I don’t even know where to begin to explain how absolutely incredible Melissa is…by far the best decision/investment we made when planning our wedding!!! I didn’t even know exactly what I was looking for in a wedding planner. I just knew I needed someone to help guide me in the right direction because I am extremely indecisive, and since I was working and had an infant at home, I didn’t have 4 hrs a night to spend spinning my wheels (i.e. looking at Pinterest). Also, I had a vision for my wedding, but couldn’t exactly explain it or know how to make it come to fruition. Melissa was able to create a custom contract for us which included design consultation, month of wedding planning, as well as unlimited emails/calls to help me make quick/correct decisions. Melissa is incredibly kind, caring, patient, and at the same time able to manage a crowd of 200 people with complete ease and grace! During the rehearsal my sister said, “Where was Melissa when I got married? Every bride NEEDS a Melissa!” She helped manage all the vendors (some more difficult than others), leaving the whole process stress free allowing us to fully enjoy our wedding! The overall feel/décor of the reception was everything I dreamed of! It was absolutely beautiful, thanks to Melissa! I knew the vision I was looking for but couldn’t exactly explain it clearly. However, Melissa picked up exactly what I was looking for and made it reality! All our guests kept telling us it was one of the most beautiful weddings they have ever been to and not a detail was over looked! Also, she does it all! The day of, she had on a sewer’s apron supplying safety pins to the bridesmaids, and lip gloss to me right before walking down the aisle! She also dealt with some difficult groomsmen to make sure they were ready/dressed in time. She even came into the bathroom stall with me during the reception to help me with my dress. She made me feel so comfortable I didn’t think twice about peeing, completely bare chested, in front of her! I honestly cannot thank Melissa enough for everything she did to make our wedding the wedding of our dreams!

The venue my daughter and her fiancé chose was spectacular, but the downside was that we were responsible for arranging the caterers, florist, liquor, wedding cake, rental chairs, DJ, transportation to and from hotel, etc, etc. I felt my anxiety level going through the roof. Then we met with Melissa. She was so easygoing and knowledgeable my anxiety went down immediately. Even though we only hired her as a "Day of Wedding" coordinator, she worked with us for months via phone and email, advising us on vendors and making sure our contracts with them were all in order, etc. The day before the wedding, she organized the rehearsal so everyone felt comfortable with their role. Then the wedding day arrived! Melissa was charming but laser-focused, directing all of the vendors, family, guests, and attendants throughout the evening. She stayed to the very end making sure everything was packed up and cleaned up. She then delivered some leftover flowers to a local hospice! Our guests raved about the wedding and we didn't worry about anything the whole night because Melissa was managing it all so beautifully. We all agree we couldn't have had such a wonderful event if it wasn't for Twin Lights. Thanks, Melissa!!

Melissa is fantastic! We hired her to step in as a planner for the final month before the wedding. Going in, I wasn’t sure what a planner at that late stage would really add, but we had a busy month of work and all the recently married couples we knew urged us to do it. As soon as we started talking the wedding through with Melissa, I was thrilled we had listened to their advice. She managed all the vendors, made sure the details were taken care of, and kept us on track for everything else we had to do before the big day. I tend to have trouble delegating, but I trusted her with every detail, and she did not disappoint—including taking care of a last minute crisis with one vendor the very day before the wedding without us so much as knowing anything was wrong (and getting us a better deal in the process)! Melissa is a complete pro, she clearly has wonderful working relationships with the many vendors she’s dealt with in the past, and she’s willing to go above and beyond to make life easier for her clients. And it helps that’s she’s an absolutely lovely presence to have at the rehearsal and wedding day (the wedding party was full of compliments!). I would recommend her to everyone and anyone—our only regret is not hiring her sooner!

