Kayla was an absolute star in the lead up to our wedding. We did an almost entirely DIY wedding, which a lot of coordinators aren't equipped for. Kayla took everything we threw at her in stride without breaking a sweat, from limited set up time...s to completely homemade decor. We met with her about 8 months before our wedding to go over some of our expectations and needs. Since Kayla specializes in DIY weddings, she took a step back and let us handle the planning up until about 6 weeks out, where she jumped in with both feet to wrangle everything together. At our first month-of meeting, she went over and brought up so many small but VERY important details that we hadn't even thought of and worked with us to build a timeline that worked for us and our venue. Kayla also took over contacting vendors and coordinating arrival times. Since our wedding was DIY and we only had about an hour to get everything set up, we enlisted the help of family and friends to get most of the decor set up. She was able to direct and delegate tasks to different people, so that all we had to do was arrive at the venue and be merry. Throughout the reception, she worked behind the scenes to make sure things were running smoothly, acting as the go between for all the other vendors, ensuring that things we running on time, and making sure that we ate (a BIG thing on the day, really!). She also suggested we provide her with any tips for the vendors so that she could give them out and we would not need to worry about it. At the end of the night, Kayla gathered all of our gifts and cards, decor, leftover cake, etc, etc and put them together for us to collect the next day. Some things went into cars before we left so we didn't need to worry about them. That was one of the best things she did, because we were both absolutely exhausted by the end of the night. It was very nice to be able to focus on the day without needing to be worried about if things were running smoothly. From the moment she arrived on the day of, she took over and ensured everything that needed to happen, happened. We really really enjoyed working with Kayla. She was extremely professional and a calming presence even throughout an anxious set up. If you are having a DIY wedding, you NEED to hire Kayla as your day-of coordinator. You and your family may be the ones handling the DIY, but you should not be doing-it-yourself when it comes to coordinating on the day of. Let the professional handle it and focus on the love of your spouse.
