To Be Designed San Diego

While TBD has good inventory and is a nice one-stop-shop, I would not recommend moving forward with their design services due to my unfortunate experience. For us, they did not follow the extensively planned diagrams or instructions that we aligned on together while designing my wedding. It’s the most helpless, defeating feeling when you only have one wedding day that you dream about for your entire life, trust and pay the vendors you plan with and then they make careless mistakes or execute the complete wrong thing on the day of. On our wedding day, Jillian and the TBD team changed and subsequently ruined our head table configuration that we had reviewed together in countless meetings, calls and diagrams during the planning process. They chose to separate our singular head table into four individual tables on the day of by an arch structure with no prior warning. Jillian never told us or showed us how the arch would separate the tables, we rightfully assumed it would simply go over the table configuration just as we had discussed at length and were provided through inspo photos. Jillian and team separated our tables despite even creating our escort board for us denoting the singular head table as “Table 1” for 25 guests. This then completely threw off our head table seating chart which was painstakingly created for one singular table. My husband was separated from his best man and some bridesmaids were at separate tables from their dates. My husband and I were squished off center with my husband’s legs dangling off the side of the table since he was supposed to be splitting center with me from the other table and now there was no longer a center point to split and sit at with the 4 separate tables. The chairs made no orderly sense as they were not intended to be spread across 4 separate tables. Despite the visual nightmare, this was mortifying for us as the bride & groom and we had to apologize to our family and friends who gave their time, effort and expenses to be in our bridal party and then didn’t get to sit at the same table as their date. This blunder is also now immortalized forever in nearly all of our wedding photos as the head table layout was set up to be the focal point of our reception. I spent my whole life looking forward to my wedding photos and now I cry every time I look at the majority of my reception photos or when I see a beautiful head table with everyone in the bridal party enjoying together, sitting in an orderly layout, with the groom next to his best man and bride next to her maid of honor. I did not feel like a priority with Jillian throughout most of the planning process, but especially when she came late to our scheduled final run through call on Zoom just 9 days before my wedding because she was in a mock-up with another bride. This is where my planner and I thoroughly reviewed the seating chart and table configurations once again - confirming the singular, continuous head table. There are quite a few other issues we had with TBD, but the head table mistake is unequivocally the biggest loss of our wedding day that was completely avoidable. After much consideration, I feel my honest review should remain posted (I had originally removed to discuss directly with Jillian) as I would hate for another hopeful and excited couple to make a decision to move forward with TBD based on these reviews alone & have something like this happen to them. You never get over things like this when it comes to your wedding.

We recently worked with TBD Events for our wedding, and we were incredibly impressed. Their service is truly customized, allowing us to bring our unique vision to life. The enormous warehouse is filled with countless options, making it easy to find exactly what we needed. Even when we weren't sure about our vision, their team was incredibly helpful and guided us through the process. They were communicative and attentive, ensuring every detail was perfect. Additionally, combining florals with decor and rentals helped keep our costs down. We couldn't have asked for a better partner for our special day!

Amazing job by the whole TBD staff! They worked with us through about 5 major revisions and were SO helpful throughout the whole process. Did an in-person meeting too to finalize our setup and they were so flexible with our customization and needs. The job they did was AMAZING!!! Highly recommend them!!

Our wedding planner Amy from Intertwined Events recommended Jillian & TBD immediately when we began the planning process. As a couple who loves simplicity in everything we do, Jillian made the entire process so seamless from start to finish. We had a vision for what we wanted for our Western-Sikh wedding in OC this past October. The Sikh ceremony was at a breathtaking outdoor park on the top of the cliff so we asked Jillian to help us find ways to focus on ensuring it was a comfortable and beautiful experience for all 220 guests. We brainstormed and she brought forth ideas of ways to make such a large outdoor area feel intimate (which we were keen on), and also how we could best seat so many guests on the ground for the religious ceremony. While florals weren't completely a top-of-mind priority for us, Jillian found the perfect way to have just the right amount onsite, and even more (keeping in mind our desire to be as efficient as possible), how to repurpose them for our evening Vow Ceremony & Reception. If I thought I was taken aback by the design of the morning ceremony, I was brought to tears when I arrived in the evening to Serra Plaza, our Spanish plaza-style venue in San Juan Capistrano and saw how the venue was completely transformed to something even better than any vision I had thanks to Jillian and her team. The florals in the water fountain, her beautiful long oak tables, twinkling lanterns and globe lights hanging from above, a picture-perfect lounge area - it all came together in such a romantic and classy way. Ultimately, it came down to Jillian's willingness to hear out our must-have's, be flexible with the unexpected (like full layout changes due to unexpected weather and creating an impromptu bouquet for my vow ceremony when I forgot mine at the hotel :) ), and giving us just a little push here and there to go for elements (like gold cutlery!!) that added the classiest touch. I can't express enough how grateful we are to Jillian for everything she and her fabulous team did.
