Turtle's 1890 Social Centre

We had a great experience working with Turtle’s to host our wedding reception there. We loved that the meal, drinks, and pretty much everything you need are done in house, which simplified the planning immensely! The pricing was very transparent and fair. Way cheaper than anything else we found. We got so many compliments on the space and the food. I would absolutely recommend Turtle’s to anyone planning their wedding!

Turtles is a venue that you can make what you want of it. You can easily have a more casual place, or you can dress the place up and make it look extravagant! Bryan was so awesome and really helped us make this our own wedding and basically never said no to a crazy idea. During our cocktail hour we had tarot readers and a reptile booth for people to take pictures with a full grown Boa Constrictor (britteny spears style). Basically as long as we weren't breaking any healthcodes or causing damage, he was down for my weirdness! The amount of people that complimented the food was astounding. I had people tell me they could barely eat dessert because they couldn't stop going back to the buffet, and that is not a knock at our dessert vendor at all! These guys also know their beers and were able to help us curate a magnificent beer selection. I cannot recommend Turtles enough. Price is more than reasonable, the customer service and staff if top notch, the food and drink was perfect, and with the right vision you can transform that room into something special. I really hope that a family or friend is inspired to have their wedding there in the future because I would love to go back and enjoy the place as a guest!

Bryan was super organized and to the point in planning! He worked so well with us on creating an event that would make all of our friends and family happy. When we finally go to the day, Bryan and his staff made everything go off without a hitch. Every person I spoke to that night raved about the food, enjoyed the hospitality of the servers, and were just overall impressed with the professionalism of Turtle’s. If I could do it all over again I would pick Turtle’s again in a heart beat. It’s affordable, professional, and they just downright throw one heck of an event!

We booked Turtle's for both our rehearsal dinner and reception for our wedding in September and are so happy we did! Not only was the food incredible and service great, but Bryan's experience and excellent communication made the entire process feel so manageable from the start. He was also very accommodating and went above and beyond to make it a great day for us. If you want tasty food, amazing craft beer options, and a personable experience, look no further!

We had our reception here on 9/5/2020 and our experience with Bryan, Barb, and the rest of the Turtle's staff was absolutely unmatched! From the beginning and through the whole planning process, Bryan was right there to help and was always completely honest with us. Getting married in a pandemic was not ideal, but they really made sure that they were not going to stop short of making our day absolutely perfect for us. Their excitement for our big day really added that personal touch that we didn't know we needed! The venue is beautiful, the food was incredible, and all of our guests were so impressed! Thank you so much, Bryan and the team!

What an awesome venue! It is really unique and the staff is wonderful! Bryan and Barb were fantastic and handled everything for me. The food is amazing, the chef takes a lot of pride in providing nothing but the best. They include so much with just the small room fee, and help make your day uniquely yours. I would recommend Turtles to anyone looking for a fun venue that doesn't want to break the bank!

So happy we got Turtles as our wedding venue! We were looking forward to that meal and craft beer the most! Food is very high quality and you get to choose craft beer you want served at your reception. Everything was well organized and efficient and on time. I love this venue. Brian who is the main contact at the venue is so easy to work with and responds to emails quickly. His professionalism and knowledge is really calming. The cost of the food was very reasonable and very delicious. We had the pasta bar and had so many people compliment us on the taste of the food. The venue itself is beautiful. We had to do very little decorating to the room. We even had a few guest mention that they may do their vow renewal at Turtles. I really can’t think of a single negative thing to say about this venue.

Turtle’s was the hero we didn’t know we needed and definitely didn’t deserve. Bryan (owner) & Barb (day-of coordinator) accounted for every single thing we wanted and were completely devoted to us during the planning process and making sure everyone had an enjoyable time on our wedding day. The space needed very little decoration and isn’t your standard ballroom. Our guests were blown away with the ambiance and the food especially. All night I was getting compliments and questions of how we had found this little gem that was doing things up big!