My (now) wife and I are not people who easily let take our hands of the wheel. After and year of very involved planning for our wedding the final two days were only possible because we had come to trust Melissa so much. She took the wheel and let us enjoy the countdown days to our wedding. All of the logistics were perfectly orchestrated in her head, she remembered all of the details after one rehearsal of our complex ceremony, she handled the many questions and requests and misunderstandings of our families with grace and charm. As the reception roared into the late hours, she continued to monitor all of the events making sure we were on schedule, that photographer had gotten all of the right photos, that the shuttles were running on time. Beyond Melissa's ability to pull off a flawless wedding, from connecting to the right vendors to designing the guest tables, she is a real pleasure to work with: always with a genuine smile, gentle constructive feedback, and a calming presence. I can't recommend her enough.

Melissa's was the first face I really saw after the elation and emotions of our ceremony. I felt instantly comforted, calmed, and settled. An MOB weighs in . . . my husband and I loved our daughter's and future son-in-law's wish to be married at our home, but were daunted by the logistics. Melissa inspired our confidence from the start, with her experience, organization and enthusiasm. Our wedding was the best day of our lives, helped in large part by Melissa's organization, planning, sense of humor, and vision. We contacted her for month-of planning services, but she made herself available to answer questions and consult with us throughout the yearlong planning process. Even weeks after welcoming a new baby, she took time to make us feel special and heard. She's a true project manager, but with a creative spirit that captures the best of what we envisioned while staying realistic with what was possible. When the logistics of planning a wedding for all out-of-state guests became too much, she helped us stay organized and offered great suggestions for transportation, lodging, and just general people management. Not one thing went wrong or was out of place, from the rehearsal on Friday through last call on Saturday night. If any issues did arise, Melissa handled them so well and so discretely that we never even heard about them. The whole day felt like a perfectly choreographed dance, where time was made for every element that was important to us, and we never felt overwhelmed or rushed. I probably hugged her more times than she wanted that day, but we couldn't have pulled this off without her. She put up with loud, ridiculous friends, demanding family, and bridal eye twitches with grace, poise, and confidence that kept the ship sailing in the right direction. Melissa was incredible to work with! She is patient, thoughtful, responsive, and flexible. Throughout the planning process, she supported my mom and I by narrowing down decisions, making creative recommendations, helping with vendor selection, advising us on what was worth spending on and what wasn't, and making sure that all of the little details and logistics were taken care of. I will admit that when my fiance (now wife) first approached me about hiring a wedding planner, I was skeptical about the need and our budget. I am happy to say that I could not have been more wrong. Melissa was nothing short of a god send and worth every single penny and then some. She taught us you pay for vendors for two things - quality of product and reliability - and she excelled at both. Melissa of Twin Lights Wedding Design was without a doubt the differentiator for our June 2017 wedding. The venue that we had chosen a few months before securing a coordinator was the reason why I needed logistics assistance. Our venue handles no more than six weddings/events per summer and does not have a dedicated coordinator on staff. Additionally, there is no on-site parking for guests. I had reached out to Melissa over a year before our big day (she is from the part of Cape Ann where our wedding would be taking place) and I knew immediately after sitting down with her that she would be the coordinator that would bring me a sense of calm and confidence on my wedding day. We contracted with Melissa for “month-of” wedding coordination and also had her “add-on” with transportation and lighting vendors. However, Melissa was a trustworthy and vital resource for me throughout every step of the planning process. She truly cared about the overall vision we had and offered suggestions on how to ensure the day was exactly as we planned while keeping our cost in mind. She worked around my work schedule for calls and was a text away when I had a panicked moment or needed help. She also delicately balanced my mother’s vision of my wedding day with what I wanted so that everyone was happy. On wedding day, Melissa kept us all calm and relaxed with her even-keeled personality. I didn’t have a stress in the world and was truly able to enjoy every minute of getting ready with my girls. She made sure the guys were where they needed to be when we needed them to be there. Melissa helped to orchestrated the ceremony with my uncle, who had never been a Justice of the Peace before and worked behind the scenes with my Maid of Honor, who surprised us by singing in the ceremony. Ideas that we had talked about in passing, like the band playing a song that was not on their setlist, Melissa made happen. When one of the vendors who I had hired to surprise my new husband hadn’t received his check in the mail, Melissa handled it. I am sure there are a handful of things that came up during our wedding that I will never know about because Melissa took care of it. My husband and I, as well as our parents, were able to enjoy every minute of our wedding day because we relinquished all control into Melissa’s extremely capable hands. I feel very fortunate, not only to have had a truly fantastic wedding day but to have also made a new friend in Melissa. We enjoyed working with Melissa leading up to our wedding and especially the day of. Melissa was wonderful in bringing our vision to life. I cannot imagine our wedding day, or planning process, without Melissa. She was the most amazing and invaluable resource leading up to and on the day of our wedding. I cannot begin to say enough about Melissa and Twin Lights Wedding Design. My wife and I got married this July at Crane Estate in Ipswich, and Melissa was with us every step of the way. She is incredibly organized and detail oriented and a fantastic communicator. She developed a rapport with each vendor, and made sure every possible issue was taken care of. Melissa was such a pleasure to work with! I absolutely could not recommend her more. She was SO helpful. From the start, she responded promptly to our questions and gave great recommendations for vendors via emails, phone calls, etc., She made a visit to our venue over a year in advance to help me decide on the ideal tent, floor plan, porta-potties, transportation, etc. She was a voice of reason and a true problem-solver during the several changes in our guest list, venue challenges, and tricky insurance policy problems. I was impressed by her efficient system to keep track of our contracts and advice on what was a reasonable v a crazy/expensive proposal. Overall, the perfect professional to help manage all of the crazy logistics. However, what I loved most about working with Melissa was her personal touch. My Mom died a few months after my fiancé and I got engaged and I have missed her greatly during the wedding planning process. Melissa completely understood my need to have my Mom feel present on the day of the wedding. Simply put, in my opinion, you should hire her!

