Lighting Up Your Special Day
Tom Ham’s Lighthouse is a waterfront wedding venue located on the shores of San Diego, CA. A captivating backdrop for your joyous occasion, it offers incredible cuisine, lavish event space, and impeccable views of the San Diego Bay and Downtown skyline. Creating beautiful moments for almost half a century, the devoted staff is committed to giving your Southern California wedding an extra hint of sunshine.
With a passion for adventure and history, Tom Ham first arrived in San Diego in 1955, and spent over a decade revitalizing struggling restaurants. The jewel in his crown, Tom Ham’s Lighthouse, was opened in 1971 and quickly became known for its stunning views and vibrant ambience. After he passed away just two years later, Tom’s Lighthouse continued as a family business for over three decades being completely remodeled in 2014. Designed by renowned architect Graham Downes, this full renovation was inspired by Tom’s original vision, adding a seaview patio and an event space.
Striving to reach the standard of service set by their grandfather almost five decades ago, Tom’s grandsons currently oversee the day-to-day business of the restaurant. They are committed to providing every guest with an enchanting dining experience and an atmosphere of refined comfort. Warmth and splendor exude from every inch of this venue, making it a superb setting for any wedding celebration.
With a variety of event spaces available, Tom Ham’s Lighthouse accommodates a range of weddings, with a maximum capacity of 230 guests. For spectacular open-air ceremonies, their stunning outdoor site offers panoramic views of both the sea and the city. The California Room features a dance floor and a secluded patio while the Harbor View Room has stunning surroundings and is ideal for intimate celebrations. With room for up to 40 guests, the Private Dining Room is perfect for smaller groups and rehearsal dinners. An experienced catering staff is on hand to provide an array of delicious menu items ranging from freshly prepared seafood to sumptuous menu options. Whatever your celebration needs may be, they will ensure that every whim is catered to, and every wish is fulfilled. For a wedding that truly shines, look no further than this stunning lighthouse venue.

We had the best experience from start to finish with Tom Ham’s Lighthouse for our wedding day. Communicating with Lisa and Laugan leading up to the wedding was extremely easy and stress free. The food was amazing and many of our guests were raving that it was the best wedding meal they’ve had. You cannot beat the views for the ceremony and reception spaces. I would fully recommend this venue to other San Diego couples!
Tom Ham's is a beautiful venue with great food and beautiful views. We hosted both our ceremony and reception in the California Room. The planning process went smoothly, and the coordinators were easy to work with, which we really appreciated.
Unfortunately, the service we experienced on our wedding day in April 2024 left us disappointed and overshadowed what could have been a perfect day. The staff lacked basic hospitality—there were no smiles or signs of customer service, drinks were slid across the bar without care, and some of our international guests were denied alcohol even though they had proper passports and IDs.
Additionally, the staff cleared tables far too quickly, often removing plates and drinks before guests were finished (received a lot of feedback from our guests), which resulted in wasted food and money. Many of our guests barely had a chance to enjoy their meals or even our wedding cake before it was discarded. For a wedding, this kind of rushed service felt unnecessary and inconsiderate. While the food itself was good, the poor service left a lasting negative impression. It seemed like the staff forgot they were working a wedding. Given the amount we paid, having attentive and respectful service should have been a given - at a bare minimum. We were also charged a 25% service fee automatically, which seems completely unfair for the level of service received.
We reached out to the venue after the wedding to share our concerns but received no response, which was incredibly frustrating and disheartening. While Tom Ham's has so much potential as a wedding venue, our experience with the staff and lack of follow-up makes it hard for us to recommend.
Tom Ham’s has been our family favorite for many years! We have had two weddings, 50th Anniversary and a retirement party here. The location cannot be beaten and staff is very accommodating. The food was delicious and service delightful. Impress your guests and know that you are creating a memory not to be forgotten.
Any questions?
Our wedding at Tom Ham’s Lighthouse was amazing. The staff was so easy to worth with. Leading up to the event they answered emails promptly and always answered our questions and made sure we had all the information we needed. During the wedding itself all the onsite folks were so helpful and kind. We had a small wedding (35 people) and no wedding planner, so the ease of communication was extra appreciated in our planning process. The Harbor View room was great for the small size group and patio was a beautiful spot for our ceremony and enjoyed all evening by our guests. We got lots of compliments on the beautiful location and how delicious the food was. HIGHLY recommend!