I had my wedding reception at Turtle's in August, and I honestly cannot say enough good things about this venue and the staff that work there! Bryan and Barb were incredibly organized, timely, and easy to work with. They were straightforward and I knew exactly what to expect when my wedding day arrived. I truly enjoyed working with them both! The venue itself is beautiful! It has a lot of charm and character, and I got a lot of comments from my wedding guests on how beautiful and unique the venue was. Finally, the food was AMAZING! We had the herb-roasted chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans, and I got so many compliments on the food from my guests! I would recommend Turtle's to anyone looking to get married in the Shakopee area! Wedding planning was much less stressful with Bryan, Barb, and the staff at Turtle's on my team!

Oh Turtles, that I could write a sonnet about how amazing a vendor you were. Turtle's is the absolute best place to hold a reception in the twin cities provided you care about the following things Affordable: Bryan walked us through pricing multiple times and did everything he could to help us bring costs down where possible. There were no hidden fees, no over the top minimums and no run around to get us to spend more. Quality: OH MY GOSH THE FOOD WAS AMAZING. And they boxed up my leftovers so that I would have something to eat when I went home after dancing for hours and some extra cake. I almost cried. We could have our pick of beer and there was plenty of wine to choose from. They let us bring in our own cake and the cook was really fun to work with. Beauty: We did a lot of decorating and turned Turtle's into a pine forest winter wonderland but this place needs absolutely no decoration. The dark woods, beautiful ceiling and classic bar do it all. Integrity and service: I have worked in restaurants for the last ten years. I know a good manager/owner when I meet one and from the first time I talked to Bryan I knew this guy was the real deal. He clearly cares about the place. He treats his employees well and is a good communicator. He responded to my emails and was honest with me about what was going to work and what wasn't. I would say; if you are a high maintenance couple that wants tons of bells and whistles, or the venue to do everything for you, or something incredibly fancy maybe Turtle's isn't the best spot for you. That's okay. Do you. If you want good, down to earth people, absolutely amazing food and a stellar space at the most affordable price in the Twin Cities than you have found the perfect space in Turtle's 1890 Social Centre.

My husband and I could not have asked for a better place for our wedding reception than Turtle’s 1890. It is such a unique space and prices are unbeatable. Unlike most venues, Turtle’s 1890 does not charge you for every little detail like cake cutting or coordination work. The food was amazing—we got nothing but compliments all night. Bryan Turtle was straight forward and quick to respond from our first meeting on. As the wedding approached he had many good suggestions regarding food, beverages, decorations, DJ, and other tips to make the night run smoothly. We planned our wedding mostly from out of state, but he made that very easy by responding quickly, checking in on us, and drawing out the venue for us so we could make decoration plans. The night of our reception, the coordinator Barb put last minute details into place for us, kept our DJ in the loop, and made sure we stayed on our timeline. I don’t know what we would have done without her help during the cocktail hour and reception! The other staff was very respectful as well, despite us getting in their way while taking pictures inside due to the weather. Both Bryan and Barb put our minds at ease and left us with no worries regarding the reception. The venue and staff are superb; we highly recommend Turtle’s 1890 for weddings and other parties!

My wife and I couldn't have been happier with our experience at Turtle's 1890 Social Centre. Bryan Turtle is super easy and fun to work with as are the rest of the staff. On top of that, the room has such a great classic look to it with the original bar and brick wall opposite it. Besides all of that, you are going to have a hard time beating the pricing. Bryan will tell you that he's not out to take advantage of you on your wedding; he's just looking to sell food and beverages, with a small fee for renting the room. If you are looking for great local craft beer, he gets you excellent pricing and he has an already great menu selection that can be totally customizable upon request. We wanted to have pulled pork and he got us some of the best pulled pork I've ever had for a great price. I would highly recommend this venue!

Turtle's was where my husband and I chose to have our reception, and we are so glad that we did. They communicated with us well, were efficient, and were so caring. We loved the food and the wedding evening went SO smoothly! I didn't have to worry about anything at all. They also accommodated my set-up people and made the entire experience so enjoyable and easy. We were extremely blessed to find a place like Turtle's. (Not to mention it is the most ELEGANT place and is just beautiful).

