Carrie Gentry was our planner. She ghosted us after contracting her and talking for a couple months. She seems nice and helpful and offers to do a lot of tasks for you but provides NO RESULTS. After I asked her to work on our save the dates and catering, she said she was working on it for a WHOLE MONTH with no results. When I kept asking for updates, she cancelled our recurring calendar meetings, and completely ghosted us. We emailed her multiple times and even called EVERY SINGLE PHONE NUMBER listed on the website. No luck. Thank goodness we had put our payments on our credit card and were able to contact them to dispute the charges. Otherwise, there would have been no way to get the money back.
The whole thing seems to be a way to SCAM people out of their money. What a messed up thing to do to all the people planning their big day.
P.S she does not have any bad reviews on google or wedding wire. Not sure if she deleted them or what.
0 out of 5 stars. DO NOT USE THIS “company”.
Carrie Gentry, our wedding “planner” completely ghosted me 4 months out of our wedding. They breached their contract by failing to reassign my wedding to a new planner. Carrie did not plan a single thing for my wedding yet kept over $2,000 in my payment for full service planning. They’ve failed to refund my payments and have not responded to my written notices or voicemails.
DO NOT BOOK HERE!
Carrie was our planner for both of my daughters weddings- 2019 & Sept 2022. For the first wedding, we had a good experience overall minus a few hiccups. I hired her again when my other daughter got engaged. We had 10 months and I figured we were familiar with each other enough that we could pull it off. I was very wrong. Carrie's positive points are that she is very creative and has a great network of vendors. The negative is her lack of communication throughout the process which results in days or weeks of not hearing back from her. During this 10 months, it always seemed we were really pushing her to stay on task. Especially the 90 days ahead of the wedding. In most of our meetings, she was distracted multitasking with other clients or her child. It was unsettling throughout. It felt like we were getting little scraps of her time and that she wasn't really into it. Tasks that her assistants were supposed to be doing we not done so I just did them myself. It was as though she relied on planning software more than real communication. As a result of this, my daughter rarely knew what she needed to be doing and she took on many tasks that she never should have had to with a full time planner. It added constant stress and unnecessary confusion.Fast forward to 10 days before the wedding and Carrie went totally dark. (No calls, texts, emails - nothing). We realized that many of her tasks were not done, even though we were told they were. Four days ahead of wedding we finally received an email from an "offshore automated assistant" that could not make phone calls that was supposedly responding to her emails. He was no help at all. The same day, her mom texted us that Carrie was under the weather. Her mom actually asked ME for a list of what needed to be done! 3 days out and Carrie didn't answer her phone. I was told that a woman named Marian was going to be the lead planner w/ 2 other people there. I spoke with her the next day. She didn't show up at rehearsal the next day. I had to run the rehearsal myself! My daughter was in town from out of state for wedding week and at this point we had taken over everything, and had been working day and night trying to do what the planner was supposed to have done. What was to be a fun pre-wedding week was a chaotic mess. On the wedding day, Marian showed up w/ another woman. They knew ZERO about anything to do with the wedding. She couldn't even access the event planning software from her phone to see anything. I spent my daughter's wedding day completely stressed out and angry working on all of the details/setup, answering questions constantly - doing Carrie's job - instead of enjoying my daughter's wedding. My daughter had a similar experience as the bride, answering questions all morning she did not know and should not have had the answers for. Though other vendors stepped up, so many important details we had well thought out were missed! More importantly though, the lack of genuine care, consideration and professionalism from the one person who was supposed to be guiding us along the way, was something we would have never expected in a million years from ANY wedding planner. It will be hard to ever remember that day with complete fondness because of how disgraceful of a situation we were put in. This is very difficult for me to write because Carrie is a sweet woman, but this should never happen to anyone else. We still have never heard from her since 10 days prior to the wedding.
DO NOT USE Touch of Elegance as your wedding planner! Very
unreliable and unresponsive. We chose this company after having a meeting with one their planners, Carrie Gentry, and thought this would have been a good fit. We were wrong! We chose the package of 60 days service with the idea that the planner will start the job 60 days from our wedding. We have not heard anything from Carrie at the beginning of the service date. After the start of service date, we had to call the office several times before we got a hold of her assistant. Her assistant stated that she will call us back when she is available. After a week, she contacted us. We provided her the info for all of our vendors and her job was to coordinate time and plan out the wedding with the venue, she never did that. We planned the whole day ourselves. The week of the wedding, Carrie disappeared on us again, this time is was due to a medical emergency. We found this out because our venue coordinator never heard from her and reached out to her via email. Which then Carrie assistant emailed us back 3 days prior to our wedding stating Carrie was ill. The night before our wedding rehearsal, Carrie's assistant (new wedding planner) Marian contacted us to gather information on our wedding and wedding rehearsal. We gave the vendor list to Marian and gave her the plans for the big day. Marian was so lost! She repeatedly told us she assisted Carrie with weddings and has been a wedding planner for over 10 years. On the day of the rehearsal she was very unprepared. She didn't know the order of procession or vendor setup. Marian had another event to work the day prior to our wedding so she did not contact any of the vendors. THEY NEVER CONTACTED ANY OF THE VENORS. Marian and her assistant Evelyn struggled to coordinate our entire wedding day. We never heard from Carrie herself to follow up about our wedding day or reach out to apologize /explain what happen. WE DID EVERYTHING OURSELVES!! They are a waste of money and we should have went with someone else.
