail oriented. This venue does everything for you AND it is the most beautiful venue in oklahoma. I would recommend this venue to all my brides.
Beautiful place and wonderful service! My day was perfect!
I chose Thunderbird Chapel because the chapel blew us away when we went to go see it for the first time, it is gorgeous! There is also an attached reception area. There is lots of huge windows, it makes you feel like you are surrounded by nature but without the heat or bugs. The staff were helpful and we had a fun wedding here!
I Absolutely loved the Thunderbird Chapel! Their staff was great and very flexible! They did a great job at not making us feel like a burden, even though our schedule was very complicated. Goldie was great at returning my emails very quickly. They asked to make sure they did everything right and made my day extremely stress free! They were very patient and kind! The chapel itself was beautiful and we loved all the windows! They did an amazing job!
Thunderbird Chapel is amazing. The staff was fantastic, I honestly had no worries the day of my wedding. From beginning to end the staff was very involved and patient. Everything was perfect the decorations, the food everything. I honestly don't think my wedding would have been so perfect if it weren't for the thunderbird chapel.
I was married here on September 7th 2013. It was worth every penny. I don't really know what else to say other than I would do it at the same place in a heart beat and would still do it even if the price went up. I've gotten so many compliments on how beautiful the wedding was and I was on a budget and didn't put hardly any effort into getting decorations. The services they provide (clean up, decorating, tables/chairs, toasting flutes, music etc.) saved me money, time, and stress!! I never imagined I would have been so relaxed on my wedding day but I was absolutely worry-free and I give most of the credit to the chapel! On a side note, I wasn't happy with the cake vendor I used that the chapel had as part of the package when I first picked Thunderbird, but I am pretty sure they no longer do the vouchers. I'd rate my CHAPEL experience a 10 out of 10!
I loved having my wedding at Thunderbird. They take care of everything: set-up, coordinator, clean-up, service, music and pretty much all the basics you need. All my guests were impressed at the chapel; beautiful huge windows in the woods, just gorgeous! Great value for the budget conscious bride who wants a pretty wedding.
I used Thunderbird Chapel as my venue for our wedding & it was absolutely perfect! The staff was great to work with & they made sure it was exactly what I wanted! I couldn't have asked for a better group of people to work with & would recommend to anyone!
My wedding was MAy 24, 2013. As soon as I got engaged I searched for wedding chapels and venues in the OKC area. Thunderbird Chapel was the first one I seen. I looked at the website and loved it. Over the next couple of months I looked at other venues, but, to me, neither compared to the beauty of the chapel or the price of the package. I had my heart set on Thunderbird and was able to book it for my wedding and reception. The staff is very nice and willing to work with you. I am a pretty indecisive person and a little unorganized, but the staff still responded to my questions and requests politely and professionally. I had last minute changes to my decor, but the staff was right on it and everything looked so wonderful. I added in my own chair sashes and it went very well with the decor. I was not even able to make it to my rehearsal because of traffic from the recent tornado! Even with that unfortunate event, the staff was still able to direct my wedding party to the best of their abilities and the end result was a lovely ceremony. I received many comments on how beautiful the entire wedding and chapel was. I had a vision for my wedding and Thunderbird Chapel made it come true!
I was so please with thunderbird chapel through the whole engagement process. They answered numerous emails and questions I had in a very timely manner. The food was great. I was so happy with what was included in the pkg at Thunderbird. Had everything I needed (nothing silly or unnesary. Decor was organized and placed in approriate places as discussed previously with Planner. They are strick on their arrival time. So when they say Doors open at 5 they mean it! But everything was put perfectly in place so that made me happy. They also had so much table centerpieces to choose from. ( and I just brought in some small flowers) Definetly would recommend this vender to anyone having a small wedding 130 people or less! And a fall wedding here is Breathtaking!!
I can honestly say my wedding was one of the best days of my life. It went incredibly smooth and I know it was because of our wedding coordinator and all the help we had.
Our chapel was beautiful and decorations were all I had imagined. I just can't thank them enough for making this day so special!
Thunderbird Chapel handles everything for you. it is perfect. I didnt have anything to worry about. I just brought all my outside decorations, and they did everything for me...set it up, broke it down, one employee even helped me load up the car after the wedding. they were superb!