Twin Lights Wedding Design is a fabulous business because Melissa, the owner and wedding planner, is amazing. If you want a lovely, smart, talented, professional individual to help you plan your wedding (and you most likely do, because wedding planning is exhausting), then hire Melissa. If you want an individual with the above adjectives to not plan your wedding, but just orchestrate the event on the ‘big day’, then hire Melissa. Seriously, when I think back on my wedding day, I had NO worries (aside from being nervous about being the center of attention) and just had fun. If anything went wrong during the big day, I wasn’t aware of it because of Melissa. We chose to interview with Twin Lights (whose interview was first) for two reasons: (1) the weddings on the website were all unique and little details that were highlighted really resonated with us, and (2) we liked the picture of Melissa on the website – she just looked like the kind of person you would want to work with. We knew that we wanted to work with Melissa after speaking with her. We both felt confident about her abilities and really good about her as a person. The remainder of the wedding planning process went smoothly. Melissa worked with the vendors etc. and everything was handled. She instantly got our style and us as a couple. She assisted us in the decision-making and helped us execute the wedding we wanted while keeping practicalities and logistics in mind. On the day of the wedding Melissa was on top of it. You know a planner is good when not only you and your family/friends are impressed with her, but other vendors (DJs and caterers) are amazed by her efficiency and professionalism. And, these are vendors who have not necessarily worked with her before (like the DJ, who we knew personally and who said she was the best wedding planner he worked with before and during the wedding). I have also never seen someone handle annoying (but well-meaning) family members of the bride and groom with such grace. My mother-in-law wanted to be a part of the first look (which we already told her was not going to happen) and during it, Melissa firmly told her she would have to wait for the pictures. Still, she had nothing but high praise for Melissa. My aunt tried to take the trash out while we were getting ready to leave for the ceremony and Melissa ushered her out of the house in such an effective yet respectful way – my aunt still talks about “sweet Melissa”. Because of venue and post-reception partying logistics, we didn’t have anyone to take our presents back to our place. Melissa offered to take them back for us and we trusted her to do that. She drove back to our place, unloaded the gifts, and then drove to us to return our keys. She wasn’t required to do that, but she did, and it made our time easier. I highly recommend Melissa/Twin Lights Wedding Design!