Tom Ham's Lighthouse was the perfect venue for our small wedding. When we stepped into the ceremony space, we instantly knew that this would be our venue because of the stunning backdrop of downtown and the bay. The staff was very responsive and helpful throughout the entire planning process. Their Harbor View reception room comfortably fitted our 65 guests. We loved the buffet and highly recommend the Sirloin and Sesonal Fish. The guests were raving about the Creamy Green Beans & Mushrooms. The value and cost were truly unbeatable compared to every other wedding venue in San Diego. The only drawback was the end time. Our wedding went from 4-10 pm, but the music and drinks had to end at 9:30 pm. Overall, highly recommend Tom Ham's Lighthouse, especially if you're having a smaller wedding.
Tom Ham's Lighthouse is hands down the best wedding venue in the San Diego County. We've toured multiple venues in various locations and nothing even came close to this one. Their pricing was very reasonable considering the location and the amazing view, the food was delicious (which we found to be pretty uncommon for weddings), and the staff were great. They have a beautiful ceremony space right on site with minimal deco needed (if any) and provide all the furniture, linens and other basic necessities, so you don't need to worry about rentals. Laugan and Lisa (event coordinators) were very responsive and easy to work with. The venue has plenty of free parking and is located at the very end of Harbor Island, which was perfect for us. We could not be more happier to have had our ceremony and reception at Tom Ham's.
Tom Ham's Lighthouse was the cornerstone of our wedding that truly tied everything together to make our day amazing!
The backdrop of San Diego, Coronado Island, and the ocean was absolutely beautiful! The outdoor ceremony area on site near the ocean made it magical. The convenience of having a beautiful ceremony location and reception at the same venue was convenient for guests.
Laugan and Lisa with the events staff were great and responsive in communicating and easy to work with. We had a great experience with our food tasting prior to the wedding. All of the food choices were phenomenal and the entire venue looked amazing!
Highly recommend for a wedding venue!
Amazing venue! Courtney is so easy to work with. She was hired on about a month before my wedding so I was a little anxious but she is phenomenal! The location is amazing and the food was delicious! It was a perfect wedding location and absolutely gorgeous. I have only received compliments from guests about the venue and the food. It was wonderful (and also an amazing place just to have dinner), highly recommend. I can’t imagine having had my wedding anywhere else
This was the perfect waterfront wedding venue for us, we love the food and beautiful views there. When the pandemic started we thought we were going to have to postpone, but thankfully Tom Ham's Lighthouse made a few logistical changes and we were still able to have a small October wedding. Perla was so organized, professional, and helpful throughout the whole process. We were able to have our reception outdoors and our guests absolutely loved the view and the food. The wedding ran perfectly and all of the staff was so kind and professional. I highly recommend Tom Ham's Lighthouse for the most beautiful wedding day!
Such a pleasure working with Perla. She is very professional, always responded quickly to all of my questions, and was very detailed. The venue is gorgeous, and the wedding packages are perfect.
Thank you Tom Ham's Lighthouse!
Planning a wedding during COVID is no easy feat but you CAN have the wedding of your dreams with vendors like Tom Ham's. Pre-Covid, TH was always my dream wedding venue. We snagged our date after touring the venue. You cannot beat the location and view. Wow, I am now so glad I chose TH. With all of the regulations put in place there was a time I was worried we would have to postpone or cancel entirely. TH stepped up to the plate and was as cautiously optimistic as I wise that we could pull off a safe and beautiful wedding! Perla is truly incredible! From the beginning, she was organized and detail oriented. We were able to truly have the wedding of our dreams because Perla and TH were able to work with us to create it. Due to COVID, we had a smaller guest list and the biggest change we made was having our reception on the ceremony site. TH did a beautiful job, guests were seated at their reception tables upon arrival. Then after the ceremony, they set up a king's table under the arch. We were able to decorate the outdoor space with papel picado and string lights. We also set up AMOR marquee letters. The wedding was absolutely stunning and I think it was because we were able to have it all on the ceremony site!
Perla was a wonderful coordinator! She made my dream wedding happen safely for us and our guests. Thank you!!