Hello, We were just married May 5, 2012 at the Thunderbird Chapel! The Chapel is a beautiful place and the staff are more than willing to assist in any way possible, so I gave service a 5. We wanted something outside, but did not want to worry about weather, so we chose the chapel, inside with an outdoor romantice feel. I gave Quality a 3 because the floors were dusty and everyone sitting in the pews could see the stage and I had a few guest comment after we returned from our honeymoon about the dust on the stage(you think that they would sweep??) Also, I had a battery operated memorial candle, which the staff tried to light and burnt the inside and then not sure if someone dropped it, but the top part of the candle was smashed...was not happy about that b/c the memorial candle was for my Mother! :(
Band for your buck was about a 4. They are really helpful and you pretty much just tell them what you want and they take care of everything...that is a life saver for a detailed oriented bride! :) Overall our wedding went smoothly and I loved every minute! :)
Everything turned out beautifully! The staff was so helpful and nice. My guests loved it, and I had so many comments on how beautiful the chapel is. We had the chapel cater it with meatballs, sandwiches, and cheese/fruit/cracker/veggie trays. The food was awesome!
Beware, they are VERY strict on the time so be prepared for that. Have timing planned out, or pay $200 every extra hour (or any time over 5 hours)
They took care of everything. Wedding ceremony and reception went along without a hitch. They think of everything, it's a breath-taking chapel and they have the reception on site as well. It can look pricey, but considering all the decorations are included and how professional they are, it was well worth the money. They have recommendations for other vendors too in case you need someone reliable but don't really know where to start.
Everything about this place is wonderful. The staff, the food, the perfect place for pictures! I wanted somewhere that we could enjoy our wedding and not worry about everything else and that is what we got 100%... thanks thunderbird
wonderful view from both the chapel and reception areas
beautiful view from chapel and reception area. great service.
For my wedding I wanted my family to be guests and sit and enjoy themselves. I did not want them running around trying to take care of everything, like they usually do at family functions. Thunderbird gave me exactly what I wanted and so much more. They provided me with a 'day of' coordinator who kept everyone in their places, kept track of the time and what events took place when (i.e. cake cutting, speeches etc.) I did NOT have to worry about one little thing! This gave me the freedom to laugh and have fun and enjoy my wedding day!
The venue itself is gorgeous with floor to ceiling windows that let the sunlight in to show off the beautiful oak fixtures. It was lovely and my pictures are still getting compliments.
I also loved that I was able to bring all of my decorations, wedding favors and anything else I could carry to the rehearsal the day before my wedding. The coordinators made notes of where and how I wanted everything and then set everything up themselves before I even arrived on my Wedding Day. This ensured that we weren't too loaded down on the big day and they, once again, eliminated any anxiety me or my family might have had.
I love this venue and I LOVED my wedding. It was truly a fairy tale and I would strongly encourage future brides to visit Thunderbird and set a date!
Thunderbird chapel is wonderful! They literally do all the work for you. We used some of their decorations. Anything extra that we wanted done they did. The dressing rooms were cool and comfortable, they listened to me and how I wanted things to go and executed everything flawlessly. From the decor, to the timeline, to the music, everything flowed and it was a huge burden off my shoulders knowing I could trust them to take care of all the "little things" that can make any woman a bridezilla. They also did the catering for the reception, served, and cleaned up. Also provided is a day-off wedding coordinator. I couldn't have asked for my wedding day to run any smoother than it did! It was perfect!!!!
The staff at Thunderbird was amazing! They were very helpful and did anything and everything to ensure that the day was perfect!
I was told by a friend that this venue will take care of literally EVERYTHING. And they were right! Even a decoration that was put in last minute they quickly verified what I wanted and took care of it! It was phenomenal! Beautiful everything.
The Chapel is gorgeous and the reception hall can be arranged/decorated to match any theme. The food was fabulous and the staff was prepared to handle anything. The only thing that went wrong at our wedding was that I got sick and missed the reception. All of our guests had a great time and complimented all of our vendors. We are attending 2 more weddings at the Chapel and can’t wait to see what our friends chose to do.
This place is absolutely gorgeous! The staff is fantastic as well. They work with you and really help take the edge off. The reception area is a little small. It only holds 130 people, so if you are having a small ceremony this is definately the place to have it at.
The Chapel is amazing!Nothing but beautiful wood arches and huge windows to accent a lovely ceremony. They covered everything for us so that we could just enjoy our big day. They collected all our vendors information so they could check in if something didn't show so we didn't have to worry about it... they were great organizing my chaotic family and guests... and assisted and allowed us to have a very custom and unique wedding. The chapel and reception hall are connected so there was no time lost celebrating the occasion. My only complaint is that the site only accommodated 130 guests...and after greeting and visiting with 130 people... it was plenty large enough lol. Check out the chapel package... it includes pretty much everything you need for a wedding including the cake! (you choose between 3 shops).