We couldn't be happier with our experience at Turtle's for our 10/20/17 wedding! Bryan and his team were exceedingly flexible and accommodating when it came to planning our menu and the details of our dinner. We had a cocktail hour with passed appetizers, and a buffet-style dinner. The food was outstanding, and I have received multiple compliments. At the tasting, we got to meet the chef, Ron, and discuss options for customizing or changing things, which was fun for us as we love food and cared about our guests enjoying a nice meal. One huge detail that we loved was that Bryan loves beer! He was excited to discuss the options with us and make recommendations-- we love local beer and got to pick exactly what we wanted to host on tap for our guests. The space is so unique and elegant yet comfortable. We didn't feel like we needed to go overboard on decorations, and Bryan let us use candle holders and vases that they had on-site. The first time you meet Bryan, it will be clear that he coordinates a lot of weddings and knows how things can go smoothly. I'm very organized and never felt like I was bothering him by asking about details or emailing him questions. He was always very kind and communicated promptly and clearly, right up through the evening of our wedding. Again, the entire staff was very easy to work with, and our wedding was a blast! We felt like we (and our guests) could simply show up and enjoy.

I would highly recommend Turtle's 1890 Social Centre. Just had my wedding on Saturday and it was absolutely amazing!From the beginning stages of planning through the day of, Bryan was available to answer questions, show the future in laws the venue, and talk with other vendors (photo booth and DJ). The day of the reception, Barb took the reins and it was seamless. 200+ guests of family and friends raved about the food and service of the staff. The space itself is beautiful, making decorating easy since it needs very little. I would definety think about booking this venue for other events because it was perfect for my wedding!

We had a wonderful experience working with Bryan Turtle and his staff. He was very easy to communicate with, responding quickly and answering all our questions clearly! The space is gorgeous. We looked around the Twin Cities for a venue with character (exposed-brick, high ceilings, soft lighting, nice bar) and you can't beat the price at Turtle's!! Food was delicious, service was wonderful, and Bryan is so organized! We highly recommend!

I highly recommend this place! First of all, you can't beat the price. That's what first captured our attention. Then everything after that just continued to get better and better. We had to plan most of our wedding from out of state and Bryan was always quick to respond to emails and extremely accommodating to us when we would fly back to MN to make sure he was able to fit us in for meetings and the taste testing. The venue itself is so beautiful with the brick wall, black detailed ceilings, and the awesome bar; we barely had to decorate the place. We had Barb there to coordinate for our reception and she was SO sweet and made sure everything ran smoothly and on time. Also the food was yummy and the pizza bar towards the end of the night was a huge hit! Everything about Turtle's made our day PERFECT. It went above and beyond all expectations. From start to finish, they (Bryan & Barb) paid attention to every detail and allowed for my husband and I to thoroughly enjoy our special day. The space itself is a conversation piece. We loved the eclectic vibe. Our guests couldn't stop talking about how they appreciated and enjoyed the atmosphere. Beyond that, the food was absolutely incredible! You can't go wrong with anything you choose. It makes the process so simple having venue and food in the same location. We would utilize this venue again for future events as well as recommend it to everyone! You beyond get what you pay for.

Bryan, Barb and the staff at Turtle's are amazing. The day of our wedding held a chance of rain and they were checking the weather and communicating with us. They were helpful throughout the day, making sure we had everything we needed. Not only is the service amazing, the food is out of this world. This isn't your regular wedding chicken! Turtle's was the perfect venue for our wedding and people continue to tell us how much they loved it!

Turtle's had everything we were looking for in our reception site. AND it was affordable! They don't up charge you at all. Bryan was SO easy to work with, he answered all my silly questions very quickly. I was never waiting around for an answer about anything. When our guest shuttle buses were running VERY late and messing up our timeline, Bryan and staff pushed dinner back (an hour!) without complaint, and it was still delicious. We had been looking forward to our wedding meal for weeks before our reception and it did NOT disappoint. When we struggled with finding a DJ, he was quick with an AWESOME suggestion, who we hired and loved. If you're on the fence about picking turtles or not, do not hesitate. Bryan and staff were so easy and fun to work with, it made the wedding process more enjoyable!