Do not hire!
Carrie and her team are a scam! I also placed a review on google as they have scammed not only myself but soo many innocent people!! The have an act-they act soo nice and make you trust them to the point where you feel comfortable paying them. I paid my deposit in January, my wedding is in October and I have NOT heard from them. I WANT my money back! I tried to contact them via emails and phone calls but no reply. I even filed a complaint via BBB-they we’re also unsuccessful reaching the company. I will be taking legal action.
We could not have enough AMAZING things to say about Carrie and her team. We had a large multi cultural wedding (Russian-Jewish, Indian) and Carrie was extremely helpful with all the details and weekly meetings. But more than that, the weekend events were so smooth and Carrie’s cool and calm manner was exactly what I needed as the bride. She anticipated everyone’s needs and had things done and taken care of before you could even ask her for it. The big parts of the wedding coordination were completed flawlessly but more than that, she helped with minor details including getting me white nail polish after my nails got stained!!
She also helped with last minute edits including our board seating chart the night before the wedding! Carrie is honest and really makes sure that what is important to the couple gets completed. She was always available to us throughout the entire process, 24/7. She and her team were just nice and friendly people, a real pleasure to work with!
We highly recommend this team if you are planning any kind of event!
The Best decision we made!!!!! Touch of Elegance was so helpful with pulling our crazy wedding details together. We were all over the place when we first started working with them. But we had the best team that organized everything for us and I know our day would not have happened if it wasn’t for them!
Carrie could not have been more helpful for my husband and I with planning our wedding. From our original date May 30, 2020 to the many rescheduled dates. She was 100% supportive and responsive the entire time and if she didn't have an answer right away she would always follow up letting us know she was still working on it.
She was so helpful when it came to finding certain vendors and was always fighting to get us the right and fair price.
The day of our wedding she was amazing from dealing with all our vendors, the venue and making sure that I (the bride) didn't know about the small hiccups happening throughout the night. She was amazing along with her assistant! We had the night we have been dreaming of for years and it is all because of her! If we could do the wedding all over I would hire her and her company in a heartbeat!!
Carrie Gentry and the entire team of touch of elegance did an absolutely amazing job! If I could give 10 stars I would! They made the entire planning process go smoothly. My wedding weekend was perfect with no issues whatsoever! All the decorations and planning came out so well. Guests were telling me how this was one of the best weddings they have been too! Carrie was there from the night before helping set up, to early morning the day of the wedding and stayed until the very end to make sure everything was perfect! If you are looking for a planner/day of coordination look no further! I am one satisfied bride 😊
Carrie is seriously a lifesaver. She kept me calm during major construction with our venue and was always keeping me on track with vendors. And she’s the sweetest angel. She’s so sweet! She went above and beyond to try and be cohesive with my vision and was constantly reassuring that it would all come together. And it did! Wedding planning was so stressful but it truly was the best day of my life and I owe all my thanks to Touch of Elegance.
I hired Carrie and her team for my wedding and they were nothing short of amazing. She was in charge of everything happening under the tent (Tables, chairs, candles, decor, place cards, etc) you name it, she did it. They went above and beyond and exceeded all expectations. Carrie was kind, professional and was always a step ahead in preparation. Our big day went off without a hitch and I owe most of that to her. I highly recommend A Touch of Elegance to anyone looking to make their big day run smoothly and look beautiful.
Do NOT use this wedding planner. She took our full payment in December of 2018 for the December 2019 wedding in Detroit. Lots of promises. It was unclear the progress we were making and then suddenly she went radio silent. No emails or phone calls answered in July or August - we had never planned a wedding before so didn’t know what was expected. Dismayed, we told her we must part ways. We asked for 50% of our deposit back- which Carrie Gentry agreed to. We never saw the $3200, despite hiring an attorney who sent her two demand letters. The whole situation was upsetting and disappointing. I can’t believe she is still in business.
In the end we hired a new wedding planner who was extremely professional and made the day a beautiful experience - Luna Soiree Events
I debated writing this review but after reading similar reviews and unsuccessfully trying to resolve issues with Carrie of Touch of Elegance, I feel like people thinking about working with TOE need to be cautioned.
We met a number of planners and ended up choosing TOE because of Carrie’s convincing experience and that she happened to be a former classmate of my husband so we assumed we were in good hands. She connected us to a number of wonderful vendors who were absolutely amazing, however, approximately 6 weeks prior to our wedding Carrie went radio silent. Despite multiple emails, texts and voicemails we heard nothing and had to move forward with changing all of our schedules around to plan and coordinate things on our own.
Approximately 3 weeks prior to our wedding, we received an email from Carrie stating that she was sorry she had been MIA but didn’t have access to email or a phone but was ready to work. At this point though all of our vendors had already stepped up and finalized details with us. We notified her of our disappointment and violation/termination of our contract and requested arefund which she agreed to. Over the course of the next month we sent multiple emails & texts following up on the refund and received no response. We sent a final email explaining that if we did not receive our money back in 48 hours we would report her to the BBB, no response. I filed the complaint and an hour later she “refunded” the money to my mother’s credit card.
