Toast Catering

11/10 We loved working with Toast for our wedding and would absolutely recommend (with just a few notes for the team). Food - excellent, we had a great tasting that was custom since we wanted to bring elements of our families' Mexican and Indian regional heritage into the food served so we picked one of the items they offered and I asked if they could do a custom dish. Chef Lloyd went above and beyond - he not only asked for and delivered on a custom recipe, he also added an optional side dish to complement our tasting. We approved & gave our notes, setting our expectations that the food would be good but our families may wonder about "authenticity". Come day of the wedding, my husband and I both exclaimed how great the food was and it was probably even 5x better than the tasting - we still have guests telling us how memorable and good the food was from our wedding & I myself wish I could have again. Rachel, our sales manager, was super friendly and patient with me in discussing every little detail, my indecision, and making changes as needed, even up until the last week. I also highly recommend working with her. My only notes would be for 1. cocktail hour the passed appetizers (also delicious!) were a hit. But the serving process was setup in a way that the same area of people would get served with each new round and others deeper in the cocktail area told us (only since they looked & tasted delicious!) that they never got to try any appetizers as they always ran out by the time they reached them . I do think Toast planned properly but I think server routes could be improved so properly spread out. 2. Communications - I do think they were swamped & perhaps need more help given turnaround time sometimes. Not huge deal, but at times left a lot on my mind in grander scheme of wedding planning and remembering to follow-up on key details for my coordinator. Also, there was some confusion in payment I had to clear up when my initial sales manager left the company & maybe didn't pass along notes but Toast was great in helping resolve.

We had an incredible experience working with Toast. We were worried when our venue required us to choose from a list of caterers because we are big foodies and cooks ourselves. However, any fears immediately disappeared with our Toast tasting! The food was delicious and authentic — not gimmicky "fancy" food. I was so impressed. Working with Ashli was a breeze. She answered every tiny detailed question we had about the food and even worked with us to secure rentals for the day through their partner vendors. All of our guests loved the food as well — we went with the BBQ and taco stations, which were delicious. Plus, the service was impeccable on our wedding day and I can't begin to describe how kind and delightful their entire staff is! I wish I could give Toast 10/5 stars. All around a wonderful group to work with.

We are so glad we booked Toast Catering for our wedding! The food was incredible - guests keep telling us how great all of the appetizers and entrees were! We loved everything we had at our tasting too, it was hard to choose. And they were so easy to work with. We went back and forth with them on different options and they were so responsive and considerate of everything we wanted. And we were able to switch things up until very late in the process so it was so nice to have a caterer so flexible!

Hiring Toast Catering for our wedding and rehearsal dinner was one of the best decisions we made when planning our wedding! Their tri-tip is rightly awarded, and my husband and I are still receiving compliments on the wedding food Toast served ; ) Would highly recommend if you want the best quality food with wonderful, thoughtful service!

Not only was Toast a pleasure to work with in the planning process, they made the most delicious food I've ever had at a wedding. Everything our daughter had hoped for they provided. From appetizers to dinner food stations to the dessert station, their food and service was outstanding and memorable in the best possible way!

The only thing you really need to know about Toast is this: multiple guests told us that their food was by far the best wedding food they’d ever had. And we completely agree! Kim, Chef Sam & the entire team at Toast were wonderful every step of the way, even helping us seamlessly navigate multiple postponements forced by the COVID-19 pandemic – they were kind and easy to work with throughout that process and honored all original agreements. They coordinated our linen rentals and desserts with their partners and were a one-stop contact for us, and were very communicative throughout the process. And of course, a caterer’s most important quality is their food, and Toast excelled tremendously on that front! Wedding food is so often “just OK” but as food-lovers it was important to us to have really good food at our wedding. We loved everything we tried at our tasting so much, and we were so excited when that translated to the larger quantities at the wedding itself: every single dish Toast made was superb! Our tray-passed appetizers included ahi tuna wontons, kobe beef sliders, and lumpia – the latter was a major highlight of the wedding as one of our families is Filipino, and it was such a fun (and delicious!) tribute to our culture. Toast generously agreed to make it for our wedding after we saw them post about it on Instagram after another event. It was such a hit! Every part of our buffet dinner was also excellent, from the salads, rolls, mac and cheese, and fingerling potatoes (seriously, even the basics were delicious!) all the way up to the main entrees in a slow-roasted tri-tip and pesto aioli salmon. We also loved the late night pizzas they made for us, and we sourced individual dessert shots, mini pies, and other treats from their partner, Sweet Cheeks. We would recommend Toast in a heartbeat!

Toast catered our wedding at the end of March. They are all around the most amazing caterers in San Diego. The food is seriously some of the best food I have ever eaten in my life. All of the guests at our wedding commented on how incredible the food was. Even our other vendors were coming up to us to tell us how much they loved it all! More than that though the entire team is made up of the most phenomenal people. From the owners, Kim and Sam, to the chefs to the servers each and every person was so kind, caring and attentive. Choosing them as our caterers was the easiest part of wedding planning for sure! Our tasting with them was such a beautiful experience. From then until the day of the wedding they took such great care of us. We love Toast Catering and highly highly recommend them. Thank you guys again for being a part of making our wedding the best day of our lives!