Bryan & Barb did an amazing job. Bryan was always available through e-mail and would get back to me with any of my questions within 1-2 days. The day of the reception Barb did a fantastic job making sure everything was running smoothly and helped me make decisions based on time and number of guests attending. They definitely made the day less stressful. The venue itself is beautiful and it worked wonderfully with my decor. I would definitely recommend Turtle's for a reception venue. All of my guests loved the food and are still talking about it as well. We did have one guest that was gluten free and they had no problem accommodating that person. Overall a beautiful venue within a reasonable price range with amazing food!

I couldn't have asked for a better place to hold our reception. Bryan, the owner, was phenomenal; he worked with me, an out-of-town bride, on all the details via email/phone or with my mother, who was in town. He accommodated my travel schedule so I could do a food tasting, and he went above and beyond to ensure that we could install a wall of lights behind the head table. The room itself is gorgeous - a large brick wall, vintage tin ceilings, and a long mahogany bar gave my reception the ambiance I was looking for. The head of maintenance assisted my parents in hanging the wall of lights and even made some suggestions and alterations to ensure it stayed in place. I could write a page about the food itself, but I'll leave it at AMAZING. And Barb, the person who coordinated the reception the day of, was extremely capable, organized, and thoughtful. No detail was overlooked, and all of the thanks for the perfect reception go to her, the cooks, the serving team, and Bryan. The prices were also very reasonable; I cannot recommend the venue and its value highly enough.

Turtles is one of a kind. We had our wedding reception there 9/2016 and it was awesome - we were pleased and honored to Turtles and staff a part of our special day. We rec'd many kind words and compliments from family and friends on the professionalism and responsiveness of the staff and the food was delicious. Bryan was great from day 1. He is easy to work with and breaks down the reception planning in an experienced and organized way.

I cannot say enough good things about this venue! Bryan made the whole process super easy. He definitely knows what he is doing and so does his entire staff. The food was also hands down the best food I've had at a wedding or other large event and as you can see from the info above, a bargain! This venue has everything going for it from looks to food to staff. If you want to make your day easier, I highly suggest booking Turtle's!

I recently was married on Friday the 28th of October. We had a appetizer buffet which was affordable for our 195+guests. Many guests raved that the food was not only delicious, but there was plenty of it. The venue is in a great location for friends and family to easily commute to. The room rental price included many things for such a great price and there were never any hidden fees. Bryan made the whole processes easy and painless! I would highly recommend this venue to any future brides.

Turtle's was amazing! The food was fantastic and the service was spectacular! Our guests had a great time and that's all I could ask for!

While there wasn't a lot of glitz and glamor (not what we were looking for), the space is spacious, accommodating, and inviting. It had a revived 20's feel with an all wood wall sized bar, stamped ceiling, with brick and timber. While at the wedding, all of our needs were met by their staff without us needing to ask for anything. Their pricing is hard to beat. They cut our cake at no charge and they provided coffee at no charge. We did have to provide bistro tables and clothes because they didn't have any. This wasn't a big deal as we were notified well in advance. If we ever had an event of substantial size, we would go to Turtle's in a heart beat.

We could not have asked for a better place to hold our wedding reception. Bryan makes the whole experience so easy. He is familiar with other wedding venders in the area and helped us find our ceremony space at Huber Park. Other venues up charge for every little thing, but Bryan includes everything you need in the room rental fee. Bryan is also a huge craft beer fan and we had a great time choosing our beer selection with him. The space is beautiful, the food was phenomenal and the entire staff was very impressive. We are so happy we chose to have our reception at Turtle's.

I had an amazing experience working with Brian at Turtle's! He was so clear when initially giving my then fiancé and I information and was very available to answer any questions I had as the planning went along. The food was fabulous, being a vegetarian I wanted some options that were not on a typical wedding menu and the chef was open to making whatever I recommended. Brian totally respected my budget and worked with us to make our wedding wonderful and still within our means. The venue itself is gorgeous with the wood and brick, you can truly decorate it as much or as little as you want. My now husband and I were happy with our experience!