After waiting 14 business days per Square’s policy we saw that the money was still not refunded. We went back and checked Square’s policy and if a refund request is submitted 120 days after the transaction Square will not refund it. We followed up again with Carrie after this and have still not received any follow-up.
I would SERIOUSLY CAUTION anyone considering working with TOE, as it is clear they have now on a number of occasions potentially ruined one of the most important days of couple’s lives adding undo stress and burden to an already stressful but should be joyous time
Carrie disappeared from early June to early August in the time leading up to my daughter’s 9/7/19 wedding. That’s over 8 weeks without support. We had to arrange almost everything ourselves for a 200 guest list with multiple events. She showed up by email one day about 3 weeks before the date & said she had been sick with no access to phone or computer! When we cited breach of contract, she agreed to refund our deposit but still spins stories of how the funds are coming. Very disappointed. Extremely unreliable.
I chose Touch of Elegance Events & Designs based on my initial conversation with Carrie. My wedding was a traditional Punjabi Sikh Wedding and Ceremony and Carrie knew all about all of the ceremonies and customs as well as had all the connections I could have needed. Our wedding was beyond perfect, and went off without any issues. That is impressive for a 425 guest outdoor wedding - at our house! Professional and personal, Touch of Elegance is a fantastic company. I highly recommend them for any event planning!
Carrie from Touch of Elegance was really a phenomenal person to have with us throughout the wedding planning process. We hired her as a day-of coordinator and I cannot imagine what our wedding day would have been like without her and her assistant. My husband and I had to plan a wedding in MI from Boston, MA and the whole time she was easy to get in touch with and super kind when I had dumb questions. Carrie made sure our vendors were all synced up and helped with the small decoration details.
I highly recommend Touch of Elegance if you're interested in some planning help.
Carrie and her team at Touch of Elegance are a force to be reckoned with - talented, prompt, calm, and professional. I cannot begin to share all of the ways in which Carrie improved (and saved) our wedding. I recommend her services to anyone who is considering hiring a day-of-coordinator for their wedding. We were married on June 8th, 2019 at the Belle Isle Boat House. The venue is unique and beautiful, but difficult in many ways - you have to bring in everything from tables and chairs to decor. We booked the venue before hiring Carrie, so on our second visit to the venue, we began to get very nervous about our ability to pull off the wedding ... but then we met Carrie. She had solutions to ALL of our questions and concerns. Moreover, even though we only hired her as a day-of-coordinator, she gave us lots of tips during the planning process. On the day of the wedding, the outside of the Boat House flooded. That's right, flooded. AND the elevator was broken. But once again, Carrie and her team led the charge to save the wedding. We sent all of the groomsmen to be her minions and she put them to work. She re-jigged the ceremony layout, got as much of the decor set-up as possible, and honestly saved our wedding. Our friends and family are still talking about how awesome our wedding was - thank you in part to Carrie and Touch of Elegance.
**Do yourself a favor and stay away. Read the recent reviews to get a more accurate picture of this event planning company**
Like another reviewer, I also waited a month after my wedding to write this review. Booked Carrie last year for my summer wedding this year. Got the partial planning package. At first meeting, Carrie seemed exceptional. She was kind and attentive. Seemed very organized. Most of her reviews seemed positive as well. We went ahead and signed the contract. That's where the positive experience ended.
As time went on, Carrie was not responsive at all. My fiancee and I ended up doing most of the leg work. She would respond later with "sorry for the delay" and then still would get nothing done. At one point, Carrie said she couldn't make a meeting with one of our vendors and sent her "assistant" which was literally her dad in sweats. He had no idea what was doing and the meeting with the vendor was poorly led and embarrassing as a result. We brought this up with her immediately and she assured us that she would switch assistants. The next meeting she brought Gale, who I believe is her mother as the business is family run. She was much more professional. She assured us she would be bringing Gale from now on and that Gale would be assisting at the wedding.
We received multiple reassurances like that after things went wrong or didn't get done during the planning process. However, no matter how many reassurances she gave, nothing was delivered. My fiancee and I had to meet with most of the vendors and do a lot of leg work close to the event. Her timeline was horrible and I had to create my own timeline too.
Eventually, after so much hardship, I thought that as long as she could do the day of coordination, I'd be happy. But guess who showed up at our wedding?? Her dad in sweats as her "assistant." And Carrie in sweats and boots. It was ridiculous but it was too late to do anything at that point.
During the wedding, Carrie disappeared multiple times throughout the day "to get things" and our family had to take over things like organizing pictures. We had discussed with her many times how important it was that she run family pictures so things could stay on track. Why she couldn't send her assistant to get things will always be a mystery.
Thankfully, the day ended up going fine overall and we got many compliments. This was surprising and likely due to our hard work beforehand, our separate venue coordinator who was phenomenal, and the open bar (lol).
For some reason, we ended up tipping her which we now really regret. I would NEVER recommend her to anybody. Be wary of the older, positive reviews.