Two days before our scheduled wedding, our venue called and canceled. Our awesome photographer (Katherine Beth Photography) mentioned them, we reached out right away, and with 24hr to spare, we had a venue for our intimate ceremony and lunch. They really felt for us and were able to work some magic around another event that day just to help us out (shout out to the coordinator Perla - PRAISE)! By the time we got there, ur story had circulated the staff and they could not have been more accommodating. One of the owners (Andy) was there and stepped right in there, didn't even realize who he was at the time. Tom Ham's offer such gorgeous views, great food, and amazing service! They helped make our day SO special and for that we are forever grateful. If you are looking for a San Diego venue, don't leave this place off the list!
Having our wedding at Tom Ham's Lighthouse was special for me because I used to eat brunch there with my grandparents when I was young. Even though I had been there before to eat, as soon as I viewed the ceremony site and California Room as a bride, I knew I wanted to get married there. It was the best idea we made. We had our wedding of 104 people in the California Room on 11/16/2019.
Throughout the planning process Perla and Brooke were amazingly responsive, which eased my anxious mind. As soon as I would email, they would respond within an hour or two! They were extremely professional and you could tell right away they knew what they were doing. My husband and I were extremely grateful to have worked with such professionals. There were many times I would email them to ask if we could do something for our reception, and they were always so warm and accommodating! They allowed us to bring in our own homebrewed beer as wedding favors (as long as they weren't opened at the wedding). The building and beautiful view added so much to our wedding photos and videography! It was the perfect setting to get married.
The wedding day itself went PERFECTLY. I had heard so many venue horror stories from friends who had gotten married, and we had NONE. The ceremony site was perfect and the view was gorgeous! All of our local and particularly our out of town guests could not get over how beautiful the view of the harbor is. They all loved having cocktails out on the patio and enjoying the view through sundown into the night time. The food was delicious, the open bar we paid for was extremely affordable and WORTH IT. So many guests commented on the great choice of beers, and the availability of tray passed alcohol at the cocktail hour so there were no annoying long bar lines! The waitstaff was amazing and polite. I felt like they really valued taking care of us and our guests. There was another wedding going on in the room next door the same day, which I was worried about, but honestly you couldn't even tell! I seriously loved it so much, my only wish is that our wedding day could have been longer! So many friends were texting me up to two weeks after saying ours was one of the best weddings they have been to and I think a large part of that was the venue! Tom Ham's Lighthouse had the perfect mix of great food, service, and classiness, while still being one of the more affordable places we looked at. If you're still looking for a venue, you should definitely go to Tom Ham's Lighthouse.
We are so happy we got married at Tom Ham's! Both out of town guests and locals were wowed by the views of the Bay and the San Diego skyline, which remained beautiful in the background even after the sun went down.
Our ceremony photos look beautiful under the icon arch they have onsite, and it felt very private and secluded despite the restaurant being steps away.
With a guest count of 140 people, we opted for both the Harbor View Room for Cocktail Hour and the California Room for the reception. The flow worked really well.
We received several compliments on our food; their staff even accommodated a unique off-menu late night food request which our guests loved!
The staff was super easy to work with throughout the planning process, answering many questions and working with us on the different packages offered.
We have a go-to spot for our anniversary now, not something you can say for every wedding venue!
The food, the venue, the waitstaff, absolutely everything was perfect having our wedding at Tom Hams. It was truly the most classy venue. People are still raving about the food, saying it’s the best wedding food they’ve ever had. But the wedding coordinators Brooke and Perla truly made planning our wedding seamless. Most wedding venues you have to get your own coordinator. These two women helped me with every detail and made our wedding day the best day ever. Hands down the best venue to get married at in San Diego!
We got married her this August at Tom Ham. Brooke and Perla were so incredibly helpful every step of the way. They were thorough in answering ever little question we had before hand in a very timely manner and with high levels of customer service. They were invaluable at the rehearsal and day off. We even had a few folks show up without RSVP-ing and they helped take care of it immediately with no stress. Day of the set up staff as well as wait staff were extremely professional and efficient. We have received so many compliments on the venue as well as how great the food was. 100% recommend to any future brides. They made planning a wedding stress free! Additionally the view is unreal and the facilities are very updated.
We had our wedding here 3 weeks ago and were blown away with the whole experience Tom Ham's provided. Brooke, Perla, the event team, and the rest of the staff were amazing to work with. I sent emails over the past year asking questions, making requests, and trying to get my details all in order. Brooke was always on top of emailing me back very quickly, giving answers, offering great options, and being so very helpful!
The venue is one of a kind. It is on the water and offers spectacular views, especially as the sun sets over the cityscape. Tom Ham's staff made the atmosphere of our wedding one of a kind.