We were fortunate enough to have Toast cater our wedding this past summer. We knew from the tasting that Chef Sam was extremely talented. We were so happy with the entire process when working with Sam and Kim. Our guests from our wedding are still raving about how incredible the food was. Everything was well-seasoned and served warm. We had a plated dinner for 145 people. I'm still dreaming about the crispy eggplant appetizer and leek tarragon salmon!

Kim and the Toast team were beyond incredible. They really are putting their all in to ensure that your day is perfect. They were really thoughtful and packed up some food for us to take when we left too! Immediate snacks made for a happy post-wedding couple, let me tell you! Our point of contact changed over the course of the pandemic, and you can tell that they were really working hard to keep the same level of care even with a smaller staff. In addition, the food itself was also really good! I still dream about the grilled cheese bar! Thank you Toast team!

We hired Toast for our wedding in August 2021. The food was nothing short of AMAZING, and we had multiple guests tell us it was the best wedding (buffet) food they had ever had. One guest doesn't even like steak, and she loved the tri-tip - that good! Also, I am gluten/dairy free with a list of different food allergies and they catered 90% of the menu to my restrictions without diminishing the quality or flavor of the food. I highly recommend hiring Toast.

We loved having Toast cater our wedding! The food was amaaazzziiiinngg, especially the tri-tip! We and our guests really enjoyed the food. Toast also provided plates, utensils, and chairs, making it a one stop-shop! The only reason why I rate them 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the rare situation with miscommunication when the liaison I was working with left Toast Catering and I was not informed/she didn't inform Toast Catering about the event. In the end, everything was figured out and Toast helped make our wedding day be memorable!

My fiance and I have absolutely loved our experience with Toast Catering! Once we had our menu tasting with them, we cancelled the other tasting we had planned because we knew we were going to hire them! Their food is so delicious and they did an amazing job personalizing our menu. We are planning the small stations for our wedding! As our May 30th, 2020 wedding gets closer and the COVID-19 situation begins to push us into potentially rescheduling, Jaclyn from Toast has been so supportive and helpful. We are so excited to have Toast cater our wedding whenever it happens!

Amazing food and service! Kim and Sam know how to run a great show. From the start they were professional, catered to our needs, and delivered what we had in mind to make our wedding top notch. Our guests are still raving about the food, the bar, and the wonderful staff that played a role in making our wedding run seamlessly. 5 stars all around and highly recommended for those in the market for an event caterer.

Toast catered my wedding last week and people are still talking about how good the food was. They loved our tray passed apps and the meal was amazing. People have literally said it was the best food they have ever eaten at a wedding. The initial tasting was fantastic and both Sam and Kim came out and talked about if there were things we would want to change/do differently. My husband has some diet restrictions, so they were more than willing to tailor food accordingly. This personal approach was definitely why we decided to go with them (in addition to the food being amazing). The presentation of their food is also much more appealing than some of the other groups we tasted with or places I saw photos of. I also had the pipe dream of having a churro bar and chocolate fountain, and even though I don't doubt it was a pain in the ass, they made it happen. And it was phenomenal! People were so excited to have something different than just the usual cake. I really just wish i could eat their food on the regular. Still dreaming about Japanese fried eggplant. Check them out and you will not be disappointed!

TOAST did an amazing job with our wedding. We were so impressed after our tasting that we booked them on the spot and my in-laws ended up booking them for the rehearsal dinner too! Christa was great to work with and so positive and accommodating with all the contract revisions throughout the process as we added things and fine tuned headcount, etc. We received many compliments on the food at both the rehearsal and the reception. The tri-tip was phenomenal!!! Thank you Kim, Sam and Christa!

Toast catering is a great group to work with, and the people at the top, Kim & Sam, are lovely, friendly people. In addition to catering our wedding in La Jolla, Toast provided bartenders and a "soft bar" package, which made serving our signature cocktails much easier. Kim and her staff really know their stuff when it comes to event catering, and they helped make everything run smoothly during our big days. Last but not least, the food that Toast offers is fresh and delicious, the presentation is perfect, and the price is tough to beat. You'll be in great hands with Toast catering your next event!

I cant say enough about working with Toast Catering. It was a great and easy experience from start to finish. On top of delicious food, they are so professional, friendly and were so willing to work with us (despite my dozens of emails with questions and revisions). Of things that were really, truly important on my wedding day, the food was at the top of the list (followed by the dress and the photography), and Toast came through with flying colors. The food was amazing and the service was impeccable. A word from the groom: The owners, Kim and Sam, are catering masters!

Kim and Sam were great from the start. The food is tasty, a great combo of French classic with a California coastal twist. Kim's attention to detail is impeccable and she seamlessly helped fix an issue with staffing when the separate bartending service was under-prepared. We were so impressed by the friendliness and excellent service their staff provided, as were our guests. I would definitely recommend them again!