I was so disappointed with my services for my wedding, Im surprised the day went as well as it did. My wedding was in June 2019 and we booked Carrie early 2018. After seeing her on a wedding special on tv and chatting with her on the phone I felt what I thought was a connection. I won't lie she talked a good game and the reviews I read were positive but unfortunately I didn't get that experience. I should've known early on when it was too difficult to get in touch with her that there would be an issue. I was super excited about "doing the work" as one of her assistants stressed but doing the work shouldn't have been me asking how long it would take for my personal page of the planning pod site to be ready did it? Doing the work shouldn't have been vendors calling me the week of my wedding asking for the itinerary for the wedding should it? Doing the work shouldn't have been me going to meet vendors, negotiating deals, and creating timelines for my wedding by myself should it? Several phone calls and emails went unanswered for months and when they were returned it was always "I was getting ready to respond or Sorry for the delay" True enough I didn't select a full service planner, but with the partial planning I figured we would've at least received what was listed as a service. Aside from the website and throwing out a few suggestions for vendors (which we didn't use) I received Day of services. And even thats up for discussion because I honestly feel like she left my wedding. I saw her at the beginning and at the end of the night when she was ready to go. I had more interaction with her "assistant" than I did with her. I don't know if that tv special gave her too many clients or if she prefers to work in other states (one excuse for her not answering calls/emails was because she was doing another wedding in another state), or if partial planning (whatever that means) isn't her specialty but I feel I wasn't properly compensated. I didn't even want to pay the remaining balance but my husband said we had to because we signed a contract. Had it not been for him she WOULD NOT have gotten paid. I WILL NOT be recommending her services to anyone but I do wish her well.
I thought long about writing this review but I feel others need to be informed. I booked Carrie in July of 2018 and my wedding was scheduled for May 2019. After speaking to Carrie on the phone I felt an immediate connection to her and she was very helpful with different ideas for venue locations. This was all even before hiring her. After shopping around I decided Carrie was a great choice from her reviews and like I said, instant connection when speaking. I hired Carrie for Month/Day of coordination and I was so excited. After making my deposit I didn't hear from her. She never reached out to check in, never provided a checklist or any sort of assistance I can follow along on my own leading up to the wedding. She did tell me about the planning pod website she has for her clients but when I logged on there was nothing for me to do on it. I thought.. ok well I'm only hiring her for month of so maybe that's when she really starts to help? Well by December, I thought I should check in to see if I'm on track and to figure out this planning pod website. I emailed and called and didn't hear back. Giving her the benefit of the doubt that it was around the holidays and she may have other weddings she's working with, I let it go. After the new year I reached out again asking for a phone meeting which we had. During the meeting we went over a loose timeline I had already figured out with my photographer and she also talked me through the planning pod website which suddenly had things for me to do. I asked her if I was using it wrong and she said no she hadn't set it up yet. So little frustrating because this is stuff I could have been working on when I had free time. As we started getting closer to the wedding and I still hadn't heard from her. I met with my florist multiple times and during that time they asked me about my planner and how things were going and when I said we were 2 months out and I still hadn't heard from Carrie she said I should start calling. I called and emailed and no response. I got to one month out when Carrie's contract started and I did not hear from her until I emailed first. She replied with "She was in the process of emailing me." I think at one month out we should have had a meeting scheduled. We didn't. She said she would be in touch and she wasn't. After multiple calls and emails from me I FINALLY got in touch with Carrie. I was 3 weeks out from my wedding at this point and freaking out. I was extremely stressed and wondering where my planner was. Feeling very frustrated that Carrie was so hard to get in touch with and had done nothing to help me at this point I decided to go our separate ways. I was able to find a day of coordinator right after and immediately I was sent checklists, guidelines, spreadsheets, things they told me they send to their clients the day they book, which for me would have been months ago. Luckily I happen to be organized and figured stuff out on my ow but these tools could have alleviated a lot of my stress. Carrie also told me should would give me a full refund and send it immediately. 2 weeks passed and I had not received my refund. After numerous calls, emails, and mention of reporting her to the BBB she offered to VENMO me the money...so unprofessional and more stress that was added on so close to my wedding. I just want others to be aware of what your money can actually get you and what you deserve. It doesn't have to be as difficult as it was for me.
Carrie and her team were incredible on our wedding day. I didn't have to make a single decision and they kept everything running smoothly. Money VERY well spent. We were all able to relax and enjoy the party without having to do anything but have fun! I really appreciated their help with packing everything up at the end of the night, we were exhausted and so happy to have such excellent help. Initially (during the planning) there were some communication difficulties, but once I figured out that text message is Carrie's preferred method of communication that was much better.
Carrie was our day of coordinator and has attention to detail and a common sense approach that any bride would appreciate. She is part of a team that includes her parents and the three of them work together to make the day seamless for the bride and groom. Our only regret is that we didn’t use her even more - if we had to do it again we would have hired her for more hours and not taken on as much on our own. We enjoyed working with Carrie - she will do whatever it takes to make your wedding day perfect.
I waited over a month after my wedding to type this review. I wanted a clear mind. I don't like giving negative reviews to small companies but if I can save at least one bride the stress it was worth it. If you are a perfectionist, think that you will need someone that is very much so on top of things please chose a different company.
I've read other reviewers and I can agree with the negative comments. Carrie is not as responsive as she should be. Initially after hiring her she was MIA. I called and emailed for a couple weeks and nothing. I later learned she returned my calls after my good friend sent her a not so nice email.
As for my invitations she recommended a company she assured me she worked with many times before. The plan completely fell through. She said the company would send the invoice and proofs and it didn't happen. I was getting down to the wire so I went with another company I previously ordered samples from.
We had plans for weekly meetings. The same day each week. There were times she didn't call at all. Or I would get an email 30 mins before the meeting asking for a time change. Even with asking for a time change she didn't call!!!