The food was incredible. I am still having people reach out to me about it being the best wedding food they have ever had. We had the short-ribs and salmon. The team had a solution for guests with allergies, allowed us to work out different options with the meal and drink packages, and make changes throughout the process. The service was amazing, the servers were very kind, efficient, and attentive.
I also still have guests reaching out about Tom Ham's being the most beautiful wedding location they have ever seen. Their ceremony site and reception allow for a great all-inclusive wedding venue.
And surprisingly enough, despite Tom Ham's being incredible all the way around, it is still an affordable option for a wedding! If I was asked one aspect I could change about the venue and the service they provided, I would not be able to come up with a single thing.
I highly recommend Tom Ham's Lighthouse for a delicious dinner and beautiful view, but more than that for a wedding or big event in your life, because you will not be disappointed. I am seriously blown away by this place! My husband and I cannot wait to go back!
This is the most beautiful venue! Brooke and her team were awesome and so great to work with. I couldn't have imagined a better experience. We got so many compliments on our food, the ceremony site and the reception views! Many people told my parents it was the nicest wedding they had ever been to.
The food, the service, and EVERYTHING was just perfect. Such an amazing night and this venue was absolutely perfect. Everything from the first meeting with the event coordinators all the way until we paid the tab at the end of the night was perfect, easy, smooth and I would do it all again. Thank you guys for making our night perfect and unforgettable and thank you for the amazing service!!

All of our guests remarked how fantastic the food was, most saying it rivaled the best they've ever had for a wedding. On top of that, the drinks were great, the staff was very attentive, and of course, the views were spectacular.
If you're considering having your ceremony and/or reception at Tom Ham's, don't think twice!
We got married here in October 2017 and absolutely loved it. We chose to do our ceremony and reception at Tom Hams. Brooke was our main point of contact and was wonderful! She answered my many questions via email almost immediately. Come the day of the wedding I knew I would have nothing to worry about. Everything turned out amazing and the venue was a hit with all our out of town guests. Thank you Tom Hams for helping to make our day perfect!
We had our December 2017 wedding ceremony at Tom Ham's with the reception afterwards in the Harbor View Room. The room was just the right size for our party (68 people). Throughout the whole process the staff were extremely helpful. Beth, the catering manager, ensured that we got food during the cocktail hour and during our meal. Brooke and Perla were also on hand during the rehearsal and the ceremony to ensure everything went off without a hitch. The views of downtown San Diego and the harbor were fantastic and we can't wait to see how our photos turned out! Overall, we were very pleased with the entire event.
We were married on 8/9/17 and this venue is insanely amazing! The view is gorgeous, the staff is so helpful and kind and the food is to die for! Perla and Brooke helped us in the planning of our big day and these ladies are fantastic! I wish I knew everyone's names to thank them personally. Seriously best venue in San Diego!!
We used Tom Ham's for our wedding, and couldn't be happier. We had lots of out of town guests who were blown away by the view and AMAZING food. Kelsey was very helpful along the way when we were planning, and the staff did an incredible job the whole night, especially when we were thrown a curveball and had to move the ceremony inside at the last minute due to rain. We definitely made the right choice, Tom Ham's was great!
Tom Ham’s Lighthouse is a beautiful place to get married and/or have an event reception. With the venue being right on the water with a perfect view of downtown San Diego (that’s perfectly framed by the ceremony area arch), it was an ideal place to have a wedding in San Diego. Here’s the highlights:
The good:
+Food tasted great and was beautifully presented
+Waiters/waitresses and bartenders provided fantastic service
+If you get both rooms, the entire bottom floor is dedicated to your event so it feels pretty private
+The view is breathtaking!
+They provide the following so you don’t have to rent: Nice white chairs for the ceremony, nice gold chairs for the reception, tables, napkins, plates, utensils, and glasses. They also provide tablecloths, however they are NOT floor length, so we rented these.
The bad:
-The air conditioning was either not working or not functioning so people didn’t want to get on the dance floor because it was so hot. The few people who were on the dance floor would literally run outside to gasp for drenched in sweat. We had a late August wedding, so it was about 75 degrees as a ‘high’ for the day, and by night fall it was about 69 degrees. With 150 people, the temperature inside was unbearable. My wedding coordinator and I both asked the Tom Hams event coordinator and the manager multiple times to cool down the room, but supposedly there was nothing else they could do, despite the fact that not one vent had cold air coming out of it. I’m not sure what the reason was for the lack of A/C, but it really put a damper on the night since no one was dancing.
