Owner Jay Raven has been working in radio entertainment since 1995. He has hosted, created, and produced events with as few as 30 to as many as 30,000 guests. As an MC, Jay has announced and hosted events at the Xfinity Theatre, Mohegan Sun, Foxwoods, Boston Garden, the XL Center, arenas, and stadiums, as well as booked, promoted, and DJ'd at many of the premiere clubs in Boston and Hartford. As a wedding DJ, he's performed for celebrities, artists, and professionals throughout New England.
He is co-host of the syndicated "Anna and Raven Show," heard locally on Star 99.9 in Connecticut and WALK 97.5 in New York.
Raven has completed the National Wedding MBA in Las Vegas three times, trained with the creator of The Knot, Carley Roney, and CEO of WeddingWire, Timothy Chi, representatives of Chauvet Lighting and other renowned manufacturers, and shared ideas with celebrity wedding coordinator David Tutera on the radio. He won the Hartford Advocates Best Morning Show Award the same year Total Events was inducted into The Knot’s Best of Weddings Hall of Fame.

The lighting looked amazing, Edwin was a fantastic DJ. The two Photo Booth attendants were great as well.
Edwin as the DJ was so attentive to us throughout the night, continuously asked us what we needed and if he could do anything for us. Checked with us before playing anyone’s requests, absolutely nailed our vision with our song choices, etc.

The online portal made organizing our information and song requests so seamless. Jay and Edwin were consistently communicative and easy to work with. Edwin was so knowledgable of music and took our recommendations and curated the perfect wedding playlist that reflected our personal tastes, but also kept up the energy on the dance floor all night long.

And he did just that, always checking in with us throughout the day to make sure we were comfortable and knew what to expect. He even was flexible in getting feedback from us during the reception when we were dying to hear a certain song or wanted to adjust the color of the uplighting. otal Events’ interface (the company website wherein you create your profile and curate the soundtrack to your wedding) was very easy to use and actually made the process enjoyable. As a radio DJ, host and presenter, Jay is approachable, professional, funny and loves/knows music. Total Events’ DJs are also talented and detail-oriented, based on our experience with John Cardona. We handpicked almost every song for every aspect of the day, and it was ECLECTIC to say the least. After a few short calls to discuss during the planning, John made it all flow flawlessly, and seamlessly filled in the blanks where he needed to (if that doesn’t make sense to you right now, trust me, it will). He had a better handle on the order of things than we did on our wedding day—which took a lot of stress off of us. Our wedding was all about great food, wine, people and music. That last one sets the vibe, cadence and tempo of the whole day, and, Total Events helped us nail it. I can go on, but will end by saying that they are personable, professional and collaborative, and I recommend their services 100%.

He played the songs we had specifically requested and even went along with the vibe of the room when it came to picking out different type of music. t professional and organized of anyone we met with, and we were pleased to work with him throughout the process. Jay matched us up with John Cardona as our DJ who did an amazing job on our wedding day, playing all of the music we requested and keeping the energy going throughout the night.
Total Events provided us with a login to their website to add songs for both the ceremony and reception. There was also a section where we could provide information related to announcements such as introductions, dances, cake cutting, the bouquet toss, etc. which enabled the DJ to keep the timeline of events moving along smoothly throughout the entire evening. It was easy to use the website and during meetings with Jay and John we were able to use it together to ensure we were all on the same page.
We also used their open air photobooth which included props, a guest book, stickers, and two attendants who set everything up and helped the guests throughout the night. Our guests all loved the music and the photobooth and so did this bride and groom!
Another feature that was helpful for our venue was the addition of extra uplighting. Our venue was a moody, darker, romantic atmosphere so the option to add extra uplighting was especially helpful for the photographers. way. He knew exactly what to say, he made us comfortable, he talked in ways that we just understood and fell in love. He paired us with DJ John Cardona, who was simply amazing. A few meetings, a worksheet, videos and photos is all it took. The day of the wedding, I didn’t even receive a phone call, John was at the venue, setting up the chapel and the reception. I did not even for a second have to think oh I wonder if my DJ is here or ready! We heard his practice from the venue bridal suite and I just wanted to run down and start dancing. Next thing I knew I was crying, my music was playing in the chapel, John nailed it. The entire place filled with tears, they were so moved by the music, and then finally seeing me walk down. Then comes the reception, he already lined everyone up, talked to our bridal party, and started off the night. I was told later that night that John threw his back out.. I had no idea, he did my entire wedding, no sweat. He killed it!!!! The entire place was dancing the entire night. He was absolutely amazing in so many ways. John is super talented, and only took requests from me, which was already noted in my work sheet when we talked. I loved every single second of our wedding night. I will forever use Total Events!! Leading up to the event, the communication was good and enough, and the website was pretty easy to use. There's a extensive selection in the music section, and you can add songs that aren't there. Finally, our wedding was under 100, but it was clear that they could produce a bigger wedding, and I was pleased that they provided the right package for us.