The week of the wedding we made arrangements to drop off my decorations. She gave me the impression she was in the office and was stepped out for lunch so I tried to give her a little time. I even waited around hoping to see her in person to explain the decor. Never saw her and fast forward to the day, the things I wanted to explain were obviously wrong.
During the ceremony and processional the music i gave her was played wrong. The pastor didn't have any direction when to pause during the ceremony to allow a musical solo. These things weren't noticed by the guest.
As for the Reception she told me she would communicate to the DJ a change in one song and a certain tribute we wanted to do for our friends and family. Nope!! I told her 2 weeks if not more before the wedding. While we were on the floor for our first dance he played the wrong song. In the process of our first dance I had to go to the DJ booth to tell him the right song. And that special tribute yeah he knew nothing about that.
Lastly, Carrie made no attempts to look decent for my wedding day. Her hair was pulled into a messy ponytail, leggings, a sweater and ugg boots that saw much much better days. I was ashamed when my family and friends pointed it out to me.
The best thing I got out of carrie was an amazing Florist, Photographer and linen company she recommended. As for the rest of her services in my opinion its over priced for lack of response, missing meetings and phone calls, not paying attention to details and overall what I believe is someone needing more experience along with a real team of assistants and not her parents.
Overall our day turned out beautifully. the great thing is people didn't know what to expect so they don't know all that was wrong or went wrong to get you through that day.
Carrie and her team were fabulous and ensure that everything went smoothly the day of our daughter's wedding. I highly recommend her!
Jasmine and Carrie did an amazing job not only helping me keep on track with everything throughout the planning process, but also providing the moral support that is needed when planning a wedding. Even though our day had a few hiccups, I didn't worry once because they handled everything with grace and ease. I cannot recommend them enough, and wish Touch of Elegance nothing but continued success!
Sean and Vaughn were amazing the day of our wedding!! They handled every single detail. Carrie also came the morning of our wedding for setup and everything looked amazing. Vaughn was especially knowledgeble and helpful in making sure the day went off without a hitch. If I were to do everything over again, I wooof hire this crew without a doubt.
From my first meeting with Carrie, I knew I had the right wedding coordinator for me. She is knowledgeable, organized and professional. Although I had only hired her for day of coordinator services, it felt like she was with me through the entire planning process. She was happy to give me recommendations for many vendors. I found my amazing flourist and make up artist through her.
I can’t imagine my wedding day without Carrie and her team. She organized the reception decor and favors. She kept everyone organized and on schedule. She handled so many issues for us - like calling our hotel because we forgot to check in! She also saved our whole box of gifts and cards when it was accidentally left behind.
Carrie has a calm friendly demeanor, having her by my side on my wedding day gave me such peace of mind. I will happily recommend Touch of Elegance to anyone!!!
Carrie and Touch of Elegance was hands down the best decision we made while planning our wedding. I worked with Carrie for over a year to plan my dream wedding. Carrie has a calm and sweet personality that made the entire planning process a dream. I have a type A personality and tend to worry about everything, but Carrie eased all of my worries and helped me remain calm! I was finishing school while planning my wedding so having Carrie was a big help. She took things off of my plate and made the whole planning process easier. For example, she found me vendors and set up the meetings. I'm usually a control freak, but it was nice to let go and have Carrie take care of things!
Now let me tell you about the wedding day... It was perfect. Carrie and her team worked behind the scenes and made everything run smoothly. Carrie came to the church as I was getting ready! We had some church coordinators who were less than pleasant (i.e. rushing me and giving my bridal party attitude) and she stood by me and made sure I remained calm! I probably would have been crying if she wasn't there! Everything ran flawlessly at the reception. Carrie's thought and attention to detail is incredible. Me and my groom did not have to worry about anything at the reception except enjoying our time! Our parents also didn't have to worry about anything! I have been to many weddings where the family or bridal party is running around the entire day and doesn't have time to enjoy the day. I did not want that on my wedding day! Carrie even took all of our presents to my parents hotel room!
If you are looking for a wedding planner... you don't need to look any further. Carrie and Touch of Elegance are the best of the best. I could never thank Carrie enough for making my day perfect. I want to do it all over again!
Carrie, Diane, and Gail were the perfect choice for our wedding day! They directed a seamless setup and flow to our day. They ensured we were on time throughout the day and were on hand at all times to assist with our needs. If there were any problems throughout the day, my husband and I had no idea! I would highly recommend them to any couple looking to have a highly organized and relaxed wedding day!
We hired Carrie for day-of coordination. When we first started working with Carrie, she was great! She has always been very nice and was initially helpful and responsive when we had few questions. She even recommended a florist, who we worked quite well with.
About 6 weeks before our wedding (the worst possible time), the service we received from Touch of Elegance and Design significantly worsened. We scheduled a phone call with Carrie only to have her stand us up for the call. She later e-mailed us to reschedule, and we had a helpful conversation where we talked through the step-by-step details of what we wanted to happen. We were taking our own notes, but she told us that she would send hers to us right after the conversation, so we didn't need to. We should not have listened. She did not upload our timeline or the notes from our call even after we emailed and called her several times over 2 weeks asking for it. We eventually ended up re-doing the timeline ourselves.
