This review is hard for me because everything with our wedding venue turned out great. It was beautiful, everyone had a great time, and the hotel amenities were part of that. However... the catering manager Alex was very difficult to deal with. She was bad at communication, things fell through the cracks and got confusing, and she was not responsive enough. Wedding planning for me coincided with a stressful time at work and I was pulling my hair out trying to nail things down. We ended up bringing in a friend who had worked in the wedding industry before and he became our coordinator so we didn't have to deal with Alex. One quick example: this was a destination wedding and my husband and I arrived on Thursday for our Saturday wedding to stay at the hotel Thursday-Monday. We landed at the airport and I called the hotel to see if we could get an early check in. They didn't have us checking in until Friday. That's a conversation you don't want to have when you arrive for your wedding. They fixed it but it never should have happened in the first place. We feel we may have been overcharged for some things but we didn't keep clear enough records of everything because, when you're signing for things on the morning of your wedding, your head isn't necessarily on straight. Overall, the venue was perfect, but I can't recommend that anyone use them because of all the logistical issues we had to deal with.
We loved Town and Country! Central location, great pricing options, everyone said the food was GREAT, location is BEAUTIFUL, many options for different locations on the hotel property (including ball rooms, outside grassy areas, inside/outside area, and ceremony options), cake was included (DELICIOUS and CUSTOM made from our description and pictures), they provided everything from the linens to the table settings to the food and champagne. Lauren Peterson was the event coordinator and she was AWESOME! She made everything so easy and helped us every step of the way. Organized, prompt, knowledgeable, prepared, friendly, well spoken, and extremely professional. Town and Country better be paying her a ton because she could easily make a comfortable living as a freelance coordinator.
I'm really excited to be the first bride to write a review for Town and Country. I decided on Town and Country (T and C) for my July 2010 wedding because I found out about 5 months before my wedding that the other venue that we had chosen (Balboa Park) was going to be hosting a parade on the same day. T and C is right in the middle of Mission Valley, which is a nice central location in San Diego. We used their wedding garden which was really pretty. It had a beautiful white gazebo surrounded by flowers. T and C allowed us to bring in our DJ for music and let us do the ceremony the way we wanted. Since the garden is next to a major walk way in the resort, they put up white lattice that was about 10 ft. tall to make it more private, they also set up chairs, a water station, gift table and a parking validation table. There was the option to have bows and stuff put up, but we chose not to use it since it's not 1984. The one downside is that it did not have a room included in the price for the girls to get ready, we had to buy that ourselves. The price in total for the garden, the set up/break down and parking for everyone was $700. That did not include the price of the suite we payed for, that was $300. This was a great option for me because I wanted to convenience of using a hotel, but didn't want the typical hotel "look". Also, the resort had lots of places to take pictures on the grounds. If you like gazebos, then this is the place you want, they had tons of them.