-The entire bottom floor is comprised of 2 rooms. If you only book one room, the venue doesn’t give you first right of refusal if there are other interested parties for the other room. The rooms are not soundproof at all and you’d be sharing a balcony (they would just put fake walls to separate the balcony
-The ‘beef’ options are either sirloin steak or short-rib. We wanted to go with the ‘steak’ option, but ‘sirloin’ doesn’t necessarily sound that great on a menu/RSVP card. So we had to pay an extra $28pp+ 20% service fee + 8% tax to upgrade to New Yorks
-We had booked the venue 14 months in advance of our wedding date and we had been working with Stephanie, their events coordinator. One month before our wedding, Stephanie no longer worked at there. One month before our wedding, and the person we had been working with for 13 months just vanished! No ‘transition’ email, no ‘FYI’, we had to figure it out by asking the question ourselves! Very unprofessional.
-The set up time is extremely tight. You are only guaranteed 1 hour before your event start time to set-up. When we signed the contract, we didn’t realize how unreasonable this was. If there isn’t another event before yours, then you can set up earlier, but they only guarantee more time if you buy more time ($600/hr) or if a week out they don’t have another event. They even tried to get out of guaranteeing the extra time a week before our event date, even though no one else had an event on our day.
-If you buy the ceremony package (an extra $700 fee), just know this only pays for the set up fees; this doesn’t give you extra time in the contract, so you only have 6 hours for the entire event (ceremony, cocktail hour, reception) and you have to shut off the music 30 minutes before your event ending time. Everything felt rushed, even with only a 30 minute ceremony and 1 hour cocktail hour.
Growing up in San Diego I had never thought of Tom Hams for my wedding until they had their remodel. My fiancé and I knew the moment we stepped under the arch at the ceremony area, that this is where we would get married. You just cannot beat the view!!
Working with Brooke was wonderful. I was a very organized Bride but even the most organized Bride's forget things. Brooke was relaxed and accommodating to all the last minute changes. I had a separate day-of coordinator who was a family friend and Brooke worked so well with her. Had I not had my family friend, I completely would have been fulfilled as a bride to have her run the show the day-of. In addition to Brooke, was our dinner captain Beth. Beth was amazing. During our one on one photos during the cocktail hour she brought my husband and I drinks and plates of food. She checked on us throughout dinner. At one point, one of our guests noticed a guy lurking at the gift table. Beth, within seconds had her staff move the table into the reception room (from the cocktail room). Our bartender, Eljae, was also great. He was fun and chatted with us before the wedding began. He took great care of my guests!
In addition to the staff, the venue itself, I believe, is a great deal. I was definitely on a budget and their packages were a great fit for my needs. I had a few things brought in by Concepts such as pipe and drape to cover the server doors, market lights, chargers and full-length table linens. Tom Hams provided the napkins and they have a great runner for the ceremony. My favorite part about Tom Hams is that the gold chiavari chairs are INCLUDED! With 50% of the guest being from or of town Tom Hams was perfect. They received a great view of San Diego, had a hotel (The Hilton) at walking distance and the airport next door. Thank you Brooke and your entire team!! I cannot wait to have my anniversary dinners here in the future.
We had our wedding ceremony and reception at Tom Ham's Lighthouse on May 7th, 2016 and it was fantastic. The venue is absolutely beautiful and the staff helped our event run smoothly. There were sail boats floating behind us during the ceremony and it was so epic haha.
We had a total of 60 guests and we selected the Harbor View Room. The size was perfect for our needs. Our head table was served first and everyone else was served minutes later. The food came out hot and the servers were all attentive.
Our guests enjoyed the patio overlooking Downtown San Diego and the Coronado Bridge. I don't think you can get a better view. There was also plenty of parking, being that the location is tucked away from any major roads. I would highly recommend this venue!
We decided on Tom Ham's based on their menu- food was THE thing we wanted to treat our guests with and our menu did not disappoint! I wanted an "all in one" place for our wedding- that too was achieved by having our ceremony and reception here! Kelsey got us started and both she and Stephany made sure our day was as stress free as possible! Our wedding became "destination" as we moved after placing the deposit- but I had ZERO worries thanks to the venue we chose! Our guests (and photographer!) raved about the food and the view! I'd rave about the excellent customer service too!