After three weeks of leaving multiple messages and sending many e-mails, she finally had an intern upload our notes to the Planning Pod website once we left a voicemail threatening to take legal action. (Said intern pretended that she had done so right after the call, even though Planning Pod timestamps uploaded documents, and we could see that it was done minutes before her e-mail.)
About a week later, Carrie called us apologizing and saying that she was out of the country. By this time, we had been frustrated for about a month, with no idea what was going on, and we had done most of the work we paid Carrie to do. Since our wedding was so close, we were deciding whether to find a new person for the day-of or just pray that our remaining service would be reliable.
It was awful to be in this position, because we had already paid for her services and we did not think we could find anyone else who was supposed to be as good at the last minute.
Carrie showed up at our wedding rehearsal on time with (we found out later) her father, Gail. Gail mentioned that he and Carrie would be working together for our wedding. It was a strange dynamic because Gail was trying to run the show, but this was our first time meeting him and Carrie was pretty quiet most of the time. Nevertheless, we went through the run of show and things were fine.
On our wedding day, Gail showed up on time and was helpful in setting up for the wedding and reception. Carrie, however, never even showed up and gave us no indication that she wouldn't be there ahead of time. Gail was accompanied by a young gentleman; the young man was helping, but he was in athletic clothing--not dressed for a wedding.
Because Gail wasn't the person we had been working with, there were several things that my bridesmaids had to fix once we arrived at the venue. He stayed for the amount of time we paid for, but most of the actual coordination and help was done by the owners of our venue. This was a really disappointing and ironic experience because of all the vendors we worked with, the one whose primary responsibility was to ensure that we were not stressed made us stress the most.
We would have loved to be able to give Touch of Elegance five stars, because that would have meant that they contributed to the amazing wedding we had. However, if not for the support we got from other vendors, this could have been a disaster if we had solely trusted them with the day-of coordination.
Ayman and her team at Touch of Elegance made our dream wedding come true! She worked tireless to ensure that all the details were taken care of and that myself and my wife didn't have to worry about anything on the day of the wedding and that we could just relax and enjoy the day of the wedding. We had a massive wedding of 650 guests and Touch of Elegance masterfully made the flow of our event very smooth. I highly recommend using Touch of Elegance for your wedding coordination needs because you will not be disappointed.
Carrie was absolutely amazing! I can't say enough about her professionalism, attentiveness, amazing attitude. I could go on. She made the day go SO SMOOTHLY. She was great with the photographer and helped him get the shots he needed by getting all of the people/families together. He loved having her there as well. She was awesome!
Thank you Carrie for everything!
I worked directly with Carrie from Touch of Elegance for my day of wedding coordination. She and her team were so responsive and flexible to work with and without them, I'm honestly not sure if my wedding/reception would have gone as smoothly as it did. When unexpected delays happened, Carrie and her team were always quick to respond and make adjustments that to our guests, it seemed as though nothing had happened. My wedding day was made so stress-free thanks to Carrie and her team.
Carrie and her team helped us put together the perfect wedding, we couldn't have done it without them. They had the best vendor recommendations and coordinated everything perfectly the day of. I would recommend them to anyone, you can trust them to make your day perfect.
My husband and I got married this past May in Detroit, and within the last 2 months panicked and needed help and reassurance to bring it all together. I came across Touch of Elegance Events & Designs on The Knot and they came so highly reviewed. Let me tell you, Diane and Taylor were two of the nicest most genuine people to work with. They helped me with every last detail from setting my day-of timeline, confirming and coordinating all the vendors with my venue, to set up and tear down before and after the wedding, and so much in between. They cared for me and my husband as if we were their own family, and they did a fantastic job! They ensured the night ran smoothly, helped all details fall into place, and even made sure I ate my dinner LOL! But really, they were incredible to work with and are amazing at what they do. You can tell they both have great experience coordinating weddings. They returned all emails/calls/texts at any time of the day promptly. Also, for everything they do, very affordable. I would highly recommend! Thank you again, Diane and Taylor!
The Touch of Elegance team did a fantastic job! As I was getting ready with my bridal party and taking pictures I did not have a single doubt about what was happening at the venue. When I arrived and got a little preview of the reception hall decoration everything was just as I imagined. Carrie Gentry and her team of Diane and Gail were great to work with and made me feel very assured things were going to be great! They also recommended amazing vendors who also made the night wonderful as well. My wedding day would not have been a success without the Touch of Elegance team. As I reflect there was no major issues that I knew of because if there were the team took care of it!!
Highly recommend their services!!
Carrie, Diane and the Touch of Elegance team were incredible. They went above and beyond to ensure our wedding was so special. We requested their support for "Day-Of Coordinating", rather than full wedding planning services. They provided us a ton of support even 6 months prior to our wedding. I could bounce ideas off of them, get references on vendors and general guidance. As we got closer to the wedding date, they really jumped in and starting planning out the entire day, minute by minute.
On our big day, we did not have to worry about whether our ceremony or reception would going to run smoothly - we knew it would... and it did!
My wedding was this past weekend and Carrie, Diane, and Mr. Gail Taylor went above and beyond to make sure my day was flawless. From rehearsal to my wedding day, they ensured that I was stress/care free! I am so glad that I chose this company/team for one of the most important days of my life. I highly recommend them!
Carrie is hands down-- the best money I spent during my wedding. We could not have done anything without her and her team and I can't thank them enough for everything they did throughout our day.