Turtle's 1890 Social Centre was a perfect fit for our daughter and son in-law's wedding reception 6/11/16! It had everything they were looking for and then some... This venue did not disappoint! Bryan was wonderful to work with from day one and his entire staff was so helpful and caring, which made everything enjoyable. The venue was spotless, unique, and affordable; the food was fantastic...only compliments from our guests; and Bryan and his staff are top notch (helpful and kind)! Our daughter found this venue on theknot.com and we are so thankful she did! Please do not over look this venue when searching for a wonderful place to host your wedding reception or special gathering!

Absolutely amazing venue! Can't say enough good things about Bryan and his co-worker Barb who helped us out on the night of. Throughout the planning process Bryan was very helpful and responsive to any and all questions we had and on the night of Barb was incredible at making sure things ran smoothly. The pricing of everything at the venue was also wonderful, it made it possible for us to have a great night with 200 of our closest family and friends at a price that didn't make us cringe too much.

The best experience we have ever had! We got married 5/28/16 & it was the most perfect day! Bryan is the most easy going owner of such a great restaurant! He has a very attentive staff that would do whatever they could to make sure we had the best night possible. One thing that we really liked was that they don't overcharge you for anything & are very reasonably priced for being in the metro! Kudo's to Barb for making it such an awesome experience for us also, she is the best!!! It's a must see!!!!

If you are getting married and looking for a wedding reception venue, make sure to check this place out! I loved the vibe of the brick, vintage feel. Bryan Turtle was amazing to work with, he is extremely chill and flexible when it comes to making last minute plans! We chose an appetizer menu for food and it was absolutely delicious! Guests raved about the food, and definitely went for seconds. We were able to have our own sweet and salty bar as well. Not to mention, you definitely cannot complain about the prices. The sound and lights for the dance floor were great as well and we had fun dancing away the night! If I had any complaints, I wasn't impressed with our bartender for the night. She wasn't very friendly and she didn't smile much. Everyone else was amazing!!!

The Turtle's team nailed it! The venue was beautiful, the food amazing, and the team was flawless. From our first meeting with Bryan we could tell this man knows what he is talking about. It is not his first rodeo for sure! We used exactly what he predicted in that first meeting. We did a tasting, everything was delicious. We chose exactly what he said we would (stuffed chicken and roast beef). They don't nickel and dime you to death. He gives a fair price for top tier service and food. He was there in the morning when we arrived, made sure we were all set, and was there throughout dinner ensuring things were great. This is not an absentee owner who doesn't care. He takes his responsibility seriously and takes better care of the event than your own mother would. Bryan tells you that he and his team will do everything they can to make it all perfect and they deliver a thousand times over. We heard nothing but compliments from our guests on the food. We got rave reviews on the prime rib (we didn't have prime rib - the roast beef was so tender people thought it was!). Chefs Ron and Danny were awesome. Special dietary needs are no issue at all. Bryan's right hand gal Barb is a treasure. She keeps things flowing smoothly and consults on anything relevant as needed. She is amazingly talented at making everything run smoothly. She was a calming presence and I trusted her with all the important details. When we ordered pizzas late at night she told me to do 8. Looking around the room I didn't think that would be near enough, but decided she does this more than me. 😊. She created the mix and it was perfect. It all went and we didn't have leftovers or anyone wanting more. Our bartenders (Suz and Kortney) were kept busy by our friends and family and they were phenomenal. Efficient, friendly and fun too! If you go anywhere else you are over paying and will not come close to the quality we received. There is no reason to look further. This is THE south metro wedding venue! Thanks to all at Turtles for the best day we could have ever had. You rocked the weather too!! 😉

Bryan and his team at Turtle's did am amazing job in helping us make our day a memorable, stress free one. We had so many comments on how wonderful the food and venue were. For the budget minded couple this is a diamond in the rough. I would recommend this place to anyone! Absolutely fantastic.