Best Wedding Venue in San Diego! Tom Ham's was great to work with from start to finish. Stephanie, the wedding coordinator, is super responsive, flexible, and knowledgable. We used both rooms, the California Room and the Harbor View room for our 185 guests. Everyone keeps raving about the wedding because of this venue. The service far exceeded our expectation. While my husband and I were taking photos, a server, Beth, brought us drinks and made sure that we got a plate of appetizers for just the two of us. This was so kind and made us feel special. For the incredible view, amazing food, fantastic service, and amazing staff, we feel like Tom Ham's is a great deal compared to other venues in San Diego. Thank you for helping us have the best wedding day ever!
Beautiful venue with spectacular views. My guest were amazed and received nothing but compliments about the venue. You really do not need a lot to decorate because the venue is great by itself. The best part is working with Stephany she is truly wonderful. She made everything so easy. I didnt have a wedding coordinator but I didn't need one with Stephany there. She planned the whole thing and made sure everything ran so smooth. Would highly recommend this venue and its wonderful staff.
The location was beautiful, especially for a sunset reception. Their wedding coordinator was super easy to work with and easy to get/keep in contact with. The food was fantastic (especially the coconut shrimp appetizer). We utilized the California Room for a wedding of about 120 people and had plenty of room with tables, a DJ, dance floor, and photo booth. Cocktail hour and buffet were set up on the outdoor patio which was beautiful. It is a bit expensive, ~10,000 for our 120 people before we added an open bar.
Best wedding venue ever. The view of the harbor was incredible. The food was AMAZING. The staff was impeccable. Just perfect. The banquet manager Stephanie was very accommodating and organized. I would recommend Tom Ham's 100%.
They were awesome through the process leading up to the wedding. The price was very good given the location and view.
I was disappointed to find out by the end of my wedding that my mom's table and other tables did not get cake. My mom never left the table and was not served. My sister asked a server where the rest of the cake was and he pointed to the cake table with a slice left saying that's what's left.
When we were leaving the head caterer asked us what we wanted to do with the half sheet of cake that was left over. I'm disappointed that a restaurant of this class has flaws like this. This is unacceptable lack of communication among the staff. The mother of the bride's table should be one of the first tables to be served not a table thats skipped.
We just had our wedding and rehearsal dinner at Tom Ham's and I can not believe how perfect everything was. The venue is gorgeous, the coordinators are fantastic, all the food came out hot and absolutely delicious. The bartenders were awesome, professional, and never kept anyone waiting. Stephany and Chelsea were always flexible and able to answer all of my questions and accommodate all of our needs throughout the planning process. The ceremony location it stunning, they have done an excellent job! I HIGHLY recommend this venue to anyone looking. They were one of the only wedding venues that actually seemed to enjoy the process of a wedding. We never felt like they were trying to upsell us on anything, they included all the bells and whistles that you would want and expect, and the food is WELL above average. Perfect wedding, thanks to them!
Our wedding at Tom Ham's Lighthouse was absolutely beautiful. We booked the smaller Harbor View room for 80 guests and it was perfect. I was worried it would be too small, especially the dance floor, but it was just right for the intimate feel we were going for. We did long banquet style tables, which were narrower than we expected but worked fine. We wanted linens that were floor length so we had to rent them, as the venue linens are short. We also rented outdoor lounge furniture to take advantage of the patio and the gorgeous views! The wedding coordinator Stephany was great and very accommodating. I would highly recommend this venue to anyone looking for an affordable but elegant experience.
We recently were married at Tom Ham's and the wedding was perfect! The remodel looks beautiful! The room was set up just as we had requested, the service was excellent and the food was delicious! You definitely cannot beat the view of downtown from the California Room! Tom Ham's event team was also great to work with and made sure that our wedding reception was a success!!
They weren't the cheapest but they were the best value. The had space for the ceremony and reception, handled the catering and alcohol and helped stage the ceremony and timeline. The coordinator, Stephany was amazing and attentive and very accommodating.
Tom Ham's Lighthouse was everything my husband and I had wanted. The new arch is beautiful (and doesn't need to be decorated), the banquet manager was professional and quick to respond to any questions, and we were happy with the service provided during the reception.