One of our vendors was late for dinner service and while I was off taking pictures, Carrie was handling the entire situation like a pro and taking care of everything. She made a point of making me a priority (offering to get us our dinner, and making sure I got a slice of pizza at the end of the night)
I seriously can't stop raving about her and the team. Even my very hard to impress Father-in-law couldn't stop talking about how much she did all day and everything she handled.
Carrie-- you guys are the best and we honestly can't thank you enough!
Carrie and Touch of Elegance was absolutely a lifesaver! I am so glad I contacted them to assist me with the planning of my wedding. I received the highest level of service and for the couple of minor hiccups I did experience along the way, Carrie remained calm and never broke a sweat.
When my hired florist pulled a disappearing act less than 6 weeks away from my wedding date, Carrie came through with a vendor who exceeded my expectations on short notice and thankfully within my budget. That was worth the fee by itself.
By the time my special day arrived, I felt calm and confident that the details would be handled and I wouldn't have to worry because everything had been so thoroughly planned and any contingencies would be dealt with discreetly and professionally.
Everything came together and was broken down in a timely manner. My guests had a wonderful time and gushed at how elegant everything was and how smoothly the afternoon went. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to recommend Touch of Elegance. Thank you so much for taking the stress of the day off of me so that I could just enjoy the magic of the wedding.
Carrie is all you need. Seriously. We had the "month of" coordinating package and no joke she had an appointment set up and ready for the first day we could. Her calm demeanor is a life saver when your bouncing from idea to idea. I would not have been able to execute my many ideas without her help. Thank you so much to you, your company, and your family Carrie!
Carrie and her team were PHENOMENAL. I couldn't have imagined the day (or weeks leading up to it for that matter) without them. The venue coordinator was a bit of a disaster, but Carrie and her team were totally on top of things and stayed totally calm, cool, and really a delight. They did a couple of venue walk throughs with us, asked all the right questions, and had great responses throughout the planning process (both timely and valuable). She served as a great resource for finding other fantastic vendors including my phenomenal makeup and hair artist. She was also super flexible around our schedule. My (now) husband and I had such confidence in her that it alleviated a lot of our stress especially the week of the wedding and definitely the day of our wedding. They truly went above and beyond. One of her teammates helped to settle my husband's nerves before our first look. Another teammate made sure my bridesmaid's dress was a static cling disaster before walking down the aisle. Carrie herself played with the ring bearers and flower girl to keep them occupied before they walked down the aisle. All of this happened without any direction from me or my husband. They just went to work managing everything in the most wonderful way. My husband and I truly had the BEST day and Carrie and her team were a large part of making that happen. THANK YOU!!!
Jasmine and Carrie are true masters of their craft. While I wanted to do all of the planning- they allowed the freedom of choosing a "day of" package that truly let me relax and enjoy getting married. I could not have survived the day without them! We had one crisis- and they easily averted it, making sure we stayed calm and so so so happy. I can't thank them enough for giving me the opportunity to experience our marriage without worry!
I can’t say enough good things about Carrie and her team. I wasn’t sure i really needed a planner because I was pretty organized but I had enough in our budget for it and she was worth every single penny. Every question I had, every problem we encountered, Carrie handled it. I would recommend her to anyone who has money for a planner or day of coordinator. Hands down, my Wedding wouldn’t have been the same without her. Her and her team took so much stress off of my husband and I!!
Hiring Touch of Elegance for our day-of-wedding coordination was one of the best decisions we made during the planning process. Carrie offered so many creative ideas that I did not think of, and helped me save a lot of money. Our day of coordinator ended up being Jasmine, and she was amazing! She coordinated the day-of setup flawlessly with a multitude of vendors, and her organizational skills blew us away. At no point during our wedding day did we have to worry about any details - we knew Jasmine had it covered. We even ran out of glasses during the reception and Jasmine handled it without us knowing. I heard from multiple guests about how impressed they were with her. I cannot thank Jasmine and Carrie enough for their help making our big day stress free! Worth every penny!
We hired touch of elegance for their "Day of Coordination" (month of) and it was one of the best decisions we made. A day of coordinator/planner is a must. They worked very well with us. We began working with them about 3-4weeks prior. Had an onsite visit and they made sure they understood exactly how we wanted to day to go. As for the actual day/rehearsal they were prompt, organized and very helpful. They set up anything we requested, helped transport flowers to the church, etc. They also provided 2 additional staff members to help the day of, which was great. At the conclusion of the night they took everything I had previously specified back to our hotel room (they payed special attention to a few more expensive/meaningful items we had at the venue). Our day was free of any problems and touch of elegance services is to thank. Like previously mentioned, a day of coordinator is essential. Worth every penny! (I inquired with multiple day of services, touch of elegance prices are competitive).
We are really grateful to Touch of elegance and Nivedha for coordinating our big day. Nivedha was very personable and easy to work with. She and her assistant took care of our day ensuring that nothing came in the way of us enjoying our big day. They coordinated well with the vendors and made sure everything was at the right place at the right time. We are really glad we hired them.