My wife and I got married at Turtles in October of 2015 and we were extremely impressed and would highly recommend this as a site for your wedding. The Turtles Staff is incredible, taking every step to ensure your wishes for the day are executed on in a timely and organized fashion. They do a great job working with you to understand what you expect for the day (no matter how unique your ideas may be), and their experience shows in the smoothness with which the day goes. The food was excellent and numerous guests at our wedding commented on the quality, portion sizes, and the temperature of the meals as being top notch. The venue itself is beautiful for a reception and ceremony and from a value standpoint I have never worked with a team of people who are so focused on meeting your budgetary and timeline expectations for the day. Everything about Turtle's 1890 Social Centre is AMAZING! Bryan was fantastic to work with and was very dedicated to making sure everything was perfect for us. He was always on top of everything from the planning the the day of details. Chef Ron has outdone himself! This was the best wedding food I've ever had and I've heard nothing but outstanding comments from our guests about the food as well. We had the two-meat buffet (Roast Beef and Stuffed Chicken Breast) and everything was great! The unique character about this venue makes decorating so easy because you don't have to overdo it because it has it's own ambiance about the place. The room fee here covers so many things that other venues charge extra for so that saves you money. I can't say enough positive things about Turtle's. If you haven't checked it out yet, you really should!

I can not say enough good things about Bryan and everyone else at Turtles. He was so easy to work with, accommodating when it came to pretty much anything we wanted and got back to us right away through either email or phone. He truly made everything stress free. We had a Friday reception with about 80??? people (still haven't counted everyone from the guest book) and opted to do appetizers and drinks. I was a nervous bride so unfortunately didn't get to try any of the food but I had people stopping me all night telling me how amazing it was. Some of the best food they have had at a reception. Everyone especially loved the chicken satay,steak bites and spinach and artichoke dip :) Not only is the space beautiful (very minimal decorating needs to be done) but it is so inexpensive. Very important for someone like me who was on a strict budget. By far the greatest price out there by a long shot and again I had people telling me all night how much they loved the venue and how beautiful it looked. Also the staff were very friendly. The bartender was so pleasant and had a smile on her face the whole night. That is so important because as important as the day is to me I wanted my guests to have a great experience as well. There wasn't anything I threw at Bryan that he wasn't able to make work and I appreciate that so much! Like I said I have nothing negative to say about Turtle's 1890 Social Centre. I could not have been happier with Turtle's as my reception venue choice in September of 2015! The value for the price is off the charts. The owner, Bryan, truly cares about the bride and groom having a smooth and great experience. Unlike a lot of wedding vendors who exploit the pocketbooks of couples by inflating prices simply because they know people will pay anyway to have what they want on that special day, Bryan is more than fair with all of his prices from the rental fee, to food, to drinks. He provides a lot of necessities you'd pay extra for elsewhere. He's excellent at coordinating with vendors so the day of runs smoothly and the bride/groom don't have to field questions-you'll be busy!! His experience in the business is priceless. The reception space itself is gorgeous-even better in person! You simply cannot go wrong with choosing Turtle's.

Our wedding reception was at Turtle's this July, and we couldn't have had a better experience. We are SO glad that we stumbled upon Turtle's on The Knot because it ended up being perfect for our style and our number of guests. We loved the character of the place--our decorations were simple because the hall is aesthetically pleasing on its own! Bryan is awesome to work with and was very helpful every step of the way. We always felt informed, and he never tried to rip us off by charging us for tiny things. We had a great time at our food sampling and beer sampling, both of which helped us get exactly what we wanted to serve. The food was great. We received many complements on both the food and the venue itself. Thank you, Turtle's, for helping us have a perfect evening.

My fiance and I had been to a wedding reception at Turtle's way back in 2011 and when we got engaged I had my heart set on it! We planned our entire wedding around the only date they had available in May 2015! I was in love with the food, brick wall, wood and tile accents! Bryan was amazing from the beginning - so friendly and prompt in returning my phone calls and emails. We really enjoyed our tasting with Chef Ron. ALL the dishes were amazing and it was so hard to make a decision. On the day of the wedding, Bryan left us in Tammy's great hands. She was so warm and helpful in making sure we stayed on time and everything went smoothly. The rest of the serving and bar staff were great as well. We can't say enough great things about Bryan, his staff and the beautiful space! We highly recommend it and would do it all over again in a heartbeat! Thank you for making our wedding day so special for us and all our guests!