Tom Hams Lighthouse is more than anyone could ever wish for. The venue is newly remodeled and turned out beautifully with a breath taking views of the harbor and downtown San Diego.
I chose a buffet and the food selection & presentation is still being complimented a month after our wedding. Our hardest decision was selecting our food choices during our tasting appointment because everything was spectacular! The staff was truly top notch assisting our guest and any special needs graciously during the buffet process. The very last dish served was as hot & well presented as the first. (which was a concern) Nicely done!
Stephany who is the Special Event Coordinator was a pleasure & dream to work with. Stephany was available before, during and after the wedding. I choose not to hire a wedding coordinator after my first meeting with Stephany and the Owner Larry. I was reassured Stephany could handle the time line the day of our wedding and she did so in a very professional manner. Our wedding ran smoothly and exactly the way I planned if not better.
All in all, I would give Tom Hams Lighthouse a higher score if I could. My wedding was absolutely perfect in large part to Tom Hams Lighthouse and it's spectacular staff!
Tom Ham's did an excellent job on my rehearsal dinner on the 4th of July. Stephany was wonderful to work with - she was professional, accommodating, and responded to emails promptly. During the dinner, the staff did a perfect job. Our every need was taken care of while at the same time we barely noticed the staff was there (the perfect staffing for an event). And you can't beat the view for the 4th! All of my guests were so impressed with the venue and service.
Tom Ham's Lighthouse was an amazing venue to have our reception. Sitting on the water with a view of the San Diego skyline, our guests were astounded! Not only the location, but the staff, the food, the service were all incredible. TH definitely knows what they're doing when it comes to weddings and it shows. It's also close to 2 hotels which our wedding guests all stayed in. The banquet menu and all-inclusiveness of their pricing can't be beat. And with the recent renovation it looks phenomenal. Thank-you Tom Ham's!!!
This place is perfect for you to have your wedding and/or reception. You have a beautiful view of the San Diego skyline, and if you get married in the summer, you and your guests will get a surprise fireworks show. The food is great, the view is awesome and Judy, the banquet mgr is wonderful to work with. She took away all of my worries. The service was great as well. I give Beth a lot of credit for her hard work. The price is reasonable and we picked the buffet. I highly recommend the food they serve at Tom Ham's. The view is a plus, especially when you have people from out of town attending your wedding.
I had my wedding at Tom Ham's on June 9th, 2012.
From the moment we found the venue until we were done dancing the night away, we had nothing but excellent service. The onsite wedding coordinators went out for their way to make sure everything was perfect. The food was supreme and the one on one time we had with the chef at the tasting was a great feature. The service of the all the staff the day of wedding was excellent! Thank you too them all for making my day so mememorable.
We had our reception at Tom Ham's Light House. Overall, it was a very good experience. The view is spatecular, the food is great quality, and the service is very professional. I think it's a bargain for the price
Tom Ham's is a beautiful venue with great food. There was the issue of my grandma not getting her food until 30 minutes after everyone else at her table was done. Besides that, everything was great.
Excellent venue; amazing service, everyone from the wedding planner to the banquet staff. Everybody raved about the food; good selection on wine list. And the view can't be beat!
Seriously the most perfect wedding venue I could have ever imagined!!! Such a gorgeous view, delicious food at an extremely valuable price (especially if you don't book the wedding package but do it all individually), and excellent service!! I want to re-live this night over and over again!!
We had a great time there. Their food was delicious and the service was also good.
This was the absolute perfect location for us! It had everything we were looking for! Ample free parking, accessible for wheelchair guests, right on the water, skyline view! Everyone we worked with was so nice and our ceremony and reception went off without a hitch.
There was another wedding the same night, but there was no interference and we hardly even noticed it was going on.
Only complaint (looking back at our pictures) is that the paint was pealing on the cement patio. Not really a big deal, but it did show up in our pictures.
Beautiful view, great food, received a lot of complements on the venue. Compared to other venues we checked, this is a great value for the price.
Tom Ham's was a great location for our Rehersal Dinner. Everyone loved the food and of course the beautiful view. We had our own private room and did the food buffet style. They did not disappoint, and it was a perfect place to start off our wedding.
We had a great experience with Tom Ham's Lighthouse. Judy and Stephany were great to work with and very friendly. We had a tasting of our top four choices and they were all great. We even had the chance to meet with the restaurants Chef who was very nice and agreeable to any of our requested changes (e.g., light on the seasoning).