Melissa was fantastic. She was great both during the lead-up planning and day-of organizing. She keeps her cool and is very sweet. I had a vendor tell me she was the nicest wedding planner they had dealt with! We worked with a venue that does not typically host weddings (i.e., it is not their core business) but Melissa persevered and finessed and shielded me from the venue’s quirks. She offered me a selection of vendors in my price range that she’d worked with before which made the process a lot easier. I was based out of the country but Melissa was flexible with talking mornings or evenings. I couldn’t have pulled off the wedding planning from abroad without her. Day-of, she kept the trains running on time and was ready to troubleshoot. Highly recommended.

This wedding was in the groom's hometown not the bride's. As a result, we were much more closely involved in the planning for the weekend's events than we would have been otherwise. We interviewed the planners and recommended that Twin Lights be selected. We had direct access to Melissa on many occasions over the year leading up to the wedding. All of our emails, calls and meetings were comfortable and responsive to the issues at hand. All of the wedding events turned out as we had hoped. There were no upsets. Melissa was always there to help us think through and make good decisions. She was wonderful to work with, comfortable with herself and always calm and under control. She kept everyone else calm right through the wedding day. Melissa is thoroughly professional yet we always had the feeling she shared in our excitement about the wedding. We all feel very lucky we found Melissa to be Sam and Liz's wedding planner. The kids chose Melissa over several other people they interviewed. She combined a youthful, flexible approach with experience and competence. She handled all aspects of preparation for the wedding ceremony and reception preparation beautifully. One of our goals for the wedding was to relax and have fun! Based on the wedding experiences of our friends this seemed like an impossible ask, but working with Melissa the month leading up to the wedding and having her as the day of coordinator made this possible. Don't get me wrong, there was lots of stress leading up to the wedding (mostly around family expectations) but Melissa helped make the wedding weekend itself stress free. Melissa was the single biggest game changer in my wedding day. I had an extremely elaborate set up - custom everything, down to the disposable bathroom hand towels - we had a prop guy bringing stuff in from North Shore, custom linens from multiple locations, not to mention transportation for 130 guests from downtown Boston to Boston College and back for the ceremony. Melissa and her assistant never seemed over whelmed, managed every detail with the utmost professionalism and ease. As a Michigan MOB planning a wedding in Boston for a daughter who lives in San Francisco I knew I needed a wedding coordinator. Our budget did not allow for a full wedding design service so we chose Melissa after interviewing several people to be the month of coordinator. She was extremely organized, prompt in getting back to us and full of fabulous tips and ideas which she shared willingly. She has a great sense of style and would be excellent as a full wedding designer/planner as well as a month of coordinator. Some of the other things I loved about Melissa was her willingness to work within our budget and the personal way she interacted with us giving all of us the "we're in this together feeling." She was extremely pleasant to work with and all of our other vendors commented on her professionalism. I have recommended her to the staff at the Omni Parker House where we had the wedding. Needless to say, the wedding went off without a hitch and that is something given 3 days of activities at four different locations and 95 percent out of town guests. Hiring Melissa Larocque was the best decision we made.

My husband and I had interviewed three other wedding planners and then we met Melissa. Immediately we both had a great connection with Melissa and knew that she was what we needed. Our wedding was at a private club that doesn't typically host weddings, which made more work for us but with Melissa's help, everything was flawless. Melissa and I met multiple times in person at the venue to discuss the set up and also figure out where the plugs were located, the light switches and even where the tables and chairs were located that we would be using. Melissa came prepared to each meeting with a notebook and pen in hand, taking notes and emailing vendors throughout as needed. Melissa did an excellent job taking over communication to our vendors and arranging set up and pick up times. Even when one vendor arrived early, Melissa was available via phone to explain where to set up the delivery at our venue. Melissa spent a great deal of time the day before helping us set up and giving responsibilities to various family members who were eager to help! The day of our wedding, Melissa kept us to our timeline while being super polite and friendly. One of my bridesmaids had a dress malfunction, minutes before walking down the aisle and Melissa was prepared with a small sewing kit and double stick tape to quickly take care of the issue without my even knowing! My bridal party was very impressed with Melissa's planning, timeline, friendliness and professionalism. She was by our side after the ceremony with a water for each of us, which was greatly appreciated! I cannot say enough about how great Melissa was! She is very professional, friendly and gets the job done!