I found out about this venue on The Knot when I first got engaged. From the minute that I contacted Bryan, he was a pleasure to work with. He responded to my emails very quickly and was very knowledgable about all aspects of wedding receptions. He has had a lot of experience and knew how to handle every single thing that we asked him. Planning was so easy and I was not even stressed because Bryan had everything so well organized. In addition to the easy planning, the wedding reception was amazing! Every one of our guests loved the food and Bryan and his chef, Ron, did a great job at helping us personalize our menu. We also had late night pizza and many guests complimented on how it was the best pizza they have ever had. The venue is very beautiful and has a vintage vibe to it. All of our guests loved the venue as well. I was surprised at how affordable the venue was for how amazing everything was there! We had about 200 guests and it was perfect! I would highly recommend using Turtle's 1890 Social Centre as a wedding reception!

Love this place! We booked our wedding and reception here for May. Bryan and crew were great to work with - gave great recommendations and best practices...and was very thorough throughout the whole process. In the off season there is no food/beverage minimum which was fantastic. The rental fee was the best around - with no hidden charges. We had a ton of compliments on the food - we did a buffet style, roast beef and stuffed chicken. Before the ceremony when our guests arrived, we had glasses of champagne with a raspberry for them - a nice touch! The staff was great and easy to work with - we had NO complaints at all. I would book this place for our wedding and reception again and recommend to anyone. You can do a slideshow as well which is nice to have or have a picture slideshow around 2 TVs at the bar run all night. The set up was nice, and the parking was good as well. Loved it at Turtle's!!!

I first went to a wedding reception held at Turtles 1890 Social Centre. I was immediately impressed at the warmth and coziness of this venue and the bar was gorgeous! Then the food came and I made a comment that this was the best food I had ever had at a wedding reception. Then it was my turn to choose a venue for my daughter's wedding. They wanted Turtle's and I was not about to argue. I found out first hand how accommodating and organized they all were. We had a fabulous night and the food was outstanding down to the late night pizza. My only regret was that I didn't get a chance to try it. However, when the next daughter got married, we checked many other venues to change things up a bit. We ended up back at Turtle's due to the great feel we got there, the good was fantastic and Bryan and team did such a great job previously. This one also went off without a hitch. This time though, we instructed to keep the pizza's coming and I was able to get some this time around. Well worth the wait! Highly recommend; class A service with a great value. Natalie Culhane

We just had our wedding ceremony and reception at Turtle’s Social Centre, and the experience was WONDERFUL! We had approximately 100 guests for the evening ceremony, which was set up in the dance floor are and looked so beautiful with the lighting and very minimal decorations! The staff had the ceremony chairs cleared in minutes after the conclusion of the ceremony, so we were ready for the dance. The space is truly amazing and has so much character--from its exposed brick to the tin ceiling, to the vintage bar! The open space was great for mingling and movement, yet it still felt cozy and warm on a winter evening. Add in the on-site catering and simple and very reasonable pricing for both food and space, and Turtle’s Social Centre is quite a find! There were no additional fees for linens, cake-cutting, hosting the ceremony, etc., like with most other places. There is a flat fee, and that’s what you pay. The food and beverage estimate that we got from Turtle’s was dead-on! While the space itself has abundant charm, even more charming is the proprietor, Bryan! From the moment we went to see the space all the way through the evening of the wedding, he was accommodating, friendly, and really put our minds at ease about our special day. He is an excellent communicator, responded quickly to our questions, and had all of our needs covered for the wedding. We opted for a heavy appetizer reception, and Bryan and his chef, who both have many years of experience in planning and hosting events, helped us plan a diverse and wonderful food and beverage menu. The staff were also wonderful and attentive and very professional. Many of our guests commented on how great the food, staff and ambience were. We highly recommend this venue to anyone planning on hosting an event!