Carrie and her team are exceptional. We hired thenr for day-of wedding coordination and I couldn't have been happier with the choice. Carrie met with me in person twice in the months leading up to the wedding. She was also very responsive over email. Carrie attended my final dress fitting to ensure she knew how to bustle my dress and came to my rehearsal so she knew exactly how to decorate the venue" the day of. She and her team are always calm and always pay attention to the details. They brought my vision to life and allowed me to relax and have fun on my wedding day. I definitely recommend hiring Carrie and her team!
Carrie and her team were such a great help for our big day!!!!
Carrie and her team were great😊. They went above and beyond to make sure our wedding was all we wanted it to be. They intervened in family conflicts, smoothed over issues with vendors and came up with solutions before I even knew there were problems. Carrie was willing to talk to me even at the middle of the night. There were times up to two weeks before our wedding I was concerned about her follow up being delayed at times. But when I talked to her about it she was really understanding, profession and improved how quick she got back to me. I'd recommend her as a wedding coordinator for sure!
I worked with Carrie and her mother for from start to finish with my wedding. They were both excellent! They helped me with pretty much every aspect of the wedding planning ( finding venders, negotiating prices, taste testing.) Carrie even let me borrow some of her fathers books for centerpieces with no charge. They also had a gentleman helping my husband and his grooms men get ready. They were an amazing team the 3 of them. The day of the wedding all three of them were absolute life savers. They went above and beyond to insure our wedding went as best as possible. I am so grateful to have had them though our wedding journey. The only negative thing i can say is its a little hard to get ahold of Carrie and sometimes I had to send more then one message to get a response which was a little stressful but she made sure everything was taken care of before the wedding. Other then that i have nothing but good things to say about her and their company. We will defiantly recommend her to anyone!
We hired Touch of Elegance as day-of coordinators for our wedding this past weekend, and they were absolutely exceptional from start to finish. Carrie, the owner, is gracious and responsive, and quickly connected me with my wonderful coordinator Ayman (who is an absolute star and put up with my indecision, wildly busy schedule, and last-minute changes). In addition to confirming details with my vendors and creating a detailed timeline for the wedding day, Ayman and her assistant beautifully organized our rehearsal and ensured that everything ran smoothly from start to finish on the day of the wedding. Everything went off perfectly, and it was so wonderful not having to worry about the details (big and small!) and having someone to act as a point of contact for vendors, direct guest traffic, manage issues as they arose and keep all of us on schedule. We couldn't be happier, nor could we recommend Touch of Elegance more highly.
Touch of Elegance was amazing! I cannot speak highly enough of them. We had Jacquelyn as our planner and she was awesome. Anything I had questions on or was worried about she looked into for me! She made the day such a smooth one and was able to keep our wedding party and family under control. She went above and beyond what we paid for. She came in early and stayed much later than was originally discussed just to make sure everything went well. Touch of Elegance was affordable and well worth every penny!
Me and my husband decided not to have a traditional wedding party. We soon realized we would need someone to help with those little details on the actual day. Carrie and her team at Touch of Elegance proved to be a wonderful asset throughout the entire process and made sure our day went off without a hitch! On the day of, I found out from the reception hall that my tea candles needed holders. Of course I didn't have holders and at that point was going to get rid of them. But Carrie ran out and got some little candles holders for me! I know it may not seem like a big deal, but to me, the little things matter. I really appreciated her attention and consistency. I'm sure other things went wrong that day but I had no clue. My day was pretty much stress free and lived up all of my dreams and expectations!! I wish I could do it all over again. I'd definitely recommend Touch of Elegance to anyone looking for a coordinator.
The team at Touch of Elegance was great to work with during the months leading to my wedding and the day of. At first I was skeptical about having a wedding coordinator at my wedding but it was worth the costs (reasonable pricing too)! Carrie and Gail will put your mind at ease during the wedding process. They go through every detail with you. The interns are really professional too and definitely know what they are doing. They even helped me put together a few last minute things for the wedding and I enjoyed their help during my wedding rehearsal. This team is able to adapt to any situation and communicates really well. This team was able to run my wedding and I was able to enjoy my day and not stress about anything. It was a perfect day with Touch of Elegance's help!
Carrie and her team were amazing! I did not have one single worry on my wedding day. I would hire them all over again! Thanks for everything!
I used the day of coordination services from ToE and besides marrying the love of my life it was the best decision of the day! There were numerous snafus with the reception vendor and Jasmine and Ayman handled things fantastically. If I had to re-do the day I would hire Touch of Elegance again. Worth every dime.
I don't know what I would've done with out Jacqueline and team. Their service was worth every single penny and I would've paid twice as much if I knew how much value they were bringing to the table. Everyone should hire a day of coordinator.
The thing about weddings is that for most people its their first and they have no idea how much goes into the day. To have someone schedule everything from the ceremony to the bouquet throw down to the hour, watch the clock to make sure things are on time, and manage all of the vendors and their countless questions during the day is priceless. On top of that they help suggest vendors and coordinate their arrival and setup/breakdown. I can't imagine how hard it would've been without them.
Carrie and her staff were amazing and we could not have done it without them!!!!
We hired Touch of Elegance Events for Day of Coordination for peace of mind to make sure the day went smoothly. It was completely worth the investment! Carrie and her team were on top of everything. They contacted all our vendors ahead of time to make sure everything was set, they ran our rehearsal (which otherwise would have been up to us to get organized), and they kept the big day in order. This included setting up all the things we brought and keeping us on schedule. They were extremely professional and absolutely took some stress out of the day.