The day of our wedding the reception went very smoothly. The appetizers were very good and the main dishes were hot when served. The cake cutting went very smoothly also.
The only item I would suggest is keeping in mind you will only have a six hour window for your reception including the cocktail hour. In addition, music has to stop half an hour before your reception ends.
Overall, I would definitely recommend to hold your reception at Tom Ham's Lighthouse! They have awesome views of the bay!
Beautiful views, courteous staff and organized coordinators. Tom Ham's made our wedding experience unforgettable and worry-free. They definitely took care of us the day of the wedding, making sure we had enough to eat and drink and asking us if there was anything we needed. Judy and Stephany were very willing to answer any questions we had leading up to the day. They were responsive both by email, by phone and even in person when we would show up to show our family the venue. The appetizers and food for the buffet option were delicious - guests couldn't stop raving about how much they loved it! Thank you so much Tom Ham's for making our wedding day a dream come true. You're the BEST!
Tom Ham's was AWESOME! We had our ceremony and reception there and everything was gorgeous. You don't need a ton of decorations except on your tables and arch because the surrounding scenery and decor in the reception rooms are beautiful on their own. Everyone at Tom Ham's were so helpful. They really made sure everything was set up in the way that I wanted and were just so nice. No one was rude at all! Everything went really smoothly because they really listened to what we wanted. We highly recommend Tom Ham's!
I loved the view of the harbor and downtown and that there was an outdoor patio. The food was very good and the buffett table and food presentation was wonderful.;They told me they would have waiters serving the hors d'eouvres, but they just set them on burners for people to serve themselves. Also, I called in advance to tell them we had 2 vegeterians and 2 picky kids and they said they could serve themselves from the buffett and they would only charge for 1 for the vegeterian and 1 for the kids, then at the end of the night they said they didn't know what my dad was talking about and also charged us for my 2 wedding coordinators who left at the start of dinner and never ate. When I called the next week to get the 4 dinners taken off they apologized and said it would be taken care of immediately, but after several weeks I had to call back to remind them and it was finally taken care of. I know 4 dinners sounds minute, but at $55/plate that adds up quickly.
I loved the outside patio area overlooking downtown San Diego and the Coronado bridge. Everything was set up beautifully. The on-site wait staff were VERY friendly and accomadating.;As a first time bride I wasn't a fan of the event coordinator. She seemed very short with me over the phone and in person. Realizing that she's probably a very busy lady I think she should take into consideration that we're spending a lot of money for our once in a lifetime event. I would have prefered a little more 'catering to.'
The view of downtown San Diego; The food was marginal at best. And we had our reception toward the holidays and they had REALLY tacky decor - like WalMart shiny foil bells and things- hanging up and gave me a HUGE problem getting them down
I loved that we had a patio for guests to mingle and see the view of the water. The buffet was classy and the food was great.;The catering manager Judy was rude and difficult to work with. Tried to raise prices in our contract the week before our event. The wait staff during the day of was awesome however.
Great skyline; beautaful view. You can see all of downtown. Outdoor and indoor area for guest. Good price for food and drinks. the room was right over the watter.;Book ahead of time.
The San Diego skyline the vast openesss of the balcony and the sea. An unobstructed view of San Diego. Boats in the bay. The food was great! The guests still rave about the location.;Need to tape down your aisle runner if a strong breeze blows.
The room was perfectly set up for my small wedding. The outdoor buffet and cocktail area had a breathtaking view.;There is another reception room right next door to the one I was in. There was a large wedding party there celebrating on the same day. I was worried that we would hear their party but we really couldn't even tell!! But if you want your day to be YOUR day you may want to make sure there isn't another party. Like I said we HONESTLY couldn't tell the other party was there.
The view was fantastic for the price. All the guests commented on it. Also abundant FREE parking. The filet mignon was delicious the rest of food OK. The staff who worked the reception were wonderful.;The room is a bit oblong which creates line of site issues. I would not fill this room to capacity unless you don't care about people seeing the dance floor. We had about 115 people and many were far away from the main action. They also tend to nickle and dime you to death - I guess because their prices are so reasonable given the location. For example they charged us $100 to move the dance floor to the only reasonable site in the room and even though we only had 115 people but paid for the required 150 AND had a fully hosted premium bar they didn't comp us a thing.
Tom Ham's took care of everything- they even helped me find a DJ- All my guests raved about the food.