Melissa planned the send off brunch for me, it was the Sunday after a very well planned wedding and reception (also planned by Melissa but for the bride). There were about 90 people at the brunch. Melissa worked with the caterers including bar, the florist, the musical trio. She also had to deal with lost guests as there was a venue change from the invitation which meant posting signs and redirecting. The event was on a rooftop terrace, mid morning and was going to be very sunny. Melissa arranged for tables with umbrellas which helped protect some of the more sun sensitive guests. Flowers from the reception were placed on the tables that had the softest pink linen cloths. The buffet tables were set up in various locations to keep the guests moving and not standing in line. The table seating allowed for a nice flow of conversations...all Melissa's designs. She is a delight to work with, she is patient, listens to thoughts, makes recommendations, is eager to please and strives for perfection, she manages staff respectfully and gets the job done. A plus is that she is available by phone, gives excellent feedback and reports on the status of the event plans. Never a moment where I didn't know how the plans were going and the event itself ran beautifully. No one better in my book.

Melissa was very easy to communicate with; she has plenty of ideas, but was always supportive of our own. Whether you have a lot of the specifics in mind or want to sit back and let her do all the planning, I would highly recommend her. She is pleasant, friendly, fun, and accommodating.

Now that the wedding is over I feel Melissa needs another review! Even better than the last. We had an outdoor ceremony at a state park, that was not an easy location due to numerous reasons. She handled all obstacles thrown her way with tact, yet a get it done attitude. She didn't relay any stress or issues onto me at any point throughout the process or the day of the wedding and I greatly appreciated that. She was more than just my planner, she became my friend. . .the one person who got how I was feeling and could tell me it'd be ok! She was fun to work with, full of ideas and always pointing out things that I didn't even think of. She set up my outdoor ceremony in a way that was so perfect it was beyond my wildest dreams. It was HOT the day of my wedding, she came up to me right after my husband and exited the ceremony, with a water in hand and a handkerchief to keep me cool. Melissa was willing to do whatever it took, to make sure I was happy and ready to roll onto the next task at hand that day. She was like my personal assistant, I couldn't have asked for more. She went above and beyond any expectations I had set for the day and I'm so thankful to have had her as my wedding planner for my ceremony. I'd highly recommend her to anyone, the BEST!

A few years ago, as mother of the bride, I found myself in a rather difficult position while attempting to plan my daughter's destination wedding. She chose a small area which offered no true wedding reception venue. My load was considerably lightened after Melissa Larocque came onboard as the wedding planner! Melissa made our wedding possible. My husband and I had a vision of exactly what we wanted our wedding to be, but we did not have the time or organizational skills to actually plan it. Our attempts on our own did not go well. Hiring Melissa was the best decision we made! For example, I mentioned the style of dress that I had in mind, and two days later Melissa emailed me a link with a few pages of dresses that fit my description. I found the perfect dress on the first page and ordered it immediately! I had a similar experience with invitations. Everyone involved in our wedding was impressed by Melissa’s professionalism, efficiency and calm nature. THREE different vendors sought us out later to tell us how organized she was and how easy and pleasant it had been to work with her. She was even able to help ease the inevitable bride/mother-of-the-bride tension on several occasions! In short, Melissa made it possible for us to achieve exactly what we wanted: a wedding that was elegant and sophisticated, without being stuffy. The end result was beautiful, and had a genuine warmth and charm that would have been lacking without Melissa’s experience and attention to every detail. We could not have done it without her! You do not want to plan a wedding without her!