AMAZING venue I got married in Lakeville and was a little afraid of a 30 minute drive from the church to Turtles in Shakopee, but it was SO worth it. I have so many wonderful things to say about my reception at Turtle’s 1890 Social Centre. I would recommend this venue to anyone and everyone! The owner, Bryan, was an exceptional planner. He helped my family and me throughout the entire process. He was very accommodating and listened to every detail that I had asked about. You cannot find another venue with such “individuality” available. We had about 200 people and had plenty of room in this space. I loved how it was private and outside people were not allowed into our reception. Gifts were safe, bathrooms were private, and parking was very easy. Bryan also suggested Holiday Inn and we were very satisfied with their accommodations (free shuttle, free room for bride and groom for 10+ others staying from wedding party). The wait staff did an excellent job throughout the night and Bryan was also there to help with everything. The prices were very competitive. We picked out our own kegs to serve with Bryan’s help. We stayed local with GrainBelt Nordeast, GrainBelt Light, and Four Daughters Loon juice. We had a Hot Dog and Burger bar with all of the fixings and sides, root beer floats, and had their amazing pizza at the end of the night. You are also able to provide your own dessert at the reception – this was a huge save for my budget. My reception was flawless! And the ambiance of this venue was perfect for my style. The exposed brick, the beautiful exposed tin ceiling, and the wood bar made for great pictures. Decoration was minimal, as the space has such a great feel by itself. I have heard so many positive comments from all of our guests on what a great venue this was for my reception. Please, GO SEE THIS PLACE! You will NOT regret it 

We were so lucky to have our wedding reception at Turtles 1890 Social Centre in October, 2014! The staff we worked with were so flexible, and organized! They truly made our day special- everything went off without a hitch! I highly encourage all couples to consider hosting their special day at Turtles- you will not regret it!

Not only was I a Bride at the Social Centre but also the Birthday lady there as well. I would go back to Turtles Social Centre for another event. It says a lot that I used this place twice now for 2 different events. The Hall fee was reasonable on both occasions with all you get for this and there wasn't any hidden costs, like the cake cutting for example. The food was amazing and I am still hearing about how great the food was from our guests. I love that you can have a chicken nugget basket for the kids that don't want the buffet. It's important to keep kids happy because it will keep the parents happy which makes for a much better experience all the way around. The staff was very nice and pleasant to deal with on the day of the Wedding. Bryan Turtle was so easy to work with on both occasions with all the planning. And you don't have to provide your own insurance for such events which makes it easier for any Couple planning their wedding. Loved having the pizza option after a couple hours of dancing too for our guests. It's a nice new trend and of course the pizza is so amazingly good as well! Turtles truly helps you out to make the most out of your important day. It was very cool to be able to have our ceremony and reception there. The guests truly loved that they didn't have to drive to 2 different place. Just in case you are looking for that option. I would recommend this place to anyone!

Neal and I could not have been more blown away by the service we received at Turtles. We were honored to spend the most amazing day of our lives in this beautiful space. The room itself is breathtaking. Bryan was so easy to work with, very down to earth and accommodating. We were on a strict budget and we were able to have everything we wanted and then some. Bryan takes great pride in his venue and is happy to have others enjoy the space that is dear to him. Then there is the food... Ron (the head chef) is the man! We had the most delicious meal of herbed chicken and roast beef au jous. The wait staff were extremely helpful and really took charge. I had zero worries and was able to enjoy 09/20/14 for everything it was!! Thank you TSC, thank you Bryan and your entire Turtles "family" we are forever grateful for making our dreams come true! Our son and now daughter-in-law had their wedding reception at Turtles Social Centre. It was THE BEST night!! From meeting with Bryan way back 500 days before until the night of the wedding everything was perfect!! Bryan is the most easy going and friendly person to work with. He was professional and fun. The guests kept on commenting about the wonderful food and just the space itself. We did the buffet and it was outstanding. I would recommend this place totally and completely. We loved working with Bryan and everyone on his staff. It is THE place to have your reception.

What a find! Turtle's 1890 Social Centre held our wedding reception last night, and everything was so perfect! We had a hamburger buffet, which was super delicious and everyone LOVED! Bryan, the owner, is so easy to work with. He was able to make all of our ideas a reality and within a reasonable price range. There are absolutely no hidden costs, no extra fees for extra servers/bartenders or cake cutting. I really love the antique feel of the place, the exposed brick walls and the metal ceiling tiles are beautiful. Our guests were impressed and really enjoyed themselves at our reception!
